`VOLUNTEERS ARE SOOOOO CRITICAL TO OUR EFFORTS.. BOTH MINE AND JANINE'S WITH THE EQUINE RESCUE NETWORK.....THE CHEERFUL HAPPY,ENERGETIC SOULS WHO KEEP US GOING ARE GREAT FUN... AND ALLOW US TO DO AA GREAT JOPB, EXPAND AND GROW ( YOU GOTTA KNOW THERE IS A ----BUT--- COMING)
HOWEVER..... MAYBE IT IS THE COV-- THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ABUNDANCE OF "OH WOE IS ME-- LET ME FIND EVERYTHING... ANYTHING...ABOUT WHICH I CAN COMPLAIN AND DECIDE I WOULD RUN THE OPERATION ENTIRELY DIFFERENTLY ." IF JANINE WOULD JUST RESCUE HEALTHY LOOKING HORSES THEN WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH DRIPPING GOOPY NOSES -- CAREFULLY QUARENTINED \AWAY IN SOME CORNER SO WE HAVE TO HAY AND WATER A WHOLE SECOND BUNCH OF ANIMALS"
BECAUSE JANINE HAS ACCESS TO SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PASTURES IN ALL OF NEW ENGLAND----SHE IS VERY INCLINED TO BID ON SOME POOR OLD HORSE WHO SPENT HIS LIFE PULLING A PLOW, GETTING SORES ALL OVER FROM THE HARNESS.... SKIN AND BONES FROM LACK OF FOOD (OR CARE OF TEETH). AND SHE BUYS THEM " TO GIVE THE POOR THING A COMFORTABLE FEW MONTHS AS A "WAY OUT"-- AND HER SUPPORTERS HAPPILY PAY FOR BRIAN TO DO. THE VERY BASIC HORSEMANSHIP THINGS- THEN PROVIDE GOOD CARE--- SOMETIMES HERE AT CRAZY ACRES--- SOMETIMES JUST TURN OUT ON GREEN GRASS...
THERE ARE 1000 REASONS HOW THAT WHOLE PROCESS COULD BE EASIER... HOWEVR THAT IS NOT THE REASON SHE IS DOING THIS-- OR THAT WE , IN SOME SMALL MEASURE ARE HELPING.... BY SOMETIMES KEEPING THE MORE INFIRM HERE IN "TANNERS SHED" AWAY FROM THE OTHERS, TIL THEY RECOVER FROM WHATEVER---- SOMETIMES INCLUDING PREGNANCY...
REST ASSURED....I PERSONALLY PAY FOR ALL THE EQUINE EXPENSES-- AND THEY ARE NO DRAIN WHATSO EVER ON SDP... THERE MAY BE TIMEW WHEN I ASK A SDP EMPLOYEE TO DUMP A BAG OF GRAIN - OR CHECK AND REFIL A WATER BUCKET-- BUT WHEN THE 100 BALES OF HAY ARRIVES, IT IS MY NICKEL.
IT IS A HUGE LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR TEH CAMERA PEOPLE TO WATCH AND SEE WHAT IT TAKES TO COPE WITH A 1000 POUND ANIMAL- AND MANY TIMES KIND OF GLUE ONE BACK TOGETHER.... WITH GOOD FOOD, MEDICINE AND LACK OF STRESS.
TO HAVE VOLUNTEERS WHO APPROACH THE MOST IMPOSSIBLE SITUTIONS CHEERFULLY IS A HUGE RELIEF FOR EVERYONE. ONE THING THAT COMES TO MIND IS TEH TIME THERE WAS A TERRIBLY SICK DONKEY--- UNDER DAILY VET CARE---- THAT THEY HAD TO TRY AND MAKE HIM STAY ON HIS FEET AND NOT LIE DOWN--- A VOLUNTEER QUICKLY BUILT A HUGE TRIPOD OF ALUMINUM GIRDERS AND THEY BUILT A SLING TO KEEP THE DONK "ON HIS FEET..." HE DID SURVIVE, BUT SOME " ANIMAL INSPECTOR". WHO WALKED IN ON THE OPERATION HAD A FIELD DAY BECAUSE TEHRE WAS NOTHING IN TH BOOK OF DIRECTIONS ABOUT HAVING A HALF DEAD DONKEY HANGING IN YOUR GARAGE.... BUT HE MADE IT
ANOTHER THAT IS SO PAINFUL IS TEH PERSON WHO VOLUNTEERS ONE DAY A WEEK AND FIGURES OUT THAT "THERE ARE PROBLEMS". THEY KNOW EVERYTHING. THERE IS TO KNOW.... AND WANT TO MAKE CHANGES...
THE SDP VOLUNTEERS ARE SUBJECT TO A DIFFERENT PROBLEM I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW OFTER. YOU GET. """ SO YOU WORK AT SERVICE DOG PROJECT MAYBE YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT TO DO ABOUT MY PROBLEM DOG" --WHEN THE BIGGEST THING YOU DO THERE IS PICK UP POO IN THE PASTURES.
IN TALKIING WITH T EH RIDING FOR THE HANDICAPPED FACILITY... THEY TOO HAVE THEIR PROBLEMS WITH NEGATIVITY WHICH SEEMS WORSE LATELY.... PEOPLE ARE STRESSED....---
