if rudyard kippling couLd astound the world with the simple word "IF"
I SHOULD VERY QUICKLY DO THE SAME THING WITH "IT"AS IN LOOSING "IT" WHATEVER IT IS..BECAUSE THE PROCESS OF LOOSING " IT " WOULD MAKE WRITING ABOUT IT MORE CHALLANGING.epsecially since at least 1/2 the world seems to be loosing their own vaRIETY OF "IT" ALREADY.I DO HOPE AND PRAY THAT THE LAST "IT" I LOOSE IS HUMOR, BEAUSE I DO ENJOY IT SOO MUCH...YESTERDAY 2 PHOTOS MADE ME LAUGH EACH WAS SOOOOO PERFECT... SINCE I CAN'T ATTACH, TRY THIS.THE PHOTO OF ME IN A CHEF HAT SERVING 2 DANES AT A TABLE.. THE PICTURE IN THE CALENDAR 2021 THE 3 DOGS ARE LINED UP PERFECTLY WAITING.... THE BETTER PHOTO SHOWS 2 OF THEM EATING AND THE THIRD LOOKING AT THE SPOON IN MY HAND AND SAYING " I ORDERED FRENCH TOAST"THE SECOND MIND BLOWER WAS ONE PUP IN THE RAISED LOFT AND 3 ON THE LOWER "BUNK" ---- THE TOP ONE SAYING " HELLO???? COULD WE GET SOME ROOM SERVICE UP HERE...PLEASE...?" I THINK THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE... NHTEACH IS ONE.... WE NEED TO TALK...--NOW THE MORE SERIOUS "IT" THAT WE LOST TRACK OF-- WHICH LUCKILY TURNED OUT OK.... Was karl And his projectile pooping.
2020 10 20 -----THE DICTATED PART :)
The kind of details that drive me nuts -------we split these puppies up into three groups of four---PLUS 3 -- sounds wonderful and they go into individual kennels down back I mean in the barn kennel 9 and 10 and then walter's old kennel which we call kennel 11 ---each of those let's the puppies run on a Hill puppy Hill and donkey Hill sounds lovely ..
now applied to that situation the fact that Carl had a bloody stool a few days ago---- this whole process of splitting the dogs into groups of four and putting them out to enjoy running on the hillside totally ignored the fact that he had that bloody stool and how were we going to check up on that .. in fact we weren't until I did see a note an overnight note when we had him in the kitchen and would certainly notice anything that his stool was firmer and then actually last night it was cylinders that marvelous word cylinders ..----So there was no problem this time with Carl except it pointed out to me there was a gap in our basic puppy management system which we have to address somehow like on paper .. we do have a notebook .. for notes.... woo woo . But there are times when things are so obvious people don't see a reason to make note of them on paper which could be devastating If the poo continued to be projectile AND BLOODY .
however the there is 1 camera person who keeps track all things that I do wrong namely I said I was going to have three puppies in the kitchen and one would be etta.. so I got an email questioning why I hadn't done what I said I was going to do it and put it in the kitchen .. well I only want three in the kitchen so I made Carl one of them to watch his stool ..
there are so many things around here they get so convoluted but if I had to explain every single one of them I'd have to give up eating ice cream and maybe even drinking coffee .. so there are times when I hate to try and explain why I did something .. but couple that with times when I really need to have my memory JARRED... like you forgot to push the button to have the daily doggy seNT out .. and this happens with frightening regularity--- there's one person that reminds me of that ---thank you ..summon substance of that discussion is that you can't really tell when I should be reminded of something and when not----which I suppose makes the net result of this conversation equal zero.
“it” is a zoo.... Trying to manage 15 lively pups-- but it start6s here.. you have to expect perfect behavior in order to achieve it.
TRAINING 101
It is made up pf tiny steps. Here are two..
