WILD MAIL DAY YESTERDAY-- WE HAD 53 PIECES OF SDP MAAIL -- MANY SPIRIT STICKS---- WE NOW HAVE 3 BUCKETS FULL-- SOME PEOPLE THINK THERE IS A DEADLINE-- THAT IS TO DESIGN THE SHIRTS-- NO DEADLINE ON THE STICKS--BUT TO GET IN THE SHIRT ORDER IT WOULD HELP TO GET THEM IN SOON...
SHELIA EMAILED YESTERDAY SEVERAL TIMES FOR COPIES OF DESIGN SUGGESTIONS SO I BE SHE IS SETTLING ON THAT TODAY
ALSO SHE IS SUPPOSED TO CALL DIG SAFE... TO LOCATE THE WIRES IN THE DRIVEWAY SO WE CAN PUT IN THE HOLES FOR THE SIGN.. LAST TIME DIGSAFE WAS HERE DOWN BY THE BARN, THE MAN QUIT AND LEFT IN TEARS.. WHEN YOU LIVE ON A FARM AND YOU HAVE SOME WATER OR ELECTRICAL EMERGENCY YOU JUST DIG ANOTHER HOLE AND PUT STUFF IN IT.. FOR VARIOUS REASONS THERE HAVE BEEN 3 TRENCHES 4 FOOT DEEP FROM HOUSE TO BARN.
WORST CASE WAS AN UNDERGROUND WATER LEAK -- MUST HAVE LEAKED FOR A MONTH-- FINALLY PRESSURE KEPT DROPPING AND WE PAID ATTENTION-- ALSO WE GOT THE WATER BILL... THE LEAK BEING ON MY SIDE OF THE METER,... IT WAS MY BILL...
HOPEFULLY THAT TYPE PROBLEM IS IN MY PAST
(OH I WISH I HAD NOT SAID THAT.......)
SO BACK TO THE HOLES FOR THE SIGN....IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW NEW ENGLAND IS VERY FAMOUS FOR LOBSTER-- AND ROCKS.. SO HOLE DIGGING WILL TEST YOUR METTLE . AND I KNOW ALL ABOUT POST HOLE DIGGERS-- YOU BANG THEM INTO THE GROUND, GET A CUPFULL OF DIRT AND AS YOU LIFT THEM, ONE PEBBLE WILL HOLD THE THING APART SO ALL THE DIRT WILL FALL OUT-- BUT YOU HAVE GOT THE ONE PEBBLE OUT OF THE HOLE. FOR A TYPICAL HOLE, I FIND MY SOP SPOON TO BE FAR MORE EFFICIENT-- PROBLEM HERE IS THESE HOLES HAVE TO GO DOWN 3 FEET-- THAT IS A LONG WAY FOR ME TO REACH WITH THE SPOON... IT HAS BEEN DONE... BUT...
I COULD SIT IN MY TRACTOR AND DIG A 3' HOLE IN 7 MINUTES OR LESS--- PROBLEM THERE IS ... IT WOULD BE A BIG HOLE.. NOT CONDUCIVE TO SUPPORT..... SO THE PLAN IS TO DIG WITH THE TRACTOR, AND PUT IN THESE CARDBOARD "SONNA"? TUBES-- THEY ARE SORT OF A TEMP HOLE WHICH YOU CAN CEMENT IN PLACE--- THEN WHEN YOU PUT IN THE POST, YOU FILL AROUND THE POST WITH SOMETHING "PACKABLE" LIKE STONE DUST...
THE FLAGPOLE IS PUT UP THAT WAY. IT IS NOT 100% VERTICAL -- BUT AROUND HERE NOTHING IS-
PEOPLE WITH POINTY MINDS AND LEVELS ARE NOT REALLY WELCOME HERE.
PIECES OF STRING AND SIPHON HOSE GOES A LONG WAY IN MY BUILDING CAREER...
WHICH GOES BACK 40 YEARS..... I REMEMBER.....
