i can't really say i quit-- it is against my religion to quit most any struggle.... but the overnight battle with the "body pillow" has caused me to "rethink" the concept of sleeping with a great wad of stuff taking up a great percentage of the bed... i realize i am skating on thin ice.... but those ads about a woman looking so comfortable wrapped around anything resembling a pillow are fake... i know how those phooto's are made --- that woman is paid well to look comfortable.... it has nothing to do with reality... -- remember i provided animals for photo shoots for catalogs for years,... 87.3% were fake somehow..... i can not remember one picture of a dog in a "coat" where the coat was not slit up the back and taped to the dog with duct tape... -- the dog coat makers-- especially the ones where a cute little rain hat was part of it... never made provision for a dog's neck.
duct tape was a greqat part of many ads.....i remember....oh lordy this was a terrifying photo shoot... (i don't think i old this story did i?) about the bank commercial which wanted 9 sheep lying in a row at sunrise on a hill in lincoln mass.-- sunrise is a terrifying word for me... photographically it lasts about 15 minutes, no extra time to fool around.... or you have to try again the next day. ---as i drove down 128 at 3am with 10 sheep in my horse trailer, i still had not figured out how to make this happen... i did have with me a handful of tranquilizer shots-- i had never used them before-- and knew full well that to tranquilize 10 sheep with hopes that the are only slightly less active , could easily mean 10 sheep sound asleep on their sides looking very dead- which was not what the art director wanted...---- my friend "goldie" ( ghost of the lefthand drawer) must have been with me that day -- as i drove alont i remembered in my photo shoot kit of misc crap there was a roll of duct tape..... i knew that if you forced sheep into an awkward position, they quit and just stayed wherever--( like for shearing on thier butts) -- so i just took them out one at a time and duct tape thier front legs doubled back into the position they would normally be in to lie down -- they had so much fuzzy wool padding on their legs it was totally perfect... they would try and stand up, maybe twice.. and then just lie there- where we could just pick them up and plunk them wherever the art director wanted and they were perfect...-- the duct tape easily pealed off when i put them back in the trailer -- job done/... ( check cashed)

puppies -- yesterday megan ran them around the fireplace and got brave and tried to run them aound the house-- which almost worked.... b ut the last bit required 6 volunteers to corralle them there were many questiosn asked ... like ---" do you still have 6" i am missing 3 - is that 12 yet??? is one under the porchj?? are you sure?
things like that... having lifted a few up the doorstep into thehouse... boy are they round...
maybe too round as most have "audible stools" -- and you all have been told the worst kind of loose stool is "audible"-- as any physisist can tell you , you can not compress fluids, but you can compress gas which can then be a sourc e of energy to fire bullets or other material at great range...
leaving them outside after eating so they can dispense with the eventual food processing, is a good idea.... especially since it is raining to move all the movements on into the "A" field. wonderful how nature plans all these things...
*************
natue plans... yesterday laura and kelly took to use the "shedding blades" on mo.... at first mo did not understand but with a frying pan of sweet feed, she stood motionliess while they scraped away maybe 1/2 of the hair that had kept mo warm all winter.. this made a huge pile of blond horsehair- which the birds will rush in to claim for their nesets-- even after we had a full plastic bag for the dumpster. the perfedt shedding blade is simpl a " saw blaade" bent un "u" shape.
**
i think i see why i lke donkeys and mules... whenmo arrived, if you touched her rear legs she would cowkick sideways with accuracy to injure... now after a month of respectble handling kelly and laura were crawling around her back feet without a care in the world... unless stung by a bee-- she was 100% steady as a rock... pockets on the other hand was thrilled withthe oats she earned by getting on the box and eating out of the tractor bucket... and being a youngster she cavorted around bucking and kickig at nothing in particular-- safe as long as you did not get in her way....

WHEN SHE WOULD WAKE UP AND STIR, WE WOULD STOP, WALK AROUND, TIGHTEN OUT SKATES ( MY UNCLE TOM CAME UP WITH THAT ONE!!!! )AND OFF AGAIN WE WOULD GO. STOPPED IN HARRISON VIRGINIA FOR THE NIGHT AND SUSAN H MEET US WITH LUKE. TUMBLER IS SMALL COMPARED TO LONG LEGGED LUKIE. WE HAD A NICE DINNER AND VISIT. I APPRECIATED HER TAKING THE TIME TO COME. TUMBLER IS ADJUSTING VERY WELL. EVERYDAY BRINGS NEW ADVENTURES. WE ARE GETTING INTO ROUTINE WHICH HAS HELPED HER ADJUST. THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE AT THIS MOMENT IS LIGHTENING BUGS. THEY COME OUT AT DUSK AND YOU WOULD THINK THEY WERE ALIENS FROM OUTER SPACE COMING TO CARRY HER AWAY. I AM GUESSING LIGHTENING BUGS AREN'T IN BOSTON SO I TRY TO GET THAT LAST PEE PEE IN BEFORE THE MONSTERS COME OUT. SHE HAS TREMENDOUS MANNERS AND A MILLION DOLLAR PERSONALITY. THE LEASH YOU MADE ME WORKS PERFECT. YOUR PERCENTAGE OF DANES THAT MAKE IT AS SERVICE DOGS IS ABOVE AVERAGE SO NOT MANY FABULOUS FAILURES. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO PROVIDE HER A FOREVER HOME. WE LOVE HER SO MUCH. I HONESTLY CANT NOT IMAGINE THE LOVE THESE RECIPIENTS HAVE FOR THE SERVICE DOGS THEY ARE RECEIVING THAT ARE COMPLETELY CHANGING THEIR LIVES. HONESTLY OVERWHELMED WHEN I THINK OF IT.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream- -and not make dreams your master;
If you can think- -and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on! '
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings- -nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And- -which is more- -you'll be a Man, my son!
