july 20 2020
i had an email... thru explore, asking about   who was the big black dog.. and why was someone  sitting with her.
so i wrote
this is "may"  - beautiful dog....we imported from germany  to keep our bloodlines mixed

she is bred  to give us more service dogs.. we do not sell pups..... this  is where it gets exciting....
we meant to breed her to tigger, but he didn t like her ,,, doesn't happen often but the 4 day window  of fertility was closing...
in a panic we bred her to sir richard, a young impoirt from czech
since we had not bred him before, and did not know if he "works"   and we need pups
we drafted  grommet -- who was happy to help....    grommet  has had several nice litters...he is one of "our pups"  born here but father from denmark
we could have "used" any of our other 5 studs because -- being imported ---she is totally unrelated to any of our  bloodlines
but  teh other 4    studs  we have out and round.... are black... and we have too many blqck dogs now
that i hqve trouble telling apart, so i am hoping for some with distinguishing marks..
gromett is a "piebald" ---- white with  - big blanket type  black blotches-
which is apparently not a showable color... i really don't know--- i am breeding for a healthy , sound dog AND  teh color
is critical only becasue i can t  tell  a bunch of black dogs apart,

i will now cut and paste this in my "daily doggie"    which is  what i write every morning ..
and can be found by clicking on the coffee cup on our web.

i didn't even get into the color bit but this color of teh pups may give us some idea as to the fathre of the pups...
i COMPared the color results of 300 of our pups to the listed percentages on the great dane club of america's chart
and found them to be  very accurate.
if richard... teh merle is teh father   we couold expect 25% each black    black/white  harlequin and merle
now if gromet is teh dad  the ratios would be 33%  black/white  16 black  33 harl and 16 merle
but since  there can be 2 fathers of one litter ---- we won't have a clue...

i don't normally care ... but if tehre is a pup in the litter we want to save for breeding,i would have to do the dna.
or at least pay special attention to the bloodlines   gommet is a walter son... and a scarlott  nephew.. so relatged to alot of our current dogs
.-------

TEARING UP BLANKETS  IS A GOOD INDICATION OF CONTRQACTIONS STARTING...   THQT HAPPENED AT MIDIONGHT LAST NIGHT SO I CALLED MEGAN   WHO WAS WATCHING ANYWAY.. IT IS WHY SHE IS SLEEPING ON THE SOFA-
I THINK WE SHOLD MOVE THE BIGGER SOFA TO THAT SPOT  BPTH MEGAN AND MAY WOUIOLD FIT BETTER ONIT BIGGER  ONE
----
I AM NERVOUS ABOUT EXTRA PEOPLE HERE IN THE HOUSE-- MEGAN HAS  TO BE HERE, BUT I DID SEE A LIST OF PEOPLE TO CALL.-
USUALLY  WE CALL A LIST AFTER THE FIRST PUP I S BORN AND PEOPLE THEN ARRIVE WITH PIZZA AND CHINESE FOOD.

I DON'T WANT TO PLAY THAT GAME  THIS TIME... WE HAVE TEH CAMERA opperqtors doing a greaat job following may wherever  .... so to hqve  a bunch here just for "fun"  doesn't cut the mustard.  there are  a soooo mANY  people necessary to run this place-- BUT MOST ARE OUTSIDE AND CAN BE 10 FEET APART.... WONDERFUL   BUT ONLY  A MINIMUM SHOLD BE IN BUILDINGS.. AND WE ARE TEMP TAKING HOUSE PEOPLE,.
 WHY NOT?
--
NOW   ABOUT BARN DOORS.....   I GET MANY  ....OPEN THE DOOR... SHUT THE DOOR ---TURN LIGHTS ON  OR OFF  --- CHECK THE HAY INSIDE .. CHECK OUTSIDE.. I HAVE SPENT MANY  YEARS TRAINING JANINE ABOUT ANIMALS AND I CANNOT THINK OF  A MORE ACCOMPLISHED PERSON . AT BEING ABLE TO ASSESS A GROUP OF ANIMALS AND MAXIMISE TEH BENEFITS FOR ALL CONCERNED .  FROM THE CAMERAS YOU CANONT SEE OR UNDERSTAND  EVERYTHING..  I DON'T MIND SUGGESTIONS   BUT TO TELL STAFF TO UNDO SOMETHING JANINE HAS DONE  SCARES ME... FROM GATES OUTSIDE TO WATER FOR THE TURKEYS,  I WOULD Rather go with what  she did..   i guarentee she can walk past 20 animals AND SPOT A PROBLEM FASTER THAN 99% OF TEH WORLD.  she did  just that a few years ago when she anaoyzed teh carriage horses in new yourk city..  her article was in eitrher the ny times or wall street journal.. it was a good  study....with details.
====
think.... pockets  with her black hair    could go stand in the shade -- but chooses to stand in the sun..... i can not worry about that. it is her problem.

I DON'T USUALLY DO THIS , BUT SOME OF THESE MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD... I  WISH I HAD SAID THEM

. If these last months have taught us anything, it's that stupidity travels faster than any virus on the planet, particularly among politicians and bureaucrats.

. Just wait a second - so what you're telling me is that my chance of surviving all this is directly linked to the common sense of others? You're kidding, right?

. Whoever decided a liquor store is more essential than a hair salon is obviously a bald-headed alcoholic.

. Remember when you were little and all your underwear had the days of the week on them. Those would be helpful right now.

. The spread of Covid-19 is based on two factors: 1. How dense the population is and 2. How dense the population is.

. When this virus thing is over with, I still want some of you to stay away from me.

Hi Carlene

I appreciate the dedication you and everyone has at SDP. I saw Great Danes in person a few years
ago at a dog show. I fell in love with the breed. I've learned a lot about the breed from you. They seem to be an elegant and goofy breed. I've also learned a lot from you about training. I have incorporated many of it with my dog. I enjoy watching all the Danes and other animals around Crazy Acres.
Thank you for using animals in such a positive way to make such a difference.
A.S.
