Since when was volunteering and doing charitable work any kind of competition? I really don't understand the thought process of people who can cut down one charity at the expense of another--- we could all use more charitable effort -----what I am into at the moment is in the cost effective study on what I choose to do.. and certainly the training of dogs to help mobility patients was a wonderful idea but hugely expensive to try and do it as organizations like adi insisted it be done and I don't know why they do that except I Suppose they do have to keep their eye on people who are not doing a legitimate job=== anybody can put up a sign that says they're a trainer but let me see the dogs that they've handled --- when you talk about a budget for training facility oof a half $1,000,000 and you look at the number of people served by that the numbers are clear--- even in my best year or I should say our(megan and my) best year when we put out about 20 service dogs. that is $25,000 per dog which to the person getting the dog that's a good bargain it means independence etc, and then i looked around..... the people stuck in these daycare places?? well... if someone has a viable program helping someone/ anyone....... have at it. ... but i am off on a tangent of day care and nursing homes...
my budget for 2023 was very loosely strung together with a few hours of Judy, one weekly tank of gas---- an awful lot of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and the whole thing topped out at under $$ 26,000 and for that we saw and cheered up and things like that over 4500 visits....--to be honest some of them were two or three times as we go to some places on a routine. basis. so although we certainly are not comparing apples and apples. it is more like apples and shoelaces.. The numbers are there. $26,000 to cheer 4300. Is more like $6 per visit.
Hold on here---- that assumes I would have the dogs and other animals already—so how to expense that dog food? And trailer repair... and funny little bag things which might catch the goats poo=== and who said goats anyway- in the big world it is called development...R&D -- which we must also have just to keep it interesting....yesterday Janine and I rode around meridith and goldys farm – analyzing the mini donkey population with hopes of finding one ---at least one to develop into a stair climbing entertainer – and tho I certainly would not charge for my expertise at getting animals to do strange things.... there is the coffee consumed...
So many thanks to the $10 donations who make this effort possible.... our “SOLD OUT” is music to my ears..... \HMMMMMMMMMMM
Music--- ?????? -----how could we add colliape music to the dog and pony show that we are becoming????
My point being.... If you have found a way to volunteer to in any way improve the lot of anyone else by all means go at it---there is no competition and there certainly is no lack of people who need help ... And helping one person or 4500 is by all means better than doing nothing... the effect these animals have on the residents of these places is astronomical...so... we do have a need to fill..
Now we also must have fun doing it.....---and the look on some of these faces is a good payment.
