 DAY LATE.... 10 5

An actual first hand report from North Carolina Gwen is sitting slightly above the town of Asheville on a hill thankfully and she said the place is totally wiped out um the entire town building facilities et cetera but the the thing that impressed me when I said to her you know get yourself some water bottles so etcetera um she said FEMA is there she said they were there at the start with great flourish they're dropping pallets of water food you name it she said FEMA is here and working and I was glad to hear that because so often they get knocked for not not being on the ball but she said there's helicopters all the time flying overhead dropping things and she said the real problems are the older women of older women older people who are on some medication that they need to get it from the local drug store and that drugstore is no longer there so that it's a reminder if you're on any medication to keep a couple months supply I did that at one point with my DylanTIN  and then I ate it all so in the process so I think I should go back to having a better supply on hand other than that she's fine and she said there's a there are two cabins up the hill from them which are owned by the same person a wealthier man who lives in California who had installed some kind of satellite deal and he had he had communication he had Internet communication so she went up to his house and was able to continue working which is a very good thing other than that...  Glenn says she has plenty of food for the dogs which I think number 5 ohh corgis.. and the bathtub full of water... They do live quite near a stream to get the dogs watered,, There is some cowboy expression about getting a drink upstream from the herd..

I feel terrible when I don't get the daily doggie out I'm not sure why yesterday I think I have it written back here in this pile of stuff um but there are several several things I have to write and let's face it I do get mixed up.

Old age is some kind of test... somebody keeps pulling strings for the damnedest things to happen to see how much you can keep track of all at once..  That package I just got in the mail am I to rub it on my ankle or to take 2 teaspoons every three weeks... With food... Or is it the dog's flea powder. Gotta wonder....

I went for my INR.. test.. one drop of blood into a machine which is supposed to say I am between 2:00 and 3:00..  however this time it was 1.7 and the technician doing the job check back and found that I had skipped one breakfast bunch of nine pills.. As opposed to my evening bills which are 14 in number

All that because of a blood clot .. By now may be gone..

I have not bothered to take the hospital wristband of my arm because the emergency room seems to be everybody's answer 2 not wanting the responsibility of recommending anything else definite. fortunately larkey goes with me so there's no way you can forget me in the waiting room.. The emergency room does have some triage operation.. it used to be it was at least an RN with identification hanging around her neck but of late I'm not sure what the triage person has for qualifications other than the fact they're there. There is no name with titles MD... RN or whatever on that identification hanging around her neck

We both laughed as,,,,I gave her a monkey fist with the label,, here's one more marble in case you think you've lost them all

Dd 10 3

super birthday. Thanks to all !! we will get to packages tonight---  I did enter the quwick pcks just now.. and we certainely are. 100%. With extra money for the fun fund along with hay bales...shatting in a day or so... i need to “do” the boardd..d...

we are in good shape for the next month or two...  enough for me to put forth a crazy idea,,

penny—the puppy  is a super active dane.. and I am thinking maybe we can entertain with her actions... like getting ready for agility \training....like jumping jumps...  – I had some bits of pipe around here and have purt it together into a “jump” about 2’; wide and 12 “high.... it is of 1 ½ inc pvc pipe.. schedule 40  .. Which is readily available at Home Depot and places like that If any of you want to put together a jump with the pieces readily available either at Home Depot or at some PVC furniture fittings type place that would be a great idea.. Especially if you put it together with only the two foot wide size bar,, to save shipping of anything for five feet wide because I can easily change the wide bar..  I had to order two five way pieces because they would be the foot the hold up the jump... Because I didn't get those yet I used two. four way and added a 90°,,  When you're putting this together remember you have the inside and outside diameters to think about sometimes referred to male and female which shouldn't take too long for you to figure out.. I would think penny could easily jump A 2 foot bar in a nursing home that would be an interesting thing to do ...

I like to keep in mind not all of these daycare people are Alzheimer patients --- we have several who are quite astute.. So we should keep some of our activities geared—to those to--- Remember the reason I remove their collars and leashes when they are in these places is because sometimes there are clients who grab things and hold on which would not be a good thing..  There is so much in the lives of these people which is routine..  that I like to have our arrival present something new and different as much as I can..  and these places are all heated and air conditioned and they make perfect training rooms .

My fly is back on the screen this morning chasing my cursor--  I'm not sure I should have started this because when he's not chasing the cursor he's trying to fly into my ear or nose as punishment .

Many thanks for the  sold out--  and all the encouraging comments so many saying keep on keeping on.  well I enjoy doing what we're doing..  it's no skin off my nose..  the dogs like it--and heaven knows the activities directors in these blazes are nearly in tears.. to have some more strange things to fill up there their calendars which they must produce every month..  so with your help we can do that..   and we haven't yet going into a place with judy's turtle ...  And I am told that Carly now has a third house chicken---  a small white Bantam which she carries on her head....  that's OK I like that.. and curly's mother is in charge of keeping track of curly's apartment because this house chicken business could get out of hand...

 Dd 10. 02

Little late---- lost power--- well actually I lost power all the other buildings on this property have a generator except the guesthouse..  And it's not just that I lost power I lost all my passwords and t I had the daily doggie pretty well written in my headhings like that and that start again when that takes a while however we're on it..