We have that bank door/iron graTE.. TO Keep the dogs separated into ones allowed in the sunroom and ones not allowed in the sunroom - it is possible to lose your mind trying to shove Jimmy out the door WHILE CAPRI AND the malarkey aSCOOT along underneath and have to be shoved out also while you TRY AND DELIVER 1 dish of dog food in your hand which is chaos ' s supper ..
at that point -- it is mayhem .. however foot stamping does stop a dog in a situation like this and Germany knows that full well .. Capri and larky better learn it quick when you get to that threshold you turn around and stamp your foot and that backs THEM up .. usually they'll back up 6 or 8 inches and stand there and look at the floor at which point if they take one step forward even an inch you stamp your foot again at which point he'll turn around go the other way . and that dog then becomes trained. It took all of 15 seconds of concentration on the part of the person . problem is people usually don't spend the 15 seconds ahead of time they'd rather try and balance dog food on their head and shoVE dogs around .
THIS TRAINING METHOD IS CALLED .... plan ahead
Second thing from dinner last night doggy dinner that is... is all the puppies got fed including 3 in the kitchen and then they want to feed the house dogs Bentley civil end Gemini --- chaos was already in the sunroom ---and Cindy bless her soul ask where am I gonna feed these three dogs with three puppies running around their feet .. and I said right HERE in the living room and I just sat down on the couch with the three in front of me with my two finger reprimand ready as the the three dogs ate their dinner each puppy approached one of their dishes twice both times I gave my two finger correction and they went 18 inches backwards and lay down on a doggy bed and watched the three big dogs eating .. now if I had allowed the puppies do stick their head in the adult dogs dish it would have allowed the dogs to correct the puppies a lot more severely than my two fingers .. but mission accomplished I don't think we will have to do many more corrections .
I have heard it said by trainers in days gone by that if a dog has prey drive you could never correct it . well both Germany and fizzleHAD A field day chasing any loose chickenS for about 3 weeks ----it was on camera ... and it was not pretty although I didn't lose any chickens we lost a lot of feathers .. so it was time to have a discussion with each of those dogs ... I took one at a time into the chicken coop and made them lay down amid those chickens while I put out la crack corn to feed 'em .. and every time the dog would even look at one of those chickens I would scold him and explain that was my chicken . that took a few minutes for each dog .. but now with maybe 6 chickens loose in the driveway we could walk a run Gemini or sizzle pass those chickens and they don't dare look at them . I could just hear the mentally saying t” Those are mommy's chickens and I better not touch them “
The camera people will get a chance to keep track of that becausw the driveway area often contains both chickens and Jimmy and fizzle .. I don't think either dog is going to bother those chickens I don't see any prey drive in that direction at all.. IF THEY DO, LET ME KNOW...
now that is not true of squirrel chasing .. to address that there's a camera person who told me that Amazon has squirrel scent in bottles .. please don't anybody else go bUy it because I will order something today and if it's anything we don't need it's 75 bottles of squirrel scent .. one ought to do it if it's going to work
so that's the latest
--AN INTERESTIN COMMENT ON ADHD
Hi Carlene,
My Great Great Grandfather, Isaiah Howes, had ADHD. At 16, he was sent to sea and circled the globe several times.
He was a legend in South Yarmouth on Cape Cod.
My Great Grandmother was also ADHD and an amazing artist.
Isaiah was bald and had a beard and a fringe at the back. He had my great grandmother paint his face on the back of his head and walked through the the good Quaker South Yarmouth on a Sunday with his clothes on backwards to see if anyone would notice. he was always up to something...his letters are heirlooms to many families.
My great grandmother made life size dolls and stuffed them with sawdust. She went to the lumber yard and asked for enough sawdust to stuff a two year old child. The clerk told her we was not married and had no idea how much she would require. She made man a man sized doll and would change its clothes and position around the house to freakout her husband. she had bad manners parties for her grand children because they 'needed to know bad manners as well as good ones'. She also had a pet goat who ate half the skirt off the dress of an unwelcome someone who came to tea and and patted it for 1/2 hour.
My mom carried the on ADHD (also ADD) tradition to her 6 daughters and we have passed it to our children...and each of them have used it to advantage in their professions.
We were and are very lucky in our heritage and the quirky minds and untold creative mischief that it has engendered.
The world NEEDS more people like ADHD !
