BASICALY , I DO NOT HAVE A CLUE HOW TO HOUSEBREAK A DOG--- WELL I HAVE ONE CLUE--- PUPS DO SEEM TO WANT TO GO AS FAR AS THEY CAN FROM THEIR BEDS--- OR THIER MOTHER' FIERCE LICKING TO STIMULATE THEM---------- AS THEY ARE SET UP IN OUR KITCHEN. THEY SEEM TO PREFER PEING IN FRONT OF TEH FRIDGE WHICH IS FAR FROM THE SOFT BEDDING...
HOWEVER ONCE THEY GRaduate to run of the house..... they literally do just thatt,.. in spite of our flying with pee pad in hand to catch the drip... the part about anticipating a full bladder is one of th ose traiing problems---- how to anticipate.....
eventually-- even the camera people will notice.."he's lingering by the front door". one split second before the deluge.... so that we sometimes get there in time... this is called training of the people not the dog. "hold it: is not yet in his vocabulary.... ( and as i have said before.... grabbing it to shut it off does not work.... i tried that in sams).
somehow... the seeing eye folk have the maneuver down pat-- and i have asked for hints at how that is done... to no avail..
i have seen teh blind person at the airport lead the dog to a grassy knoll.. one sniff and teh dog is emptied... and teh person even slides thier hand down the dogs back so they can llocate the pile and pick it up... pure poetry -- but how is that trained....??? most of my dogs feel it is an invqasion of their privacy to touch them in this process
i have searched for this answer for years... ever since i was in a hotel in toronto and my dog was wandering around the bedroom with "that" look.... i would have sold my soul to be able to put down a pee pad in the bathroom so with a fllush or toss i could have stayed in bed...
i am sure if i could figure out how this taining is accomplished i could ake a million dollars on the concept... then i could have pee pad dispensers $.25 cents like all the other 25 cent things in the ladies rooms....-- or mens rooms i suppose..
there is a need... fill it.
MY ONLY GOAL IS TO DONATE GREAT DOGS.... FREE OF CHARGE....TO HELP PEOPLE AS BEST I CAN. THIS INVOLVES WATCHING OUT FOR A NEW IDEA-- OR A TRAINING TECHNIQUE I HAD NOT THOUGHT OF.... OR UNDERSTOOD.
i constantly look for new workable ideas.... i must give credit to beth.....had"niko" the #1 agility dane in the country-- not only a dane..... but white... and deaf....she had anotherblack lab equally as well trained-- go think about that--i have spent hours talking to her-- and it did change a few ways we do things. i do not know of another as accomplished trainer. go back and think again. dane--- and deaf..... perfect communication.... faR above my capabilities........
