sept 3 2021

i even put air in my tires for the pick up at the airport of the czech dogs this afternoon.... the usual... bud driving....lynn+ someone???dianne??? it says 17 min late arrival ... and it has not taken off yet....talk about schedule!!!

you may watch it cross the ocean.  flightaware.com.... LH422
should be here for a late mail call...

i am very excited about these pups-- i have liked the dogs from this kennel for a long time. but had trouble getting thm here in an 8 hour trip....and looking at pure numbers it is not all that much more to import from responsible kennels in europe than to buy from american...so many times teh akc breeder, in a efforet to be r3sponsibel puts so many restriction on teh pup you are trying to buy, that is becomes prohibitive...between spay. neuter contracts and co ownership to complicate who owns what pup... europe is easier..

so far------ i hate to tempt fate.
------
my biggest problem is thqt veternarians-- both here and in europe, look over a pupppy --- eyes ears  heqrt etc... right thre in theri office. which is about 8' x 10'. making it impossible to see how the dog moves.... dog vets just don't look over that aspectand at one point we did get a pup with a slightly deformed leg-- not noticed by 3 dog vets-- noticed immediqately by me, janine, and brian ( horse vet). horse vets look for lameness-- horses are full of it...-- makes me wonder how we ever made it across the mississippi---

just fir chuckles--- how many times have yo heard me say. you can not own a horse for a month but it does not try and maime itself somehow-- ( and taxi puts her foot thru q hqy bqg in the firwt week!!0
back to dogs..... you better belkieve when these 2 pups come thru the door... you will all be "oooooooohing and ahhhhhhhing" and i will bre looking to be sure the both have 4 working legs.  it is a skill of mine not yet replaced in sdp.......-- janine-- with her vast knowledge of scanning horses in the kill pens... is pretty good at ti... and brian makes a living with it.. sso help is around.
---
ther is a possibility matt-- cowboy--- might have some skill aT IT.. HE CERTAINLY IS AN ANIMAL TRAINER-- AS I WATCH THE CONTEST BETWEEN MATT AND THE GOATS-- I CAN NOT SAY ANYONE HAS WON OR LOST YET... BUT IT IS AMUSING TO TRY AND DEAL WITH A NNIMQL THAG COSIDERS BANGING HEADS ON SOMETHING TH BEST FUN IN THE WORLD !! THERE IS A CONVERSATIONAL GAP HERE.... INTERESTING TO WATCH... HE DOES COME UP WITH SOME ACCURATE FARMER THINGS THAT WERE SAID TO HIM AS A CHILD................ LIKE  "I HAVE WATCHED YOU WALK OVER THAT PIECE OF TRASH 10 TIMES WITH OUT PICKING IT UP- HAVE YOU GONE BLIND???"

THAT CONVERSATION CAME UP AS WE BOTH SPOTTED WHAT WAS A CIGARETTE BUTT- WHERE THERE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN... IN FRONT OF THE ICU HOUSE....MY GUESS IS THE HAY DELIVERY TRUCK DRIVER PITCHED IT OUT HIS WINDOW AS HE BACKED TO THE BARN DOOR...
PLEASE GO BACK A MONTH OR TWO FOR MY DISSERTATION.....-- WHY RAKE HAY DROPPINGS JUST OUTSIDE THE BARN DOOR....

Well, we got out of COVID jail for over a month before we realized we needed to jump back in. Was that ever a fun time while it lasted! We had lots of family visitors and spent lots of time at his happy place, the beach. We actually ate at restaurants for the first time in a year and a half. I was a bit worried he'd forgotten the drill but he acted like we'd never stopped going out. He's amazing.
Ned also got a big new van that holds his giant Big Barker for road trips.  We went to New Orleans where Ned had his first river boat cruise then we also had his first cable car ride. He was less impressed with it as it is a pretty bumpy, swaying ride but he was so good. We walked about six miles a day there. Before Ned I couldn't have walked a quarter mile alone. He's opened new horizons I thought were closed forever.  We got the word in NOLA that my first grandchild was coming a bit early so we headed directly to Nashville and met little Arthur. The timing was good as I also had three days of doctor visits in Nashville the following week. Ned was as perfect as always.. It's so lovely to see how happy they always are to see him. Then we went to East Tennessee to visit friends and family. Along the way we stopped in Knoxville and went into a shop to stretch our legs. From across the store a lady asked if Ned was a service dog. When I said yes, she asked if I'd ever heard of Service Dog Project. When I told her who he was I thought she was going to cry.  She's a CP who never expected to meet one of our lovely dogs. We had such a great visit with her and will stop there next time we go through. We've now encountered CP's randomly in 4 states. When COVID cools down we plan to take more trips in Ned's van. I hope we continue to meet CP's so they can see first hand what a gift they give.Changing lives one chicken brick at a time.  ELL

I have no way to thank the Massachusetts power company, but I wanted to thank them for coming to Mississippi and Louisiana to help with this huge disaster. I am in Brandon, Mississippi, near Jackson. You are the only one I know in Massachusetts so I will thank you! Willard Harrell
