Shame on me big time... I was taught very carefully that hearing aids had to cost over $1000 and everything else was just junk and not going to work... and then I was taught I thought quite rightly that Costco has very good things---- like steak... and hearing aids so I went and bought a pair of hearing aids at Costco. they really they did amplify the noise along with the words and sounds but I was never happy with them especially after I ran over one of them with my car.. but since I had insurance whatever they gave me a second one.. the left ear one.. which was always uncomfortable and probably why it kept falling out of my ear.. so I lost that again.. and just did nothing until the president let it be known that you were welcomed buy the hearing aid Over the counter without any great Complication of seeing a hearing specialists who had on a white coat so he looked like a doctor..
Fast forward the Gwen being here and annoyed with the fact I couldn't hear she dialed up Amazon.com and had a go at all the Amazon specials starting at under $20
for absolutely no reason we settled on the $49 ones-And one of those is now in my right ear and it works--far better then the $2500 special from Costco...... it is slightly bigger but all that's behind my ear... if you don't do the right thing, you can get into a feedback situation of it talking to itself and getting louder... I never had that problem with the $2500 one.. probably because it wasn't making itself any louder.. however I have this on almost the lowest volume and I can now clearly distinguish the individual words of the people on television like doctor Paul and the news.
I wanted to give them a thumbs up report on how pleased I was... and although the little piece of paper that they sent with the things says " if you have any problems we'll be happy to help you.".. and I did look at every single word on this piece of paper, and I see absolutely nowhere is there a reference to any kind of name or company.. there are a couple other interesting “mis Prints’ on the piece of paper-But in general the instructions are in fact operationable. By going back to Amazon, I was able to see a reference to. LIGINN. Company--but that was the only clue I had/I also see where they have what looks like the same thing for $19.
the whole thing readjusted my feeling about the relationship between CONTROL. EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITY—
and how education might give you the opportunity to be in control...
I am thinking specifically of—your dog must have rabies shots and the relationship of fire departments, veternarians and physical exams.for 80 years the fire departments gave $2 rabies shots—now you need a $50 physical before a vet will give it... it does sound medically correct....and it may be ----unless you study probability.
It is not just vets... 40 years ago. medical doctors would not prescribe birth control unless you had a pap smear within the last six months.. somehow now I never hear reference to a pap smear---- of course I'm not really into birth control now either but 40 years ago I found that very annoying.. even though it provided endless jokes about the fact that it was only a little prick.
