dec 15 2020 donk

i promise tomorrow i will gert back to training puppies... but today problem is donkeys

 2020 12 15

Psychologically there's no way am I ready for 12 inches of snow -----they have to be kidding ....and they use the word tomorrow which made it even worse ..there was some rumor about transporting a bunch of donkeys from Westerville OH to Ipswich on Wednesday ..  granted it's rumor 'cause I haven't talked to the pwner   Pat  But if he was going to disband the Buckeye donkey ball company  ---  I did say I would take a few because they would be a huge asset around here because they are so in tune to just wandering around the public .. they're beautifully cared for usually----   and very well bred c // so I do think if he's going to give up the project I would take a half dozen of his donkeys and they would be a big asset . Mind you I have not seen his operation so the Frank died 10 years ago or so .. it's worth a gamble ...

my car will not push around 12 inches of snow .. what I usually do is plow every four  or 5 inches and at least get the driveway open so volunteers and staff can get in here it's very easy the car is warm you push the button at the plough angles I'm very comfortable ----however ifif that 12 inches  piles up over night when I'm asleep and it gets much beyond 6 inches my car won't push it and then it's the tractor with the cab...heated   cab   that is plugged in I saw it yesterday but Bud did tell me the battery is not the greatest that we really should get another one I said fine but I didn't do it so the tractor that has the Cam on it which is heated and I don't mind using might not start in which case the smaller tractor with pretty much the same bucket doesn't have a cab I don't want to plow with that .

. so you see I've got a problem ...  unless maybe I can find a battery for the tractor with the heated cab ..

my other asset for a 12 inch snow storm is the Teague  family with a bunch of kids that we gave annie's car to..along with colbys car ( for new people ....Colby equals grandson --- )----- The deal I made was they could have the two cars ..  colbys would go through inspection and annie's was locked up and wouldn't  move  for two years but they couol.d take it apart and learn things...   the  mike row way    ...and then  in return they would show up the whole family with snow  shovels thon shovel out the kennels which have to be done by hand because you can't get the snow blower in there .. it was a super deal for us becausw their kids are home schooled ... and available at all blizzards ... .

why donkeys?   Aside From the fact that I like donkeys .. I was I think the first one in the country to drive 8 mini donkeys which I did constantly and did a lot of parades and things very successfully ------the donkeys were terrific .. my very favorite animal lifewise was Mary who was a mamouth donkey then I bought as a 6 month old baby while wandering around Kansas ... looking for a stud   dane    .. I landed in that area because I somehow had a free ticket to Saint Louis from Boston .. and at the moment I wanted to breed a female dog .and nobody with AKC Great Dane would let me use it because I didn't have papers on her ...

I can try and cut down the story as to why === it's pretty long ...however ..

I had had 2 great Danes given to me by the Danvers animal control officer because Danvers did not have kennels the size that would hold a Great Dane so she kept dropping them off in my barn and I got to see how nice they were as dogs .. so I decided to buy a puppy myself .. and I noticed every breeder I went to bragged about how much BMW bloodlines they had in their line .. so I decided to go to the BMW kennel which was in Long Island .. ------- I told you this was a long story -----I bought a puppy there female   “tiffany”   and the deal was if I bred her ----- the owner of the BMW kennel .. Laura ...  was to pick the stud and she would get half the purchase price of anything she helped sell .. so we bred Tiffany who had eight puppies .. and Laura gave me her advice all the way along the line and after six weeks or so I made the comment that I thought I would keep one of the puppies and Laura said “Oh no you can't ---I have them all sold  and  said well maybe if we breed her again I'll let you keep one”    this was my introduction to AKC thinking.   .. so I said well to hell with that I'll just keep them all which is how I ended up with nine Great Danes  that ended up doing jobs and earlier keep very nicely a great dogs .... so when I wanted to breed any of those I needed to find a stud dog which is why I ended up in Saint Louis -------

In  a Kansas city coffee shop—I got talking to a woman  kaylee beale who’s hobby it was to raise mamouth donkeys—which I saw and fell in lovr weith..and bought/

I shipped “mary” eastward on a  race horse van—which at that time ran back and forth coast to coast on a regular schedule.and  mary became an institution around here.

I could fill a book on mary stories...

So I keep thinking I might find another donkey like  mary... which is why ..i’d take 6 of pat’s buckeye donkeys...

So there !!

To help Janine with her donkey saving project, she has some “buy a bale “ fundraiser  at the topsfield  coop hay store... ....and needs the horse trailer there by 7:30..

Her truck is involved somewhere ielse.. so ...

I better get to it

The next  48 hours could get exciting
