These friday "classes for *sses" was -- again fun and eductional-- in the pouring rain.. we resorted to the t tent and demonstrated the splicing of ropes... practicing o n the cheap red -- then blue... and some graduated to having the white cotton expensive lovely rope..... putting a ring at one end...
there is an old Scottish tradition of a rope with a ring-- and why----- when you are out wandering the moors ----- you should always have one with you in case you come to a lost cow that you might have to walk home. or in the case of crazy acres, a gate that needs tying shut...--i am still pushing the books.... "sea for breakfast" and "the hills is lonely". which go before teh "rope with a ring"-- one of teh members of teh classes for *sses is from scotland and. has lived in the situation of these books--- it is fun to listen to her accent-- whatever she says !!!
------
since our "chef for seniors" had takje bnt e. day off on tuesday,,, we had no food hanging around in the fridge... so i went to the store... it was such an upliftinig experience to go and pick up a loaf of bread--- how exciting.........i can relate to these people getting our dogs who for a very long time could not get to the store on their own..... some because of a 6 inch curb where there is no hand rail--- from a kid on the. beach by himself for the first time to a veteran wandering around in the back of walmart without an escort... it is appalling what we take for granted.
----
i bought one of those bbq chickens -- such a treat---
and ---- i remembered....... what happened to the sunday stew i used to make over teh open fire in teh t tent--- v3ery simply a cast iron pot... lumps of chicken.. bags oif carrots. annd tiny potatoes-- add one bottle of honey mustard salad dressing and let her rip for an hour ot two...and it was goooood....
totally eatable with one fork and out of a coffee cup... every sunday..... i keep buying iron pots to do it again. but can not seem to get the whole thing together.
then. i thought i would try with and electric pot -- which sits on my counter in full view of the cameras so if someone. borrows it the cp's will let me know..... last night i suggested lindsay try and do up a pot next time she is here overnight. -- newman's honey mustard--- it was goood .
----
so back to being. "challanged". i thought it would be educational for every high school kid to spend 24 hours with one hand immobilized somehow. or if that is too much for the legal defense team... wrap up one thumb on your dominant hand---and try and open a jar of peanut butter... or put each kid in a wheelchair at the 6" curb keepng them out of the supermarket..
------
? challanged??? i remember.... on the set of a commercial one day ... i met a woman...-- there is the first challange--- who was black---- there is the second----- and was a member of the fire department. --- boy was i impressed with her. determination--( and skill set ) i wonder where she is now.
---
speaking of skill sets... have you all been aware of the spelling champ--- with the basketballs??????? odd skills which will hopefully propel her to harvard..
-----
i went thru a phase of tryihg to get my 4h club to all be able to juggle. -- does not take expensive equipment--- 3 pair of old sox will do it. so why don't more kids learn-- or at least try to.???
i dunno

I haven't written in a while and wanted to reach out and say howdy. My family and I (including one of our nephews) went to the Cincinnati Reds single A team, the Dayton Dragons. We got lawn seats so we could lay out blankets and relax. This is the second game we've gone to this year.
Charlotte was a great sport and surprised a handful of people as they passed by on the sidewalk. We did see a service dog in training and Charlotte was just bemused once she realized what it was. During the 6th inning break Charlotte and I got up and apparently we ended up on the big screen for a few seconds. For that time we were able to show what SDP dogs can do. Charlotte braced me and helped me rise from the grass. I don't like to draw attention but I'm proud of our teamwork.
