 AUG 7 2022

for lack of a BETTER TOPIC.... I WENT TO THE PUBLIC PARK... IN TOPSFIELD- RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD.... BIG GATE .. OPEN DAILY

It is huge.. the driveway is probably at least a quarter of a mile long before you get to these sort of raised football field sort of places. I don't know the history of the place but that would never stop me -----I do know many years ago I watched tractor trailer after tractor trailer after tractor trailer pull in there and dump dirt rumor has it at that point that the town of topsfield was covering up their dump with dirt from the big dig in Boston certainly at 7:00 o'clock every morning a lot of dirt got dumped there into a great big pile &  flattened at the top.. so I went in there past the welcome to the park. SIGN which had tact underneath it dogs must be kept on a leash per the canine ordinance of. XXXX. XXX. XX.   and finally got to the top of this mound where there was posted about every 50 feet a sign that SAID  there were no horses no dogs and no golfers allowed on this mound and certainly there was only one car parked in this huge place ----- I could at that point and see no people at all what there was was the strange looking post in the ground on which someone had put a yellow flag with a number on it very much like you'd see in a golf course except that was not the case.... I had thought there was an area for dogs and horses with a nice white fence around it but that had been dismantled into just a horseshoe shape which would not contain anything would have been a good riding ring but had a big sign no horses no dogs and no golfers... right next to the welcome to the Park..

now in my vast experience in this topsfield area if you will eliminate all the dogs horses and golfing PEOPLE... there's not a lot left.. so I drove all the way through and out the other side and decided to come in again and read the signs more carefully.. which I did and it clearly said no horses dogs or golfers.. but there were three men there so I stopped to say is a very strange park. and one of them said this is the frisbee throwing park which indeed is what they were doing -----they were pitching the frisbees at one of these strange markers with the yellow flag on top .  I got a better look at the strange markers also end decided that they were some kind of a pipe to release methane gas from whatever was happening beneath all that dirt that got dumped on top of the dUMP.  The other amazing thing was that this flat area of about three or four football fields.... had been burnt over so that it was all black stubble clearly labeled no horses dogs or golfers allowed.. so I don't know what's going on up there... it has to be the world most expensive frisbee throwing field in New England if not the world.

now on the topic of city parks I have long advocated for dog parks...  a  fenced in area where people can turn their dogs loose because the town has passed some leash law.  and this DOG  Park in my opinion should be centrally located so that people in apartments with dogs can actually get to use it.. as opposed to the dog park in Beverly.. which thankfully at least there is one..  is behind a very commercial area for storing snow plows and graders for the Department of Public works but at least it has one. IT EVEN HAS ONE BENCH !!

now if I was managing anything I would have a law that if the town is going to pass a leash law----which is not a bad thing--- it must also dedicate a small dog park within walking distance of all the tax paying dog owners whose dogs might love to just stretch out a little bit.. there would be all kinds of problems with it which the dog owners would have to deal with but when they pass a leash law you're condemning a dog to forever being contained and I think that's a bad thing.

when we give one of our puppies away as a perfect pet I'm always very careful to tell the people that they are welcome to bring their dog back to run in our FIELDS  or whatever.

Too many mornings I have seen a bleary eyed man dragging a very small dog  which is hunched over trying to move his bowels While the man is oblivious of everything it just walks on.

I don't know why dog owners don't remind town authorities but they toO  pay taxes.   If you had a dog park in the middle of civilization it would be something for an awful lot of people to watch because it can be amusing... along with other things

SOME DOG PARKS EVE HAVE A SMALL DOG FENCED AREA FOR THE  TINY DOG  OWNERS AND THEIR DOGS.
