There's something a little bit strange here---Janine took jimmany with her to Aiken SC knowing he would be perfectly well behaved for what she wanted to do which could include all kinds of public things and he'd be fine... and then Judy took malarkey sizzle and Wanda... off to a adult daycare center where they were exceedingly popular and one man even jumped up and down and said he felt 10 years younger having had a few minutes to talk to malarkey.. and I sat here in the in the cabin peeling sweet potatoes..
my guess is in this whole great wide world there are an awful lot more sweet potato peelers than there are dog trainers and I submit for your reference that perhaps I am a better dog trainer than I am a sweet potato peeler... point being made if you need to use your assets to their best advantage you go with the strength so therefore it would seem logical that I should train dogs and not peel sweet potatoes... even if I did produce a very nice collection of roasted vegetables which everybody ate for lunch..
and while they were eating their lunch Elizabeth suggested that I try and train her dogs instead of peeling sweet potatoes.. the concept is interesting---she has I think by last count 5 German shepherd looking type dogs with one of them quite a bit younger still puppy like... German shepherds are not my favorite type dog to deal with only because they're so damn serious.. they don't begin to produce the number of laughs. that a Great Dane will produce.. I cannot think of a German shepherd alive that would create the havoc in an adult care center that malarkey creates.. his very presence at 178 lbs makes everybody sit up and take notice and smile as the tail is always wagging.
So I asked Elizabeth just what she wanted her dog to do---- Because in my real world of dog training I have never been able to teach a dog to roll over... and the fact that they're all house trained is a little bit of a mystery to me because I never really worked at that either....you just line up the pieces and hope everything happens---- but rolling over I've never been able to do..
turns out. all Elizabeth wants is basically what's in the canine good citizen test.. like stand around behave yourself and don't knock anybody over and don't bite anybody.
so with that as a goal ------I submit for your reference the fact that I have taken at least 4 Great Dane puppies that were not behaving well at all.. and managed to turn out a much better behaved dog in about three or four hours. of sitting at ira Toyota waiting for my oil change. I do think that concept goes back to getting their attention with spoon feeding the very young puppies.. once that is done your training is so much easier.. Elizabeth dogs are straight out of rescue.. and have not had anybody pay enough attention to them to have them pay any attention to people...
plus being slightly on the lazy side my first goal would be to try and substitute some kind of attention getting similar to spoon feeding a three-week old puppy.
I think this can be done basically in the cabin or ira Toyota’s waiting room. To wrap your head around this concept a little further I can remember a couple times would I have taken two adult Danes known to hate each other and sat myself down outside the workshop area with one of those dogs on either side. with nothing but the normal training collar and leash and just made them lie down and stay there in other words pay attention to me.. and they did after which it was possible to walk them around passed each other without them diving at each other----- the whole concept of. allies are people with common enemies.. as long as the dogs paid attention to me they were not a challenge to each other.
So to start her dog I would eliminate any possible confusion. like boundless energy of a puppy by having it run behind the golf cart maybe 10 times around the pond..
then a few minutes walking around on leash then bring him into the cabin where larkey and sizzle may be sound asleep on the beds and having those two behave themselves just insisting that this young puppy lie down and take a nap--- this would be my first attempt at training.. wear them out make them behave.
so you may see that start to happen that's my plan at any rate.. I know damn well you don't train a dog by walking in circles which is the common thought. If I can get any kind of control at all, then maybe we can proceed to walking around in public.. but if you don't have their attention to begin with you're wasting your time
