we--- ann and i  --- kissed the jaffe grant goodbye at fedex... the directions on how to submit.. were not very clear-- so we opted for paper-- which we understood...

4wheeled girl brought us a mamouth pile of fried fishermans platter stuff from the gret fried clam place down the road.. topped with mos of a chocolate bar, i had no choice but o go to bed with alkaseltzer

and just when you think it could not get worse in orlando, it does..  signs for no swimming and a lifeguard are going to be a problem for some lawyers..

which does me absolutely no good...  why should the fbi not have tehe same rights as wedding cake sellers??? this is why when i looked up videographers , i ended up getting reams of ads for wedding calkes.. why is it not legal to connect the dots if it pertains to travel, gun purchase, books read or google spots visited?  and certainly the type of gun purchased should flash a red light somewhere...  maybe finally they will consider the outlawing of certain guns..don't hold your breath

basic problem there is illustrated when someone gives a speech to congress  either one group or the other cheer and stand up  yoou never see a smattering randon collection of people who THINK  and  ageee or disagree..-  who dictates what the group mind  will be ahead of time???

why if people are going to practice shooting guns for sport, is the target the outline of a person and not the cheerful bullseye...some guy once took my grandson out for  target practice and i was appalled to have the shape of a man be the target...i see it even on mythbusters... why not the circle...????  get 'em young train 'e m early -- like mcdonalds... you need to shoot a person.

we  ( ann) has this grant proposal written  and it is wonderful-- but the instrctions about how to send it are very vague..  so now we have to figure this out today..

it would be wonderful if we could just say "we are great , give us $100,000"... but it doesn't work that way...

this grant concentrates on kids- and  if they watch the video of teal,wendy and george , i don't see how thay can not give ius a bunch of money..

it got very confusing yesterday - among other things we have soooo many steves-- i told someone "send this to steve" meaning charlie's steve(#4)    and it  got sent to #1 steve in ny by mistake..--barker beds wants to do a video involving steve #4 - i lost track of the details  but barker beds are a great product we use..... i wish i had one for my bed...

steve #2 went to visit annie and she spoke to us on the phone..  she sounds great..  this next batch of get well cards will i think get her over 150 cards... her nurses must be  amazed... and from all over the world !!!

now it is about moving the camera from the donkey stall to the whelping area for noel's impending deliveryi will consult withthe powers that be... we do have 2 more unused  cameras here-- and i don't know if we can swap off  connecting lines... t otherwise we will have to move it to get closeups  the normal house camer is screwed to the cieling and  can't do closeups--  and joyce said she could be eere saturday..

bailey is doing well... so well that i am afraid she is gaining weight to the point that her rear is haveing trouble lifting it..

somehow  there is a meassage there...

she is still definite about who sleeps on which sofa.. as when she wants to swap, she stands and glares at  bentley until we have to ask him to move... then she gets right up...   this goes on all day  back and forth between 3 sofas... she tells you which one she wants next.

we have dustin with us....  also   on a diet big time.

i think this purina proplan has slightly more  calories than we planned on.. we have Pudgy going around

 i had to ask purina to hold back 2 pallets of food  in the next delivery-- time we got to the absolute back of the bin.. ( which is a 20 foot long container of the sea-worthy  type)..

i have had many emails about guns--- and why the rifle assoc needs these rapid fire wobbly bullets to tear flesh?

do you think it unreasonable to allow only the single shot guns-- and if you are that bad a shot, use the shotgun pellet kind...  they worked fine for years...

i remember......i was at the north shore mall one day, and saw a man going into the mall with what looked like a rifle-- i called 911 and tole them- and before i hung up the phone 345 cruizers had surrounded the place...-- i felt terrible and went to appologise to one i knew.. and he praised my  effort... the guy was returning a bee bee gun-- it was not a time to worry about  the details...

the fbi guy who spoke was-- i thought very correct-- the only way ( at the moment)to contain all this is for everyone to keep their eyes open..  he explained they wer not only looking for a needle in a haystack, they were looking for a piece of hay that might be used as a needle.

I'd like to share with you what I got in the mail today.  If you remember, when I was in the hospital Dawn's students sent me a lovely e-get well card and for that I sent them treats of Kit Kat and Snicker bars, along with Rice Krispie Pops (round ball of Rice Krispie treat on a stick).

