SEPT 10 2018
4PM MEETING TOWN HALL-- # 1  ipswich is a  "right to farm community" so all that is left is to prove we are a farm... we certainly have been... i made a list of teh animals we have had over the past 35 years and looking it over, the developement next door shoudl be thankful i have only chickens-- and roosters--- donkeys and dogs...  they are very lucky i  don't go back to my pigeon and pig stage...
pigs are  incredibly noisy-- and smelly-- and pigeons really leave their mark

why did animal episodes exist????  does anyone know of another person (outfit)  in new england who would  arrive on teh roof of a boston hotel at the predetermined time with a 500 pound pig that had been scrubbed clean-- to be hugged by some holywood actor for a photo in the boston newspapers???  we did that---
or another  really tough one... get 4 pigs in harness to stand in front of  santa's sleigh up on a 18 inch high platform in a studio while shreaded plastic snow blew all over the place... that was for hood milk...  i don't make these things up... i don't have to.  we--- animal episodes  did that job-- for hood milk--  the proof is around somewhere-- i would not be surprized if the proof was still all over the truck's steering wheel  we used to pull the tractor trailer to haul those pigs in to the boston studio...   because to control the pigs i devised a method of a spray bottle of diluted honey-they would go anywhere while  having honey sprayed in their mouths.-- the rest of that story  is........ my son in law - ron - and i were managing the 2 front pigs-- and they were a moving taRGET-- SO THAT BOTH OF US OFTEN MISSED THE PIG'S MOUTH AT WHICH POINT WE SPRAYED EACH OTHER WITH HONEY... -- ADD THAT TO THE BLOWING PLASTIC SNOW- AND AFTER THAT SHOT WE LOOKED LIKE THE 2 ABOMINABLE SNOWMENS. WE HAD A REPUTATION OF SOMEHOW PULLING OFF THESE IMPOSSIBLE SOUNDING JOBS... just
TAKE A SHOWER AND CASH THE CHECK...  IT PAID WELL-- it also meant i had a bunch of pigs here to try and train for these  jobs ...  they are intelligent ,strong, noisy and smelly .

and then the pigoens-- the neighbors would be very unhappy  to replace the dogs with pigeons... i used pigeons-- often--  all those pigoens you see flying  poetically in front of the lens opf teh  movie caneras  are just me.. under some parked car with a shirt full of pigoens - unzip and release... not a problem
the rest of that story is-- historically i would pay the kids ( mine or others)  $1 a captured pigeon- and they would go out under the bridges of rt 95 at night and get me dozens for a job the next day..  i woudl release them- and they woudl probably  be back under the same bridge before i got  home.
then it was decided all pigeons in movies had to be banded homers-- so i got in the homing pigeon business-- what is now the white giraffe tent  was a smaller version - a "flyway" where i kept pigoens-- and eventually white pigeons ( those are never white doves that are released... whtie doves don't fly alot-- if tossed  they land and walk off-- usually not what somene planned but they look identical to white pigonens ) well all those pigoens i my flyway had to be let out to practice flying around their home--- and then i wold take themm further an furter away for tehm to fly home- where they would go in the coop..
it sounds sooooo  organized....
problem was on the way up route 95 they invited all their cousin pigoens to  join them-- and the cousins did not go  into the coop  but set up pigoen condos in the  whole neighborhood-- like my t tent and  various overhangs  within 1/8 mile..  pigoens  do not have their own portapotties, and  whatever they produce not only lands on cars, it "leaves it's mark"  --
thus ended my pigoen episode-- i was easier to rent someone else's homers...

it was a strange  farm that supported  one's college kids.... but it  did..
I OFTEN SAID ... and still do say--- i have shampooed more cows than i have milked...  cows do imply farm.
the meeting at teh own hall is 4:00 today-- with just the  town officials, partridgeberry developement and  sdp  ( megan and steve will be there too)
that means mail call may be later than usual...
the town hall is about 1/2 hour away  -- with the meeting at 4...

DEAR CARLENE,

THIS WAS AN INCREDIBLE WEEKEND, ALL MADE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF SDP, SO I WANT TO THANK YOU. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR NOT ONLY SEAGRAM, BUT THE CONNECTIONS THROUGH SDP.

ON FRIDAY, MY HUSBAND DROVE SEAGRAM & I TO CONNECTICUT SO THAT WE COULD MEET STACY. AS FELLOW RECIPIENTS, STACY AND I HAVE BECOME CLOSE BUT HAD NEVER MET, SO THIS WAS VERY EXCITING!! IT WAS AN HONOR TO BE WITH HER THE EVENING BEFORE HER WEDDING AND TO MEET HER WONDERFUL FAMILY. ALSO, IT WAS DELIGHTFUL TO SEE SEAGRAM RUNNING WITH HER SISTER PIXIE.

ON SATURDAY, WE ATTENDED STACY’S WEDDING, WHICH WAS A BEAUTIFUL EVENT. STACY WAS ACCOMPANIED DOWN THE AISLE BY HER FATHER ON ONE SIDE AND PIXIE ON THE OTHER. A CP, NAN, OFFICIATED A LOVELY CEREMONY. WE WERE SEATED WITH NAN AT THE RECEPTION AND IT WAS NICE TO GET TO KNOW HER.

