JAN 10 2021 BARK GOAT

thanks to everyone for   many and varied concepts as to why the  usually very quiet dogs burst into a cacophony of barking .. and then stop and go back to being quiet.

in my half vast opinion...  dogs are a lot more reasonable than most people ..there is a reason  physical, sight, sound,or smell. and just out of curiosity on my part, i will continue to try and figure  out the SSS problem. lyne( THIS IS A DIFFERENT LYNN THAN THE LYNN AROUND HERE... i) s doing a phantastic job of doccumenting every noise....  we have months of "outside/bark reports "  just so you all know the details... i chose this one because it is somewhat typical and because it alerted us to the fact that dog in kennel #7 had some problem OFTEN OUTSIDE NOT DOING ANYTHING , NOT BARKKING,, PROBABLY  UNCOMFORTABLE  CONSTAPATED??....that deserved our attention... as for the noise part, it is one bark and  one half woof.AND 6 HOURS LATER ANOTHR SOFT WOOF...   remember this is a microphone which picks up rain and wind also.   i have months of these....

LYNE

i have not bothered.... but that aIRPLANE FLYING OVER AT 1:41 MIGHT BE SOME REGULARLY SCHEDULED FLIGHT

BECAUSE WORKING THRU THE MONTHS I HAVE  NOTICED BETWEEN1:40 AND 1:46  SHE  OFTEN NOTES THE  PLANE. NOISE.

LYNE DOES NOT MISS MUCH.

I will work with the many comments I have had from all you   CREATIVE camera people---- some of them hysterical some of theM  practical all of them interesting .

NOW.... THE GOAT REPORT...  AS IN  CYA--------to get on with life around here--- Lynn ,....not the SAME AS  barking reportLYNE...  --one of her chores at 5:00 o'clock is to make sure  all animals are warm fed have access to water and are basically where they belong ..  which is very simple with the dogs and then there's the collection of donkeys horses goats and occasionally a horned sterER  with gold balls on his horns .. someone had let Moe out to graze on the very little bit of grass that there is underneath my swing set ..

Moe is about 1800 pound draft mule let jeanine rescued .. she's very nice and is enjoying living out her retirement without too many requirements ..moE  will follow grain so  linNE  bEING  fairly new at our particular group of hoOve stock .. got a grAIN pail and offered it to  mo who then followed her as Lynn tried to open the door in the donkey cafe and put Moe through the door .. sound simple----  the door is a good 4 1/2 foot tall and it's a heavy wood door that I got from when somebody with a big fancy stable tore it down and I ran off with a bunch of doors ..point bEING  Lynn couldn't see over it so when she opened the door with one hand having a bucket of grain in the other she didn't notice that there were 3 goats---- snap crackle and pop --- ..on the other side that door so in the process of trying to get mow  IN  --- the three goats got out ----  the goats don't care whether they're in or out they want their head in that bucket of grain and they are very persistent unreasonably persistent and if they're annoyed theyBUTT  you t-----hat's not cute it hurts----   so now she had great big MOE trying to get through a door One Direction well three goats struggled to get their head in the grain bucket . The other goat instinct which she had not counted on was they have a distinct instinct to climb up on top of the nearest raised object , which unfortunately was linz back as she bent over trying to keep control of the grain  bucket and in the process  the goat got a front foot stuck in her back pocket ... thus pulling down her pants on camera ..   and she began to have the thought  WHICH you have often heard from your mother  “ don't wear that underwear ...if you have to go to the doctors they would be mortified to SEE THAT.. “  As she chose to use both hands to hold up her clothing as she ran for the barn door---- which is off camera--- leaving the three goats that MOE  behind ..

JUST ANOTHER TYPICAL EPISODE AT CRAZY ACRES

THAT KEEPING  AWAY FROM THE CAMERAS IS VERY CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE NIGHT I TOSSED MY “I HAVE FALLEN AND I CAN’T GETUP”  NECKLACE IN THE WASHING MACHINE... WHICH SET IT OFF AS  I SOAKED IN THE BATHTUB...  THE BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE AMBULANCE CALL IS IN THE KITCHEN... ON CAMERA

THIS PRESENTED JUST ANOTHER CREATIVE RESPONSE... OF THE TOSSING OF THE TOWEL....

