merlow is better --- slightly---

last night she really didn't feel good---   we did a boob check and she had one huge/hot  -- temp 104.6

 not a good thing-  may still not be a good thing. even tho the lump is much more defined this  morning after last night's amoxicillin-

i had closed their pen- because i had not cleaned up the stool yet - and neither had merlow--( and her water buckets were not red  in case that is related....)-- after they finished one entire coffee pot of food-- apparent ly  pi was thirsty  and clearly was trying to get at th e puppy water dishes in the pen--- i filled a new one and PUT IT OUTSIDE THE PEN   and  she drank----

 i was worried that they did not know about "thirsty"  apparently that threshold has been crossed.

 

 then the problem was she wanted to get back in to take a nap--- and that became quite clear- i opened the "gate' and she ran in to the fluffy and collapsed.

tom's car needed oil -- and the bmw is not just an "add more in the top" that i am used to..   it was--- per the local bmw $ 729.00  to change the oil--(keep in mind janine would not take the bmw as a gift----  the $1200.00 battery change cured her)

but tom wanted the peabody bmw place to change it  ( tom likes the guy who runs it...--- they give him coffee and wash the car...)  knowing all i know about the cost of mAINTAINING A BMW--- I MADE A SPECIAL TRIP DOWN TO CHECK THAT TOM HAD THEM AGREEING TO THE 729--- BUT I WAS AFRAID THEY WOULD CHANGE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FOR ANOTHER $900---.

 

WHEN WE WENT TO PICK THE CAR UP SURE ENOUGH THE BILL WAS $729  WHICH HAD BEEN REDUCED FROM THE $1158  THEY WOULD HAVE CHARGED.--

 

WHICH WAS IMPRESSIVE ENOUGH--- BUT ALSO THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR JAMS HAD BEEN CLEANED AND POLISHED.

 

DAVID TRIED TO FIGURE OUT ALL THE BUTTONS.  WHILE TOM HELPED WITH " WIGGLE THAT LEVER AND THE DASHBOARD CHANGES   D MEANS FORWARD... R BACKWARDS".

Dear Carlene, thought it was time for a little update. I am still here in Denmark taking care of my mother. Today was 2 weeks since her surgery and she is healing nicely, so that is the good news. Mentally she is still confused, although maybe a little less now, and I am seeing an energy and initiative that wasn't there before. I am planning on returning within the next week or so.

I have to tell you how much joy I get from reading your puppy musings every day, I often find myself sitting here chuckling at your descriptions of the gang of 5 and all their (especially nightly) antics. I sent Mark's new gorgeous photos to several friends here who could not believe how cute they all are with their bright blue eyes. Can't wait to see them and NOT pat their heads. Seems like things are good and you even get to sleep through the night occasionally!!! Anne

I had something similar happen.  It turned out to be the dog's gums.  Something had wedged itself between teeth and rubbed on the gum.  I didn't see anything.  It took a magnifying glass to find it and some very small tweezers to get it out.  The dog had red in her bowl for two days or so before I found the culprit.  I watched while she drank water.  She bumped her jaw on the water bowl sightly and it bled, just a little.  Just a suggestion

 

PLUS CALL GEORGE FOR THE RESULTS OF MERLOW'S  BLOODWORK-

FUNNY THEY CHOSE THE "UNSTUFFED" STUFFED FUZZY TOY TO ARGUE OVER.

 

THEY ARE COURAGEOUS-- AND BECAUSE OF THE FLOOR DO NOT HAVE TO BE FRUSTRATED BY A FENCE-  WHEN THEY GET TIRED THEY NATURALLY GRAVATATE TO THE FUZZY MAT NEAR THE HEATER  FOR SLEEPING.

