WOW___ looking over old emails i came to thie one  how to get ready for a blizzard-- this is before teh autostart generator where the barn would have no heat if we lost electricity....--i had to get the dogs out.

we have no dogs left  in the barn----- i have farmed them all out.

 

 LYN HAS THREE- AND WAS LAST HEARD MENTIONING VERY QUIETLY TO THE DOGS IN HER VAN as she drove out of sight    KNOCK IT OFF

THERESA (KYLE) HAS   JASPER-

SOMEBODY  HAS DIDI and mannie

NOEL and her mom have the sofas in the laundry ( laundry has a wood stove)

GIGI  and rhea have the 2 "stalls"  in the laundry

CHAOS and her mom lindsay are in the guest house with fido ( and megan WITH WOOD STOVE.

 i have BAILEY BOBBY AND INDY  

megan has m,ade her first bunch of sticky rolls

bud filled the tractor with diesel 

2 loads of wood are in the walkway

the fire extingusihers are lined up 

that walkway is dynomite -- megan ran over to checkj the laundry no problem

 TRACTOR IS PARKED BY THE HOUSE...

and the driveway is plowed for the first time PLAN IS TO PLOWE EVERY 4 INCHES

 if th e power fails ---i am ready !!

AH... THE  MEMORIES

AND TEH MEMORY OF ALL THAT CAME TO SHOVEL  THE KENNELS OUT AFTER THAT BIG STORM.

 IT IS ALONG THOSE LINES THAT YOU MAY NOTICE "ACE CONCRETE" TRUCK HERE-- I AM ASKING THEM TO DO THE CELLAR WITH THE SAME EPOXY ON THE WALLS/FLOOR  OF THE ICU HOUSE.-- WHICH -- WITH THE ADDITION OF A WOOD STOVE WILL MAKE THE CELLAR MUCH MORE SQUARE FOOTEAG OF TRUELY USEABLE SPACE.   - THE CONTENTS OF WHICH ARE BEING STORED IN TEH ICU AND UNDER TARPS IN THE  HORSE TRAILER EXCEPT FOPR MY HIGWHEELER BIKE-- WHICH MAY GET HUNG IN THE ARENA AS JUST ANOTHER RELIC OF DAYS GONE BY-- I RODE THAT THING THE 26 MILES OF THE GREAT RACE- CROSSING THE FINISH LINE 30 SECONDS BEFORE A  WBZ TV HOST WHO HAD SAILED A WATER BED.  

I DID THAT RACE FOR MANY YEARS... IT STARTED AS AN ARGUENMENT BETWEEN 2 GUYS IN A BAR "MADDIES SAIL LOFT"  ?? WAS IT FASTER BY LAND OR BY SEA TO GET FROM WATERTOWN TO MARBLEHEAD.?? .   JUST THE 2 GUYS TO START WITH ....  8 YEARS LATER- THERE WERE MANY THOUSANDS RIDIN AND PADDLING ALL KINDS  OF WIERD MACHINES.. PUSHING HOSPITAL BEDS WITH BOTTLES OF KALLUA   UPSIDE DOWN AS THE  DRIP.... AND THE THOUSANDS ALL WORE SHIRTS THAT WERE SOLD AT THE START-  THERE WAS A PROFIT TO BE MADE ON THE SELLING OF SHIRTS----- TEH IRS WANTED TO KNOW WHO HAD THAT PROFIT....  WOULD YOU BELIEVE?  ... NO ONE DID

HENCE THAT WAS THE END OF WATERTOPWN TO MARBLEHEAD RACE..  DARN SHAME !!

it is a good thing we have a board meeting tomorrow night-- i am not just angry... but fuming.  

and what makes me even madder is there is an element  which says "just go along" 

simply going along with something i see as wrong has never been my style.

and it gets me in alot of trouble.... shoveling shlt against the tide

in an effort to  try and keep my mouth shut....., let me try.. 

