GREEN GRASS--- OR EVEN GREEN WEEDS... IT HAS BEEN A STRUGGLE TO BEAT BACK TEH FOREST EVER SINCE I MOVED IN HERE..-- BUT THERE WAS A SHORT SPELL MAYBE 6 YEARS AGO WHEN THE FLAT FIELD WAS RELATIVELY GREEN -- ESPECIALLY AFTER THE DANDELIONS BLOOMED AND WE HAD JUST THE GREEN LEFT...NOW DON'T YOU ALL WRITE ME ABOUT MAKING WINE OUT OF THE DANDELIONS BECAUSE YOU MUST FACTOR IN THE AMMOUNT OF URINE PRODUCED BY THE 10 TO 20 GRET DANES WHO USE THAT FIELD NOT ONLY FOR EXERCISE.... SO TEH DEBATE OF TEH DAY.. IS.. SHOULD I SPREAD A HEALTHY LAYER OF LIME OVER THE WHOLE THING, ALONG WIT THE FERTALIZER WE SPREAD YESTERDAY??? I AM SURE YOU ALL ARE AWARE OF HOW MOST PEOPLE SPREAD STUFF ON THEIR LAWNS.... HOWEVER, LET ME TELL YOU HOW WE DO IT AT SDP...
THE PLACE IS TOO BIG FOR A WALK BEHINDER... AND TOO SMALL FOR A PROPER SPREADER... THAT LEAVES A GIZMO IN TEH HITCH OF MYT CAR...HOW MANY PEOPLE DOES IT TAKE TO SPREAD FERTALIZER???? IT MAY TAKE ONLY ONE FOR THE PROPER SPREADERS, BUT OUR RIG TOOK 4 OF US..... THE GIZMO GOES IN TEH TRAILER HITCH PLACE.. AS LONG AS THE BACK DOOR/HATCH IS OPEN WIDE...THEN HAS 2 "STRINGS" ONE IS AN ELECTRICAL CORD WHICH PLUGS INTO THE CIGRETTE LIGHTER AND HAS AN ON/ OFF SWITCH 1/2 WAY ALONG THAT CORD... THE OTHER IS JUST A ROPE TO ALLOW THE FERTALIZER TO DROP ONTO A SPINNING WHEEL AND GET FLUNG.. USUALLY ABOUT 30 FEET- BUT SINCE OUR FLINGER WAS FAULTY IT WAS FLINGING ONLY ABOUT 15 FEET TOTHE LEFT. WE CAN DEAL...
I DROVE ... VERY CAREFULLY THRU GATES WITH AN INCH ON EITHER SIDE.... GRACE WAS IN CHARGE OF THE ON /OFF SWITCH... WHICH BECUSE MY TOYOTA IS LONGER THAN THE DURANGO ---WHICH WAS THE LAST SPREADER VEHICLE.---. SHE HAD TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT..--- WHILE JACKY - IN THE FRONT SEAT HAD THE MOST CHALLANGING JOB OF KEEPING THE ELECTRIC CORD PLUGGED INTOTHE CIGARETT LIGHTER . HER JOB WAS COMPLICATED BY THE FACT THAT ARIOT HAD TO BE IN THE CAR WITH GRACE- BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE ARIOT IS MOST COMFORTABLE.. BUT SINCE ARIOT IS ALSO DEAF AND NEEDS TO KEEP HER FAULTY EYESIGHT ON GRACE, SHE CONSTANTLY TURNED CIRCLES TANGLING THISES 2 WIRES/STRINGS--- ALSO BEING DEAF IT WAS POINTLESS TO TELL HER TO HOLD STILL SO SHE CONSTANTLY UNPLUGGED TEH ELECTRICAL CONTAC FROM THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER STOPPING THE FLINGING SO WE WOULD HAVE TO BACK UP AND RE CALCULATE THE LEFT HAND FLINGING... I WAS NOT ONLY THE DRIVER, BUT ALSO THE PERSON TO RECALCULATE THE FLINGING TO THE ALREADY FLUNG BY STICKING MY HEAD OUT THE WINDOW AND YELLING "PULL" AT JACKY WITH TEH ROPE....
