pup report...all  6 living pups are living !!! she did have one more doa-- but all the rest are doing great... mom is a bit of a beginner-- but her deliveries were unusually quick-- having caught the first while she was trying to get out the gate.... and one other, i nearly missed because i was splicing megs rope and gabby didn't show much movement-- it just slid out...

aren't we lucky... 6 more blacks---( they do have "better" markings....)  i think 5 boys one girl... those umbilical cords do confuse things-- we have had more than onf boy turn out to be a girl...

I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR ALL OF THE SUPPORT AND INSPIRATION YOU HAVE GIVEN ME AND UPDATE YOU ON THE SUCCESSES OUR FIRST SERVICE DANE HAS HAD.  IN HER FIRST 3 WEEKS WITH HER PARTNER SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL WITH HER PARTNER WHERE HE CRYED AS HE WAS WHEELED OUT OF PRE-OPT WHEN HE HAD TO LEAVE HER, BUS TRIPS OF 100 MILES TWICE, STARTING THEIR SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL , A COUNTY FAIR WITH 30,000 OTHER PEOPLE AND TODAY, A PLANE RIDE FROM SEATTLE TO GEORGIA.  IT TOOK TWO PSA AGENTS TO HOLD HER WHILE THE INSPECTED HIM.  SHE DID ALL OF THIS WITH FLYING COLORS.  MY DAUGHTER RAN ACROSS THEM AT THE FAIR.  SHE IS A VERY STRONG YOUNG WOMEN WHO BUILDS HOT RODS WITH HER HUSBAND AND IS A HORSE BEHAVIORIST.  SHE BROKE DOWN AND CRYED WHEN SHE SAW HOW WELL THEY WERE DOING TOGETHER. 

YOUR ADVICE AND GUIDANCE ALONG WITH TRAINER TALK AND WATCHING THE CAMERAS HAS GIVEN ME A BIG HELPING HAND IN STARTING UP MY PROJECT.  WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT POO PICKERS OR: “THEY COME TRAINED…..JUST DON’T MESS THEM UP.  THERE IS NO WAY I COULD OF TRAINED FOR EVERYTHING THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALREADY BUT I PREPARED THEM TO WORK TOGETHER AND MAKE A GREAT TEAM.  I HAVE LEARNED SEVERAL THINGS I NEED TO ADD BUT BY GIVING THEM A GREAT FOUNDATION THEY MADE IT THROUGH ANY THINGS I DIDN'T EVEN DREAM OF.  MANY THANKS TO ALL OF SERVICE DOG PROJECT PEOPLE FOR THE INSPIRATION YOU HAVE GIVEN ME.  I WILL EVEN FORGIVE MEAT CHIPPER STEVE’S JOKES!

 my mind  is full of florida things.... mostly get out !!!--  visions of state police escorting tanketr trucks-- south    wth gasonline--- while suspecting one tank of gas is not going to get a car the full legnth of florida---- miami to jacksonville 350 miles and the path of the storm is set to follwo that path--  so  somewhere you will have a plethera of cars out of gass as their miles pre gallon tells a truth....   pick ups will run out first....--- suv's next.. then "luxury cars" ... normal cars-- and all the  compacts will wizz by to georgia......   while the storm grinds on at 10- 15 miles per hour???? i suppose if yo plan it right you could get in the eye and crawl north with  the sun shining?????  that is as sensible as some of the  other things i am hearing  like the guy falling out of a 70 story building "i am ok so far"--- 

and if you have any clean container--- fill it with water... the water coming out of the faucets is ... apparently-- still perfectly good... so why waste time on prebottled?

 They live in the Miami Beach area (Florida) .. I have been trying to"keep up" as best I can with CPs in the Florida area .. anyhoo Ishanti had to get everything in a row (gas , her medical stuff , etc etc etc) but They are on the road ... As I type this at this moment , they are in the car at the northern end of the (Florida) Turnpike .... they are heading to her hometown .. "for a while" ....... at the end of this note will be her facebook post ..... If you guys need/want to reach her .. she has her cell phone

