and we got the fountains in the pond-- actually we got me in the pond too-  there is zero footing next to the pond--  actually the mud is about 18" deep-- and i had megan's help getting me into and out of--  she pulled a rope when i least expected it and there was no footing-- so i pitched myself trying to land on my back  in the water part-that did not work- and i landed in the mud- luckily megan stopped laughing in time to pull me out-- after i nearly pulled her in.

but the fountains are in... and working.  LOOKIN GOOD.

ALONG THE LINES OF "IT IS ALWAYS SOMETHING"---- VALERIE  IS WORKING HER WAY THRU ARROW'S AVERSION TO HUGE GROUPS OF CHATTY WOMEN

I wanted to give you an update on Arrow's progress with his aversion to loud noise.  On Wednesday we attended a fundraising luncheon for the MS Society here in Charlottesville.  It was my job to introduce the guest speakers.  I had lots of notice so several times  a couple of weeks before Arrow and I practiced getting on the stage, putting him in a down for a few minutes, and getting off the stage.  The only thing I couldn't duplicate was the noise level.  On the day of the event he refused to enter the room where 200 women were chattering in their high pitched voices.  I tried to get there early but as a chair person for the event I had to be elsewhere as the room was filling up.  When a 165 pound Great Dane lies down 10 feet from a door, there's no way to force the issue!  I decided to take him around to a side door and that's when I remembered to put the cotton balls in  his ears.  I should have done it the first time.  I waited outside a few minutes for the  noise to die down a bit, and two friends came out to chat.  They were good friends of Arrow's too, and all of us entered the room together without any hesitation from Arrow.  He got to his blanket with no problem and was perfect for the next two hours.  He did beautifully on the stage while I gave my remarks.  In my comments I mentioned that I too had been asked to be the keynote speaker for several events in the past.  I told them that I had noticed that when people asked me if I was willing to speak and I said yes, they said, "And can you bring the dog too?"  That got a good laugh.

Take care,

Valerie

SO  ---  VALERIE--- I COULDN'T TELL FROM YOUR SENTANCE IF YOU USED THE COTTON BALLS IN HIS EARS??? AND IF SO ---DO YOU THINK THEY HELPED--- OR WAS IT YOUR FRIENDS.????

IF IT WORKED --- I AM GOING OUT TO BUY SOME STOCK IN THE COTTON BALL MAKING COMPANIES.
