THE COUGH-- IT IS A VERY COMMON THING- AND I TALKED TO GEORGE- HE SUGGESTED ALL YOU WITH HEALTHY DOGS SHOULD BE FINE AT DOG FEST IF VACINATED  AND  IT  WOULD BE OK TO GO  GET TEH VACINE NOW.
NOT ALL DOGS  GET TEH COUGH- teh virus  IS SO CONTAGEOUS THAT I AM PRETTY SURE  ALL OF OURS THAT ARE GOING TO GET IT,  NOW HAVE IT. AnD WE DO HAVE A BUNCH...  SIZZLE BEING ONE OF THEM-
so now  the pups have it too...    young pups can be vulernable  but we can  watch carefully,, take temps..  and hope it runs a minor course

SO WITH A 7-10 DAY TIME WHICH THEY SHEAD THEH VIRUS,T HEY SHOULD BE OVER  THE SHEADING VIRUS PART BY DOGFEST.   but don't kid yourself   IT IS ALL AROUND ANYWAY--- IT IS WHY I RARELY GO INTO A PET STORE-- A VET'S OFFICE- OR ANY WHERE THERE IS A BUNCH OF DOGS.  THIS KENNEL COUGH IS DARN ANNOYING BUT USUALLY THAT IS ALL IT IS.

I REMEMBER MY MOTHER TAKING MY SISTERS AND I  TO PLAY WITH SOMEONE  who had THE  MEASLES-- GET IT AND GET OVER IT-- THAT IS A bit of my philosophy with this-  it is around- regardless of how careful you can try to be.

i did grab these comments from teh akc
Kennel Cough is a highly contagious respiratory disease. Dogs commonly contract kennel cough at places where large amounts of canines congregate, such as boarding and daycare facilities, dog parks, training groups, and dog shows. Dogs can spread it to one another through airborne droplets, direct contact, or contaminated surfaces
It’s highly treatable in most dogs.
If your dog is hacking away or constantly making noises that make it sound like he's choking on something, he may have a case of kennel cough Although kennel cough can sound terrible, most of the time it is not a serious condition, and most dogs will recover without treatment.

similar to the human cold... there is no treatment for kennel cough--- i am not a medically educated but i seem to remember conversations about antibiotics do not treat a virus -- making  them useless unless the dog has something in addition to  the cough.

i have read lately that  some people give some kind of cough  medication-- that is new to me-- i will check with george to find out what that is.... and buy 2 gallons of it.

i wrote this opinion to someone-- keep in mind i have zero medical education.....it is an opinion...

this kennel cough has my attention for a bit--it is one of those things like a kid with a cold in kindergarrden  - granted one dog in 10000 may get pneumonia and need meds---- the rest just sound like they are going to die any moment...  IT IS A PARTICULARLY UNATTRACTIVE NOISE...
i don't knOw about th e IQ  of a virus, but this  one has a very clever way of getting passed around... ....
mommy dogs/ wolves---  trying to get their puppies on solid fiood- go catch a meal then come home and throw it up for the pups to eat the predigested rabbit or whatever...  consequently teh sound of a dog gagging and throwing up is more attractive to dogs than little else.  so when a dog staRTS WITH THE KENNEL COUGH-- EVERY DOG WITHING 100 FEET WILL RUN TO SEE IF THEY CAN SHARE  WHATEVER COMES OUT-- WHICH IN THIS CASE IS TEH VIRUS.... MAKING IT VERY CONTAGEOUS.-- LIKE OUR "COLD/FLU' IT IS AIRBORNE alsO... COUPLE THAT WITH THERE ARE CARRIERS WHO ARE SYMPTOM FREE... SO THE VIRUS IS ALL  AROUND- AND TO A HEALTHY DOG... IT IS JUST  ANNOYING.-- NO CURE- MEDS ONLY IF THEY GET SOMETHIGN ON TOP OF IT...LIKE PNEUMONIA...