I am off work today to go to the RMV because someone stole my plates off my car, so as soon as I have done that, they open at 8:30am I can work on getting up there with the Sterling. BAD NEWS-- EARLY SANDY HAD A NASTY COOKING  ACCIDENT

 

 Hello Carlene:

                           Well we finally got home on Thursday  morning and decided to make artichokes for a surprise for my dad  for super that night, they were in the oven cooking for over 1 hr went to take them out of the oven and I had baked them in a aluminum pan  the pan snapped and next thing I knew I was burning  I took my clothes off and tried to stop the burning but nothing worked, the baby was in his seat up staire's so I ran up and called my daughter to come home right away and then called 911 off to the hospital I went I have second and third degree burns on my foot so I am wrapped up I can not walk because it is burnt on the bottom and side of my foot and have a big blister . It looks like I will not be there the Sunday because I can not drive . I will NEVER use those pans again the firemen really did a great job the hospital said they saved my foot for me .  I should have stayed in North carolina with the Tornado's . The pups are getting so big I can not wait to see them . early sunday sandy

pups had a grand day out in the "V" pen next to the t-tent..... and we had a grand bunch of new/stewers. 

 

from extremely weird philo dough appetizers megan produced   to costco ham ,veggies, a salad sort of thing and cocconut cake--- for the first time ever--- we had a balanced meal---( unlike the day we ate 5 chocolate cakes)--

 pot luck-- you takes your chances

 

we did not try and harness the black and white stud-- there were sooo many cars around that if he got to running he could have caused a  tornado type disaster- frightened horses have been known to try and climb over cars

 

it is very hard on the cars...

we had no dog fights--

 only a concern that i dreamed paul's truck ran into the pond-  but it didn't seem to happen...  at least yet.

 

only dog concern today is  merlow's red drinking water--- merlow must have a cut in her mouth that has not healed----- the only place i see it is in her drinking water-

always a puzzle---   gums are pink- so she has not run out of blood yet..

i saw this yesterday -- and really assumed it would heal by today--- but this morning... same red.. nothing else seems wrong with her

so george here we come..  ??blood work?? she is a "lilly" child

i hope she cut herself--- i do not want any genetic nonsense.

she has eaten everything off the counters intended for the chickens-- so it could easily be a bone or plastic etc....

but it should have stopped by now..

the pups played so hard yesterday they slept right thru to 2:30am...  when i got up and fed them a dog food meal--  having it all ground up ready to be mixed and moistened with goats milk  made it relatively painless-- i would have been much more cheerful if they could have waited til 5am ... however.....

bud came late and we had a very smokey mess of a fire  without his management.

 and bella and family were here- bella looks great  in spite of recent surgery

puppy progress

 

last night crimson would not be quiet-- and the rest were sleeping

she tried climbing the short fence- finally i let her out and she went over to the furnature moving mat-- which someone had previously christened--sniffed once and moved her bowels..  GOOD MOVE

 

i was not thinking of that communication yet...  wow

 

that mat is not where i would have chosen to start the sniff training-- it is soooo big to wash  but apparently a puppy pad with appropriate smear might be called for now

 

they are all around my feet--- having had breakfast--- and mom jumped  in the pen for some peace and quiet while the pups roam th e living room

met with the dane for therapy testing-- nice dog--- not afraid to have people think it is ours.  I AM SURE IT WOULD PASS THE PUBLIC ACCESS TRAINING OF ADI

megan and bud held manny and frankie while i walked around with the other dog.

manny is picking up the concept-- go somewhere - do somehting-get in the ambu- go home

 

now frankie is still woowooowowo  we are going somehwhere---  and for the first ime in my life i had a dane put the ambu in reverse-- i was driving slowly--- but reverse is not drive-- the good ole ambu didn't complain much and happily continued as we shoved it back in drive.

 

and frankie and manny are not best friends as they battled for attention in the door of the van--- and again in harness

 

unfortunately blood shows on a white dog-- it is only a couple tiny punctures-- but enough for everyone in public to mention.-

-"he was bickering with his brother" is the response-- otherwise some will assume the tiny hole was caused by him being beaten with a club.

                             I am sure you all heard about the 70 tornado's that hit the area I am still in shock to see the damage that is here we really  lucked out where my daughter lives they were all around us at one point they were just 5 miles away we had the closet really to get into  the things were flying every where out side it was something else.  The reain outside was something else and the clouds I have never seen anything that that before you could see where the funnels were coming through , the tops of the trees were just taken off and the houses were just demolished I guess after seeing that the snow storms are not so bad after all.  we should be able to leave on saturday to be home for Easter since I am cooking for everyone . have a great easter and will see you the foweling sunday

The COA van we discussed is parked in the Wenham DPW yard. Last week it was started up with no problem. We would like to have you and/or someone from the Service Dog project come to Wenham to see and drive the van to confirm you would still be interested in receiving it.