HEAR THIS ONE AND ALL. Today, I received a large envelop stuffed full of Thank You Cards from no other than Dawn's Stedman students...all 24 of them. They are beautiful and so touching. I loved reading all of them and now my husband and son are enjoying them too. Each student had their own special message with pictures of hearts, dogs, cats, Kit Kat, Snicker bars and Rice Krispy pops. Many mentioned how they love the puppies and donkeys. One young man wanted to know if I had a son. Well, I do have a son, infact, I have two grown sons and one daughter. I can fully understand that Dawn loves her students..she makes them very special. THANK YOU DAWN AND THANK YOU STEDMAN'S.

we now have as a house guest, one of the camera operators  ? from canada?  who will be "doing her shift" on camera from this office...  we can spin this house camera so you can watch her... i have forgotten her schedule-- but i am sure  it will appear on the comment column

i have had to clamp down own people going out the driveway with pups/dogs... either for  training walk arounds or overnights.. it was getting a little too loose--if carlene has not officially approved when she was awake and alert with hearing aid on... then just don't.

i realize for me to be   awake ,alert , and hearing  may present a problem... but that is just the fact of life...  especially when someone leaves theri dog here when they go somewherre... it stays here !!  currently dustin is here as david and wife had some family emergency in nebraska or somewhere...   dustin stays here period... plus he needs to be on a diet- he has a huge "top of tail depression"  which is teh equilivant of "love handles."

for educational purposes----a great deal of time was taken up discussing the color of the drip coming out of the back of opal.  she does not drip "by the book."--   i have been told- by the book.... red drip 10 days   then  salmon color for 4 ( which is the attractive/fertile stage) then  minimal to nothing...  welllllll-- opal went thru the red and then spent 4 days with grommet- and we let her go home with the concept that those swimmers he put in there would last another 24-48 hours... and sandy reports she is dripping  a very little...dark red..

problem is  i need a new book for every animal--- and sandy is maybe just too observant...  there is noting we can do anyway...

like the ad says   "i only monitor the situation ".

final day on this jaffee award...ann has done a fantastic job- and we do have a video showing the 3 kids and their dogs.  it could be better-- and may yet get that way-- but the direction said not to spend money - an amatur  video done with a phone would be fine...

i wil now write an intro to the video in case it never gets any furthere...

in reactio ot my problem with "if" statements, gwen wrote....

In project management, I struggle with the words "except" and "just," as in, "it's all done except for X."  Or "we can do that, we just have to Y." 

I estimate I spend 10% of my work time struggling with technology. I have to have 2 computers (for work; I also have a home one I don't want polluted with work stuff), because they behave differently, but it increases my chance of having one that will work right when I need it.

So I think all that stuff is par for the course, in a two steps forward, one step back kind of way.

and on tv this morning  there was a  ad saying the current technology is just the tip of the iceberg...  the ad was hoping i would think i would be delighted to have my entire computer on my wrist.. in a word...NO----- in an effort to try and send someone an email yesterday, the screen automatically put in  meaty steve's email address because he was standing next to me and had his phone in his pocket...

good sunday stew yesterday...  we had a bunch of new people and a couple semi  local applicants--  had some good food-- and judi managed a carrot cake  as only she can.. we still have not tried her  wong ton wrappers in the cup cake holders filled with goo.. of buffallo chicken style.  maybe tonight/

we do have a cp with friends in the orlando shooting- as yet not heard from so they are needing your thoughts...

tell me.... if we can not seem to outlaw guns, could we outlaw the kind of rapid fire ones that are built to cause the most tissue damage, which apparently this was...and who makes these??? 

 and if the town can question  if i should be allowed to build an infirmary on my land---  why is that questioned  while  building guns to rip people apart is not questioned???

 i have a problem with all that...

 THE INSOMNIA SHOW LAST NIGHT WAS ON BARROWS ALASKA-- NORTHERN MOST CITY.