DAVID HUNG AROUND AND WAITED TO HELP REFIL THE GIZMO-- IT HELD ONLY 160 PONDS... 2 BAGS... AT A TIME..
THUSLY TEH "PASTURE FERTALIZER" GOT SPREAD...
***
THE BAG ALSO SAYS" OK TO LET ANIMALS OUT RO GRAZE AFTER IT GETS RAINED ON... WHICH IT DID LAST NIGHT... AS PLANNED...
NEXT PROBLEM.... IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I HAD SUCH A GOO D LOOK AT THE ACTUAL FIELD, AND HTERE ARE PLACES WHERE THE "TOP SOIL" IS JUST GONE... SO I REALLY OUGHT TO ADD SOME OF MY 3 YEAR OLD HORSE MANURE IN PLACES.. THIS MAY GIVE THE FIELD A "HARLEQUIN " LLOK, AND NOT THE VELVET GREEN MEGAN IS THINKING ABOUT...
SO I AM BACK TO "TO LIME OR NOT TO LIME... THAT IS THE QUESTION" THE OTHER QUETION IS IF I DUMP AND BACK DRAG MORE TOP SOIL , WILL THAT HINDER OUR LIMING EXERCISE-- OR SHOULD I LIME FIRST THEN DUMPO AND DRAG...
****
I BET YOU NEVER KNEW HTE DETAILS OF TRYING TO RAISE DANES WOULD GET SO COMPLICATED... LIKE HEALTH CARE?
*****
ALSO BEFORE ANYONE HAMMERS AT ME FOR DRIBVING A BIG SUV,, JUST ADD UP THE WEIGHT OF LIVE BODIES ALONG WITH 600 POUNDS OF BAGGED FERTALIZER IN THE POOR TOYOTA
*..**
I HAVE TO ADD ONE OTHER FACT FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.... ANY GOOD FARMER CAN "CAST" SEED AT "SIX SEEDS TO THE INCH" --THERE ARE CONTESTS AT FAIRS-- OR THERE USED TO BE.-- SO AFTER ALL THIS OTHER STUFF GETS DONE, I HAVE 50 POUNDS OF SEED TO TRY AND FILL THE HOLES WITH GREEN MATERIAL IN THE FLAT FIELD AND THE POND.....
IF NONE OF IT WORKS I WILL HAVE NO USE FOR THE JOHN DEERE MOWER SITTING IN THE G TENT, GROWING GREEN STUFF IS MORE GRACE'S STREGNTH.... NOT MINE.
---
SHE TELLS ME SHE HAS PLANTED TEH PEAS ALONG THE FENCE..
THERE IS NOTING LIKE A HANDFUL OF RAW PEAS RIGHT OUT OF THE GARDEN... AND THEY MUST BE PLANTED AS SOON AS THE FROST IS GONE... LIKE NOW.

Eve got a new wheelchair yesterday!! It's a little big but some adjustments are being made hopefully that will do the trick. It even has Spinergy wheels with pink carbon fiber spokes cool huh?
While Finn has helped her to walk better further than before in a short period of time, the idea of her never needing a wheelchair is not realistic. The last 4 weeks have been a good example. She fell after her arm surgery and likely suffered a minor femur fracture. The rods in the bone kept it stable and pain under control but still she was unable to weight bear for about 2 weeks (without the rods she'd be nonweight bearing for 6-8 weeks with even a minor femur fracture) So we are giving the current pain time to also possibly subside before jumping in with X-rays otherwise my girl would be glowing green if we always X-rayed immediately. After 9 years and over 75 fractures I have gotten pretty good at making "clinical diagnosis" and deciding when an X-ray is needed 'now' or 'wait and see'.
I'm giving the ankle another week or so but very consistently she walks about the distance of 1 room and then asks for her chair - even that distance we can see the strain. So we'll see but I'm not feeling to good about.
The great thing is she has this "Wild Thing" and she and Finn played outside together tonight for quite some time! Finn chased and chased her and ran after sticks she threw!
Goodnight all! Thanks for checking in ❤ Eve & Finn
