 FEB 14 2023

it may have been a goal of  Charlies to start explore.org and never stop learning,,, welll it is.... one of....my goals to solve the problem of the stupid "smart tv's"
most of you may already know.... but judy and i had been to 133 day care and assisted living places before covid-- welL  we are at it again WITH THE SAME #$%^&*()_ RESULTS-- BLACK TV'S

NURSING AND HOUSEHOLD STAFF ARE TOO BUSY TO EVEN START TO CONTEMPLATE ": THE TV  REMOTE"
IN  133 PLACES WE WENT TO ,  WE DOCUMENTED 131 HAD LOST THE REMOTE -- LEAVING THEIR SMART TV'S TOTALLY BLACK
IT IS A SIMPLE ERROR-- A STAFF MEMBER PICKS UP THE REMOTE TO TRY AND GET SOMETHING FOR A CLEINT TO WATCH-- AND BEFORE SHE LOCATES WHICH OF 19 BUTTONS TURNS THE THING ON, SOMEONE HAS DROPPED A PLATE OF FOOD ON THE FLOOR-- EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER EATING IT.... AND SHE RECOGNIZED THE PRIORITY. AND  RUNS BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE SLIDES IN THE MESS..
SO SHE SETS THE REMOTE DOWN ON THE NEAREST TABLE--- NOT NECESSARILY THE ONE NEAREST THE TV...NOW...THE PERSON IN CHARGE OF DUSTING AND VACUMMING COMES ALONG AND MENTALLY SAYS...  "I KNOW WHERE THAT REMOTE GOES... THERE IS A BOX OF  ONES JUST LIKE THAT IN THE CLOSET. SO SHE PUTS IT THERE..."  WELLLLLL   THERE YOU HAVE IT... A SELF PERPETUATING PROBLEM THE PREVENTS CLIENTS FROM ENJOYING THE SMART TV -- EVEN LETTING  THE TV RUN ON TEH CORALLE REEF'S  BRIGHTLY COLORED FISH WOULD BE A HUGE ASSET..... IF ONLY EACH NURSING HOME HAD AN "IT" DEPARTMENT.??????? HECK THEY CAN'T FIND ENOUGH NURSING HELP[ ... LET ALONE SOMEONE TO KNOW  ON FROM OFF IN CURRENT IT LANGUAGE...

JUDY AND I HAVE A WEEKLY GOAL OF 100 PEOPLE PATTING AND ENJOYING MY 3 DOGS ( AND WANDA WHEN AVAILABLE) YESTERDAY .. WITHOUT  ANY REALL EFFORT WE STARTRED IN PEABODY ADULT CARE-- WITH 25 PEOPLE AND THE R FRY PAN EPISODE-- WQNDA FOUND A LAP TO SIT IN THE WHOLE TIME THERE..-- THEN JUDY FOUND A HALLWAY WHICH ENDED UN A HUGE ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE WHO DID NOT EXPECT... BUT WERE THRILLED TO MEET THE 3 DOGS
I HAVE TO ADMIT.... MY PERFECT DOGS.... NEED A LITTLE SHAPPING UP-- AS I WALKED THRU THE  ROOM WITH 3 FOLLOWING, I SAT DOWN AND TOLD THEM TO LIE DOWN... AND I HAD ONLY 2-- JIMINEY HAD LEFT ME AND GONE TO FIND JUDY AND WANDA-- WHO GOT SIDETRACKED IN THE HALL...

SO THAT WAS 25 AND 48--- ON THE WAY HOME WE SAW AND STOPPED TO INVESTIGATE  ANOTHER ADULT CARE. ( NAMELESS FOR TEH MOMENT) BECAUSE THE STAFF WAS SO THRILLED THEY ALL CAME OUT TO THE CAR STANDING AROUND TALKING FOR QUITE A WHILE BEFORE ONE OF THEM SAID...." WITH ALL OF US PATTING THE DOGS, NO ONE WAS LEFT INSIDE WITH ALL. THE PATIENTS..."