 I WAS CERTAINLY GLAD TO HAVE THAT GUY FROM CNN GO THERE AND WANDER AROUND SO I NEVER WOULD HAVE TO-- THAT UNITED SHADES OF AMERICA- IS AN INTERESTING SHOW......IN THE CASE OF BARROWS...ALL I HAD TO HEAR WAS 70 BELOW ZERO.. BUT THE PART THAT WAS FASCINATING WAS THE WHALING DISCUSSION... AND HOW THE NATIVES WERE ONCE TOTALLY SUSTAINED BY NATURE- AND HOW PROGRESS HAS SET IN AND NOW THEY ARE TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON AIRPLANES.  EXCEPT FOR THE LONE "LIBRARIAN" WHO STRUGGLES TO KEEP THE NATIVE CUSTOMS AND LANGUAGE AT LEAST ALIVE.. THE INVADING FORCE WAS RELIGIOUS MISSIONARIES SETTING UP SCHOOLS TO EDUCATE THE KIDS AND WIPE OUT WHAT WAS PERHAPS A FAR  MORE SUSTAINABLE WAY OF LIFE. WHICH SOMEONE ELSE DECIDED WAS "UNEDUCATED" -  THAT IS THE MCDONALDS THEORY OF HUMAN MANAGEMENT.."GET 'EM YOUNG AND TRAIN 'EM EARLY WITH "HAPPY MEALS"..

HAVING READ THE  BOOK "TRIBE"   IT CERTAINLY APPLIES THERE.. WHEN A WHALE IS BROUGHT IN BY THE MEN INA HUGE CANOE SORT OF THING- IT IS TOTALLY USED.. EVERY PART.. AND IT IS TOATALLY SHARED WITH THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. A YOUNG MAN SAID HE COULD NOT THINK OF EATING ANY OF THE WHALE IF HE HAD A NEIGHBOR WHO DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO EAT.  IT SEEMED SUCH AN HONEST STATEMENT-

IT ALSO STRUCK ME THAT THE NATIVES HAVE BEEN THERE FOR  THOUSANDS OF YEARS- AND PROGRESS HAS MADE THEM  100% VULNERABLE IN ABOUT 40 YEARS WITH THEIR HUMMMMVEEEES..

ANN IS STRUGGLING THRU THE JAFFEE AWARD VERBAGE--AND I STRUGGLED WITH THE VIDEO WE NEED TO PRODUCE TO GO WITH IT.   THIS EFFORT HAS BROUGHT ME TO THE CONCLUSION, WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTERS, DON'T GIVE ME ADVICE UNLESS YOU  HAVE ACTUALLY DONE THE TASK 1000 TIMES BEFORE. 

PROBLEM WAS TO TAKE THE 3 VIDEOS OF THE DOGS  TEAL, WENDY AND GOERGE AND EDIT THEM INTO A 3 MINUTE FILM.  ALMOST EVERYBODY- WITHOUT EXCEPTION- SAID IS SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.  SHOULD BENG THE OPERATIVE WORD..

IT CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.. EXCEPT.... HERE IS NOTHING A COMPUTER DOES MORE EFFICIENTLY THAN TO SCREW UP A SIMPLE PROJECT.  CREATING THIWS 3 MINUTE FILM IS  CERTAINLY IS DO-ABLE---  BUT I HARDLY HAVE TIME TO LIST ALL THE REASONS IT IS NOT DO-ABLE BY ME-- OR ANYONE AROUND HERE...FROM FILE TYPES - TO WRONG CHARGERS WITH BATTERIES NEARLY DEAD- TO FILE SIZES NOT EMAILED. 

I HATE THE  SPOKEN WORD  "IF".   THAT WORD IMMEDIATELY IMPLIES  SOMETHING  " IS NOT "   "IF WE HAD..."

IN THE COMPUTER WORLD THAT "IF" STATEMENT GIVES THE COMPUTER  THE CHANCE TO MAKE A DECISION.. "IF  X=Y THEN GO TO  ABC IF NOT   GO TO  DEF" 

THE OUTCOME OF THE WHOLE THING IS  I AM  BEING INUNDATED WITH EMAILS ADVERTISING WEDDING CAKES...

WHICH IS ALL VERY LOGICAL...

I DECIDED TO HIRE SOMEONE WHO DOES THIS FOR A LIVING-- A VIDEOGRAPHER-- -- SO AS I GOOGLED VIDEOGRAPHER, I DID NOT REALIZE MOST OF THEM DO WEDDINGS- SO MY SEARCH PUT ME ON THE LIST OF A BRIDE LOOKING TO VIDEO THE WEDDING-- WHICH CAKE MAKERS HAVE PURCHASED THE LISTS OF SEARCHERS.. 

SO NOW I GET CAKE ADS....ALOT OF THEM... HOPEFULLY I ALSO GET THE VIDEO BY 5PM TODAY.

