i am struggling with this 990  and the audit required for  2013...

we are caught in the middle--- because we had so much money  in 2013 we are over the limit and need an official audit-- done by a  "disinterested party"-- it can not be someone on our board...  i have listed all the accountant firms in the north shore area--- and are getting estimates--- some of these people have been very nice... but the estimates have been as high as $14,000.  that is  what it cost to train one dog...

the fact remains, we have til nov 15th to  get this audit done---

i think it would be simple  we have only  one checking account- everything goes thru it... and we have the bank statements--  have at it    !!

now the bad part-- every check i write is catagorized --  101 is auto  381 is utilities etc-- and if it was a simple spread sheet it would be simple-- but i used  quicken--- which ,makes "suggestions" that drive me nuts and produce some amazing errors..-- in 2013 it seemed to like the number 285  and would add it to many split transactions, then stuff it somewhere where  you could not find it easily-- which meant any entry of 28.50... 2.85 or 570.00  (twice 285)   855(3 times 285)  which also meant   57.00 and 85.50  or 8.55 was suspect.. 

but i made it thru 2013... i think..

encouraging words from one cpa  "material difference"  indicating they might have a practical nature to the audit  because ---- in my 101 catagory is gas and auto repair...---- now if we get an auditor who wants to identify  every exact  expense and i need to find all th e old invoices....    they would be in the file

 the file... that is where you loose things alphabetically...  and in my case i loose the entire file... theresa tries.... it is not easy

and then there is the american exp  credit card--- it would be possible to go thru all of them and id  the home depot construction charges vs the gas expense... but i just glanced and aproximated  the split...  they were all sdp expenses...  the difference between tires and gas... is of zero interest to financial planning...

but an auditor could get awkward... 

there is a broadway show tune about giving up his #2 pencil and quitting.

i can not quit-- no 990 =  no 501 c 3 =  no charity deduction  =  no money

i am  thrilled,  well i do like suduko puzzles-- this is not much different.

the next ADI email from the convention in denver--- there is some feeling that a person who is adi accredited should not be giving training info without being sure it agrees with the official training proceedures..

well that would be me  writing this daily doggie...

to change the  numbers tune....

we need to worm the bunch-- and from the ADI conventions i found alot of  programs use
Allwormer-- from australia  and i need ot order more 

 there is a jar of 70 pills for $363 -each pill treats 88 pounds of dog

and 25 pills are $136 for the 88# -- then there is the 40 pills for $63 each pil treating a 22# dog and 100 for $153 -----which is best??

an tehre is no shipping charges for the next 3 days.

who said these kids should not have to take algebra?????

HELLO CARLENE,

HOPE ALL IS WELL AT CRAZY ACRES! JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU A LYDIA UPDATE. WE/SHE IS DOING SO WELL. HER FEAR OF TRAFFIC IS LESSENING, AS I WALK HER EVERYDAY ALONG OUR MAIN STREET DURING THE BUSY TIME IN THE MORNINGS. BIG TRUCKS AN NOISE ARE THE ISSUE, BUT I JUST KEEP REASSURING HER ALL IS OKAY.

THE SQUIRREL ISSUE IS STILL THERE, BUT WHAT DOG WOULDN'T WANT TO CHASE A SQUIRREL? SHE DOESN'T DRAG ME AWAY TO GO GET IT, SO I CONSIDER THAT A GOOD THING :~) I JUST KEEP SNAPPING AND RELEASING HER CHAIN TELLING HER TO LEAVE IT..OF COURSE THE LITTLE BUGGERS ARE STORING UP FOR THE WINTER SO THEY ARE EVEN ALONG OUR MAIN STREET, LETTING US GET VERY CLOSE BEFORE THEY RUN UP THE TREES.

LAST NIGHT I TOOK HER TO MY SONS OPEN HOUSE AT HIS HIGH SCHOOL. WE HAD TO MEET IN THE AUDITORIUM, SO WE GOT THERE EARLY AND GOT A SEAT IN THE BOTTOM ROW SO SHE COULD LAY DOWN COMFORTABLY..SHE WAS VERY NERVOUS WHEN PEOPLE WERE WALKING IN AS IT APPEARED TO HER THEY WERE WALKING TOWARD HER. SHE SETTLED DOWN AND STOPPED SHAKING ONCE EVERYONE WAS SEATED. ONCE WE LEFT THE AUDITORIUM AND GOT INTO THE HALL WAYS SHE ACTED AS THOUGH SHE WAS ON PARADE, PRANCING AND WAGGING HER TAIL. SHE IS SUCH A FUNNY GIRL!! 

SHE WAS AN ANGEL IN ALL THE CLASSES AND WE HAD RECEIVED MANY, MANY COMPLEMENTS ON HOW WELL BEHAVED SHE WAS, AND OF COURSE MANY "HORSE" COMMENTS, I HAVE JUST LEARNED TO SMILE AT..