OTHER THAN THATG .....

THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I  AM VERY THANKFUL TO HEAR THE SUCCESS OF OUR DOGS.... I WAS THRILLED WITH THIS ONE... GOLDIE DECIDED IT IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED...

"AND THE LITTLE CHILD WILL LEAD THEM"   I HOPE ALL OUR RECIPIENTS READ THIS...

Happy New Year!  We hope everyone is handling this strange new year well and we wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe 2021!

We know the SDP support system likes to stay updated on the service dogs and their recipients, which we are not great at maintaining.  I am not a facebook fan, so you will not see a facebook page set up for progress.  Today I uploaded some photos and videos to our family website so the SDP community can view them if they wish.  We will try to keep this site fresh every month.

Connor’s therapist and the school staff continue to praise Gretl and the improvements in Connor with her support.  We are still reminded of the “good days and bad days” comment when Gretl first came home, but the good days are great and the bad days are just brief moments in a day.  The bond continues to grow with Gretl and Connor and we continue to make adjustments as we evaluate their growth.  Connor is improving with control and has adjusted his training practices with the arrival of the cold weather (a lot of inside work).  Gretl has had a couple of accidents, but Connor is aware they are on him and he continues to learn the signs / signals and his need to pay attention to them.  Gretl is wonderful and a major asset in Connor’s life.  You have an amazing organization and we are thankful every day!

MOST KNOW..... GETTING A SERVICE DOG IS A PROCESS... IT IS NOT AN IMMEDIATE PERFECT SOLUTION... IT TAKES TIME, AND UNDERSTANDING TO DEVELOPE A WORKING RELATIONSHIP...  AND WHEN THE DOG DOES SOMETHING YOU DO NOT LIKE... YOU MUST TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHY...

THIS WILL SOUND VERRY STRANGE... BUT... ONE OF THE BIG REASONS OUR RECI[IENTS NEED AND GET A DOG ... IS THEY FALL// FREQUENTLY.. AND I ALWAYS POINT OUT   THEY WILL PROBABLY STI LL FALL.. BUT HOPE FU;LLY LESS OFTEN.----  THE PROBLEM IS.... IN THE EARLY STAGES... IF TEHY  FALL.. AND YELL.(. RIGHTLY SO... IT HURTS...) EVEN THO WE HAVE TRIED TO ACCUSTOM OUR GRADS TO THE YELL/FALL... SOMETIMES THE PERSON IS UPSET THAT THEY HAVE FALLEN... WHICH THEY ARE ENTITLED TO BE..AND THEY   CURSE AND SWEAR AS THEY SIT ON THE GROUND....... MY DIRECTION IS...  IF AT ALL POSSIBLE DON'T SHOW YOUR  DISPLEASURE... BECAUSE THE DOG WILL THINK THEY DID SOMETHING WRONG AND  STAY AWAY FROM YOU  INSTEAD OF HELPING YOU UP..
MY SOLUTION ----IF THAT HAS STARTED -----IS TO SPEND SOME TIME  SITTING ON THE FLOOR WITH TEH DOG WHILE YOU WATCH TV.. AND JUST TALK AND PAT AND REASSURE THE DOG..... AND KEEP THAT IN MIND  EVEN IS  YOU DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHY YOU  FELL.  THAT  DOG/FALL  CAN BE A WHICH CAME FIRST... THE CHICKEN OR HTE EGG... SITUATION.

I KNOW THIS IS TRUE.. BECAUSE WHEN I FALL AROUND HERE.. MY DRUNKEN SAILOR VOCABULARY MEANS THAT EVERY DOG WITHIN 1/4 A MILE RUNS THE OTHER DIRECTION...

SO AS THIS EMAIL ILLUSTRATES....  TAKE A LEAD FROM CONNOR...
AND CONNOR... PLEASE WRITE MORE OF THESE... BECAUSE YOUR EXPERIENCES MIGHT HELP OTHERS... INCLUDING ME.
