ARE WE COMING OUT OF TROUBLE??? DO I DARE HOPE??

3-4 AM THERE WAS A HUGE COMPLAINT GOING ON-- NOT THE USUAL BICKERING - BUT COMPLAINT... SO I HAD TO GET UP
I HAD SAID MANY SMALL MEALS OFTEN- AND THAT IS WHAT WAS HAPPENING... EXCEPT-- THE PUPS DECIDED IN UNISON.. THAT THER WERE BETTER AND NEEDED TO FILL UP
-- SO PAM AND I SPOON FED ANOTHER 5 OF THE PLAZTIC "CANS" BEFORE THE PUPS BEGAN TO WANDED AWAY -- FILLED.. I DIDN'TY KNOW IF THEY WOULD THEN THROW UP THE WHOLE THING... BUT I AM TOLD IT STAYED DOWN... MAKING ME WONDER...? ARE WE THERE YET?? AT LEAST WITHTHIS BUNCH???

THERE IS A FINE LINE BETWEEN BEING VIGILANT AND NEUROTIC...
AND ONE OF OUR TESTS IS NOW... GO ROUND AND HAND OUT A COOKIE... AND REPORT BACK IF ANYONE DOES NOT GOBBLE IT UP.-- THOSE NEED FURTHER ASSESMENT..

NOW GEORGE STILL HAS LUMIN... I THINK WILL BE COMING HOME TODAY-- HE SAYS SHE IS NOT EATING-- I HOPE IT IS NO MORE THAN WAT WE ALREADY ARE DEALING WITH-- I ASKED IF THEY HAD JUST PUT DOG FOOD IN A DISH???/ OR WAS IT CHICKEN LIVERS ON A SPOON WHICH SHE IS USED TO?...

I AM ANXIOUS TO GET HER HOME IN HER NORMAL INVIRONMENT AND SEE IF HER SYMPTOMS FOLLOW EVERYONE ELSES..HER TESTS SO FAR HAVE BEEN FINE.. HER XRAY DID SHOW A VERY SLIGHT IRREGULARITY NOT REALLY A REMARKABLE FINDING.... IN HER BREATHING/SWALLOWING DEPT BUT GEORGE SA\ID IT COULD HAVE BEEN POSITIONAL.
WE DON'T HAVE ALL HER TESTS BACK.. BUT SHE LOOKED FINE TO ME YESTERDAY WHEN WE WENT TO SEE HER AND PICK UP THE NEXT ROUNDS OF MEDS.

I HAVE LOST TRACK OF WHO IS STILL ON FLUIDS SEVERAL OLDER DOGS STILL ARE... I THINK . PLUS THE MINUTE A DOG DOES NOT EAT A COOKIE WE ARE SURE THEY ARE"COMING DOWN" AND - BEDCAUSE WE HAVE FLUIDS, (AND GEORGE SAYS TO) THEY GET THEM.

IT WASS A WILD WEEK-- THANK HEAVENS FOR THE 3 CP'S WHO DID YOMANS SERVICE.... THEY SWUNG INTO ACTIONAND TOOK THE BRUNT OFF GRACE AND PAM--- THE LAUNDRY GOT DONE---THERE WAS ALWAYS SOMEONE TO SIT WITH PUPS ON THE VOMIT PAROLL- AND CONSTANT POO PICKING ON THE ENTIRE PLACE....

ALONG WITH THAT - THE GUEST HOUSE DECK GOT PAINTED...

THE ENTIRE CAMERA COMMUNITY HAS SAVED TEH DAY WITH NOT ONLY THE FLUIDS BUT EXTRA DONATIONS AND FOOD FOR THE CREW.... OF A SLIGHTLY HEALTHIER VERSION THAN THE USUAL CANDY COUNTER.. WHICH MIND YOU WE LOVE TOO... LAST NIGHT'S HAM AND TURKEY FROM DAVID AND HARRY'S REALLY HIT THIE SPOT..
HERE'S CLAIRE'S FLIGHT HOME REPORT..
**************
I'm putting down some thoughts as I fly home to Oregon after a week at SDP that evoked every imaginable emotion. I had expected fun and hard work, but not the roller coaster ride that was to be.
We worried about, caredfor as best we could, and cleaned up for Mae and Vivie and Bing and Gronk and Merlie-girlie and Ava and Audrey (a little hooligan if there ever was one) and Sophie and Clarkie and Gabby and Zeke and Ariot and Lainie and Lumin and Symon (well on the mend and starting to dance again) and all the others, in sickness and in health, and watched in awe and admiration as Grace, in her inimitable fashion, assessed and medicated and doted on each one in turn with little sleep and probably less nutrition! And Pam was there non-stop, orchestrating logistics and putting out metaphorical "fires" as best she could. Carlene, you have an amazing staff, from the house to the barn and all stops in between...and I'm grateful to know all of you a little bit better after this week. You, they and your faithful volunteers clearly love these dogs and the mission of SDP beyond measure, and demonstrate that love even when some woofer is being a pain in the you-know-what! May there never be another week as tumultuous as this past one! I'll never know just how it came to be that Susie, Kari and I happened to be there this particular week. (Last December we made a plan and asked to be there together for this week because it just seemed to fit everybody's schedule!). I'm grateful that we WERE there, and that we were able to help. I'm grateful for friendships forged, and I pray that the healing continues...with love to all...Clare

FABULOUS FAILURES   UPDATE....
Hector, who now resides with Erin is doing very well, loves to cuddle & sit on laps.
He has learned to sit & stay.
He continues with his obedience training, which is critical, due to his deafness.
Being a typical Dane, he has outsmarted his family:
He used to be allowed a toy on the bed when teething.
Now, that's not allowed, so he plays with his toy(s) while leaning up against the bed.
Then, he leaves the toy on the bed.
When he returns to the toy, later on, he plays with it on the bed.
After all, that's where it was!
What's the problem, Mom????!!!!!!
Hank, who resides with Ann is doing great, growing, behaving, & loving their space to run.
He continues to work on discipline & obedience, in order to be a good family member.
He's very responsive & well loved.
He resides in a part of California where "rattlesnake avoidance" training is common & needed.
During training, he had a natural aversion to the rattlesnake, so he excelled in the class.
Although not a service dog, he consistently put his body between the snake & human.
Thanks to Erin & Ann for the updates!
