SADDLES.....JANINE MAY RIDE WITHOUT ONE.... BUT NOT THIS OLD GAL.....  I TOOK  THE TAXI OUT FOR A WALKABOUT- WITH ME ON THE GOLF CART... SHE WAS NEARLY PERFECTLY BEHAVED.... BUT THERE IS NO WAY I WOUl D  HOP ON WITHOUT LOTSA LEATHER TO HOLD ONTO....

SO I STARTED IN... ON LINE...--  FYI-- WHAT ONCE WAS $200 is now  $3000--- teh last western saddle i boutght was $200 out of someone's trunk. 1970- was never too sure how it got there- not to worry....it was nice design. but  huge... 19 inch seat  whih was generous even for me.....  that saddle was in teh debris  of teh arena collapse--- any saddle i used after tht was janine's english style-- not my favorite-- so online..... i found a Wintec saddle---- on dover saddle catalog....  - fake leather-- hose it off---lightweight for old folk to get it on the horse...  17 inch-- sounded good  $399-- i pushed that paypal button and thought i was done.
except. GOLDIE. got in th e  deal....

before  looking for a saddle onoline.   i had called windrush farm--riding for the handicap program... to see if they might have a western saddle someone gave them---( they are teh purist english riding crew... but....)   just after i ordered teh wintec one.. they returned the call... they were haveing a tack sal this next weekend... and yse- therre was a western saddle "in the pile".  -- nice but needed cleaning....$40..   these are lovely people... i've known them for years but i have to admit they look down their nose at western riding.... ( me)  there was always the chance that  they ahd a $3000 saddle and did not know it.... so i made an apt to go look at it today ( tuesday)  figuring i might still be better off with  the lightweight old folks saddle.... but they are only 5 miles away...
i check my emial first thing.. and online  dover saddle had a message they were out of the 17 inch ones... sorry.... so now  i am really interested in windrush's  saddle  "in the pile".   windrush does have wealthy friends...  maybe goldie found me at bargain.

windrush theraputic riding-- long story-- started by  "marge" 30 years before sdp....  i got involved the day she lost 8 of her  horses due to a freak electrical accident... an electric pole on the street had fallen-- and the wires had touched her electric fence-- scaring the horses who paniced and ran for the gate-- as they  squezzed thru they touched side to side and were electrocuted --- all dropped dead on teh spot.  she had an active student program.. so the call went out for  special horses that she couold use with kids... i happened to have one "tachycardia"  and it was the first horse she accepted back-- tachy was around there.  for years-- tehn one day he got tired of it.. so she gave him back for him to retire with us.  since then i have donated  another horse- different story..
marge was 30 years ahead of me...and she never forgave me for riding western.....something about couth and uncouth.   western ridign was designed for people who had to spend 8- 10 hours a day in the saddle working cattle.  engilsh was more for the elite to ride around a for an hour a day.... smilling alot...

couth and uncouth--- split rail fencing is wonderful looking. and much more "couth" than teh "uncouth" wire fencing. however wire fencing would keep horses definitely inside for 50 years split rails  will begin to  drop rails after about 25... wellllll our split rails are about 30 years old -- and would make better firewood than horse fencing...- a wonderful horse friend gave us some money to upgrade our fencing,,,,   which in many cases is "replace entirely...."  haveing figured that uncouth  6 foot  wire is more seonomical than the split rail, we are transitioning.. where in some cases it is wire along split rail til we get teh split rail out of there-- which is the uncouthest of all uncouth's--- teh 6 foot wire does keep the dogs where you expect them to be...
with some redesign every  doggie appartment will now consist of downstairs-- upstairs... patio... then a shared exercise area involving a steep hill. which is why our dogs are all muscled up....   these exercise pens are designed to be long thin running areas. costing much more fence than a square exercise area..---we could never do it with the  split rail. but with the wire, we are almost done...  goal being sept first.

the puppy tipi pen was most successful sunday. with pups circling the tipi and  running inside to get out of the sun...both people and pups enjoyed teh tipi....

i have to admit the latest litters ( of teh 2 and 4 pups).is back to having  super training in that they follow the leader ( with the spoonfed food) for a while there,    our spoon fed training went out the window as too time consuming. so that to rtry and run the group of dogs was  a disgraceful display ... now. these 2 llitters  are perfect when it comes to follow the leader.. skipping details will get you eventually.

to have you "CP's" comment on horse problmes or dogs is wonderful-- but it works best if you just point out the problem and leave it to us to solve what needs to be solved... the last horse episode was perfect -- horse foot stuck-- i ran in my jamies--- but then i slowed up. considerably ----only one person said i moved too slowly..... it ws a person who has no idea the force beehind one leg of a horse... but i got there.... ther apparentky was someone who did not  like teh way anna was handed and go t into being critical... which encourages anyone w ih a negative impules. to get involved,-- much better just to send me the video with (is this too rough??    and let us decide what to do--- otherwise ther gets to be a feeding frenzy of information that gets out of hand... boy  do i understand that one !!
anna's  sore leg is caused by an infection in the joint-- which in no way could have been caused by a person or another dog....-- and she will be back at the vet on thrus for some  treatment...  relax
