poor mischa --- the minute the blender goes the pups start screaming for breakfast, and she gets down off teh sofa and tries to do a motherly thing but the pups are not focused on her-- just the bowls.. it is very confusing.... in wolf life it is about teh time she would empty her stomach for the pups to eat the partially digested -- whatever she ate last-- so i too wish the process went quicker BEFORE HER INSTINCT TAKES OVER..... with a recovering spay in teh kitchen it is a little tight for teh post breakfast pooing ---. grace is teh "overnight" and orchestrating the maneuver.

kanga is teh recovering spay- and she is one nice dog. i do think we have a way of raising these dogs with just enough freedom to play mixed with insisting on good behavior, so they turn out well. i wish i had a penny for every time i hear a basic comment from our recipients is " that dog is very well behaved."
people are shocked to see a well behaved dog.....---- just as i am often shocked to see a well behaved kid... but don' t go there... there are a few.... ---
i remember...... i was about to walk on the street in ipswich-- with thumper very correctly by my side- when a woman came up and said "don't you know we have a leash law in ipswich?" i kept her taLKING FOR A MINUTE WHILE I FISHED OUT A PIECE OF DENTAL FLOSS I KEEP IN MY WALLET FOR JUST SUCH EPISODES... I WAS THRILLED LAST NIGHT TO SEE TEH 1/2 HOUR TV SHOW IN NEW MEXICO WITH ONE OF OUR DOGS- I WISH I KNEW EH NAMES -- A MERLE LYING SO PEACEFULLY FOR TEH ENTIRE SHOW . AMID TEH " SMALL HORSE... AND ONE THAT
"HOW DO YOU TRAIN THEM WHEN THEY ARE SO BIG...??
" IT IS HARDER TO TRAIN WANDA THAN A DANE... WHEN WANDA MISBEHAVES YOU JUST SCOOP HER UP AND RUSH ON.. SHE LEARNS TO MISBEHAVE TO GET CARRIED... NO?????
THERE IS SOOOO MUCH OF DOG TRAINING THAT IS DOMINATING THE DOG... SOMEONE YELLS "SIT" AT THE DOG ---THE DOGS SITS---AND TEH PERSON LOOKS PLEASED WITH THEMSELVES- AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE... THE PERSON NEVER TELLS THE DOG IT'S OK TO GET UP THUS UNTRAINING AT THE SAme time. eventually the dog learns to just touch thier tail to the floor and get up and leave- and teh person says "my dog is wierd-- he won't stay sitting" -- if it is a dane some medical type would say "must be their hips- danes all have hip displasiaq you know- we better xray" and you are off and running to the bank...
you laugh??? one of our dogs who was not in new england--SUDDENLY STOPPED GETTING INTO THE CAR.
THEY HAD TO PICK HIM UP AND PUT HIM IN... AND AT 170 POUNDS IT WAS ELIMINATING HIS USEFULNESS AS A SERVICEDOG.-- THEY DID ALL KINDS OF XRAYS AND EXAMS.. AND ANIMAL PSYCHIATRIST- TO NO AVAIL.. FINALLY COMING TO NEW ENGLAND AND LANDING AT HOTEL WHERE THEY WERE STUCK AND COULD NOT GET THE DOG IN THE CAR TO COME TO IPSWICH.. SO I WENT THERE- SURE ENOUGH-- THEY COULD NOT GET TEH DOG EVEN NEAR THEIR CAR.. I SAID "LET ME TRY"
AND I LED HIM TO MY CAR AND HE JUMPED RIGHT IN.- EVERYONE THOUGHT I WAS SOME KIND OF TRAINING GENIUS-- AND I WAS HAPPY TO LET THEM THINK THAT... HOWEVER THE DOG HAD JUST CLEARLY TOLD ME IT WAS THEIR CAR AND NOT A TRAINING PROBLEM.
I DROVE HIM TO IPSWICH AND THEY FOLLOWED... COME TO FIND OUT.... THE HUSBAND HAD DONE AN EMERGENCY STOP THROWING THE DOG INTO THE "HOLE" BEHIND TEH DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SEATS UPSIDE DOWN..LEGS IN THE AIR... TERRIFIED HIM...
I DID 2 THINGS ---- FIRST FILLED THAT HOLE WITH NEWSPAPERS AND COVERED TH WHOLE THING WITH FLUFFIES... AND set A wine glass filled to the brim with water on teh dashboard . and drove around with both explainig if tehy spilled tHE WAter, they were training their dog not to get in the car. the dog was fine. THE HUSBAND EXPLAINED TEH WHOLE EPISODE HAD COST OVER $5000 IN TRAINERS , VETS, ACCUPUNCTURE AND MIND READERS.--- PROBLEM WAS... NOBODY ASKED TEH DOG...

my father did that water glass thing with me when i was leaRNING TO DRIVE-- ALONG WITH TELLING ME TO KEEP THE CAR ROLLING EVER SO SLIGHTLY BECAUSE MOVING FROM A COMPLETE STOP WAS EXPENSIVE-- THE INERTIA BIT.
