ok... todays discussion is on hay and water..... --i think we had a problem yesterday-- i knew our cowboy ws busy somewhere and he called to ask if i would feed.. and he woud pick up the stalls when he got here... ffine no problem..-- i hayed ,grained and watered in the m orning...no problem... and waTered mid day-- tehn he called just before mail call--- he woudl get here after -- would i throw our some feed.-so 4:30 i ran down- and found a very responsibel volunteer had been asked to go feed-- by whom i do not know...and she was doing that---since teh animals like the grain so much she ws verry generous with the grain...now if i had not seen her do that and come down to feed the usual amt ON TOP OF WHAT SHE FED... THE HORSES WOULD GOBBL EIT DOWN -- we quite possibly could have had very sick. or dead horse or goats by the next day. ( donkeys will not overeat... horses will) -- i do not know who has decided they want to run this barn, but that was a very serious mistake-- caused by the faCT THAT IN SOMEONE'S OPINION TEH STALL WAS NOT PICKED UP AND WAS "FILTHY" - YOU FOLK DON'T KNOW WHAT A FILTHY STALL IS...I HAVE SEEN STALL THAT ARE "DONE" MONTHLY. .... IF THAT.....DARK BROWN /BLACK. ----- THE REST OF THE. TIME THE DRY MANURE JUST COLLECTS...SO TO PULL AN ALARM BELL BECAUSE SOMEOEN WAS 8 HOURS LATE IN PICKING UP THE STALL WAS TOTALY UNCALLED FOR...
WAY OFF THERE IN CAMERA LAND,,, YOU GUYS GET SOME IDEA AND RUN WITH IT.... NOT HAVING THE EXPERIENCE TO DO OTHERWISE....
YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THE RAISING OF ANIMALS HAS TO TAKE SOME RISK....IF WE KEPT ALL OUR PUPS IN CAGES THEY WEOUD BE VERY SAFE... AND MISERABLE... SO WE TAKE AA CALCULATED RISK-- I ALSO TAUGHT MY CHILDREN TO RIDE THEIR BIKEWS ON THE ROAD--- IN HELMETS... AT A VERY EARLY AGE... RISKY BUT USEFUL.----BIKES WERE TRANSPORTATION, NOT TOYS. SO WIH ANIMALS THEER HAS TO BE A CALCULATED RISK.....
I HAVE SAID IN TEH PAST... YOU CAN REWATER SCRUBB BUCKETS -- THROW HAY IN THE STALLS-- THAT WILL ONLY COST MONEY, BUT WILL BE SAFE...TO DISH OUT GRAIN COULD BE A DISASTER.. ESPECIALLY IF YOU GRAINED BUT DID NOT HAY-- IF I GO DOWN AND SEE THT THEY ALL HAVE HAY AND WATER, #1 I KNOW THAT IS ALL THEY NEED. AND #2. THE EXPERIENCED HORSEMAN WILL ASSUME THEY HAVE HAD GRAIN SO THAT THEY DON'T GET DOUBLE.
THEY WILL LIVE VERY NICELY ON HAY AND WATER--- THE GRAIN, CARROTS , APPLES AND OTHER TREATS IS NOT CRITICAL TO THIER WELL BEING.AND THROWING HAY ON THE FLOOR IS NEARLY NORMAL IN MANY BARNS... HAY BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS-- SO IF YOU ARE UNBELIEVELABLY WORRIED... SEND SOMEONE TO WATER AND HAY--
BUT DO NOT TOUCH THE GRAIN.

NEXT TOPIC... WATER AND SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE WOOD.
IN MESSING AABOUT WITHTHE WTER YESTERDY-- TAXI HAS 3 BIG BUCKETS QAND FREEDON HAS 2-- AND AT NOON THEY WERE ALL EMPTY AFTER I HAD FILLED TEHM AT BREAKFASE.... HOT DAY... SO I DECIDED TO RE THINK TEH DIP AND CARRY BUCKET ARRAINGEMENT.