AND IT IS NOT HORRENDOUSLY EXPENSIVE  --  THIS HAPPENS WITH  PRECISION  WHILE THE PUPS ARE IN THE HOUSE-- AS PUPS AGE, THEY GET TRANSFERRED TO THE ONCE EVERY 3 MONTH WITH THE PILLS "ALL WORMER' WHICH  I ORDER FROJM AUSTRAILIA- NOT SOLD HERE THAT I KNOW OF...  THIS LAST BUNCH OF PUPS WERE UNFORTUNATE TO GET SHIFTED TO KENNEL 10 JUST AFTER THE ENTIRE HERD OF DOGS WAS WORMED WITH THE 3 MONTH VARIETY...  SO WE HAD A 2.9 MONTH GAP IN WORMING FOR ROUND WORMS  AND RIGHT  NOW WE HAVE "SIGNS"  OF  NEEDING WORMING... LOOSE STOOL WITH VERMICHELLI... ETC... IT WASN'T ANYONE'S FAULT-- JUST A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WHINC I AM SUPPOSED TO FIGURE OUT AHEAD OF TIME...  OBVIOUSLY THE WORMS  NEEDED TO POINT OUT MY ERROR.... IT ENDS UP JUST ONE MORE  SEEMINGLY UNRELATED "ORDER"   WORM ALL PUPS  FOR ROUNDWORMS BEFORE SHIFTING TO KENNEL 10  sounds like an idiot  ruling *** fyi-- this is supposed to be educatonal...... WHILE ON THE TOPIC OF WORMING EDUCATION--- KEEPING IN MIND I AM NOT A VETERNARIAN.....--  THE DOGS MUST BE WORMED FOR HEARTWORM EVERY MONTH--after a certain age... INSTEAD OF THE PILLS ( EXPENSIVE) we use THE CATTLE IVERMECTIN  IS THE SAME STUFF - AND MUCH CHEAPER -- JUST DO YOUR MATH CARELFULLY MG.CC KG's AND LB's--  i think we figured 1/3 of 1 cc per adult monthly  and the bottle has 50 cc;'s in a farm catalog.  read all labels...  **  there are several BUTT's  i know... store bought heartworm pills do somethign like kill fleas too... but we are on another flea/tick program-- and every once in a whle.. even the 1/3 if 1 cc produces vermacelli--   but our  2 'programs" must be adhere'd to regardless...  ---- on the topic of education.... along with control of my heart  rate  with the ingestion of chocolate-- i have one more--- i am back to wearing a back brace-- it is called   tight blue jeans-- it is experimental at this stage... but... somehow i squeezed into an older pair today and am doing less wall walking... i seem to remember noting a problem when i went up in size-- they were more comfortable but i wall walked..   to b e contimnued... ***** One year ago, Seagram & I were matched together. It is difficult to believe that we have been together for only a year, because she is so integral to every aspect of my life. And I cannot imagine life without her. She helps me walk, of course, but she also makes me laugh at least daily. On the good days, we are able to accomplish outings that I had struggled with (and almost given up on), such as walking at the beach. On the not-so-good days, she is especially understanding, and simply comforts me with her touch -- the most dramatic impact  is when she tries to sit so close that she sits on me (lol).  Everyone where we go, people first comment on how polite she is, and remark that she is so well-trained.  how she is so beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, etc. Next I tell them that with her help, I am walking better than I have in years, and they are quite impressed.  My best friend and I spent the afternoon together a few weeks ago. She notes how Seagram has been so good for me, saying that that Seagram is "better than any medicine -- emotionally & physically...I think she is the best thing that has ever happened to you, except for (my husband)...and she gives you the confidence to walk." My parents recently visited and we had a heart-to-heart. My Dad (who owns a family-friendly Irish pub, and has had unpleasant encounters with so-called "service dogs"), admitted, "When you first told me about this, I was skeptical." He noted that before I "was walking like an invalid with the walker," but now, there is "a spring in (my) step." He is impressed in how much my walking has improved over the year. Seagram has even won over the skeptic in my family!! Thank you so much for this wonderful gift!! I am so grateful to you, and also the Trainers, staff, volunteers, and CPs -- all who have helped to bring us together!!    Amy

it's....radio smashing day... i have had it !!  i have before suggested we not have radio's playing music in the kennels and around.. it is not just me being bossy-- let me explain - the radio in the barn was  one of the causes for the  fact that a person fell in the puppy hill and the puppies played with him for 6 minutes jumping all over him-- playing, but he could not get up...  it could have been alot worse-- these were in play mode... but he screamed for 6 minutes and no one heard.  his " monitoring"  person was in the feed room... but with the radio, he could not hear him,......

now radio 2 is in the kitchen  about 18 feet from my desk...-- it is turned down low.... but with my advanced aging ears, i don't hear much.. except the ebase/drumbeat... and it causes me to try and figure ot which piece of equipment is thumping like that... and then the tv-- that is no longer "the sun room"... it is linda's room for the purpose of working... it is not a gathering place... and to that end, there will be no tv running.  the kitchen.. s will be the gathering place -- without any comfortable chairs...  work time may be improved.