Stuff has a way of getting very complicated very quickly in a place like this.  take yesterday I had a phone call from someone named Marsha so I thought that was that same RN who would come to me the day before and said she'd be back and she said that in the phone call that she was right outside my door and she was afraid to come in because of the dogs so I said I was just getting out of the shower and to come ahead and the dogs were fine,,, it never occurred to me that she was at the wrong house which she was over at my old house Elizabeth now Elizabeth and full of German shepherds that are not quite the same as great Danes she did not get bitten but as she walked through the door Elizabeth husband came running at her screaming get out of here get out of here as he was afraid what the dogs would do which they didn't do and everything was fine but the whole thing was pretty funny to start with she is a very nice RN and I hope she comes back to see us somewhere along the line I have never in my life had three companies fighting over me but that's about the way it is right now...m.  I now have quite a few demonstrable ailments..   All requiring some kind of medical attention and then need to be checked on with all sorts of testing which then can be billed separately to Medicare I think what they call me is a cash cow??. That problem is yet to be sorted out because person #3 RN  was the person who was entering the wrong house and facing German shepherds and she was really very funny about it... funny and amused people sre an or an asset around here .

Now the topic of the day was to be.. The fact that I learn.  I learn very slowly but I do eventually learn.---namely.---There is a person from Guatemala who saved many pennies move to the United states and purchased a huge wood chipper..  Then   he  sat down and read the entire manual.. and went out and bought a grease gun..  so that when his friends who cut down trees need to grind up the tops of trees they call him they want to borrow his chipper... But it's not really borrow it is rent so that he has enough money by grease for his grease gun and enough time to sit down and read more of the manual..   he's kind of a prepackaged bud...  who has for 14 years read all our manuals and figured out how to keep our machinery running..  but he like I – are  getting old failing eyesight /

So that we are finding it's more economical to sit back and let our friendly Guatemalan provide a chipper..  This pleases Janine to no end because she has very little tolerance 4 machinery which doesn't function perfectly..  and she too has found that she doesn't have to own these things she just needs to remember our friendly guatemalans name and phone number.. This concept gives her more room underneath our various tents--for things like picnic tables for bus loads of people coming here from adult care centers.  This process it's called intellectual growth... so that this person named Linda Cloud can collect all the numbers and find that we have serviced over 6000 people and it's not quite a year yet..

Crazy acres has always been a very delicate balance of interdependency.  A wonderful camera person was not using her car and offered it to me for our operation. When that happened it was wonderful but almost an extra until one day someone smashed Jane's car door, I really stopped driving... Elizabeth's daughter started driving.  And Elizabeth's husband and carlene became addicted to a lunch of  mangoes smoothies. From topsfield.... So all the cars rotated 1 notch and everything is working fine.

Stay tuned...for the ”formal? happy birthday celebration ?oct  19th. with donkeys ...

update on ashville nc--- guns are drawn over food and water... plus there is no cash around..atms out etc

 10 01

Dd 10 01.

Hippo birdies 2 me. Lord knows there have been a lot of them.....and many thanks to those wheo’ve done the henny penny thing—that keeps us going...

Now...... in my long career as suburban housewife—who’s many chores included the  “lowering of the lawn” I have bought, borrowed, traded a tremendous number of machines.. just to name a few....craftsman the standard..—Dr mower ( which would cut off small trees),...troy,,..black and decker...farmall....ryobi,,,john deere.///honda,,,, husquavana and finally  Kubota.. –

I have driven them and loan them out and carry them around in a trailer sometimes and been responsible for cutting down the most amazing collection of vines and forest undergrowth--- by far my favorite was the Farmall who had a collection of right angled knives on a four foot long drum which hung underneath the middle  and driven slowly that thing would grind up just about anything and leave what sometimes resembled a green lawn..   The John Deere would have to get the award for the most long-suffering.. constantly abused one way or another it got back into motion and into work...

I loaned out this kind of equipment to anybody who really needed to borrow it constantly slowing down overgrown fields for Boy Scouts ball playing... That Dr. mower was the most strange of the bunch because I could replace the weed whipping with a blade and it would cut off small trees almost at ground level ----but that had its own danger because it left about a 2 inch stop which could almost go through a sneaker----

Now why after 50 years of mower swapping sharing and loaning,,,,, I have to watch janine push a hand mower while the heavy duty  ride on kubota stands idle, is beyond me... could be the experience of dealing with the more sophisticated equipment has been dropped also..  because someone I have no idea who.. fill the two diesel  cans with gasoline some of which may or may not have been dumped into the diesel engines on the Kubota... again

There is a very nice man who is currently moving the manure pile to where it might eventually produce grass. I don't know who he is what are you doing you're fine job and I can tell you why I know that.... I don't hear the tractor complaining with a roaring engine or things like that he gets a full bucket in his loader but it's not overflow because he doesn't spill it all the way up the driveway to where he's dumping it.. and I think he was the one that discovered the gasoline in the yellow cans.. before he done any damage..

There is an awful lot of miscellaneous knowledge that goes with owning a lot of the equipment we now have--and I am quick to say it's bud that keeps us going straight.. but without bud I don't think I would even bother owning most of the stuff I now have... I would rent it and let somebody else deal with the problems...  most noticeably the last tune up I had for the bigger tractor was $3200.

bud has for years done all the minor tune ups but every once in a while you have to go for the major. OK ohh off