JUDY PUT IT ON OUR PEABODY LIST--- AND WE WERE 82 FOR THE FIRST DAY OF THIS WEEK...
THESE PLACES ARE STARVED FOR THIS KIND OF THING-- WE ARE LIKE THE VALEDICTORIAN IN A CLASS OF ONE. IF THERE IS ANY COMPETITION-- I AIN'T SEEN NONE YET....-- I PROVIDED ANIMALS FOR MOVIES--- I WAS GOOD--- I WAS ALSO THE ONLY ONE IN NEW ENGLAND... MY BIGGEST VIRTUE WAS--- I WAS ALWAYS ONTIME.

I LOVE THIS MARBLE MACHINE..
A MUSICAL GOOGLEABLE MOVIE

 feb 13 2023

we were to get 4? more animals last night from the auction...  the 2 she bid on and 2 work mules she had stored somewhere-- with the work mules needing some TLC. i think..
there is one hellion of a tiny mule at meridith-- not much bigger than lachy-- charged the fence and ran up and down ---- ears flat back...  those sheep with him are totally safe from wolves or coyotes-- he is one terror.-- this is one thing donkeys are famous for-- guarding livestock. my stud donkey killed a samoyed one day that was bugging his family-- it is done with their teeth.. not kicking.... altho they use their front legs to confuse the issue, it is their teeth one grab and a shake and it was dead.

ok.. so today starts another week of trying to visit 100. people  per week...with the 3 dogs...  the place we are due to go to  is  Peabody adul care... and there is the  ex bullfighter there...  got to figure out a way to take advantage of that .. i mean how many bullfighters does one come  across in ones lifetime???

wallace is more than that.... he got janine/olaf's horse to load on the trailer with no fuss at all..janine is a pretty good loader upper... and olaf had a person who is a trainer in the area... he has been dealing for months with the problem of loading...  wallace took 2 trys an all of qa sudden the hore loads...  so i had to hear how/why... turns out... turning is wallace's secret..i have seen him do this when bucking was a possibility.......he turns the horse sharply in a small circle-- which. they do not like  -- then straightens them out and they walk right on....

that is a new one for me--- no whips or rakes or brooms--- just circle and bingo...  there is a trick to every trade???
*****
jonathan jensen spoofed the spoofer randy rainbow---it is a pretty good one too...

you know you are old when... you don't understand the ads in the superbowl...

i have received many accolades in my life ----one diploma looking thing declares me to have been nominated as an outstanding  home maker--i have another where i "graduated" from a hypnosis  course---i took at a medical meeting i went to with my husband-- it was an hour long and looked just like all the rest of the diplomas on his wall...  made me worry... just a bit. and then ann and i got diplomas  which would enable us to be hired as ambulance drivers----  whoa !!
my son in law,  Ron, said " a piece of paper will hold still. and you can write anything on it."

older daughter--- Gwen has passed on a suggested reading--- i have not read it  enough to know  which mushroom the writer is sitting on...  but i did read the "credits"  at the bottom-- and whatever she said, it is well documented-- and by all appearances it looks to me  like she can spell. --- Heather Cox Richardson--

"well documented" in this internet world is enough to make me at least sit up and take notice-- and maybe pay a bit more  attention- so yes.... i do have more investigating... but what floored me is the pure volume-- she puts out one of these things a day !!-

so do i..... but her's are so well thought out where mine are purely the drifting of a half awake bleery eyed ancient, with reading glasses that do not read and hearing aids that do not hear.

*****

to buy or not to buy-- that was the question.last night when i sat with janine, elizabeth and a  huge plate of nachos to watch the horse auction at 4:30pm.

i had watched the preview at 1:00 and made a list of 4 interesting beasts ...purely  on the visual-- not being able to hear the description...---- ....a horse would appear in the auction ring--- janine and eliz would  decide what the beast would sell for-- with amazing accuracy and then decide if they  ERN  had enough money-- or people interested in such an animal-- janine poked at her cell phone and announced that she did actually purchase one of the ones l  liked... an andalusian..  which is sort of a  smaller draft horse..... known for it's work ethic????

what fascinated me   was  the absolutely  beautiful high stepping   17 hand ( tall)  jet black dutch harness horse--- with papers... went for $4000. which i thought was cheap for it.... and janine should buy- but her comment -- "pretty  but no one but wallace could ride that horse" and elizabeth added " besides...he would eat a bale a day himself..."

ok......

the super high priced -- over $10,000  were the smaller to average height. 15.2 hand.. solid.. leg in each corner.----. very obediently exhibited  by some 8 year old kid.. in other words... at least in the horse world   "handsome is as handsome does" ...