WATER COMES INTO THE FEED ROOM--- FROM A PIPE 5'. DEEP. WITH A "GATE VALVE." ..( A HNDLE THING THAT SHUTS WATER OFF AND DRAINS THE PIP FROM 5' DOWN...) IT THEN RUNS ALONG THE INSIDE WAL THRUKENNELS 1 THRU 10--- WITH A WINTEIZED HANDLE OUTSIDE EACH STQLL WHICH YOU CAN SEE ON THE PUPPY HILL CAMERA...--IT TOO K ME YEARS, BUT I FINALLY REQLIZED KENNELS 1 THRU 10 ARE HEATED SO I CN RUN PIPES THRU THEM OUT TO TH E ALLEYWAY OF TEH HORSES- AND AGAIN HAVE A WINTERIZED FAUCET. WITH A 10 FOOT HOSE I WILL NOT HAVE TO CARRY ANY WATER BUCKETS AT ALL..( EXCEPT TO EMPTY THEM. IF NECESSARY) BU THE TIME I GOT INTERUPTED65 TIMES ... I WS STILL AT THAT SIMPLE PROJET AT NAP TIME.
SO THAT IS ON THE DOCKET FIRST THING TODAY...
HOW TO CONNECT SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE????? THERE IS A WALL, JUST INSIDE THE BARN, I THOUGHT MAYBE I COUOLD HNG MY DDDLE ON....IT IS CURRENTLY COVERED WITH TINFOIL INSULLATION AND A PLASTIC SHEET. -- SO I CUT INTOTHE SHEET ONLY TO FIND-- NO WALL... JUST ALL TH IS INSULATION... AND PLASTIC...
I KNOW IN TANNERS BARN I HAVE SAVED THEI SOUTHERN YELOW PINE AS WE3 TOOK DOWN WALLS AND PUT UP OTHER.. TO GO FROM HORSE TO DOG OPERTION...I AM PRETTU SURE. THERE IS ENOUGH PINE THERE--- THAT SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE ISS REALLY TOUGH STUFF--- AND HEAVY.... AND EXPENSIVE... I NEVER WOULD HAVE THROWN ANY AWAY....
SO WHAT STARTED AS A SIMPLW WATER PROB. BECAME CARPENTRY.
I REMEMBER....
TWAS ON A MONDAY MORNING THE GAS MAN CAME TO CALL
T'was on the Monday morning, the gas man came to call,
The gas tap wouldn't turn, I wasn't getting gas at all;
He tore out all the skirting boards to try and find the main,
And I had to call a carpenter to put them back again!
Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do...
T'was on the Tuesday morning, the carpenter came round:
He hammered and he chiseled and he said "Look what I've found!
Your joists are full of dry rot, but I'll put them all to rights!"
Then he nailed right through a cable and out went all the lights!
Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do...
T'was on a Wednesday morning, the electrician came:
He called me 'Mr. Sanderson', which isn't quite the name;
He couldn't reach the fuse box without standing on the bin,
And his foot went through a window, so I called the glazier in!
Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do...
T'was on the Thursday morning, the glazier came along
With his blowtorch, and his putty, and his merry glazier's song;
He put another pane in, it took no time at all
But I had to get a painter in to come and paint the wall!
Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do...
T'was on a Friday morning the painter made a start,
With undercoats and overcoats he painted every part,
Every nook and every cranny; but I found when he was gone
He'd painted over the gas tap and I couldn't turn it on!
Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do...
On Saturday and Sunday they do no work at all;
So it was on the Monday morning that the gas man came to call!

This guy!!!! finn.
He’s a super star ⭐️
My sister had a stroke late last year. Eve and her are both receiving therapy at the same facility and often our appointments overlap. Today, Finn was laying next to Eve but my sister, halfway across the room was working on steps with less support, she fell (although not completely since she was in a safety harness) Finn literally flew across the room to her as though to get underneath to catch the fall. I could barely get him out of the way so that the therapist could get her back on her feet! Just amazes me because he can be intimidated by new sounds and the harness was “alarming”. While strange or new things can be concerning to him it has never kept him from doing his job with Eve and in this case he went right to it as though he knew she needed help. Seriously he almost went right between her legs despite the fact had she gone all the way down she would have landed on him!
He continued to stay alert to all of her movements for the rest of the appt.
Good news regarding Eve’s nerve damage too! Today she was able to slightly lift her hand up from the table! Something she couldn’t do last week! Hooray!
