Desperate situations require desperate measures .. the pups are beginning to think all PEOPLE STARTING WITH Heather may not be bad ...thanks to string cheese ..THEY Are beginning to move along faster now welcoming people --after they first run away----- we may even try today to get them out into the front area which is carefully fenced .this is the kind of situation where if they got loose they would run and we wouldn't find him for a long time ------so we have to be very careful .. but they sold their souls this morning for string cheese so life is looking up .. and I have been working on spoon feeding .. doesn't seem like much of having the teacher dog to eat off a spoon but their Basic Instinct is to come down on top of food and eat it that doesn't work if it's not a spoon they have to learn to take the whole spoon in their mouth so I can wipe off the food on their upper teeth .. however these two being timid try to back off as I raise my hand up to wipe the food off on their teeth and then they missed the food .. new people don't realize the problems I have .. they're hungry they want to grab the food but they can't understand why they try and come down on top of it and then it gets on the floor and that ruins the point of WANT to be touching each other to fall asleep most of the time and I think that comes from the fact that they slept in a confined area where they were touching each other..
They certainly had a transition this morning as I made my coffee I had a stick of that cheese and I managed to get one piece of it in one of their mouths .. she went away and thought about it and decided that was a good thing it came back for more bringing her sister with her .. so 2 STICKS OF Cheese later and they're my best friend at the moment ...
I do not yet see why Goldie ....OUR ghost of the left hand drawer DECIDED to find these pups for us ..and how quickly we all assumed we will bring them around to our way of thinking very quickly .. well maybe we should be rethinking that to try and figure out who they are what they are and what we can do with it .
As we bring our puppies along to be what we consider perfect service dogs I cannot help but think there is an element here of the fact that 99% of all Danes are timid .. and they may not be as much trained as they are educated to figure out that everything is safe as long as they stay with their person .. Which is a whole new concept OF dog behavior/TRAINING..
To take that concept of who they are and what to do with it .. I can parallel several TV commercials I see FOR SAINT JUDES WONDERFUL Children's Hospital To that concept that I think needs to be questioned .. the commercial concentrates on children attempting to do things in spite of their handicap .. Mind you I am all foR kids with some challenge being put to a task at which they show some sign of excelling ...
Try this on for size .. why would you take a kid with one arm and try and make a softball player out of 'em WHEN THEY cannot really compete with two armed type kids .. but they could very easily be super successful at something like track OR field------ THE AD SHOWS a kid try to play the piano with something less than 10 fingers ..when it seems to me their music education WOULD be far more successful if they took up a slide trombone ..
.. THE AD DOES HAVE A FEW WELL CHOSEN DEMOS.. LOOK MA, I CAN RIDE A BIKE, I CAN RUN,, .... BALLET IS GREAT FOR THAT KID... ETC... I WOULD RATHER THE KIDS BE ENCOURAGED TO BUILD ON POSSIBLY SUCCESSFUL GOALS.. .BANGING SQUARE PEGS INTO ROUND HOLES IS DONE TOO OFTEN ---- -- ME TAKING LATIN IN HIGH SCHOOL TO IMPROVE MY SPELLING......!! A CLOSE SECOND WAS ME TRYING TO PLAY THE CLARINET WHEN MY FINGERS JUST DO NOT GO WITH WHAT MY EYES SEE. .A SURE SET UP FOR FAILURE IF THERE EVER WAS ONE.
THAT GOES FULL CIRCLE TO A CHILDS EDUCATION IS GEARED TO MAKE THEM INTO A COLLEGE PROFESSOR.. SO WE END UP WITH A Mediocre college professor who has a fantastic hobby of repairing antique autos.
Today the number of TV ads offering scholarships to colleges and universities just to get you started is A TRAP..... COLLEGE IS HAPPY, BANK IS HAPPY AND YOU ARE STUCK WITH A STUDENT LOAN ... THAT IS second only to the credit card fiascos where you end up paying 39% interest
So back to the puppies I don't know where we're going with them --- but remember we need the education as much as they do ....so please don't panic for the problems we are bound to have .
on a terrific ;Y POSITIVE note ... our chicken brick sales are far greater than I ever thought they would be over this holiday .. my Many thanks to all of those who bought a brick .or two or three ,
