march 13 2019

i calls 'em as i sees 'em---  one of the toughest part of sdp is telling someone we can not help them.. most of the time it is a very somber "i am sorry but one of our dogs could not do what is needed." and they go away.. i have been at this since 2003-- and 3 times i have had someone say "i am going to sit here til you agree to give me a dog."-- that is when my language can go south, as i keep my finger on the  911 button... i start out feeling sorry for these people, but as they get offensive it becomes even more obvious why they are not going to get one of our danes as they tell me that they will be suing me for  not having a handicap rest room.  it gets very close to  calling 911 for help- which i have not done yet.
i must admit.... my language can become.... specific....  so out there in the world of the internet there are now 3 people who are very unhappy about the words i used to tell them that we could not help them.   3 in 15 years isn't too bad...

i cannot say i was ever prepared for  the world's inherent negativity-   i can say  "lets  paint that doghouse green" and i guarentee you someone will not only object to green, but tell anyone who will listen how i had no right to make such a decision.   this is the kind of person that would never understand that i made that decision because i  was standing amid 4 gallons of green paint.
you laugh?  i can not tell you the number of emails i get about the baby donkey-- coat on   coat off   gate move-- hay move-  heat lamp up  down  -- halter on -off   most are pleasent suggestons which i don't mind -- but there are a couple who basically want to be unhappy and criticize something... and having access to that camera  gives them a running start.  i try and answer as many emails as i can.... but i can be overwhelmed....
th temp dropped in the kennel 10 the other night...  from 70 to 50  and it stayed at 50--luckily  one cp said "if it was 50 degrees outside it would be fine..."  but another wanted me to get out of bed and go fix the furnace.  when i explained 50 wasn't bad... then it started ---- how lazy i was, and had no business to cage those pups in such an uncomfortable place..  it can be awful to have to listen to that... except ... it can also be funny.
**
along with  "the things i must not talk about...."  this could be dangerous--- but janine rushes around taking as best care she can of as many as she can---  and she knows what shortcuts are acceptable and which are not. .. and which should be referrd to vetrernatrians- in that last load withteh ponies... there was one  that was not only sick with some relatively normal runny nose-- but had a bad "mechanical BONE problem" -- so like the white donkey, it was decided it was in paIN AND SHOJLD BE PUT TO SLEEP-- WHICH TEH VET DID.   THERE IS A FEELING AROUND HERE HALF DEAD AND NEEDING  CARE IS AN EMERGTENCY  DEMANDING ATTENTION... ABSOLUTELY DEAD IS
NOT A PROBLEM-- IT CAN NOT GET ANY DEADDER..( IN  HEAT   OF SUMMER  THAT MIGHT NOT BE TRUE...)  BUT IT WAS COLD... THE DEBATE TEHN BECAME ---- HIRE A HUGE TRACTOR TO BREAK THRU THE FROST--- TRY AND SNEAK ANOTHER DEAD ANIMAL BENEATH THE MANURE PILE ( NO FROST) -- HIRE  TEH DEAD ANIMAL GUY( $500)--  OR PUT IT IN THE BACK OF THE PICKUP AND  GO TO  A WINDING ROAd in MAINE and take a corner too quickly and make some cayotes very happy.. -- she opted for teh $500 -- she has donors who support her  rescue activities.
personally ... i would have gone to maine.
