Gotta love it----60 degrees today and 8 inches of snow tomorrow??? And they won’t let me put on my plow.... I like plowing....—I usually just push everything to the right and go for the street—then come back up the hill at ½ plow and try for a car width going straight for the barn—looping bac leaves enough room to park a few before someone come in and does a proper job of the whole thing...
All it takes is money---- because when a storm is predicted all ther heavy duty are ready and lined up... but it is “the corners” who compete for the plow vehicles which would deal with us.. and the commercial places outbid us so we end up waiting for a long time—there is real money to be made “ doing corners” and cleanupin parking lots...
I had a lot of reaction to the numbering of houses w/r/t the distance from the post office....i can not believe how many people were just confused !!!—so while I am at it... what about those little green numbers like 72.4 on the highway.... I am told those are the distance from where that highway entered the state on the southern/eastern end.... and the bridges are labeled in the same sequence – so the police know “trash on highway 65.2.” or c”ar hit bridge 14.6” —now that mass has labeled the exits in the same numbering system – we are really entering the modern world with signs like exit 76.4 and under that is a sign “old exit 53A.”
Having spent yesterday pulling the poo picking procedure around meridith;;; I wished I had a 6’ piee of chain link to drag behind... oh I know thee is an official drag for that purpose... and I own one—somewhere... but a piece of chain link works sooooooo much better---- ater the big clups are picked- the chain link dragsmooths outhte rest and the hoofprints etc...
So to look at that process from the top down...... some scientific principle somewere teLLs me “matter may neither be created nor destroyed” or something like that..... if I buy 80 bales of hay weekly—and they are 45 pounds each. That is 3600 pounds of hay... to be ground up( by the horses)and mixed with water ( as they digest it) which probably doubles It’s weight producing 7200 pounds of poo--- which on the ground goes back ( evaporation) to the original 3600 pounds --- until it rains ( back to the 7200 #) – the sum of all that is somewhere between2 and 4 tons of “material” gets added to meridith weekly--- NOW—WITH THEIR 120 ACRES