tht is just the start -- we are having a staff meeting at 9:00-- fall has fallen...time to get organized...  this is a fun, interesting place to work... but i need to remind everyone..main object is... to work ! -i may be a volunteer, but finding money to keep us running is  work too !!.

 the hardest part for me  is to refrain from speaking my mind too often and have someone  ruin the whole deal on facebook...

of all the wonderful people around here... there are 2 who are unhappy- and a bit too snappy--

tackling tachycardia---  i have to share  FYI    ----  i hope i am not temptong fate....-i had those few episodes of heart rate over 140-- it was scary--- but they could find no specific reason.and wanted to put me on meds every day..  i really don't like that... so i took one only if it started to rise...  this caused me to concentrate on what caused it to rise...  and i am very unhappy to report-----  chocolate... is the guilty  reason..  and i now have demonstrated that 2 dark chocolate m & m's will raise my pulse from 75 to 85  and 1/2 a chocolate brownie went to 105- amazing... i never poaid attention before.. 

now i wonder what whipped cream is doing..... it is pumpkin pie season  and boy  does that call for whipped cream...

today will be corn distribution day... yesterday-- not realizin g it wwas a vacation day, i went to the beverly bootstraps outfit with a car full...  they were closed- so i drove by george's to find him packing for new hampshire... and unloaded a bushell for them to have..  i willl go back after the meeting.. it was picked saturday afternoon  so it is still fresher thatn anything you could buy in a store.

WEDNESDAY IS THE START OF 7TH GRADE!!! SO CRAZY. WEDNESDAY WILL COME WITH A BIG ADJUSTMENT FOR EVERYONE. GEORGE IS GOING TO HAVE TO GET BACK IN THE HABIT OF WORKING ALL DAY AGAIN AND THEY ARE BOTH GOING TO HAVE TO WAKE UP AND GET READY FOR SCHOOL ON TIME! NO MORE SLEEPING IN FOR EITHER OF THEM. PIXIE HAD A A FUN DAY AT MY MOMS CAMP CELEBRATING HER BIRTHDAY. SHE ENJOYED ALL THE SIGHTS AND SMELLS. SHE WAS SUCH A GOOD GIRL MEETING NEW PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN WAITING TO MEET MY SPECIAL GIRL. THEY WHERE ALL AMAZED WITH HOW SHE WATCHED OVER ME AND WAS RIGHT BY SIDE EVEN IF SHE OFF CHECKING OUT A NEW INTERESTING THING THAT CAUGHT HER EYE. SHE IS MY SIDE KICK AND MY ANGEL MY SWEET GIRL. WE HAD A GREAT DAY OUT AND NOW ENJOYING A NICE RELAXING SUNDAY GETTING RESTED UP FOR OUR NEXT ADVENTURE ON TUESDAY

WHOOPS---   I THINK WE HAVE PROVEN THAT THE PEOPLE WHO PICK CORN AND DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH KNOW A HECK OF ALOT MORE ABOUT CORN PICKING THAN WE DO...  I NOW THINK--- THAT THE REASON SO MUCH CORN GETS LEFT IN THE FIELD IS THAT THE GOOD OLE AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE-- OR HOUSEHUSBAND WILL CAREFULLY STAND AT THE FARM STAND AND STRIP BACK THE TOPS OF TEH CORN AND IF THERE IS MORE THAN 1/2 INCH OF UNDEVELOPED CORN- THEY TOSS IT BACK IN THE BIN... EVEN THO 87% OF TEH  EAR OF CORN IS PERFECT.... IT IS TEH AMERICAN WAY... PERFECT CORN..

SOOOOO....  WHEN THIS CREW GOES THRU THE FIELD, THEY PICK ONLY THE PERFECT EARS, KNOWING FULL WELL THAT IF THEY AHAVE ANY WIHT UNDEVELOPED KERNELS  THEY WILL JUST BE LEFT AT THE FARM STAND- SO THEY MAY AS WELL LEAVE THEM IN THE FIELD...  INSTEAD OF QUICKLY DECIDING  WE HAD JUST A BUNCH OF POOR PICKERS, WE NOW THINK THEY ARE PERFECT PICKERS  WHICH LUCKILY LEAVE ALOT OF CORN FOR ANYONE WHO GETS THERE BEFORE THE TRACTOR PPLOWS IT UNDER...THIS ALSO MEANS MR MARINI UNINTENTIONALLY DONATED $200 WORTH OF  PERFECT CORN TO US...

