thanks to an applicant's father who came yseterday and
enlivened teh spreadsheet and letter writing ability of this machine
( after i had paid for itl,)
so i am almost a back to teh impossoible normal that was ...
and i am gettiong teh sdp records ready for 2020
which reminds me---- here we go... long but educational story...
one of the reasons there is SDP is that i worked for teh Want Ad magazine
mostly for 4 cents a copy sold north of teh charles river.
teh WantAd management had a real accountant who "did" south of the charles river
i hardly ever went to their office in sudbury- but one day tehy "called a meeting between this accountANT, the pres and me.i had computerized my "outfit" only because it was easier- and being lazy.. i did a good job at that.- so i ran off all the records i would need to answer any question the pres would have-- folded the piece of paper in the back pocket of my blue jeans and drove to sudbury...where i sat waiting with this accountant who was my counterpart..
he had polished shoes , blue suit and a brief case- my blue jeans had a very small hole( that i had EARNED.. i did not buy that BADGE OF HARD WORK)
THE ACCOUNTANT PULLED OUT THE IBM PRINTOUT FROM HIS BRIEFCASE 1/2 INCH THICK OF THAT OLD ACCORDIAN TYPE PAPER- IT WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE AS I UNFOLDED MY CRINKLED MESS-- IT WAS ONE OF THOSE GOD BLESS GOLDIE MOMENTS... I TOOK ONE LOOK AND SAID THAT HIS REPORT FOR THE SOUTH WAS WRONG--"I DON'T KNOW WHY IT I S BUT I CAN PROVE IN 10 SECONDS IT IS WRONG" PIECE OF CAKE.... THE MAGAZINF WHOLESALE SOLD FOR 86 CENTS AND HIS TOTAL WAS AN ODD NUMBER..
IMPOSSIBLE !!!! ( MINE WAS AT LEAST AN EVEN NUMBER...)
WE THEN SHIFTED TO THE FACT THT THERE WAS A CHAIN OF VARIETY STORES WHO CHARGED THEIR WEEKLY SALES AND HAD COMPLAINED THAT THE WANT AD BILLS WERE ALL SCREWY AND THEY NEEDED TEHN CLEANED UP QUICK-- THERE WAS $100,000 INVOLVED IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS OF SCREWY LOOKING INVOICES--
AGAIN GOD BLESS GOLDIE.... THE BILLS WERE SORTED JANUARY OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER. FEB MARCH... ETC.. THIS ACCOUNTABT HAD BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR MONTHS.... I WAS REALLY CONFIDENT BECAUSE I HAD MADE THAT MISTAKE SOOOOO OFTEN IN MY PROGRAMMING CAREER...... AND SAID," I THINK I CAN FIX IT AS SOON AS I GET BACK TO MY COMPUTER...." HIS PROGRAM WAS READING THE DATE 1,10,11,12,2,3,4,5 R-----READING THE NUMBERS LIKE THEY WERE LETTERS LIKE TEH PHONE BOOK SMITH, SMITHSON,SMITHSONIAN , ALL I HAD TO DO WAS CHANGE ONE WORD IN THE PROGRAM AND THE COMPUTERIZED BILLS ALL LOOKED NORMAL.IT WAS ABOUTTHEN THAT THE PRES SAID" I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD A COLLEGE DEGREE" -- WHICH DOESNT SAY ALOT FOR MY EDUCATION.... I HIDE IT WELL....-SO TEH WANT AD TOOK ME ALOT MORE SERIOUS AFTER THAT AND MY INCOME WENT FROM 2 CENTS A COPY TO 4 CENTS - A HUGE BOOST IN INCOME.... AND I NEVER HAD TO BUY A BUSINESS SUIT..ALL I HAD TO DO WAS KEEP THEIR NUMBRS GOING RIGHT AND THEY LEFT ME ALONE.

HOW DOES THIA AFFECT SDP 2020??? I HAVE TO SET UP DAILY TRAINING RECORDS TO BE SORTED...
SO IF JAN 1 IS 1.1 AND JAN 2 IS 1.2 THAT MEANS THA JAN 11,JAN 12,JAN 13 ARE ALL GOING TO BE SORTED BEFORE 1.2 AS 1.11,1.12,1.13 NORMALLY WOULD BE.-
SO JAN 2 HAS TO BE 1.02 AND LIFE WILL SORT CORRECTLY .
THAT PIECE OF INFORMATION MADE ME AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF MONEY.
P.S. TEH LAUNDRY BUILDING WAS ONCE TEH DEPOSITORY FOR MY WEEKLY SUPPLY OF SOME 16,000 MAGAZINES...-- AND THEN THERE WAS EBAY-- AND I WAS OUT OF A DARN GOOD JPOB !!

I HAD 3 RESPONSES FROM PEOPLE SITTING IN THE BATHTUB END WITH THE TAPS-- INTERESTINGLY 2 WERE TWINS

it was with great humor I read today, DD about the bathtub. I also sat at the end with the taps, as when my sister and I were kids, and growing up rather 'not wealthy' my mom gave us baths at the same time. Being the younger child, I had to sit with my back to the taps, and I thought into my adult life that is how it's supposed to be. After I got married, I decided to take a long hot bath one night, and my husband came into the bathroom and saw me sitting that way. He asked why, and I told him that was the way it always was, and I didn't think about why I was there. He got a good laugh and asked me how I could relax in the tub as I couldn't put my back against anything to relax. I had no answer, and that was the last bath I took. That was 48 years ago !
Thank you for that funny memory, it started my day off with a laugh !
