dec 7 2014
i am keeping up with the addressing of envelopes for the people who are giving the $10 chicken brick number to their friends and relatives..  it is a pretty funny concept--- but a good one... and helpful to some....-- and it will be from the "draw " on jan 4th ----- 2015  !!! would you believe it... !!!  where did 2014 go?
as a matter of fact i am still reeling from worrying about computers going from 1999 to 2000..
little did i know that was no problem-- and the computers had a whole new bunch of screwups planned for us having nothing to do with the date.  ...
......and then they invented wireless printers...

ahhhh the creativity of it all...

***************
today schedule?

i am told colleen is giving a training demo at 10:30 in the arena-- which would be online if all cameras are functioning... and they usually are.

largest problem is to get that huge chair in to the  arena  -- not easy because it will not go down the alleyway so we will have to bring it across the flat field-- and i worry about lifting it  up... it is built to take pressure/weight from top down--- not lift up-- or even worse tip sideways-- i hope jack is here to help--- i can help from the heated seat of the tractor.....

i have the feeling it would be good to tie it together for support--- this is where the rope with a ring comes in so handy... you can  pull tension and then tie it with a ring...

love those ropes with rings---leashes, horse halters, tie gates shut, mend fences, tie trash on trailers, hold things down, hold things up... a  virtual plethora of possibilities.

but we need to get the chair in the arena before santa arrives at 1pm--  and this is the real santa if ever there is one... even in shorts and t shirt in july, he is santa.  red jeep with license plate  ST.NICK.   He is a friend of camera mark's.

this is a shatupon sunday so all that will happen around 2pm-  3pm......

i am told food will be located in the training room ---

2 possible applicants are coming  between 1 and 4

nice day but cold???  i wonder if my new golf cart will make it across the field into the arena????  it should...  and it is red--- a santa mobile???

and things like  that...

Just a Lydia update..a pic I had taken Thanksgiving week with the beautiful snow and sporting her wonderful custom made coat made by RD RoseDoggy
Lydia is doing fantastic! She has had a couple new exposures (with me) which she has done well with.
One was taking her to a groomer to have a bath and manicure..They called it the "Bumper to Bumper" ..Basically a nice bath, ears cleaned and nails cut..She didn't particularly "love it", but did settle down in the tub when they turned it onto massage mode..Her tail came out from between her legs at that time, which she must of discovered hey that feels kind of nice..LOL..She "tolerated" her nails being cut, but was glad it was over..Her ears she loves when I clean them so that didn't bother her..I will try to do it myself next time, we will see how that goes, as they don't need baths too often, they do need their nails done..We spent the next two weeks smelling her as she smelled so yummy!! Even the boys were doing it!!..LOL..
The other thing was to go through a medal detector with a sheriff standing on the other side. I took her vest off and sent it through the scanner with my pocketbook..Lydia and I walked through toward the sheriff..He was fit and of short stature, she walked right up to him and sniffed his chin..LOL..He lifted his chin higher..and of course I pulled her back a bit, he said, "I know I'm not suppose to touch them"..HA..I thought it was funny..But he did compliment on how well behaved and beautiful she was despite the chin sniff she got in there..lol..
We went for a short walk this morning in the rain. She wore her coat which kept her dry which was nice...We didn't stay out too long but was enough to satisfy her..She looks forward to that walk in the morning..
We went to lunch today at a new to her place, she does amazing with that..Such a good girl! I bring her blanket and she lays on it. When we walked to the area, there was a large group of people (adults and children) sitting at a table..one young boy was away from the table walking on the sill of the large windows..When we came in, the Mom got up and came over and told him he had to come back to the table..Lydia just looked at him..The Mom stood back a distance and explained to her boy that that was a service dog, and the sign said "Working dog do not pet" and that means you can't touch it..My cousin spoke up and said not very many people would take the time and explain that to their kids. I said yes, you are right, and thank you very much for doing that..
The boy inched closer and Lydia just watched him with her head down on her blanket..She never moved, the Dad eventually got up and came and brought the boy back to their table, and that was that..
She has saved me from falling several times with the ice we had had..Those split second reactions she has are amazing responding to a trip or slip..She gets so many compliments around town and she makes me so very proud..She is such a good girl..
<3 Annette and Lydia :)