I BROUGHT HER BACK TO THE VET FOR HER SECOND LYME VACCINE SO SHE IS SET FOR A YEAR WITH THAT. I MET A LADY IN THERE WHO WAS ASKING MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WHERE LYDIA CAME FROM. WHEN I TOLD HER SHE SAID SHE HAD A FRIEND IN IPSWICH THAT WOULD LOVE TO VOLUNTEER FOR SERVICE DOG PROJECT, SO I DID GIVE HER YOUR CARD. :~)  I DID NOT GET THE LADIES NAME, BUT HOPE SHE WILL MAKE A CONNECTION WITH YOU.

SHE IS A PERFECT ANGEL IN MY APARTMENT! SHE DOESN'T MAKE A PEEP...SOME TENANTS DON'T EVEN KNOW SHE IS HERE. I AM AN EARLY RISER AND IN THE MORNINGS WHEN I GO TO TAKE A SHOWER, ONCE SHE HEARS THE SHOWER TURN OFF SHE WILL HEAD BUTT THE DOOR OPEN THEN RUN INTO THE LIVING ROOM AND FLIP HER STUFFED SQUIRREL AROUND A BIT. AS I SAID, A FUNNY GIRL SHE IS..

SHE IS GIVING MY BOYS/YOUNG MEN THE "DANE LOVE LEAN", AND REALLY WAGGING HER TAIL GETTING EXCITED TO SEE THEM WHEN THEY'VE BEEN GONE, WHICH MAKE THE BOYS FEEL GOOD TOO. 

SHE HAS BEEN GOING TO PHYSICAL THERAPY WITH ME TWICE A WEEK AND IS SO FUNNY AS SHE WATCHES MY EVERY MOVE. 

SHE HAS BEEN TO ONE DOCTORS APPT WITH ME AND THE ONLY ISSUE IS, THE ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL. I HAD TO HAVE HER KEEP GETTING UP SO THE NURSE AND DOCTOR COULD COME AND GO. I DID TALK WITH THE OFFICE MANAGER ABOUT IT AS WE ARE FRIENDS. SHE SAID THEY WILL JUST MAKE SURE WHEN EVER I HAVE AN APPT. THEY MAKE IT IN THE PROCEDURE ROOM AS IT IS A LARGE ROOM. SO THAT SOLVED THAT.  

WE WILL BE GOING FOR AN AT DARTMOUTH HICTHCOCK  IN NH. NEXT MONTH, AS WELL AS ANOTHER APPT. LOCALLY WITH A DIFFERENT DOCTOR,  SO SHE IS GETTING AROUND.

ONE ISSUE THAT WE ARE WORKING ON IS SHE HAS AN EXTREME FEAR OF BAGS..LIKE GROCERY BAGS, PLASTIC OR PAPER. I'M NOT SURE WHY, BUT SHE ACTS LIKE SHE MAY HAVE BEEN HIT WITH THEM, OR SHOOED AWAY, OR SOMETHING. BUT A REAL FEAR! SHE ALMOST PULLED ME DOWN THE STAIRS ONE DAY BECAUSE I HAD A BAG IN MY RIGHT HAND AND WAS OPENING THE DOOR AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS WITH THAT SAME HAND, SHE FLEW BACKWARDS DOWN THE STAIRS NEARLY TAKING ME WITH HER..

I ENDED UP HAVING TO SET THE BACK DOWN TO GET THE DOOR OPEN, TO GET US THROUGH THE DOOR INTO THE HALLWAY..BY THE WAY, DOG TREATS WERE WHAT WAS IN THE PAPER BAG.. SHE WAS VERY SCARED, AS THOUGH I WAS GOING TO HIT HER WITH IT. SO IT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE SOMETHING MAY HAVE HAPPENED WITH A BAG, PERHAPS WHILE SHE WAS LOST? WHO KNOWS..

OTHER THAN EXPOSING HER TO BAGS, ANY SUGGESTIONS YOU CAN GIVE ME TO HELP HER TRY AND GET OVER THIS FEAR? 

ONCE I CAN FIRM UP GETTING A RIDE BACK TO CHECK IN WITH YOU ALL I WILL LET YOU KNOW.

the bag...it is almost a classic-- i don't know what caused it with her--- i never heard.. but i have seen more than one case where a bag got caught on a back foot-- or someone tied one to their leash  or harness without explaining it... and the dog assumed it was chasing her and went wild.  very similar to what a horse would do... horses never get over it--  that is why horses wear blinders on their bridles when attaqched to a buggy..

 but dogs  can come round.. i would get a collection of bags - plastic and paper-- while you watch tv....and sit on th e floor-- with treats in each one... and with great flair get one goody out of each bag  for a very long time --  let her talk to you about it..eventually rub her all ovfer iwth the bag if you can-- especially her back feet.....see if you can identify the problem------and forever be aware that we don't really know what caused it...
