BEING A VERY LIVELY PUP... HE FLEW AT IT- WHICH I KNE HE WOULD... NORMAL PEOP[LE WIOULD LIFT THE PLATE OUT OF HIS REACH-- I DO NOT. .. I SNAPPED HIS NOSE EVERY TIME HE GOT WITHIN 4 INCHES.. I SNAPPED WITH INCREASING "SNAP" -- IT TOOK ABOUT 6. snaps. THEN HE TURNED HIS HEAD AWAY.. AT WHICH TIME I GAVEE HIM A COOKIE. COUPLE PEOPLE WERE ALL UPSET I WAS CONFUSING THE DOG... HENRY HAD NO CONFUSION WHATSO EVER... HE FOUND OUT THAT PLATE WAS MINE.... NOT HIS. THEREAFTER HE CAME OVER FOR A HEAD RUB AND ROLLED HIS EYES AT THAT PLATE AS HE WENT BY, BUT .... HE GOT TEH MESSAGE... NOW AS HE BECOMES THE 180 POUND ADULT.... HE STANDS A CHANCE OF HAVING A WONDERFUL LIFE INSTEAD OF THE OUT OF CONTROL DANE WHO ENDS UP IN RESCUE BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS AFRAID TO DISCIPLINE...

I/WE NEED HELP READING ALL THE " STUFF" COMING DOWN ABOUT THE UNEMPLOYMENT. - I GET BAD VIBES ABOUT EVERYONE TRYING TO COLLECT FROM THERE . FOR ALOT OF REASONS.... PERSON "A" THAT I KNOW... FILED IMMEDIATELY WHEN THIS STARTED 3 WEEKS AGO AND HAD HAS NOT GOT A PENNY YET. BUT I DID GET INTHE MAIL 3 UNEMPLOYMENT FORMS FOR 2 PEOPLE-----SOMEONE WHO WORKED HERE ONE DAY LAST NOVEMBER 2019 (FOR WHOM I GOT 2 LETTERS) AND ANOTHER WHO WORKED A MONTH IN DECEMBER 2019-- IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE HAVING COMPUTER PROBLEMS.... we are paying reg salary this pay period... and down teh pike we need to think it over.

i know i am spending alot less...(. and loosing weight becaause of.... well not eating so much !!!!)

HOWEVER IF THEY THEN HAD TO GO ON UNEMPLOYMENT WOULD THE LOWER SALARIE EFFECT WHAT THEY COULD GET FROM THE GOVT?

i did call every one who has oneof our "furloughed dogs--- everyone is "with it" and doing fine even tho housetraining is a bit of a challange. i asked everyone to send me an email----- i wanted to get every's email on a file so i could send notices to all at once in a group--- like yesterday ... nice rain... denis got the spreader on the smaller tractor and spread lime and fertalizer all over my various "green" projects ( aka lawn... like the flat field) this meant if anyone wanted to come run dogs they shoulc use teh puppy hill.... arena... or icu.. areas... because we have anasty beaver in the pond area. too. probably give i t one more day before we use the flat field... and for those who have not sent me the email so i can copy paste...please do.

for those worried about impending puppies... megan is on that.. will be at her house.. her dogs going to devin... megans mom... aside from being a super relish maker is very competent and will be a huge help.

Update from Fiona and SD Elvis:

Well it has definitely been a crazy few weeks! With everything going on around the COVID19 it has meant that we spend most of our time inside away from others. I have been doing a lot of studying for classes online while also continuing to manage my health.
In-between working on school and work, Elvis and I try to get out for walks in quiet areas. Elvis loves running around the woods to get out some energy since we are not working out and about as much as normal. This does mean that I have to use my crutches a little more often which has led to a number of falls, it is a GREAT reminder for how much Elvis has changed my life and my mobility. Service Dog Project truly changed my life more then I could have ever imagined when they donated Elvis to me.
We do still get out to go to the hospital a couple times a week but other then that we are just staying home.
We hope everyone is staying safe and we hope you enjoy some pictures from a couple weeks ago ❤️

because of my situation I have not left home since Oct 4th for a doctor’s appointment & lab work.

So, I should be quite safe from exposure to the coronavirus, right? No, wrong.