 when you donate $10 to SDP,  i have a responsibility --  i know it is for the care, comfort ,

 and training  of service dogs to be donated free of charge-- AND HELPING PEOPLE  HOWEVER.........

now i recognize that there is a certain   xxxxxxx   in having fire extinguishers in place

that does make sense  and there is some legitimate expense there--- 

and we have fire extinguishers at every  door.  what makes me angry is the $3.89 cents'

someone else decided we must have to spend on a red sign explaining

 these red cylindars are fire extinguishers and not hair dryers.

maybe i should let you all vote on some of these kind of  expenses- after all  it is your money.

  but i better wait til saner minds( like the board...... TUESDAY NIGHT.)

i decided to become very annoyed with--CALIFORNIA-- I JUST GOT ANOTYUER EMAIL FROM SOMEONE OUT THERE   PRETTY DESPARATE FOR A DANE SERVICE DOG-- NOT A VETERAN-- NO FAMILY MEMBERS VETERAN-- JUST LOST JOB TO PARKINSONS-  DEPRESSED -- .STILL DRIVING--- STILL VOLUNTEERING-- ALL ELSE PROBABLY GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SDP... SO FAR I HAVE ANSWERED THESE  EMAILS WITH  I CAN'T-----  BUT MAYBE IT IS ME TAKING  THE EASY WAY OUT.

WHY DOES NO ONE "OUT THERE"  ASK FOR HELP IN SETTING UP A GREAT DANE TRAINING FACILITY-- I WILL DO ALL I CAN TO HELP IN ANY WAY ( EXCEPT [PAPERWORK...) 

PLEASE--- ALL YOU CAMERA PEOPLE--- FIND SOMEONE WITH A VERY WELL TRAINED DOG-- AND SUGGEST THAT THEY INVESTIGATE SERVICE DOGS...-THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE "OUT THERE" WHO ARE SUPER TRAINERS- NOT BECAUSE THIER DOG WILL SIT UP AND LOOK CUTE- BUT ARE JUST VERY WELL BEHAVED SENSABLE DOGS.-- THOSE ARE THE TRAINERS WE NEED..

SO THAT IS THE CHALLANGE  FIND WAYS TO GET MORE DANES TRAINED IN CALIFORNIA --- OR ANY STATE IN BETWEEN...

I WANT TO DO A DD ON UNINTENTIONAL TRAINING-- WHICH IS A WONDERFUL TOPIC AND NEW TO ALOT OF  PEOPLE--- and sometimes pretty funny....   HOWEVER.....

todays daiily doggie got waylaid because i have been trying to straighten out teh mess made by having  too many people working on a project unknown to each other...  it's alot of work-- an d i now need to figure out how not to waste  theri efforts.

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT  KATHY ( CP 2012 ) has been trying to collect  teh start of a book under someone else's  direction-- not mine-  i hate to be sticky... but  for any projects involving sdp and all you camera people,  it has to run past me-- or at least linda - who is my external memory device... having anyone else try and manage  some project long distance without my specific  "OK" just makes a mess in the long run.  SDP has one filter before me--- it is linda-- who does an unbelieveable job with impossible details--- and she is right in the next room and can keep me updated. NO one else has my ok to have money or materials sent anywhere else...  every one in the world would love to take over our community -- and access to our email GROUP-- from pepsi to cruise ships--- absolutely no !

so back to the book....

 janice-- who wrote scots "knot today"  has  been working with me  and has a pretty good handle on  book writing-

we still, need any interesting emails  anyone might find- apparently kathy has been collecting some- and has spend some significant time on them ( correcting the spelling) -- but if you find somthing you think is book worthy, send it to me   with "book"  for the subject... AND I WILL DEAL WITH THE KATHY AND JANICE PRODUCTION--- AND ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS BEEN MISLEAD.

i may be getting up there, but i am not ready --- or willing to deligate--- without  considerable discussion  with my group of advisors who are around drinking coffee here nearly daily.  THEY  HAVE DETERMINED IF I HIT 3 THINGS IN ONE DAY WITH MY CAR, I AM TO GIVE UP DRIVING... SO FAR SO GOOD...

 i will think about unintentional training....  here is an email that started me thinking....

