DEC 5 2017

one of my hugest problems is expecting things to work... yesterday it started with the post office...-- again i had 7 boxes of claendars-- having been that road on saturday WITH 5, i knew they were about 1/2 hour per box... for this zip code /street address process.  so i went prepared..  2 dogs.. 2 wonderful saddle blankets someone sent las week for thier beds... my transfer chair to use l to transport boxes.. then a chair for me...  and they gave me my own attendent.. while 2 other Attendants  waited on the ever growing line...

then....... they invited me to move to the back room where they had another scale thing... so i gathered up my belongings ,2 dogs and went "out back"---- well that printer quit immediately... so i gathered up my belongings a, 2 dogs and transfer chair and went back to th efront... and we were only on the 2nd box.... we got thru the 2nd box and the supervisor said they got the other machine working.. so i gathered up my belongings, 2 dogs and chair and went out back... where they got thru the rest of teh 7 cartons-- by now we are all old friends...-- i gave them sdp credit card and anticipated the 8 foot long printout when  i heard someone say " rejected input.... and it started...-- the superintendednt said he coudl "run to another post office and get another black box thing....whatever....it would only take a few minutes..like 15..  he was still holdng our card because the bill was over$400 and if i took off without this machine processing it, he would be liable for the $400... so he had the e card... he got back and they rebooted and still got rejected input-- and it wouoldnt spit out the 8'long tape and record the purchase. so they called..... tech support... 8 minutes... not bad...-- with difficulty they got it "going"  swipped the card and all i had to do to complete the transactio is scribble my name on the lttle box...-- welllll... the cord attched to the black box which usually kept the special isgning stylus attached... was empty--the various 4 people now standing around looked all over .... emptied thier pockets and we tried over a dozen pen like things  and they did not let me scribble the CW mark that meant i could go home.--  they couldnt take them off the front desk because they were eoectronically attached to the  desks out there and cord cutting was not allowed...-- so i gathered up my belondgings . 2 ddogs and chair and went out to th e lobby to await the missing stylus...
it was nt long before the  woman who had been dealing with me for hours,  came and gave me on  8' long tape and said " go home... if they ever get it working i will sign it."

i had no problem with all that... i was prepared, the 2 dogs.. bentey and sizzle slept thur the whole thing...    but.....  places of business shouljd never leave me  in view of their inner workings with nothing to do... because i amuse myself with watching.....   the place was clean... no dust on the floor ot bits of paper or anythng else... however... you know all those little polished brass  slots you poke letters thru-- well ALL of them  direct  everything into a miserably worn out laundry basket- i could not begn to estimate the age of the  thing.  1929 maybe??? then the passport window--being christmas the super had pulled in extra help  and teh extra guy did not have the uspo  uniform-- he had the random  look of a teenage great dane... all  he knew was that one form and what was needed for the passport-- namely a picture- which one group did not have...  but he was game  to help....so he hung a piece of wrapping paper in ht lobby and got down on his knees to photograph a couple and their 2 kids with --his own? -camera-- that poor superviserr-- nice guy... working hard... smiling at impossible questions-- also had to deal with a truck that would not start-- and it had to get somewhere to keep the chain of delivery on schedule...  i told him i had a jumper battery in my car... but he called a truck fixer.. and they got it going...
the other thing that amazed me was the connection to fedex.... i never understood- but it looked possible that when you send something overnight.. or whatever... they just give it to fedex...  i coudl see no reasson to have a bin for fedex behind the sceenes in the p.o....

a tiring day-- so i hopped in the  shower and soaped up... only to have the water pressure go to a  .03 drip...-- so my day ended with trying to get the soap off me with bottled water out of the overflow room... which is unheated....

IT WAS A GOOD START TO THE WEEK FOR THESE 2. BELLA IS COUNTING DOWN HER DAYS LEFT AT SCHOOL BEFORE HER SURGERY. ONLY 9 MORE SCHOOL DAYS. 2 WEEKS FROM TODAY SHE WILL HAVE A HALO ON AND BE STARTING HER 3 WEEKS OF TRACTION. I THINK SHE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING IN. SHE SAYS HER BACK, SHOULDER AND NEXT HURT HER A LOT AND HER KNEE. SO I THINK SHE IS HOPING THAT ONCE SHE IS IN AND HEALED EVERYTHING WILL START TO FEEL BETTER. SHE KNOWS THE PROCESS THAT IT WILL BE UNCOMFORTABLE FOR A WHILE BUT THEN SHE WILL FEEL BETTER ONCE SHE’S HEALED. WE DID HEAR POSSIBLE 1-3 INCHES OF SNOW THIS WEEKEND. THAT WILL JUST MAKE BELLA’S LAST 2 WEEKS PERFECT IF SHE GETS SOME SNOW. EVEN THOUGH I WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE SNOW! BUT OTHERWISE WE ARE TAKING IT ONE DAY AT A TIME. THANK YOU FOR CHECKING IN. MUCH LOVE BELLA AND GEORGE
