i have to be one of the worlds greatest growers of hair-- well .maybe not the world's... but eastern mass... or maybe  outer boxford road???  for a very long time i had a braid i could sit on when braided--  i had it for so  long, that to this day when i put on a jacket, i reach back and  try and flip the braid  out of the collar.. we are a creature of habit... when i donated it to locks of love, we had to re-write the rules for crazy acres.
RULES WHILE AT THE SERVICE DOG PROJECT
  • IF IT’S BROKEN, FIX IT
  • IF IT’S DIRTY, CLEAN IT
  • IF IT’S SMELLY, PICK IT UP
  • IF IT’S EMPTY, FILL IT
  • IF YOU TRIP OVER IT, MOVE IT
  • IF IT’S GOT FOUR LEGS AND A TAIL, LOVE IT
  • IF IT’S GOT TWO LEGS - IN A RED GOLF CART, LISTEN CLOSELY TO IT
A haircut necessitated a change to the last rule.  The original rule was...
IF IT’S GOT TWO LEGS AND A LONG BRAID DOWN ITS BACK, LISTEN CLOSELY TO IT

wonderful rules    written 100 years ago  by a someone i called my verbiage friend -- it is amazing how so many people have slid into critical roles  at SDP....there is a kuranda bed repair depaartment,  head  engineer of the door flap crew,  owner of hundreds of happy hats.to mention o a few...
**
now there is another topic -- i may have this all wrong... but.. a bunch of sdp volunteers got invited to a wedding of one of the recipients...
(?) of  argentiniean background? ---at the reception if drinks were served,   it was incidental.. but  at one point , they bought out cartons of hats, inviting everyont to put on one---  all different....-- and it transformed the crowd into  what would otherwise be considered a well hydrated, relaxed bunch of uninhibited happy  people.  those cases of hats did for the crowd what cases of champaign  would do in a different crowd.... with no hangover...  it was interesting.. as it is when camera mark shows up wih his collection of hats...  or when someone sends us  some foolish headgear for mail call...  it is the wd40 of the mind. .... it loosens us up.... i don't know why..
**
could be...... now here is a stretch.... when someone gets one of our dogs,  one of the benefits is that the general public's attention is deflected from the  recipients disability to the dog.  the dog becomes a conversation piece which does wonders for ptsd victums..  i can not tell you how many   --- because  i am an extremely poor in the memory department...  lets say it is not unusual for us to get thank you notes from recipinetn mentioning "now  they don't look at me like i am some drunk, but the look at the dog and talk to me.  somehow i don't think a funny hat would be suitable in htis situation... but a dog  works to provide the subtle distraction  ...
**
how does that "play"  with a society's desire to wear... or dress in ..what someone tells us is in fashion..-- not just women........ take men's ties..  men's minds ( or their wive's)  are constantly " adjusted" to buy narrow ties ... to big wide ties-- and the   tie clips to tie tacks. to keep them from blowing  or not blowing in the wind   come and go  as correct attire....
the training of the mind--- a madison ave speciality..... a teen ager has to dress in whatever teenagers dress in ... or they will be bullied.
that begins to sound like "if you put 3  teenage pups in a field, it will become 2 against 1 and the 1 can get badly hurt"
hmmmmmmm.

all this got started with a muslim woman in the news    covering up all thier hair... boy does that save money and get rid of a lot of hair related problems. i bet they don't  have to buy  hair setting gel, spray, tint or dye.....-- i can not say i have spent much on that... but the concept is there

bella and geoge
YESTERDAY WAS ANOTHER PART BEACH DAY. WE SPENT A COUPLE HOURS ON THE BEACH AND THEN WE WENT AND WALKED DOWN BEARSKIN NECK IN ROCKPORT. BELLA AND GEORGE WALKED 1/2 WAY OUT ON THE ROCKS. THEY ARE NICE WIDE FLAT ROCKS SO THAT MADE IT PRETTY EASY. BUT I WAS STILL IMPRESSED WITH HOW WELL THEY DID. THEN WE SAT AND RELAXED FOR A BIT BEFORE WALKING BACK. TODAY BELLA AND GEORGE SPENT MOST OF THE DAY WITH NANA. BELLA WAS PRETTY TIRED. SHE CAME HOME AND TOOK A NAP AND STILL WENT TO BED EARLY. WHEN I GOT HOME SHE TOLD ME HER BODY WAS TIRED AND SORE. SOMETIMES I WONDER HOW SHE WOULD BE IF SHE NEVER RECEIVED VIMIZIM. SEEING HOW SHE IS WHEN SHE IS DUE FOR INFUSION MAKES ME REALLY SEE HOW MUCH THIS DRUG IS CHANGING HER LIFE! HOW AMAZING IT IS! SHE MAY HAVE 6 HOURS A WEEK WHEN SHE CAN'T RUN AND PLAY, RIDE HER BIKE, AND GOOD OFF WITH FRIENDS BUT KNOWING THE BENEFIT IT IS SO WORTH THE 6 HOURS. I AM SO THANKFUL THIS DRUG IS HERE TO STAY AND SEEING THE BENEFITS IS AMAZING! THANK YOU FOR CHECKING IN!
 LOVE BELLA AND GEORGE

i had to include this david lettermn quote

"Here's what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first."
