July 25,2011

pups are doing great---- i was /am still worried about 2 of the chaos pups--- but i seem to remember from having children 50 years ago  or something-- that in the first day newborns often loose a bit of weight before they start to gain.

all well and good--- but i would prefer all the pups to do the same thing-- so monitoring chaos pup's weight is critical
the green pup went from 1.4  to 1.3-- but this morning is 1.6 ( one pound 6 oz)

the female with the stripe and "wing" went from 1.11 to 1.8  i am suspicious of that 1.11-- could be operator trouble--- i have not weighed her yet... i was most worried about greenie just  from the looks of her.

many exiting things yesterday---
last night somehow earline fell with a pup-- pup was fine-- but screaming--with that  chaos lept to her feet-- with that "let me help you kill it" routine that you see in dogs when they are faced with a confused animal..  just try and walk across our yard with an angry hen in your hands..  you will need a second person to fend off the dogs.

personally   i think this  concept is behind so many children being attacked by dogs.     .picture a child screaming about wanting an icecream cone being dragged by mom-- and think - how does the dog see that???  same as the angry hen--- or scared pup..  even the best dogs have that flash thru their minds.

i will never forget having 8 well controlled dogs loose at a great gadsby party-- everything was fine til they started dancing-- and i realized the dogs saw that as fighting  and  the pack  started to circle the dance floor--- waiting for  the charge.

experience often comes from bad expoerience

and last night's episode means that overnight--- and mos of the day-- we should keep the "gates" closed between chaos and olive--  if one of olive's pups gets a paw stuck in the slots of the fence-- chaos might charge-

gates closed.
********************
David arrived-- ( as in tucker's david) he had fun relaxing with the pups and friends...
one of whom cut my hair beneath the "mister" -soaking us to the skin--- but it was hot !!!

many kids enjoyed both olive's pups - and that "mister"

*********************
this 5 year plan---  i put down on paper what might happen/should happen-
most of the people reading this ( prior to sending it to fred) i don't think have an appreciation of what 24 graduates involves- i still think 24 is a possible number

tripping lightly thru the numbers... correct me if i am wrong...
24 graduates possibley means 30 pups

which we now have( nearly)  these will graduate  2012-2013
by 2013 we will be out of dogs... unless we have more pups  in 2012  which would be the graduates of 2013-2014--- then one more time--- to have pups to graduate in 2014-2015means 30 pups in 2013

if you slice thru that time line-- at any time megan - colleen and i would be dealing with 24 pups in training--  a kennel person with volunteers would be waltzing around with  another 30

and volunteers would be chasing 30 babies around the plnd... sort of.

in other words we would have about 90 dogs on the property-
that is the number to focus on...
and it is do-able--  time wise--
we would need 2 more people

and everyone would have to accept training a  dog is done in 15 minute segments-- with a hell of a lot of sitting around drinking coffee "achieving boredom"

did that 90 dogs knock the socks off anyone???
*******************
 today
first off-- go take a shower  ( i slept with chaos last night)--
the coffee is helping--- but today will be a long haul..

the rest of the day teaching dogs to achieve boredom as i will be in blind stagger mode
and pistol wore out visiting canines in the pond--