which is sort of the shape  of danes we hopefully breed for use as service dogs. a leg in each corner..... lachey !!!

do I dare.??? ...... cross your fingers..... Sir Richard and Cici ( aka Capri)  managed a 26 minute  serious date( tied)  on Wednesday...  with no second tie  as of last night.... all this may mean that last week’s drips were the end of the red--- and  Tuesday Wednesday would then be the fertile.  Rumor has it..... and you all know how accurate rumors are—that toward the end of the cycle  the female is most fertile--  most certain to “take”  with a larger litter...

so mark your calendars. 63 days from  last Wednesday.  Which means 56  to 70 days... and we might get an educated guess by day 25 to 30—Dr. george’s fancy fingers—

if she could just give us another litter like her last—there were some super pups there.

pieces of string too short to use--

has been a standing joke about little old ladies saving things in the attic. well my collection is not in the attic but in a bucket right in my project room and I use the collection to teach people how to splice the end of a rope so it stops unraveling... I also carry some in my tote bag so sometimes sitting in a waiting room with nothing to do and no one to talk to except for the people sitting next to me who don't talk to anybody either I can pull that stuff out and provide

If they are willing, an educational few minutes which  would otherwise be a waste of time..  I'm sort of the Johnny appleseed  of both splicing and monkey fist making... Seeing as I often have one Great Dane lying at my feet... to break the ice.. it's an interesting project... actually one of our recipients just tried to book a special splice learning session to learn to do the the cotton leashes that everybody uses.. that of course could be done in the front seat of my car which is another place I give lectures... Sort of a ” let's wipe out all loose ends “project. I couldn't think of another hey to use up all these short pieces of perfectly good cotton rope.. every monkey fist that I make that's about two or three inches in diameter produces about a 2 foot long wasted piece ..

As for resisting learning.....

Interestingly there's an awful lot of people who do not know how to splice a rope---and there's an awful lot of people who don't want to learn how to splice a rope either--and I don't argue with them although I certainly would want to say ...”you're sitting there doing nothing why don't you increase your abilities?”  and but I don't say that but I certainly think it while feeling very aloof.... and forgetting  that

Certainly I would say the same thing and have said the same thing when anyone tries to explain to me how my computer or my cell phone is supposed to work..

thinking back,   I remember my lovely IBM computer ----when I turned it on the screen was absolutely black-- I loaded a program I had written and proceeded to get a lot of work done for the want ad magazine..  And this is the critical part it never screwed up... once I had a program working which was often you turned it on loaded it ran it and it ran----- and I loved it.. now I turned on my machine and it says   in blues and yellows....Are you sure you are who you think you are and if you're not then push this button so I can e-mail your cell phone and ask you to prove it—

In  the meantime here is an advertisement for shoe laces---- which will not get off your screen until you order 6 pair.... monthly,

I kept the daily back up on  a system or rotating disks which were about 8 inches in diameter—with a weekly set in the guest house in case of a fire.

Now it is all stored in “ the cloud”

What else is in the cloud????  Balloons and things... what would happen if--- that  balloon decided to wipe out the cloud of information stored there--- we might never get any electricity again... ever...

my Bone density test report says.  --

This generally means that your bone density is 10–25% lower than the bone density of an average, healthy 30-year-old adult.

ok machine-- at 85--- i am considrably more than 25% older than a healthy 30 year old.

so much for statistics

 *******

incidental intelligence for the day

that. EARTHQUAKE AREA IS SIZE OF NEBRASKA

**

SOMEONE IS WAITING FOR PERMISSION FROM THE INTERNATIONAL XXXXXX BUREAU TO RELEASE LIFE SAVING PROVISIONS FOR EARTHQUAKE AREA..

boy am i glad someone gave you the power to make such a wise decision .

.maybe your xxxxx bureau could guarantee to get the stuff there by june 10th???

****

let there be no mistake--- i am the guy on my knees putting the jars of peanut butter on the store shelves so. you can find it.

some equally underpaid soul put the peanut in the ground which then provided jobs for millions of people from plowing the ground to plowing the snow to making the lids for the jars which i am putting on the shelves-- minus any one of those and you would not have a nice sterile lid on th e peanut jar on the shelf-- just think of the complications if the jar lids came from china--- ( as in the computer chips stopping automotive producton and golf ball manufacturing a few months ago) now if i am unhappy about the shape of the jar lids.... it will not do any good for me to complain.... there are just too may interwoven parts to jar lid manufacturing-- it was easier when you went to the general store and got a 1 pound lump of peanut butter on a piece of waxed paper.