WHILE DRIVING WANT AD MAGAZINES AROUND ONE JULY, I NOTICED A PONY TIED TO A TREE IN SOMEONE'S YARD IN NORTH READING--- IT WAS THIN-- AND NO WATER BUCKET IN JULY HEAT... IT WAS THERE THE NEXT DAY --
SO INSTEAD OF REPORTING IT, I OFFERED TO BUY IT FOR $25- AND I BECAME THT OWNER OF "BONES" I DIDN'T WANT TO PUT IT IN THE BARN WITH THE REST ALTHO IF HE HAD MUCH WRONG WITH HIM HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD.... SO I PUT HIM IN A SEPARATE PEN-- WHICH IN A NORMAL HOUSE WOULD HAE BEEN CALLED THE FRONT YARD. HE BECAME OUR 4-H CLUB PROJECT AND RETURNED TO HEALTH JUST FINE.
PROBLEM 1. I IMMEDIATELY WAS REPORTED TO THE MSPCA THAT I WAS STARVING MY ANIMALS.. AND THAT BUNCH ARRIVED IN FULL FORCE( THEY APPARENTLY DON'T COVER NORTH READING)- THEY LISTENED TO MY STORY AND INSPECTED THE 15 OR SO FAT BEASTS IN THE BACK FIELD.. BUT THEY DID SAY HE NEEDED A SHELTER..
SO--- TRYING TO BE CORRECT -- FOR THE LAST TIME IN MY BUILDING CAREER WITH BUILDING INSPECTORS. I TRIED TO
GET A PERMIT TO BUILD A SMALL8 X 12 PONY SHELTER AND MAGAZINE SHED AT THE TOP OF MY DRIVEWAY--
THE BUILDING INSPECTOR ASKED WHO WAS GOING TO BUILD IT.. I SAID I WAS-- HE MADE SOME REMARK ABOUT THEN IT PROBABLY WOULDN'T STAND UP LONG ENOUGH TO NEED A PERMIT...
IT WAS JUST THE START OF ME VS THEM----GOTTA LOVE THESE TYPES..
THAT WAS 40 YEARS AGO-- THE THING STILL STANDS-- I SAW IT WITHIN THE PAST M ONTH... THE WALLS ARE 1/4 " PLYWOOD... JUST ENOUGH TO HOLD UP THE PAINT.
I WENT FROM THAT GUY TO THE IPSWICH BUILDING INSPECTOR WHO (FOR ANY NEW CAMERA PEOPLE ) WANTED ME TO USE HIS CONTRACTOR TO BUILD THE ARENA AND WHEN I SAID NO I WANTED THE CLEARSPAN BUILDING... HE TOLD ME I WAS OUT OF MY LEAGUE, I WAS ONLY A WOMAN..
LONG STORY BUT THE PUNCH LINE GOES ON AND ON IN MY HEAD.

REPORTS FOM OUT 2 LATEST GRADS....WICKED AND LYDIA
I AM TOLD THAT WICKED WAS THE PUP WHOWAS SICK AND WE TRIED GERBER TYPE BABY FOOD -- CHICKEN AND SWEET POTATO--- AND JUST LOOK AT HER NOW.... SUPER DOG.
IT SEEMED EASY TO DIGEST AND WE NOW TRY AND KEEP A SUPPLY ON HAND FOR EVEN THE ADULT DOGS AT TIMES...
Hi, I wanted to let you know our first day went well! We only had one class today, so it was a good way to ease into the school routine. Here she is showing off her skills:
( A PICTURE OF HER LYING UNDER A DESK... WHICH I CAN NOT SHRINK)
Sent from my iPhone
Lydia great in car-- even when and ambulance passed us blaring sirens and we had to pull over and everyone was honking like crazy to get back into the road. Lydia was cool as a cucumber.
Practiced walk with vest to dog park then took vest off, clipped 16ft leash on and let her be freer. She had to be prodded to go enjoy, but she got the hang of it. And when I put vest back on for the walk back, she was right back in service mode again.