Hi Carlene!

Referring to training, I’ve only been involved in inspiring four dogs (male Beagles) to be good citizens & have found the concept of unintentional training to be fascinating.  

Case in point was Andy, who in his playful puppy exuberance found it great fun to hold down honeybees with his nose.  Teddy, the dog before him, was highly allergic to insect stings, so I took more of a proactive stance than possibly was warranted.  Every time Andy nuzzled a bee I ran over to him & said, “No, no, bad bug!”  My approach worked & in time Andy would study the bees a bit & walk away.  

The only problem was that one time while cautioning Andy to leave a bee alone I sneezed.  For the rest of his life (14-1/2 years) he associated sneezing with danger, & whenever someone sneezed he headed for the hills (AKA the door).  If he was inside, he wanted to go outside & vice versa.  Nothing worked to alleviate the problem - trying to stifle a sneeze, announcing one ahead of time with a calm voice & smile, reassuring words after one with a little laugh - there was no remedy.  

The amazing thing about this unintentional training was that there was only one person who could sneeze & not send him into a panic - me.  Who knows what conclusion Andy drew from my unintentional training - perhaps he thought he was okay if I sneezed because he’d never been hurt when I was teaching him about “bad bugs” or perhaps he thought I was continuing to fend off danger & keeping him safe every time I sneezed. 

 THOSE THINGS DO HAPPEN-- AND SOMETIMES IT CAN BE FUNNY I WILL TRY AND COLLECT SOME THOUGHTS

i have nothing interesting or educational to write about today- not that  that ever stopped me before...

may we get back to getting more people addicted to teh cameras????  that would make explore's  charlie happy so he might challange our group to another fundraiser-- that was not only fun and illumionating, but loosed teh pegs on a few projects....  namely  hiring  5 days a week of denis--  great as a bud understudy and someone to fetch and carry--

the place is running pretty smoothly-- i hate to tempt fate,-- but there are a raft of volunteers who fix things and know when the trash should be put out--- or golf carts need plugging in-  or  heaven forbid... someone parks in fropnt of teh dumpster on a monday----things  i no longer pay any attention to.

back to business...DOWN WITH THESE BLACK SCREENS on these smart tv's 

not enough people know about  explore and the cameras.... with no commercials --- sooooooo can we see if we can get  another 25% by june.... -- once people know... they love it. we have some details to work out at our nursing home project- but so far i think we install a $19 firesomethign whichi i bought on ebay

the place  we went to in newbypt... was a "high end home" - we got it going in teh common room-- and i spent time with teh director in his office,introducing him to  explore-- and he had the reactio i was hoping for--- they all should have this in their rooms-

I was watching mail call tonight and heard you mention your problems with insurance companies.  My mom lived with me and my husband for over 25 years.  She had taken a "life" insurance policy through her credit card (an automotive tire store,) years before she ever told me about it.  When she passed away at almost 91 from a heart attack caused by a fall she had taken 6 days earlier, I eventually contacted the insurance company.  They told me she had an accidental death policy.  They had contacted her years earlier and she had been paying into this policy for over 20 years.  To her knowledge, it was a life insurance policy.  I told the insurance person on the line, that it was deemed an accident, which stated this on her death certificate.  They basically said, too bad. (----- ed:  WITH MUCH ARGUING, THEY EVENTUSLLTY )--------They paid half of the amount, 

THERE THEY GO AGAIN  PAYING HALF--- HOW COMMON IS THIS????????