******************2 GOOD COPY AND PASTE'S  SO I WILL GET AT THE ENVELOPE JOB...*************
"Today's post is about George. Where he is from, and how he helps Bella. George is a Great Dane from Ipswich Ma. He comes from a great farm up there that trains Great Danes to help those with mobility impairments.
Service Dog Project (SDP) is a non profit that has donated over 70 Great Danes as service dogs for those who have severe balance or mobility limitations. All there dogs are trained to specific needs to the recipient. They also don't pick your dog they let the dog pick you. So in Bella's case she has been playing with George for months before he had his first sleep over.
The benefit of the dog picking the person is that the dog will want to do his job and be happy about it. Once the dog has picked their partner then more specific training can be done. They do all the training there. In Bella's case after we have him for the weekend we let the trainers know what George does good or not so good at and then they can work on that during the week.
George is only 14 months so he is still young and learning. He is going to start to go to school or at least visit a school to see how he does as part of his training for when he will go to school with Bella. Right now we pick him up Friday night through Monday morning and then Tuesday night through Thursday morning. This way he is with Bella on the weekend and again for her weekly infusions. It's a lot of driving (40 min each way) but well worth it.

When Bella has George by her side she can leave the crutches behind. She hates using them so having George has been perfect. With morquio syndrome her bones developed different and she has foot, knee, hip and back problems. Also her wrists are almost locked in a straight position with no flexion backwards so that makes crutches difficult. Another plus to having a George by her side. As of now we don't know when George will be with Bella full time. Right now with him not going to school makes it hard. Even though he can go to work with me it would mean more bonding time with me and he needs to stay tightly bonded to Bella.

For any who are looking for a great place to make donations and support Bella and George try checking out
www.servicedogproject.org. If anyone has questions on Bella or George feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer! Thank you to all who have loved us. Old and new

Dear Carlene,
I'm typing this email from the Pacific Northwest with Sir Thomas asleep at my feet. The 'asleep' part is no surprise: Tommy is an excellent sleeper.
What he also excelled at was guiding me through the terminal when my meds schedule didn't coincide with the flight schedule. There's a 'must rush' vibe in any airport -- people whiz by, in front, across -- but though Tommy sensed the buzz and wanted to keep up with it, he didn't. He walked slowly with me.
Excellent was also the word passengers around us used to describe his behavior on our 6-hour flight. One woman said she'd fidgeted way more than he did. The flight attendants beamed at him every timr they passed by our row.
I remember his first flight when everything was scary - especially the security check with all those men in uniform eyeing him. While the security part is still a bit overwhelming, the surprising part to me was all that he remembered from previous travel.
This was by far his longest flight, but he knew just what to do, just what was expected of him. He was excellent.

To all the new SDP recipients who aren’t sure about a new experience, especially a stressful one like travel, go ahead with it. Let them learn. The first time may not be perfect, but these wonderful animals will excel.

53 BRICKS TO GO.... WE WILL MAKE IT !!-- IT IS EVEN DANM GOOD RIGHT WHERE WE ARE...

MEGAN MUST HAVE ARRIVED IN FLORIDA WITH KARMA'S RELIEF-- I DIDN'T HEAR OF A PLANE CRASH-- OR SERVICE DOG DISRUPTION...

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE NEW... KARMA WAS STRUCK BY A CAR IN A GATED COMMUNITY BY A WOMAN SMOKING A CIGARETTE ( I THINK IT WAS) ANY WAY KARMA HAS HAD MONTHS OF PT ETC-- AND IS DOING VERY WELL, BUT UNDERSTANDABLY SHE IS AFRAID OF TRAFFIC.

JIM AND ANN ARE SNOWBIRDS SO THEY WILL BE BACK WITH HER OVER THE SUMMER- AND ANN COMES TO THE FARM OFTEN...
*************LARGEST OTHER NEWS IS-- I HAVE RECIEVED A BIGGGG BUNCH OF REQUESTS TO HAVE THIS DAILY DOGGIE SENT TO EVERYONE'S INBOX--- THAT I AM GOING TO TRY AND LET CONSTANT CONTACT DO IT FOR M E... BESIDES AOL WILL NOT LET ME SEND OUT SO MANY--- THAT BECAME A PROBLEM BEFORE SO WHAT I AM GOING TO DO IS GIVE THEM THE EMAIL ADDRESSES OF BRICK BUYERS-- AND SEE IF THAT WORKS--- THEY DO NOT SHARE/OR SELL EMAIL ADDRESSES- AND THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO CHECK FOR DUPLICATES-- AND UNSUBSCRIBE IF ANYONE PREFERS.

BESIDES SHEILA HAS OFFERED TO BABY SIT THAT PROJECT -- SO TO MORROW SHE WILL LEAVE FOR FLORIDA WITH ONE OF THOSE BIC LIGHTER DATA STORAGE THINGS SO ALL THAT TIME SHE SAVES BY NOT SHOVELING SNOW AND CHIPPING OUT FROZEN WATER BUCKETS CAN BE USED TO BENEFIT THE PROJECT.
WE HAVE 3 YEARS OF BB IN THE FILE--- IN A SORTABLE FASHION--WHICH IS VERY INTERESTING-- THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE STARTED DONATING IN SEPT/OCTOBER OF THIS YEAR... I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY OF THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE DD... SO WE WILL TRY..

