MY BIGGEST SHOCKER OF THE WEEEKEND WAS 2 PEOPLE WHO HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE CHICKEN BIT WAS ALL ABOUT...   OUR MAJOR SUPPORT-- AND THEY HAD NEVER LOOKED INTO IT...

THERE ARE SOOOOOO M\ANY PEOPLE ADICTED TO THE DOGS AND PUPS WHO DO NOT REALIZE IT IS A STRANGE COOPERATIVE  THAT  NEEDS THE SUPPORT OF THE FOLLOWERS.
TO TH E TUNE OF $10 A  MONTH IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT-- MORE IF YOU CAN...

THIS WAS A DISCUSSION OF THE WEEKEND--- SINCE CAMERAS CAME ON WE HAVE MORE THAN TRIPPLED OUR "ADDICTS"  BUT WE HAVE NOT INCREASED THE NUMBER OF BRICKS ON OUR WALL--- IF ALL OF YOU BRICK BUYERS (BB's) WOULD GET ONE MORE PERSON A MONTH FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS TO BECOME ADDICTED AND BECOME A BB  LIFE WOULD BE ALOT EASIER AROUND HERE....

THERE WERE  A FEW OTHER SUGGESTIONS THAT CAME OUT  OF TEH WEEKEND PERTAINING TO THE CHICKEN BIT.... WHICH I WILL TAKE UP WITH THE MANAGER OF THE WALL-- THINGS LIKE PAYPAL ...

FARMTEK CAME THRU WITH THE RED DOT GLOVES---AND I THINK MARK GOT A PICTURE OF US WEARING THEM..

TINA JUST CAME IN AND SUGGESTED I PUT IN HER SPEECH AS THE CUT AND PASTE OF THE DAY...SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.

We came to Service Dog Project for the puppies.  We learned about the mission.  We stayed because of the people (and the puppies).  Carlene, the staff and all the volunteers at SDP are just plain "good folks".  They make us smile and laugh until we need wee wee pads.  They make us want to be a better people, we are in awe of their selflessness.  They accept any help from anyone in any way to achieve their goal.  We are lucky to learn something new each day.

We are amazed at the intelligence of the Danes and how good they are at assisting their partners and we love hearing stories about their lives together.  We love seeing the level of care given to each and every animal, whether they are just born, in training, in retirement or somewhere in between and we wish all dogs could be this fortunate.

In some cases, recipients remind us of ourselves or family members or friends with mobility or other issues – seeing lives change is amazing – people gaining confidence, courage and companionship.  Many of us have family members in the military, either past or present, and that is an added connection.

This is as real as it gets, entirely unscripted (except for some of the mail calls!) and is some of the most important work on the planet.  It touches us deeply and we are attending Dog Fest to commune with others that share our passion for dogs and respect for their intelligence and potential and who appreciate the constant education, plain-speaking and thoughtful approaches to the daily challenges for Carlene and her dedicated crew.

We have all come together as a family – SDP staff, volunteers, CPs… We have helped each other through losses of family members including pets, through illnesses and hospital stays… We have cheered and cried together, and we know that as a group we can move mountains.  Our faith in human kindness and compassion has been renewed.  When a call goes out from SDP for volunteers or supplies, they appear like magic.  When a CP is struggling, support is given freely.  When a dog, cat or donkey needs rescuing or surgery, we’re there to get the job done.  SDP embodies unconditional love, the value of each life, what can grow from someone who believes, the power of volunteerism and proves that education is in every experience and must be shared.  It also proves that miles do not lessen the depth of reaching out.

A quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson - To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded.

Thank you to Carlene and all the hands that assist you, either at SDP or those miles away.  We hope that you enjoy these gifts…
