Well done to everyone with dogfest we made it through ------the highlight of the whole day I think was Judy interviewing the recipients ---it was hysterical talking so sincerely while the turkeys are gobbling around the donkeys are falling through the fence .. Judy kept her focus on three things at once and it was very enjoyable we had many comments about a good job she did .. we had many comments I want a great job everybody did---- all the way through to the end with pam's dance in the parking lot .. the puppy run is going to behave better for some reason they ran underneath the camera a lot of the time and weren't as visible as they have been in the past running around the grassy area ... I have a feeling it was the shade that they were looking for ..so next time we do this-- a year from now-- you have to calculate where the shade is it was too late to set up an awning ... spirit sticks went well ----- i only know for next year is for the fatter Home Depot paint stirrers we need to make the channel one saw blade width +3 poo pickers wide. Mark's food was wonderful he's had a lot of experience with hamburgers out of Costco and then the desserts began to arrive along with one of those edibles eating things ... we did not starve . Bud found the iron fire pit for the burning of this spirit sticks ... this cement mixer was a lovely addition as it churned up 2300 usual shaddap on numbers plus another 1000 between the Wayne Gretzky shirt and Bobby Orr books and that beautiful quilt ..that meant I cut up over 3000 little rectangles but it certainly was well worth it . Sandy was given the chore of reaching into the cement mixer with what someone said was a hemostat ... an elongated hemostat which apparently was used in my husband's medical practice doing things like d and c’s ---at least that's what the nurses here told me . she picked out one little piece of paper at a time till we had one pink one blue one purple maybe a green ..etc. the possibilities of that cement mixer are endless ..... the netting across the entrance that was made of agricultural netting which one buys to keep the birds off the Apple trees or whatever ... A good time was had by all ... I came home too many emails thanking all of us for putting it together ... and it certainly takes a lot of planning and finally brute strength . Carrol's thank you was typical ... MANY MANY THANKS TO YOU, YOUR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS FOR HOSTING A VERY ENJOYABLE DOG FEST (MY FIRST). I KNOW IT TOOK A LOT OF PLANNING AND WORK, AND IT SHOWED! I ENJOYED THE PUPPIES PLAYING AROUND, THE SPIRIT FLAGS, BUT MOST OF ALL, THE RECIPIENT INTERVIEWS. EACH RECIPIENT TOUCHED MY HEART WITH WHAT SHE OR HE SAID ABOUT HOW THEIR SERVICE DOG CHANGED THEIR LIFE. THE DOGS THEMSELVES WERE, NO SURPRISE, INCREDIBLY WELL-BEHAVED AND SHOWED HOW THEY PROVIDED MOBILITY ASSISTANCE TO THEIR OWNERS. JUDY DIDN'T MISS A BIT AND STAYED FOCUSED DESPITE A POSSESSIVE TURKEY, BRAYING DONKEYS, A DONKEY CRASHING THE FENCE, AND PROBABLY MORE I DIDN'T SEE OR HEAR! YOU HAVE MUCH TO BE PROUD OF AND I HOPE I CAN BE PRESENT IN PERSON SOME YEAR. IN THE MEAN TIME, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING MY DAY AFTER BEING DEVESTATED BY THE DEATH OF RUTH BADER GINSBURG, MY HERO. carol. The calendars have landed in the cellar ... what and leftover envelopes have even been located .. Donna tells me that this is her favorite calendar done by mark because it's actual farm photographs without artistic staging .... personally I like the humor of some of the other calendars . .. But then again I enjoy almost any kind of humor . wherever you can find it . as yesterday morning I announced that I would go to the shop and look for 3 inch screws which we needed for something .. and someone said go to the shop and look for 2 inch screws because then you'll find the three inch .. that was my major chuckle of the day , -- My immediate problem of today is to go get some Turkey crumbles becausw these Guinea hands don't seem to be eating Turkey pellets and sure enough somewhere on the Internet it said Guinea hens don't like pelleted food .. they will eat crack corn .. which I have been giving them for the last 48 hours so that's the best FYI lesson I can give for the day i put up a n abreviated 1000 brick shatting board... just to get us thru to the proper start of a usual 2100 brick month... --- now i will go watch the replays of judy's interviews.... good watching on we go .. |
