somewhere in the middle of the night i lost track of how mamy pups we have... a bunch... may did a super job.... so did megan in delivering most of them . MEG LEFT AFTER A RESPECTABLE TIME WHEN IT LOOKED LOIKE MAY WAS DONE... BUT NADIA DID HAVE A COUPLE BANG ON THE DOOR WIGH : "THERE IS SOMETHING COMING OUT" EPISODES... TWICE IT WAS A PUPPY, ONCE AN AFTERBIRTH WHICH SHE ATE. THIS CAN BE HARD TO TQAKE, BUT MAY WAS NOT EATING FOOD... -- EVEN THE COOKED CHICKEN -- OR CHEESE( FOR CALCUIM) BUT SHE WOUOLD EAT THAT LIVER LOOKING AFTER BIRTH.. WHICH IS NATURAL... IT IS ALSO NURISHMENT... IT IS NOT NICE TO QUESTION MOMMY NATURE , EVEN IF BY HUMAND STANDARDS HER PRQAXCTICES ARE "UNUSUAL" IT DOES KEEP TEH"NEST CLEANER AND LESS LIKELY TO ATTRACT CARNIVORES LIKE TURKEY BUZZARDS... WHICH I CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT IN MY HOUSE.
we even got 2 harls out of teh bunch.. i wouldn't want to guess but i bet megan will choose one of them as her pup to go home with may . maybe not... but... that is how this works... her choice... just think-- betsy now has 3 danes.... scarlott begot mischa who begat skye.. and we wait for sky to come in heqt for more begatting. SO......before we get any complaints about puppy production... every pup of ours is aimed at service work or something constructive .. we do not sell pups.....megan will train it really well to do something helpful , i am sure,
so this is where it all starts.. well in 3 weeks serious training starts with solid food ...first lesson? you can eat just as fast without one foot
in the dish. and then if you sit quietly ,you will get your own spoonfull of canned food. ( thanks to sam k we now have a bunch of icetea spoons with a long handle.)
in the meantime.....
goats milk...i have fed meyenberg goats milk for years-- and by last count since 1988, that is several hundred of dogs and service dogS . it is wonderful stuff. --- a people product in powdered form,... between that and Purina puppy food, i don't think there is a better ,healthier way to start pups. so tho i was flattered to have them suggest i try their new dog milk replacement product, i had second thoughts..... TRY is not my favorite word to use on a bunch of our pups... the old ... if it works, don't fix it..... so i am delighted to give meyenberg all teh publicity i can with a successful product i have used for years... unless it is purely the same goats milk with the label changed, i think i should stay with what i have used for years... if it is just to market the dog world with the same stuff... then i certainly would be happy to have them say we use it... because we sure do. first in a bottle... then mixed with their gruel of purina puppy...it also means we need to get out our oster blender because if we don't, it does not fit thru the nipple of eh baby bottle we use..... ther are soooo many detsils... like.. too much blending and it is a milkshake sort of stuff full of bubbles.. and that is no good.------- then AT SOME POUNT we stop.. PUPS TELL US WHEN TO STOP....IT IS VERY SIMPLE....
here we go with my opinion.....
it seems to me... that pups get to the point of not digesting milk and get very loose poops...teh slip and slide factor with it's very unique odor....so common in puppy establishments....i am proud to say even that year we had 4 litters at once.. the house did not smell. that is the combination of stopping the milk and having some very lithe volunteers who sometines can catch it before it hits teh floor.. alonG with an extensive rating system.--- firm cylindars,--- soft cylindars --- mound---pancake--- flat---noisy-- projectile...... also our collection system of 3 x 6 inch cereal box cardboard( sometiomes decorated with cute sayings) and a recycled grocery bag.... makes for perfect poo collection. i have lectured on this topic at a convention with a british woman who had invented a chunky vomit picker... but after she used hers she was sstill faced with a dirty chunky vomit picker.. and my system packaged the product for removal.
our poo pickers are donaed by teh camera people... by The enveloope or teh boxfull --- we hav e them all over crazy acres in mail boxes ansDcarry them in BACK POCKET... THEY FIT IN HT SAME POCKET AS OUR CELLPHONES. HER CHUNKY VOMITPICKER COUOLDN'T DO THAT...
we have a very happy bandwagon and many corporations want to get on it.... i am picky.. if it is somethign we use,and find successful, then i am happy to say so.
mail call works both ways... if we don't/CAN'T use it, i will say that too.
ALL PUPS LOOK HAPPY HEALTHY AND AFTER 12 HOURS OF LIFE WITH MAY, THEY HAVE A FAMILIAR ROUNDNESS TO THERI BELLIES..
BELLY CHECKING WILL CONTINUE AD INFINITAM.
MOVING ALONG..