I DO HAVE ANOTHER REG LETTER AT THE POST OFFICE FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY... TO BE CONTINUED....

i am sliding off teh proverbial cliff......thanks to a  CP's son in 

texas i think i have a new computer coming...   jan 15

thanks to an applicant's father who came yseterday and

enlivened teh spreadsheet and letter writing ability of this machine

 ( after i had paid for itl,)

 so i am almost a back to  teh impossoible normal that was ...

and i am gettiong teh sdp records ready for 2020

which reminds me---- here we go...  long  but educational  story...

one of the reasons there is SDP is that  i worked for teh Want Ad magazine

 mostly for 4 cents a copy sold north of teh charles river. 

teh WantAd management had a real accountant who "did" south of the charles river

i hardly ever went to their office in sudbury- but one day tehy "called a meeting between this accountANT, the pres and me.i had computerized my "outfit" only because it was easier- and being lazy.. i did a good job at that.- so i ran off all the records i would need to answer any question the pres would have-- folded the piece of paper in the back pocket  of my blue jeans and drove to sudbury...where i sat waiting  with this accountant who was my counterpart..

he had polished shoes , blue suit and a brief case- my blue jeans had a very small hole( that i had EARNED.. i did not buy that BADGE OF HARD WORK) 

THE ACCOUNTANT PULLED OUT THE IBM PRINTOUT FROM HIS BRIEFCASE 1/2 INCH THICK OF THAT OLD ACCORDIAN TYPE PAPER- IT  WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE  AS I UNFOLDED MY CRINKLED MESS-- IT WAS ONE OF THOSE GOD BLESS GOLDIE MOMENTS... I TOOK ONE LOOK AND SAID THAT HIS REPORT FOR THE SOUTH WAS WRONG--"I DON'T KNOW WHY IT I  S  BUT I CAN PROVE IN 10 SECONDS IT IS WRONG"  PIECE OF CAKE....  THE MAGAZINF WHOLESALE SOLD FOR 86 CENTS AND HIS TOTAL WAS AN ODD NUMBER..

 IMPOSSIBLE !!!!   ( MINE WAS AT LEAST AN EVEN NUMBER...)

WE THEN SHIFTED TO THE FACT THT THERE WAS  A CHAIN OF VARIETY STORES WHO CHARGED THEIR WEEKLY SALES AND HAD COMPLAINED THAT THE WANT AD BILLS WERE ALL SCREWY AND THEY NEEDED TEHN CLEANED UP  QUICK--  THERE WAS $100,000 INVOLVED IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS OF SCREWY LOOKING INVOICES--

AGAIN   GOD BLESS GOLDIE.... THE BILLS WERE SORTED JANUARY OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER. FEB MARCH... ETC..  THIS ACCOUNTABT HAD BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR MONTHS.... I WAS  REALLY CONFIDENT  BECAUSE I HAD MADE THAT MISTAKE SOOOOO OFTEN IN MY PROGRAMMING CAREER...... AND SAID," I THINK I CAN FIX IT AS SOON AS I GET BACK TO MY COMPUTER...."  HIS PROGRAM WAS READING THE DATE  1,10,11,12,2,3,4,5 R-----READING THE NUMBERS LIKE THEY WERE LETTERS LIKE TEH PHONE BOOK SMITH, SMITHSON,SMITHSONIAN , ALL I HAD TO DO WAS CHANGE ONE WORD IN THE PROGRAM  AND THE COMPUTERIZED  BILLS ALL LOOKED NORMAL.IT WAS ABOUTTHEN THAT THE PRES SAID" I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD A  COLLEGE DEGREE" -- WHICH DOESNT SAY ALOT FOR MY EDUCATION.... I HIDE IT WELL....-SO TEH WANT AD TOOK ME ALOT MORE SERIOUS AFTER THAT AND MY INCOME WENT FROM 2 CENTS A COPY TO 4 CENTS - A  HUGE BOOST IN INCOME.... AND I NEVER HAD TO BUY A BUSINESS SUIT..ALL I HAD TO DO WAS KEEP THEIR NUMBRS GOING RIGHT AND THEY LEFT ME ALONE.

HOW DOES THIA AFFECT SDP  2020??? I HAVE TO SET UP  DAILY TRAINING RECORDS TO BE SORTED...