 

Jerry and I are in Maine and will be returning tomorrow (Wed.) afternoon. We are planning on dropping by on the way home to discuss this with you. We also some cardboard pickups and newspapers for the little ones.

Hi Carlene, love all these pics by Mark and Barbara.  I am currently awaiting my mom’s final breaths at the Kaplan House at Hospice of the North Shore and there is a gazebo which we see from our window.  In this gazebo are benches with the donors names on them and one says that is was given by Mark and Barbara Amirault in memory of a relative.  Just wondering whether this is your camera Mark and family.  If so please let them know that I have sat upon that bench and given thanks for their donation and said a prayer for their loved one.

NOW AS FOR BEING CHEW TOYS-- CHAOS IS A KNOWN "MOUTH-ER"  CHEWS ON PEOPLE'S ARMS--- THAT IS TO BE DISCOURAGED...  NOW TESS--LOVELY QUIET TESS DECIDED TO CHOMP ON KATIE YESTERDAY-  THERE WAS ALOT OF EXCITEMENT  WITH DOGS RACING AROUND---

 

I THINK WE HAVE BEEN A LITTLE LAX IN THE CHEERFUL DEPARTMENT--- WE NEED TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION THAT WHEN PEOPLE ARE AROUND YOU DO NOT RACE AND CHEW.  THIS WILL STOP IMMEDIATELY IF WE CARRY MORE CHICKEN STRIP TREATS-- CALL-- WAIT ( TO MAKE THEM STAND STILL)  THEN TAKE IT.

 

WHEN THEY REALLY GET GOOD--- YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SAY WHOA FROM A DISTANCE-- THEN WALK TO THEM TO GIVE THEM A TREAT.

 

I TOOK BAILEY WITH ME TO THE  DR YESTERDAY--- AND WAS PAINFULLY AWARE SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO PARTICIPATES IN GENICERIC LIVING  WITH GRACE AND EASE.

MAYBE ONE LOOP AROUND THE POND  RUNNING ON A LEASH WITH THE GOLF CART  MIGHT TAKE SOME OF THE STARCH OUT OF THEM-  THEN CONTROLLED LIVING.

 

AND MEGAN- WHEN YOU ARE WORKING AROUND- YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE A DOG LOOSE WITH YOU- ( AND TREATS IN YOUR POCKET)

 

EVERY TIME YOU ARE HANDLING A DOG YOU ARE TRAINING IT.

 

DO NOT COME THRU A DOOR TIL I TELL YOU

DO NOT JUMP INTO THE CAR TIL TOLD.

AND KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND 4 ON THE FLOOR.

BOBBY'S SWIMMERS-- WITH THE HELP OF SOME OXYGEN HOSE- WERE IMPLANTED SOMEWHERE IN PISTOL.--

 

 GEORGE--- THAT HOSE- ACTUALLY CUT OFF THE CPAP MACHINE FROM MY SLEEP APNEA TEST- FIT PERFECTLY ON A 60 CC SYRINGE--- AND IT SEEMED TO GO IN EASIER THAN THE PIPETTE NORMALLY  USED...-

OF COURSE I AM ASSUMING IT WENT IN THE CORRECT PLACE--  THERE ARE SEVERAL CHOICES AT THE BACK END OF A FEMALE DOG.

 

I ROUNDED THE CUT EDGE WITH AN EMERY BOARD ( SUCH SCIENCE)

 

AND SINCE EVERYONE NEEDS ALL THE DETAILS.... IT WAS NOT  PERFECTLY MILKY--- BUT DID HAVE A SLIGHT TINGE OF  RED-- CLOSE TO A VERY PALE TANGERINE COLOR.. TO BE EXACT.

 

SHE IS DEFINITELY STILL IN HEAT--- FERTILE HEAT--- TAIL "FLAGGING"

AND THE LEG  MUSCLE SHE PULLED YESTERDAY  PLAYING WITH CHAOS   WAS MUCH BETTER-- BUT WE ALL FELT IT WAS TOO MUCH TO ASK OF HER-TO HAVE BOBBY LEAPING AROUND-- EVEN WITH THE CREATIVE USE OF A BEACH TOWEL-

 

IF SHE DOES HAVE PUPS-- THERE WILL  BE SOME INTERESTING -MEANINGFUL NAMES FROM WHICH TO CHOOSE.