Do they even make waxed paper anymore? -- plastic is so much easier.. and easier is better.... better is right-er.  no?

so it is supposed to rain showers today- who gives a #$%^& ?welllll......... Elizabeth tells me they have enough hay til Saturday—here we go again... decisions decisions--- that big green cloud of radar over new york is supposed to rain in Ipswich mid afternoon--- apply that to the fact that last summer it didn’t rain enough to make hay plentiful—so if the Canadian  hay depot gets truck loads on Monday or Tuesday... will they still have enough for me on a Friday—or should I go and get it today and hopefully deliver it to merideith before the green rain cloud gets over topsfield.. and if I did that  is there someone ?elizabeth?? Janine??? Karen///anyone. There to it get it in the barn before it gets rained on.because we all know you are not supposed to rain on hay. It gets moldy and will create it’s own heat...

Welllllllll...... experience comes from bad experience----- wet hay can get hot enough to burn down barns--- except right now winter- and this load would have a "shelf life" of 6 days......—they feed it out sooooo fast it would never—certainly in winter—have time to heat up, they use about 8 bales a day for mo, plus.  3 other mules , a horse or two,3 goats, some sheep 2 llamas.

Now add the real kicker...... to run out and buy local is worse hay and more expensive..... I save $5 per bale if I go get it – and it is better hay.

Which boils down to-----ok ERN crowd--- it is $10 a bale. just in case you could buy a bale for ERN

 and-----

Would someone hook the trailer up to my car for me?—all I can to do is drive forward and backward..

.MMMAARRRKKKKKKKKKK??????

my rant of the day?

i could think of so many ways to solve problems  the efficient way..

*** like those guys robbing dallas zoo...... let it be known you would give them. $ 85,000 for a 10 foot allagator-and the problem would be self eliminating.

***wanna blow up baltimore to set up  a " more perfect social setting"   ?  let me donate1400  steel shovels and give you and your friends a ride to the middle of a huge desert and you can start by digging for water... and/or  kill each other with the shovels.

*** the ukraine is a stupid place to have a war.....it is a fertile food growing place-- so why screw that up--- go fight somewhere else.

escalating??? there is no more. ES to CALATE

mommy will get you back to reality---

***lets face it ... there are too many people, and mommy earth is bullshlt.....7.8 degrees bullshhlt----- and we may not have seen her full response yet.

so.....here we now have the marvels of 2023 technology being challanged by the  technology of  the 1700's--- balloons

now my panic of the day

what color are the rugs/flooring of cici's family in peabody? what difference does that make????? let me count the ways..

it was reported  that cici dripped a few red drips 4-5 days ago and  it stopped... a drip is about 1/4 inch diameter....

the usual heat cycle is ... on the female's agenda...

day  1  one drop  bright red

day  2 thru 7 one red drip every 18 inches on the floor. neither she nor he is very interested in much of anything.

day  8 -12 the red turns to "a brown ish" color during which she is happy to talk to  a  man type dogand is fertile.... and he knows it. !

day  13 she will kill the sob who even consideers jumping on her rear end- she will change her mind in a specific 20 minutes...

day 14 go cool it for another 6 months.

try the math...5 days ago it was feb 2.... now if that was day 1 ---finding no further drips would be very unusual... so i have to assume it was not day 1

but perhaps it was actually day 7 when the red turned brown and is not easily seen in any. household---( even if a male dog could smell it for miles.)

if that was day 7.and that was 4 days ago, we are up to day 11 which is too. close to the finish line for my likeing....

to hell with the color of the carpets which could explain alot of this.....  we need to get the experts -------the male dog's concept -and the  female's opinion immediately ....if not sooner...

like this morning.  because there is some point where cici will tell us to go fly a kite--- forget all the microscopes and slides-- we do not have time--and  all that is pure nonsense because regaredless of what a microscope says the dogs opinion is the only true opinion that matters. I have seen  too much time wasted on running around with toilet paper ,microscopes and slides.

Just get me the dogs....

 post haste