GOLDIE   is at it again... this Ghost Of the Lefthand Drawer- has come thru again..  

oh ye of little faith---i hope someone is keeping track....  

we need a 3 minute video to send with this jaffee grant request...($ 100,000) and ann has worked overtime to get the verbage together.. 

so i have been working to figure out how to take pieces of the videos of  3 children  hunter and wendy climbing stairs, bella and george, and teal and josheelyn with that wmur tv --- which is in a format we can't edit.

i have struggled ¾ the day.... and the phone rang... somebody wanting a dane - so i talked for a bit...the usual-  i don't know why i asked her what she had retired from,,,,, video production !!!!! 

i hope someone is keeping track of these ...GOLDIE HAPPENINGS...  THERE HAVE BEEN SOOOOOO MANY

I THINK GOLDIE  MANEFESTED HERSELF    WITH THE HORRIBLE STENCH IN MY LEFT HAND DESK DRAWER ALL OF A SUDDEN...- IT WASN'T TOO BAD CLOSED, BUT OPEN  THE DRAWER AND IT WAS  OVERWHELMING.... I TRIED EVERYTHING FROM SOAPS TO FINALLY  POURING ANNESETTE LIQUOR-- WHICH SOMEONE TOLD ME WAS AN OVERWHELMING ODOR...  TO NO AVAIL...

THEN ONE DAY-- SUDDENLY-- THE SMELL WAS GONE.

 BUT THE   "HAPPENINGS" HAVE CONTINUED--BRAND NEW SNEAKERS IN A BOX.. MY SIZE APPEARED UPSTAIRS...  WISHING I COULD FIND OUR FRY PAN WHICH WE USED TO FEED THE DONKEYS SO FINGERS DIDN'T GET BETTEN-- AND AT MAIL CALL THAT NIGHT.... 2 PURPLE FRY PANS-- THAT NIGHT !!! THEY WERE IN THE MAIL BEFORE I REALIZED I NEEDED THEM...THERE HAVE BEEN DOZENS OF EXTREMELY STRANGE OCCURANCES.... JUST LIKE THIS VIDEOGRAPHER APPEARIING  AS I AM DOING BATTLE WITH VIDEO FILES...

AFTER MUCH STRUGGLING-- IT OCCURS TO ME THAT I COUDL JUST RUN THE 3 VIDEOS AND TAKE SCREEN VIDEO OF THE PARTS I WANT... BUT THEN IT IS TOO BIG TO SEND EMAIL..

THERE IS A GAP HERE THAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND-- PLUS KNOWING IT CAN BE DONE  AND I DON'T KNOW HOW IS EXTREMELY UPSETTING.

SO I AM BACK TO  HOW BIG A FILE CAN BE EMAILED???

last night was the cummings  grant awards--- ann and i went.. with bentley...

bentley behaved beautifully -- he was nervous but he settled into the  routine of strangers reaching for him.. which made me nervous... but we made it.  bentley got quite good at lying there opening his mouth so i could drop in bits of cheese-- or other finger foods...

Of course the first one to reach to pat him  was bill cummings-  of cummings foundation which had just given us $100,000-- and all i could see were the headlines about biting the hand that feeds you..(.i had hold of his jowls in that situation....) 

it was a very nice 'doing"  they read the names of the 100 agencies that got the grants,,,  with alot of cheering when their name was called-- so anne and i barked when they called ours...

Bill cummings made a statement comparing the current political arena to pre hitler germany.- and he recognized that this room full of 200 people all had much better outlook and goals.  He made a comment about there were exact quotes now  used from mein kamph. now i suppose i have to go read that. as long as it is not in german...

awsome annie has been moved to  brockton rehab-- and meaty steve has a care package to give her with all the cards and letters she got yesterday,,   i see we did get a bee house at  mail call...  i will have to check to see what else..

i hope i have located someone to do the editing of teh 3 videows we have....  joshlyn,hunter and bella.. i  went thru and listed the segments and have sent it to someone  in boston to edit...   we need  3 minutes of that for the next grant proposal.

the password i have in  my notes is no longer-- so i went to ?forgot your password? and tey asked for my email-which called up a screen asking for  name and email and password..-- so i did that which got me back to  the sign in screen..

here is where short term memory kicks in....  i fill in the blanks which gets me  wrong password...? forget-- so i go the loop again  and write down  what i think is the new password- and it says  you can't use  the old one.-- which it just told me was not correct...