An individual I know very well who was experiencing mild symptoms of the illness but concealing them from others was in my home on St. Patrick’s Day ,He fell seriously ill the next day & was tested for the virus, the results of which finally came back positive yesterday.

The irony of my situation is inescapable - what are the odds of a person who has not left their home for nearly six months being exposed to one of the first 10 cases in their county & likely first 25 in their state? If that person is not safe, no one is safe.

finally time to figure out why i am so anti modern communications.... i went to the mailcall computer--A---’’’ i was animalep@aol.com but could not use teh password i had written so i with difficulty changed it and wrote it on the computer on tape.. i wenrt away and came back 10 min later to check the email and teh password did not work because i was not on safari, but chrome so i entered/ changed all that to match.. came into my room... new computer- for some reason it thoughti was carlene 1001@gmail so i got tht turned back to animalep--- and the passoord from computera did not match so i wanted to change it to match teh other--- and i can’t use that one becuse i havee used it before...

who’s counting? permutations combinations------that is 2 computers 2(safari/chorme) and 2names and 2 passwords... and you know.... i can’t keep it straight.

Hi Carlene, after reading the DD today, it reminds me of a deaf woman I met back in 1971 while in college at Mount Wachusett in Gardner Mass. For a few years I had been reading in our local paper of a deaf skier from Fitchburg Mass. Her name is Tammy Marcinuk, and we ended up in a few classes together. I immediately wanted to meet her and we became good friends. Her issue was she did not want the professor of the history class to know she was deaf. We sat next to each other, and I would try to sign her what he was saying, and needless to say I was not very good about it . Tammy was more comfortable reading lips, so that's what we did. Well, one day after class, the professor told Tammy and I he needed to see us, and we were accused of cheating. To her embarrassment, I told the professor she was deaf and all I was doing was relaying what he was saying, not cheating. As I told him, if she was going to cheat it would not be off of me as I was not the best student !! He was mad as he was not made aware of this issue until we were caught, but said he would have to monitor what I was telling her. We really didn't care at this point, and knew we would quit that class soon anyway. Tammy taught me basic signs to communicate with her, and that was the catalyst for her to extend her education to go on to teach deaf students around the country, which she did. If you google her name, you will see in her skiing career, she went on to win 5 gold medals, some silver medals and bronze ones in the Deaf Olympics, she skied all over the world. and became a huge promoter of deaf people participating in sports. She was a true hero to so many, and her story stays with me whenever I encounter deaf people or more lately with the news stations having a sign language person on tv. A big thrill for me was going to her house where she let me hold the medals and she would tell me the stories of her world travels. I like to think that my going up to her that day and wanting to meet and talk with her was a turning point for her as she was incredibly shy around people and felt she could not fit in with her hearing disability. I took her to college parties when she was comfortable enough to go and I feel I opened up a part of the local world to her. So that is a little info on deafness, and also my husband suffers from severe, or as the doctor called it profound hearing loss due to his military service. Just do the best you can !!Thank you for all you do, and especially the DD, and I ordered the book on line yesterday and should have it by Wednesday this week !

Hi, Carlene!

One of my childhood friends had grandparents who were deaf.

She spent one summer teaching me the ASL alphabet, which I remember to this day.

I became skilled in spelling words & got quite proficient in signing the Our Father as I walked around the block at dusk, a peaceful ending to a busy day when kids were kids & every summer day a happy adventure.

Only problem was that my friend taught me just two symbols — those for cake & pie.

On second thought perhaps that wasn’t such a bad thing.

Sometimes what you need to cheer your soul are cake & pie.

Like today.

And every day in the foreseeable future. 🎂 🥧

Dear Carlene,

Pixie has been doing really well. She’s adjusting to not getting out but we are making the best of the what we call the normal for now to stay healthy. We spend time outside in the fresh air, we also work on keeping on her training in the yard so it’s a di setting then just the house so she doesn’t lose her skills. She’s doing fabulous and we do this this each day, along with inside training. We been really trying to keep busy at home.

Life has changed. It is unclear how long this virus will persist, but here are some precautions which may control its spread and one's exposure.