 

AND WE CHECKED THE SWIMMERS ON THE MICROSCOPE PAUL HAS SET UP ON THE COMPUTER-

 

AMAZING  INSTEAD OF LOOKING IN THE EYEPIECES  THE IMAGE IS ON THE SCREEN.

AND CAN BE SAVED AS A FILE--- WHICH I DID AND TRIED TO EMAIL IT TO EVERYONE--- I HAVE YET TOI FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT A JPG--- IT IS A BMP AND NOT EVERYONE CAN READ IT.

FUN STEW-  ACTIVE BUNCH --

 WE HAVE AQUIRED A VOLUNTEER WHO  BRINGS GOOD SALADS- AND LIKES TO CLEAN STALLS- AND CAN RIDE- WITH JANINE'S SUPERVISION.

 

IT WAS DETERMINED THAT  THE  CUTE BLACK AND WHITE STALLION FROM THE KILL PENS IS VERY NICE... EXCEPT IS NOT BROKEN TO RIDE.

JANINE GOT ON HIM WITH NO SADDLE AND HE BASICALLY DID NOTHING.. AND THEN SHE PUT A SADDLE ON HIM AND HE SAID "WHAT ON EARTH IS TIED TO MY TUMMY"

 

HE HAS AN OWNER HERE SOMEWHERE-- AND JUST LANDED HERE FOR REASSESSMENT BEFORE GOING TO HIS NEW OWNER.

GIGI AND STERLING ( THE MOM AND POP BLUE PROJECT) HAD NICE WARM BATHS-- AND WORE JACKETS IN THE WIND...MEGAN REMARKED GIGI  ENJOYS BEING HUGGED  SO SHE SAT AT BUD'S FEET FOR HOURS- AND MANY PEOPLE PATTED HER-

MEANWHILE BUMPY AND OLIVE SPENT TIME ON THE NUTHOUSE  HILL TOGETHER     ....IT IS INTERESTING THAT ALL THESE PEOPLE THINK THE FUTURE PAIRS SHOULD SPEND TIME TOGETHER-- I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE TO PERFORMANCE ON THE 3 OR 4 DAYS WHEN PERFORMANCE COUNTS..

WE HAD A VERY NICE SMALLISH DANE HERE FOR THERAPY TESTING-  MUST BE A FULL DANE-- EXCEPT HER HEAD LOOKED LIKE A BEAGLE-S HEAD.

DOG TESTED VERY WELL-  SHE IS UNDER THE  VET CARE OF SOMEONE BESIDES GEORGE-- AND THAT VET HAD TOLD THEM TO FEED HER 3 CUPS OF FOOD TWICE A DAY-- AND SHE IS ROLLING IN FAT...

PER THERAPY DOGS INTERNATIONAL I AM SUPPOSED TO ONLY TEST- AND NOT GIVE ADVICE....  BUT THE DOG  WAS ENTIRELY TOO PUGGY- SO WE GAVE THE OWNER A VISUAL OF WHAT OUR DOGS LOOK LIKE ON 2 CUPS TWICE A DAY AS THE "GENERIC " FEED.

 

GRANTED WE HAVE SEVERAL THAT GET LUNCH-- COUPLE OF THE "PUPS" HAVE HAD A GROWTH SPURT AND ARE A LITTLE TOO BONEY-- BUT THIN IS BETTER THAN FAT--

 

MEANWHILE MERLOW IS SURVIVING ON 4 CUPS 5 TIMES A DAY.

 THERE HAS TO BE SOME ADJUSTMENT FOR CIRCUMSTANCES---   BUT 2 TWICE A DAY IS OUR GENERIC FEED.

TOMORROW  THE LINN FOUNDATION PEOPLE WILL COME HERE TO "INSPECT" THE PROGRESS WE HAVE MADE WITH THE MONEY THEY HAVE GIVEN US

 

CONSEQUENTLY TODAY WILL BE SPENT TIDYING UP THE  JOINT.
