soooo many helpful people-- we spend an awful lot of time trying to FIGURE OUT WHO WILL SCOOP 200 DISHES OF ICE CREAM AND WHO'S ARM COULD MANAGE------ BUT WHEN LAURA stood there with 5 contaINERS OF ICE CREAM 4 OTHER PEOPLE CAME RIGHT ALONG TO HELP SCOOP-- NOT A PROBLEM... WHY WE EVEN CONSIDERED HIRING A ICECREAM TRUCK, I DO NOT KNOW,.-- THERE IS A BIG LESSON THERE..
SDP IS NOT A PLACE YOU GO TO GET WAITED ON--- IT AIN'T NO SPA...YOU CAN NEVER SAY "WE SAt by the pool and sipped martini's from dawn to dusk..." it is more like...." i was teh one to locate a carton of papercups behind the tractor so we all could eat terriffic meatballs someone brought from new jersey" and / or " there was enough room to get out of the rain... we had a choice of too hot near the fire or not quite warm enough around the one table."
every year we have a discussion about putting up more tents and providing lush accomodations... like chairs.. i would hate to lose the "do it yourself" atmosphere --i would also hate to pay for the help to do all teh things we need to get done for dogfest..
i see it more has having the pieces in place for things to happen... like firewood.

problem there is teh topsfield fair-- which takes ove all the hotels for miles around and the fair involved teh monday holiday of ?? columbus day??

sunday morning ... it was cold and clammy in the shade front of the g tent-- til someone noticed the sun over by the donkeys- and people got up and rolled their round tables 100 feet to the sunlight. i saw that happening and thought -- now that is right !!
i have to admit i saw it from my heated golf cart ( toyota sequioa) - my excuse was to bring bentley down for photo ops out the back window... i eventually went back to my ezgo.

the highlight was ... easily the talk scot gave on sat--- and again on sunday for those who missed saturday.. you can find his talk by googling scott dash mess into a message
in his talk he got a bit emotional at one point- and his dog dash got up from the sidelines and went to him and circled him before going back to lying down... i have been told they do that- and i have often thought someone was being overly sentimental abotu it.. but i saw dash do it for absolutely no other reason than scot was upset. he says in the talk that he came to sdp and met me--- abd came back 2 days later when i knew more about him.. what he didn't say was i had had a $99 cory check done on him.. because he told me he was an alchololic, had tried to hang himself and therr was a warrent out for his arrest-- if those were his talking points, i needed to find out quickly if he had anythinng in his past that i would consider a real problem... dash liked him-- who was i to question her decision?