MY HUSBAND AND I (AND OF COURSE SEAGRAM) STAYED AT A BED AND BREAKFAST FOR THE WEEKEND. THE PROPRIETOR WAS INITIALLY NERVOUS ABOUT HAVING SUCH A BIG DOG STAYING THERE, BUT SEAGRAM OF COURSE WON HER OVER WITH HER PERFECT BEHAVIOR. THE PROPRIETOR’S HUSBAND ALSO COMMENTED ON HER GOOD MANNERS.

PRIOR TO OUR MATCH, IT HAD BEEN QUITE CHALLENGING FOR ME TO TRAVEL LIKE THIS, BUT SEAGRAM HELPED TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE.

YESTERDAY AS WE RODE THE FERRY HOME, IT WAS A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY — SEAGRAM RODE A FERRY TWO YEARS AGO TO COME HOME WITH ME!! IT HAS BEEN AN INCREDIBLE TWO YEARS. I CAN’T THINK OF A BETTER WAY TO CELEBRATE THAT ANNIVERSARY THAN THE WAY WE DID — MEETING ANOTHER RECIPIENT WHO HAS BECOME A WONDERFUL FRIEND, WATCHING SEAGRAM RUN WITH HER SISTER, AND THE HONOR OF BEING A GUEST AT STACY’S WEDDING.

SEAGRAM HAS BEEN SUCH A BLESSING, IN SO MANY WAYS. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR HER AND FOR THE FRIENDSHIPS THAT HAVE RESULTED THROUGH THOSE I HAVE MET BECAUSE OF SDP.

GEORGE HAD ANOTHER GOOD DAY. HE WILL BE ALL SET FOR SCHOOL TOMORROW. BELLA FOUND A TRICK TO GIVE HIM MEDS. A SLICE OF HOT DOG WITH THE MED PUSHED INSIDE. SINCE HE GETS 3 PILLS TWICE A DAY HE IS ENJOYING HIS HOT DOG TREATS. HE ATE GREAT YESTERDAY BUT DIDN'T WANT DINNER TONIGHT. THAT IS SOME DAYS NORMAL FOR HIM TO SKIP A MEAL. CRAZY I KNOW, BUT OTHERWISE HE HAS BEEN DOING GOOD. SO HE WILL BE ON MEDS FOR 4 WEEKS AND THEN WILL HAVE ANOTHER CBC BLOOD TEST DONE TO MAKE SURE ALL HIS LEVELS ARE BACK TO NORMAL. BELLA SURE IS HAPPY HE IS BETTER AND WILL BE BACK BY HER SIDE AT SCHOOL. HE DID GET THE WEEKEND OFF FROM WORKING TO MAKE SURE HE WAS RECOVERED. BUT IT WAS SO SCARY FRIDAY MORNING WHEN HE WAS SO LETHARGIC. SO HAPPY HE IS BACK TO HIS HAPPY SELF. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE WONDERFUL KIND COMMENTS OF LOVE AND SUPPORT. LOVE BELLA AND GEORGE

DEAR CARLENE,                                              SEPTEMBER 9, 2018
I'M BETSY SCHMIDT....CP WOODSYGIRL
THIS IS ABOUT MOVING NEXT TO A FARM WITH NOISE.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH NOISE. I MOVED TO A SMALL TOWN LAST YEAR,
DUNSMUIR, CA. ITS A TRAIN TOWN. I LIVE DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET
FROM THE TRAIN STATION. I ASSUMED THERE WAS MAYBE TWO TRAINS A DAY. I DID NOT CHECK BEFORE I MOVED IN. THERE ARE 10-20 TRAINS A DAY, MORNING AND NIGHT. I SHOULD HAVE DONE MY HOMEWORK. I CANNOT COMPLAIN BECAUSE IT IS MY FAULT FOR NOT FINDING OUT AHEAD OF TIME. AND YES, THIS DOES DISRUPT OUR SLEEP. BUT AGAIN IT IS OUR FAULT AND OUR CHOICE. I CANNOT FORCE THE TRAINS TO STOP MAKING NOISE.

DUNSMUIR, CA IS ON AN EVACUATION WARNING BECAUSE OF THE DELTA FIRE. WE HAVE OUR CARS AND TRUCKS PACKED AND ARE READY TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. IT IS NOT MANDATORY YET. THE FIRE IS 12 MILES AWAY. IT IS NOT CONTROLLED AS OF TODAY, SUNDAY. WE HAVE HEAVY SMOKE SINCE WEDNESDAY. OUR MAIN FREEWAY, INTERSTATE 5, IS CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. THIS FREEWAY GOES FROM MEXICO TO CANADA. THERE IS NO ESTIMATION WHEN IT WILL OPEN. IT IS A STRESSFUL TIME FOR THE WHOLE AREA. THREE HUGE FIRES BACK TO BACK. THESE ARE MOUNTAIN TOWNS HERE INCLUDING MT. SHASTA, CA.
THOUGHT YOU MIGHT FIND THIS INTERESTING.
HUGS FOR YOU AND YOUR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS,

BETSY SCHMIDT