I AM TOLD----THE LAST COUPLE DD'S HAVE BEEN BACK TO THEIR OLD STANDARD.... WHEN I WAS SICK, THE DD WAS PRETTY DRAB... THANK HEAVENS FOR THE COPY /PRINT TO BAIL ME OUT.

*************
NOW FOR THE SLIP/SLIDE PREPARATION PROJECT-- I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE GROUND BETWEEN THE DECK AND THE DRIVEWAY... IT IS NOT STEEP/ BUT JUST HAS A VERY ODD SLOPE WHICH MAKES NOT ONLY PEOPLE FALL IF AT ALL ICY, BUT CARS/ GOLF CARTS/ AND EVEN THE TRACTOR TURN SIDEWAYS AND SLIDE INTO THE TREE. --
TO HELP THE FOOT TRAFFIC WE HAVE STRUNG HEAVY COTTON ROPE ALONG THE BUILDING TO ?RAPELL? DOWN TO THE DRIVEWAY.

I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS THAT TURNED THE TRACTOR SIDEWAYS LAST WEEK- BUT I WAS HELPLESS--- AND ONCE INTO T E TREE. YOU NEED TO GO UPHILL TO TRY AND GET ROUND IT- AND THAT TOO IS A CHALLENGE 4 WH DRIVE OR NOT. IT JUST PLAIN IS NOT A NORMAL TYPE PROBLEM.

SANDING BECOMES MANDATORY AROUND HERE- AND USUALLY THE TOPSFIELD TRUCK WILL SWING IN IF WE CRY... I THOUGHT OF HAVING A PILE OF SAND DELIVERED- THAT IS NO PROBLEM---- IF YOU HAVE A SAND SHED-- OTHERWISE I COULD SEE A 2 TON BLOCK OF FROZEN SAND... SO I PRICED BAGGED SAND AT LOWES $2.50 FOR 80 POUNDS OF BAGGED...-- THAT MAY BE THE BEST $25 I EVER SPENT. IT IS NOW DISTRIBUTED AROUND-- READY TO SPREAD..

WE HAVE AN APPLICANT COMING TODAY TO HOPEFULLY WORK WITH LARZ...

AND WITHOUT GOING INTO ALOT OF DETAILS DONNA HAS A JOB FOR HUGO- AND HE SEEMS TO BE WORKING INTO IT VERY NICELY..
MARIAH WAS THRILLED TO BE BACK IN THE HOUSE. BENTYLY WAS A WELCOMING COMMITTEE OF ONE, BUT SHE WANTED NO PART OF HIM.. ESPECIALLY THAT PART... SO SHE IS OUT OF HEAT.

BUSY DAY AHEAD..

Carlene,
Just checking in with you to let you know Arrow is still doing great, even after six years of loyal service to me. We had a fairly typical day yesterday. It started off at a club were I met with eighteen other women. We sat in chairs in a large circle and Arrow picked a spot in the middle and slept for the majority of the meeting. It is a group I meet with once a month, and we call him our mascot.
Next we went to the Cancer Center where I get an IV infusion of a steroid every three months. It helps me with my Multiple Sclerosis. Arrow knows the routine, and slept on his blanket the whole time, except when nurses came in to pet him and rave about what a good boy he is.
Next we ran some errands, first to the library then to the Fed Ex store. We got the typical oos and ahhs, that's a big dog, he's beautiful, if you had a saddle you could ride him, how much does he weigh, that's the biggest dog I've ever seen and what's his name comments that we get whenever we go out.
It is a constant pleasure to have him in public. He's such a big help with my balance. I always have confidence walking with him, especially when I go down curbs or stairs. His calm demeanor impresses everyone we see.

I love how he brings smiles to people's faces, especially when we are in the Cancer center and he brightens the days of the patients there.
Thank all of you who work and volunteer at SDP for my wonderful dog, and for the work you do to train more so people like me can have more joyful lives.

i have good news and annoying news

the good news is -- i now have my cell phone in a pocket with in 6 inches of my ear
the bad/annoying news is i now look like one of the beverly hillbillies in a set of overalls that weigh 932 pounds...
it is my latest attempt to foil the "where did l leave my xxxx" problem.. these overalls have pockets galore..