WE GAVE A LOT OF IT WAY TO ANYONE HERE YESTERDAY-- BUT STILL HAVE A BUNCH... SO I MAY TAKE IT TO  "YOUR BROTHRS TABLE" IN BEVERLY TODAY.

THE DONKEY RACE PROGRESSES..... JANINE IS MANAGING SO FAR WITH AN OVERWHELMING PROJECT...  BUT SHE SEEMED TO HAVE ANSWERS FOR ANY IDEAS I HAD.. SO MAYBE..... MY ADVICE TO HER IS TO MAKE NO PLANS FOR HERSELF FOR THE LAST HOUR BEFOR  "CALL TO THE POST"  IF SHE HAS 100% CREATIVE GENUIS' MANNING THE  ROPES, IT WLL BE NO PROBLME-- LIKE SHE HAS SOMEONE WITH A BUGLE-- WHO CAN'T PLAY IT- TO STND OUT FRONT  WHILE SOMEONE RUNS THE  RECORDING-- THE TIMING THAT WILL REQUIRE IS MIND BOGGLING TO ME.... I WOULD RATHER-- SINCE THE WHOLE THING IS A FARCE ON KENTUCKY DERBY, HAVE SOMEONE COME OUT AND BLOW ONE LONG NOTE-- ALOT LESS TIMING INVOLVED...   THERE ARE ALOT OF DONKEYS INVOLVED- AND GATHERING THEM AHEAD OF TIME   AND HOLDING THEM....IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY... FOR A FULL 6 MINUTES BEFORE HE WAS ABLE TO GET UP...  IT WAS NOT DONE IN ANGER... THE PUP WAS HAVING A GRAND TIME PLAYING WITH HIS FACE.... LUCKILY HE DID NOT MAKE TOOTH CONTACT... BUT IT WAS AWFUL...  AND TEH MORE HE SCREAMED FOR HELP... THE MORE EXCITED THE 2 PUPS GOT AND THOUGHT IT WAS PART OF THE GAME. ---AS WE ADDRESSED IT... DONNA SAID " OH I KNOW WHO THAT IS---    XXXX  WHO DID THAT ALL THE TIME IN THE KITCHEN..."  OH GREAT...  SOMEHOW IT DID NOT GET MENTIONED TO MEGAN OR STEVE TO ADDRESS THAT BEFORE THE PUPS GOT SO BIG... AND NOW WE HAD TO WASH OUT THAT PUP,...  THE SHAME IS.... I SAW THE START OF IT   WAY BACK  AND TOLD PEOPLE NOT TO ALLOW THAT  BUT DID NOT FOLLOW THRU .  I SHOULD HAVE TOLD THE PEOPLE TO GET THE  %&^*()_*&^%$#^&*()  OUT OF THE PUPPY PEN ENTIRELY, AND REPORTED IT TO MEGAN /STEVE TO DEAL...   SO IT IS MY FAULT-- BUT BELIEVE ME ... PROBLEM IS.. THAT PUP NEVER LEARNED THEIR MANNERS- AND WE CAN NOT HAVE  A SERVICE DOG OUT THERE WITH ONE KNOWN SCREW LOOSE... SO WE HAVE OFFERED HER TO  A VOLUTEER WHO HAS THE STREGNTH OF WILL TO EXPLAIN MANNERS  TO A 150 POUND DOG.

MY FAULT-- I SAW THE START OF IT IN THE KITCHEN  WITH VOLUNTEERS/ AND STAFF  SITTING ON THE FLOOR...  SITTIN WITH THE PUPS  IS STILL FINE.. EXCEPT THERE HAVE TO BE RULES OF BEHAVIOR--  EVEN AT 4 WEEKS OLD...  THER EIS AN INSTINCT TO JUMP AT MOMMY'S FACE-- SO THE PROPER RESPONSE IS----- "GET OFF , I AINT YOUR MOMMY"

  from lynn.....Gabby is arriving Saturday morning.  My prediction is 8 pups

here we go again.....  this is a good spacing 7 weeks old for one bunch "bugs"  and the next arrives..... those will be opening their eyes for dogfest and the bugs will be good fun....gabbies will be eating out of dishes when audrey arrives...  not too bad...