It seems that Covid-19 persists on objects for varying lengths of time. Most of what is published says hours or more. It is speculated that contact with infected surfaces may be sufficient to contract the virus. The virus most commonly enters the body by means of the face. The mucus membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth are the most common points of entry for the virus.

Masks, if of sufficient filtration capabilities, will help prevent an individual from becoming infected by inhaling the virus from a cough or someone's breath, but the 6' precautions and proper coughing techniques (into bend of elbow) limit that type of spread, if followed.

From what is written, it seems that hand-to-face infection is most common. That means that gloves are more important for protection from infection than masks. While in public, wearing disposable gloves will provide more protection than a mask, so long as one keeps a 6+ foot distance-barrier and otherwise protects against airborne viral particles; i.e. don't let anyone cough in your face.

The most important result of wearing gloves is that it reminds us not to touch our face. Before entering your safe zone, such as car or home, remove gloves and wash your hands the 20 seconds or more suggested. (Alcohol cleansers are also effective, but it is best to wash them. At least do something.)

Gas pumps and cash are concerning. It is unclear if either of these can transmit the virus, but caution is suggested. Lots of people handle those gas pumps and lots of people have handled your change. Gloves should be worn while pumping gas and it might be a good time for full service gas stations to reemerge and give people jobs. Until then, the use of gloves is recommended when touching objects frequently touched by others. Cash transactions should be minimized. It is difficult to envision a better means of spreading an infection than cash.

There is so little known about the transmission of this virus that it is important to follow the recommendations provided by the CDC and other agencies who know much more about this than I. Follow the distance and group limitation recommendations, wear disposable gloves in public, wash hands frequently and limit the use of cash. Credit cards are more easily cleaned.

Fact is, while quarantine practices are taught in medicine, they have rarely been executed on this scale. The only experience I have had with quarantines came from yrs of horse experience during which several out-breaks of infection required quarantines. One thing I do know is that we would never have let horses use the same gas pump or pass around cash when trying to contain something...

Eat smart, get plenty of fresh air and sunshine. This too shall pass...

Glad to hear you are staying well.

I have a couple photos to share from a few weeks ago having spent the evening with Mike and Iggy. Mike treated us to a meatloaf dinner and Iggy provided the entertainment.

They are both doing well. Mark and I watched as Iggy got the royal treatment for his own dinner before we sat down to eat.

Iggy is very good at never leaving Mike’s side. Any little move Mike makes his shadow is there with him. That includes bathroom trips. I imagine that’s kind of awkward depending on the size of the bathroom. Hahaha

Mike bought another vehicle. It’s vintage and he calls it The Iggymobile. It’s a Jeep, originally made in Toledo, sent to California and purchased by a man for his Great Dane, Rocky. Rocky has since passed and the fellow was THRILLED that Rocky’s car has become Iggy’s car.

Here are the photos. Mark is the fellow playing with Iggy. Iggy loves attention and should you stop, one mammoth paw encourages you to start up again. And if you’re not quick enough, two mammoth paws get involved. Remain well, my best, Dawn

TIME BUT THAT COUDL CHANGE THE MINUTE YOU STOPPED TO BUY SOME FOOD.. ANYWHERE.

THERE IS APPARENTLY ONLY A PERCENT OF POSITIVES WHO SHOW ANY SIGN

BUT ALL ARE CONTAGEOUS....

SO IN SPITE OF ALL YOU DO, IF YOU EAT FOOD, DRINK WATER YOU COULD BE EXPOSED

even by someone who just tested negative.

MEGAN DID A GREat job getting the dogs stashed when we heard teh first "stay home" order...

which was before teh mass gov then excluded animal and livestock care personell.

she apparently stashed tehm til april 6th... leaving me totally up in the air as to what to do/plan... planning is long gone...

my temp has been less than 98 taken 5 times a day for 10? days?

and the worse problem i have is eating a 1/2 cooked big mac which is rushing around inside my tummy.

having had a macdonalds problem.. it seems a good chooice to have chef michael cook some meals for us

i have asked him to take his temp 4 times a day in prep for his cooking bere on friday\

dennis is here for all 7 days 7 to 4--his mother tested negative which is interesting but meaningless

there is no absolute preventative.
