THE pups - OPAL YELLOW AND BEN TLY- ARE GETTING HOUSEHOLD TREATMNENT- AND IN 2 DAYS HAVE LEARNED TO RUN FOR THE COUCH IF THE GOING GETS ROUGH.. THEY CAN ALL CLEAR THE 18" BARRIER ( OF HOME DEPOT SHELVING) BUT THIS IS WHERE I NEED TO ASSERT MYSELF AND MAKE PLEASENT DOGS OUT OF THEM.
I HOPE I DO NOT HAVE TO JUST PUT UP A HIGHER BARRIER--- WHICH IS THE SIMPLE WAY OUT--- THESE ANRE NOT STUPID DOGS--- AT THE MOMENT THEY HAVE BEEN OUT FOR THIER MORNING RUN AND ARE BACK ON THE LONG COUCH---and the barrier in the hall is still open...
life will be complete when we can take down the 2 barriers and just tell them to stay in the area unless invited out.
just another step in the training process-- a little more complicated with 3 at a time--- but should be possible.
i previously did not have any dogs in the tv room---they would stand at the door and look-- but tom started letting them in--- and now there is hardly room for people.

that training is very similar to holding your dinner in your lap and just telling the dogs to leave it ---it is not theirs.... instead of trying to raise the plate high so they can't reach it... HA fat chance--- big tall dogs... stand your ground--- it is called training..
raising a treat higher and higher is how you teach a dog to stand on his hind legs...
don't even go there.

in the past we have not allowed any tug of war type games with pups-- and i certainly do not want anyone to start it now--- but megan - colleen and i will try the concept of having a dog take an object and release it when you say "thank you"
consider the concept of a 150 pound dog who has hold of your pant leg for fun and is roaring off to hide his treasure in the barn.
we will try and teach the concept of letting go first......an awkward sequence at best./

speaking of construction
the t-tent roof tarp is self destructing--- but we may have a piece of the white polymax arena to cover it-
all you math types ---- the t-tent is 20 wide with a 4' rise -- and i think the piece of the arena is 12'wide-- might make it. the square root of 100+16 is less than 12'.. no?
