in the meantime... janine is out of the hospital and home..
not supposed to move much... janine when told not to move much is not a happy camper..
so she wrote a facebook "educational " thing on how to deal with nurses...
FROM JANINE YESTERDAY
Still in the hospital. But minus my appendix now and on solid foods -
well what these people call solid. After not eating for 48 hours I was
super exited to hear "solid food" but they mean jello and clear broth
. WTF...... I woke up from surgery expecting a hot fudge Sunday
and the nurse brings me GREEN jello.
That was when I learned not to piss off the nurse by asking to go to another floor
and steal red or orange jello. She was kinda fed up already after I begged for an ice cube
for 5 hours straight before the surgery although hard to even beg effectively
when your tongue is so dry it cements itself to the roof of my mouth.
Just so you know when you piss off your nurse, all you will ever get is green jello.
She will make sure every other patient gets the good jello and feed you last.
In addition, she controls everything - she walks me to the bathroom and holds the door
while I Pee. Since the jello incident, she doesn't close the door "in case I fall" - my bladder
is a bit shy and can't operate under these conditions.
Finally, the other critical piece the nurse controls is the back of this lovey night gown thing.
You need it untied while you are in bed, or you will sleep uncomfortably on the knot.
She is the one that ties it when you get up - or not.
My angry nurse doesn't tie it anymore so I have had a few awkward moments mooning people
in the hospital. Thankfully her double shift is over and the new nurse closed the door and
tied it up nicely.
My big hope is orange jello today.