SO IF JAN 1 IS  1.1 AND  JAN 2 IS 1.2    THAT MEANS THA JAN 11,JAN 12,JAN 13 ARE ALL GOING TO BE SORTED BEFORE 1.2 AS 1.11,1.12,1.13 NORMALLY WOULD BE.-

SO JAN 2 HAS TO BE 1.02  AND LIFE WILL SORT CORRECTLY .

THAT PIECE OF INFORMATION MADE ME AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF MONEY.

P.S.  TEH LAUNDRY BUILDING WAS ONCE TEH DEPOSITORY FOR MY WEEKLY SUPPLY OF SOME 16,000 MAGAZINES...-- AND THEN THERE WAS EBAY-- AND I WAS OUT OF A  DARN GOOD JPOB !!

it was with great humor I read today, DD about the bathtub. I also sat at the end with the taps, as when my sister and I were kids, and growing up rather 'not wealthy' my mom gave us baths at the same time. Being the younger child, I had to sit with my back to the taps, and I thought into my adult life that is how it's supposed to be. After I got married, I decided to take a long hot bath one night, and my husband came into the bathroom and saw me sitting that way. He asked why, and I told him that was the way it always was, and I didn't think about why I was there. He got a good laugh and asked me how I could relax in the tub as I couldn't put my back against anything to relax. I had no answer, and that was the last bath I took. That was 48 years ago !

Thank you for that funny memory, it started my day off with a laugh !

IN WHICH END OF TH BATHTUB DO YOU SIT?   the question is just for statistical purposes- however.....the history of the question  is the difference in education i recieved  in Scotland  vs college in maine.  Gwen, Elizabeth and ii lived in Mrs Turners boarding house for 7 young ladies who were going to "the Edinburgh  university"..  . Now because we were allowed one TUB bath night a week, we were inclined to pull teh shower curtain and laze about while others used whatever else they had to use.---- early in teh year, i was horrified to  observe that elizabeth, my official roommate, sat in the end with the  drain. !  this to me was a whole new concept- a bit of a shock...- being in a "foreign country" and not wanting to offend anyone, i quietly asked Gwen who said . " i sit with the taps at my feet... why?"  i explained that elizabeth sat the other way around- which looked strange to me.  Out of total respect for elizabeth and her intelectual capacity--- and in the interest of investigating something we did not  understand, we  talked it over and over... and over   .  Gwen and i completely accepted her  way of thinking... it was deeper,---- she could rest her head on the taps, --- and she like it. altho gwen and i were in the plurality -  we felt no compulsion   to change her way of thinking.... or even worse to  bully her into sitting at the other end  which we defined as "our" end. i am pretty sure she was quite  intellectually secure   being the one ... against  two, since cleanliness was the issue in the first place.  we continued that discussion for  the entire year... as teh "which end of teh tub"  was humouously   lined up with  many things....religion, politics, and bullying in general. ** then i came back to colby for my senior year  where teh approach to any diffrence--- intelectual or otherwise---.was to be critical. you joined one group and were critical of any other-  there was no intellectual exercise  in  investigating the number of angels on the head of a pin. ( remember -- as a senior  i was still consumed with trying to spell those 500 words correctly -- on which my graduation depended... i think my parents boutgh  me a deploma--as it wouldr seem now.) to continue with the end of tub discussion---in   teh  broadway show "at the drop of a hat"   there is some discussion about  who sits at what end of a tub...  so i wonder-- is there such a statistical group???? p.s.    i did get a letter from elizabeth about 20 years ago saying she has tried "teh other end"   and  teh sceneery is diffeerent  - she did not say if she  has continued there..  ****************** "you know more and more I love SDP (my addiction) -- one thing that I have noticed lately is that no matter who the dog is - every volunteer and staff stops what they are doing and pet said animal - I see it all of the time - dog walks up and hands go down to the dog even it they are not working with that dog. For instance I saw Olivia in the hall way of the kennels, dog walks by and hand goes right to the petting.
