ONE SEMI INTERESTING SIDELINE.... SITTING IN TH E DARK FaCING THE REAR OF THE TRUCK... HE HAD SET HIS FLASHERS BLINKING .. A HUGE VIOLENT RED PAIR OF FLASHING LIGHTS.... I HAD TO ASK HIM TO TURN THEM OFF.....
WHICH BRINGS AN OTHER ----"INSTRUCTIVE STORY " ----TO MIND.. OUT OF MY ANCIENT HISTORY. YOU ALL KNOW I SPENT MY JUNIOR YEAR ABROAD AT UNIV OF EDINBURGH. ONE DAY O N THE COFFEE COMMON BULLITEN BOARD THERE WAS A NOTICE.
2021 1 16
The notice offered 5 shillings--- if you qualified ---- for students who could take part in some experiments AT the medical college ..of course we didn't even read the details but five shillings with a lot of money . So we (probably that Gwen person I talk about ) and I went got IN LINE Right away --- .. Joining at least 100 other people in line .
five shillings with a lot of money to students or anybody .. what we had to do was SIT ON A stool with a bunch of wires glued to our head and watch a light go on and off ...and if we “qualified” we could come back get the five shillings if we sat there for an hour .. out of the 300 people who eventually were tested .. five people were invited back and I was one of them . and I sat there for an hour with wires glued to my head and earned 5 shillings AND was very happy ----this was back in 1957 ...and I totally forgot about it until I was trying to ride a motor scooter across the country .. and I got well IN TO Pennsylvania before something happened and I was found wandering around A FIELD very confused ... the only reason I was found was my motor scooter was still lying on its side in the road still running.... .. several years later after many severe headaches I was given an E E G ... in other words I had wires all screwed to my head it had to sit and watch the light go on and off .. and it was determined that I had seizure activity .. and probably the fall off the motor scooter either caused the seizure activity or the Caesar activity made me fall off the motorscooter . It took me awhile to relate the flashing light bit to that episode in Scotland .. where I'm sure the Medical College we're experimenting either with the invention of the EEG or were trying to figure out what percentage of the general population had seizure activity and didn't know it ---------in which case it's 5 out of 300 ..
since the motorscooter episode I have been on dilantin have had no other seizures ... but I am aware of flashing lights bothering me so rather than take any chances specially well I'm driving a tractor I asked the FedEx driver to turn off his emergency flashers ..
Strobe lights are another thing of which I am very aware ... normal people might not recognize the fact that driving passed a bunch of trees with the sun on the other side gives you a very strong strobe light effect which I block away .
---
The only other semi related story .. is that in an effort to change medications I had to go a year without driving ... the way I solved that one was the go BUY A very nice yellow VW bug .. standard shift .. and I signed up with a local high school as a person with a senior driver license --- the MVB did not my remove my license they just told me not to drive .. I'd let kids learn to drive on my car wHILE I ran errands or delivered magazines .. IT WORKED... It also made me realize that being able to SOMEHOW get around I was still way ahead of somebody WHO COULD NOT....
There was a song Doris Day maybe ?? it's what you do with what you got and never mind how much you got .. wow that's an old one ------ Seems to me there is a much more intellectual way of conveying that which says something about being annoyed at not having shoes until you met someone who had no feet .. or something like that
-------
One other absolutely thrilling thing today --- to me----.. was i think i learned something i had not seen befor.....I saw somebody trying to hang a banner for the presidential whatever ,,and he basically had 2 yardsticks bolted together ..and he was putting the end where they were bolted together ... on the banner .. Several places along this very long banner .. it did look strange but I think the reason must have been he was making a triangle to be sure the banner was hanging absolutely perfectly straight in which case the second yardstick being the triangulation to make the vertical measurement absolutely correct .. I think .. unless somebody else could come up with a different reason ??? .. I was very pleased with myself to have thought of that and all the times with my crazy professor lectures TO DONNA'S schoolchildren I tried to install in their heads how useful a triangle is and how many times you see it and don't realize it makes all the difference ... I thought of another place where triangulation is being ignored =====that's in the Caribbean where they have horrendous rainfall and they do build houses with their roof at a pitch so the rain falls off but the wind will still blow over a rectangular house. The Caribbean must not have been blessed with the American Indian versION of a Tipi which might withstand an awful lot more than a rectangular living place ... there was a lot to be said for my TP project .. warm and dry were two of the Biggest assets .

moving on -- glad to get an email from the guy who built the swing set .. reporting that his son is doing beautifully with his dog ..
it is so critical for the CPS to hear stories like this so they continue to buy chicken bricks .. but it's even more critical for me to hear them because every once in awhile When the going gets tough I think what on earth have I got myself into ... and occasionally the going does get tough .. like right now one dog with enthusiastic diarrhea ..that could take the wind out of anybody's saILS
Hope you can accept my apology for not keeping in touch (not one of my strengths).
Ben and Roo are doing fantastic! Ben attends Hopkinton High School every day with Roo. She is truly a special dog. I continue to be amazed by Roo and the bond Ben and Roo have formed together. They are a remarkable team! Attached are a couple of pictures I took of them together last night.
We have zero behavioral issues with Roo. My only comment would be that Ben continues to use his short lead (leash) with Roo. When we started our training Megan told us we should expect to use the leash for the first 6 months. It’s been over a year now and I don’t think Ben needs it but he continues to use it. I think it’s more about gaining balance by having a second point of contact with Roo (two hands) more than using the lease for issuing corrections.
Ben has never stood straighter and with greater confidence then since he beginning working with Roo.
It has truly been a remarkable transformation.
What do you say after we get our hands on that vaccine you find us project around the farm that involves welding.
You and I can tackle it together and I will definitely find you a lady friendly welding helmet 😊.