Pockets is the concern for the day i am glad to hear she was up eating hay.. and scrolling back i see that she was lying down-- but the significant part is that she rolled before she got up-- a donkey that is too sick does not bother to roll or swat flys.  th st does not mean she is out of the woods-- bryan said he was lookingg for improvement after 48 hours on the  meds( injections) + she is on the  "aspirin " kind of paste stuff which would make her feel better... he thinks she might have a "gut" issue  and she is getting some  "paste" for that.. fyi all this paste stuff comes in a fat syringe and the plunger has "bumps"     she is getting 4 bumps of the aspirin stuff and 2 bumps of the gut whatever...

i do have aa  question.... looking from afar... mo is 1800 pounds +pockets @ 400 + 5 mini's at 250 each=3450 pounds of equines if my math is correct... we have also 30 chickens at about 7 pounds each = 210 pounds of chickens  so why  is my food  bill at the co-op  $50 for equine food and $150 for chicken feed...???-- something just does not compute there.... when yo add both pockets and mo look a little thin.... it coud be a simple thing like there is no place to feed either  without the mini's getting involved.. so people "volunteers - not knowing where to feed them, just don't.i had started trying to feed mo and pockets in small dishes out in the  yard- which works well... except.... when pockets didn't finish her breakfast in the raised bucket of the tractor ( which mo does not know about) i just left it there figuring she could go back and finish it... might need help putting her foot on the box-- but that i was aware of  and did that... she didn't finish  which is when i noticed she was lethargic and began to call for help from bryan...  what i also noticed ist when we were trying to free feed ms harl and GG  they left food in the dish and did not touch it... yet would eat out of our hands....ODD...

that, i am afraid of .... is the birds....-- in both cases an unattended dish of sweet feed is an invitation to dine with these 100000's of birds.

boy do we got those !!!  and it is not simple to get rid of them either..... plus... not sure if it is related but...  we have had darn few mosquitos and ticks this year.... after the tv telling  us ther would be a bumper crop of ticks,  i think i have "tic picked" only 2 ticks  the entire season... when a few years ago 6 to 8 ticks per dog per day was not unusual.... in spite of whatever goop we used...

my point being.....just as  why 2 ships ran ibnto each other,  jumping at a few obvious  causes/ solutions  , might not consider the interrelationship of a bunch of tiny details.

in CZA case-- several years ago i said i hought a few bird houses would be nice to have--- AND I GOT  'EM  - 49 OF THEM--  beautiful bird houses.----.. so we put them up... and birds moved in.. procreating happily in the new found living accomodations... which were accidently  created by my fascination with intricate bird houses..  then... lust...( as  someone told me it says in the bible...)  will be the ruination of  the world....  all this procreating has meant  the bird hice (plural  of  house) we had provicded was not enough and many moved into the barn/kennel  -- now there are not enough mnosquitos to keep their hunger under control and they have to move to  sneakiing into the equine grain... as tehy do... they "DO"  leaving a white material   which drips and slides into the food making it  distasteful to pockets. when she does not finish her food, people don't give her any more.. COULD BE.... she is thin because i said i liked bird hice?????

WE HAD VERY FEW FLYS    THEN I NOTICED WE HAD ALOT OF BIRDS WALKING AROUND THE YARD WHO WERE HAVING TROUBLE FLYING...   I STOPPED USING IT AND THE BIRDS BECAME AIRBORN AGAIN.. ( AND I THINK THE STUFF IS OFF THE MARKET NOW)

POCKETS WILL EAT CARROTS TOO--- SO WE ARE WORKING ON HAND FEED ING HER THOSE- anyone walikng by her is welcome to breakj up a carrot and give it oto her  i think the carrot supply is in the 55 gal drum of horse food to hide it from mo.

GOOD MORNING ALL! FINN IS SUCH A GOOD TRAVELER. HE DOESN'T USUALLY RIDE IN THE SEAT NEXT TO EVE BUT IT WAS A NICE COMFORT FOR HER TO HAVE HIM WITH HER FOR A BIT OF THE TRIP. HE IS SUCH A GOOD TRAVELER. IN APRIL WAS HIS FIRST TRIP HERE AND I COULD TELL HE WAS NERVOUS. HE WAS HESITANT ABOUT EATING AND POTTYING ETC BUT THIS TRIP HE'S AN OLD PRO. HE IS QUITE COMFORTABLE HERE ALREADY AND NO HESITATIONS! IT'S AMAZING TO ME WHAT A GREAT MEMORY DOGS HAVE! JUST LIKE CARLENE AND THE TRAINERS TOLD US. EXPOSURE EXPOSURE TAKE HIM PLACES.

I MEANT TO POST SOMETHING AT THEIR 6 MOS. ANNIVERSARY ABOUT HOW COOL IT IS THAT FINN JUST FITS RIGHT IN NOW.