i suppose--- being a student of mother nature, we could look at  several aging processes as mother nature's way of coping.
  1.    you can't hear 1/2 of what is being said?  you probably shouldn't  pay any attention to  1/2 what is said  anyway
  2.   where did i leave my  xxxxxx  is mommy natures way of saying "time to exercise those ailing joints"
  3.  sense  of smell is diminished--  we don't need to go there
4/  with the sense of smell goes the  taste  buds.. that'll keep you from gaining weight... maybe
  5.  can't chew?  there could be a classic advertisement  "depend on ensure"   but i bet they wouldn't run         that.
 6.  poor eyesight makes newspapers hard to read-?   so watch CNN
     7.  short term memory shot?  that will keep you from figuring out  that if CNN has no news  they just put           on year old re runs.....  same news--- ?? so whaaa happened about   all that 24 hour coverage about         the airplane no one could find???

i had  great hopes for cnn when i heard they have some reality show wiht the dirty jobs guy...

and hardy a day goes by when i don't wish the mythbusters  were still around...   they had some good shows  ---like the example of exactly how far the sneezed spray really goes......  but then they got too enthuastic about blowing things up and you couldn't tell their show from the regular news.
************
we had another huge mailing--- nice lady in the big  uspo store---   when faced with 5 cartons of calendars....quietly asked why we didn't go to the  ipswich  po.
never occurred to me--- i may technically live in ipswich, but  the "town" is miles  away.
************
while sitting there an 11 year old boy was kind enough to explain my cell phone to me--  he couod poke at it and make it do things i never knew about..  he loves dogs and decided he was going to ride his biike to our house (7 miles)--- in my effort to stay away from the negatives ... like you can't do that--- i said "wonderful-- get another  bike out so your mother can come with you"  at which point the mother-- who was holding her second boy by the hood of his sweatshirt, shot me a glance i wish i had photographed.
****
interestingly opal was lying  with sheila at the counter.. and was terrified of those 2 boys-- i was very glad sheila  noticed and quietly took opal by the jowls---  wherever you go with whatever dog you have...  you  have to listen to what the dog is telling you.. opal has no medical degree that i know of, but she spotted ADD from 20 feet away- and wanted no part of it.
****************
she may not know it yet, but  sheila has volunteered to manage the media-- doggie daily  mailing mostly....   because of her creativity   other things may happen via the internet...

problem at hand is we have had sooooo many requests   for the dd to be delivered to the emails  that  i cannot cope-- and she said she could do that even  from the wilds of florida...  apparently all that time she saves from having to shovel snow she can put to good use..  and i am overwhelmed-- mostly becaus e i basically do not understand  facing books and related things.

i have been very protective of our lists of supporters and  we must continue to guard against  that sort of thingas e grow--
she  ought to be better at it than i am - and have more time while she sits on the beach...

sometime very soon the people who have been getting it  off the web, may get it delivered to their inbox and have an "unsubscribee " deal at the bottom.

interesting--- we have 1500ish names on  the DD list and only one unsubscribed.

( if i read teh reports corredtly..)

how frightening is that !!!
************

in this preparation for winter... another volunteer is going to  stay in touhc with our recipients and see if we can't get more regular reports to include intheis dd.
because noting i write is more interesting than having one of our dogs help someone get out and get going.

************
all this orgaiization will help
with janine taking over the adi accreditation..

we are actually very well organized

bless those steady volunteers..
***********
speaking of that--  feeding the thursday bunch has become a bit of traditioon-- actually feeding the whole tribe is sometimes a monumental project--- we can live on pizza and chinese food just so long-- and a meal of real food is wonderful ---    so be it.. and nw that we hve refrgeration and an oven, roasting stuff has proven a nice idea...

 the house smells sooooo nice.

santa is expected here sunday at 1pm.... and this is a real santa if ever there was one....

258   BRICKS TO GO--- LOVE ALL THOSE NEW NAMES  !!!!

SPEAKING OF SLVER THREADS AMONG THE GOLD..... IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET MY HAIR FLATTENED DOWN AFTER YESTERDAY'S MAIL CALL.    IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE HAD GLUED STEEL WOOL TO MY HEAD.  AND I WAS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE EARLENE, BUT I REQALLY LOOKED LIKE I'D BEEN STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.

SOMEONE ASKED WHAT WAS THE LAST TIME I HAD BEEN TO A BEAUTY SALON -- IT MUST HAVE BEEN FOR MY SISTER'S WEDDING  - BACK WHEN  I WAS COLLEGE ??1957,8 ???

AMAZING PART..... SHELIA AND I WERE IN DANVERS MASS- AND THERE WERE A HALF DOZEN HAIRDRESSERS-- SHE CALLED ONE  at random  AND MADE AN APPOINTTMENT TO HAVE ME DONE UP FOR MAIL  CALL--  WE GOT THERE AND THERE WAS JANINE'S BOOK  DOGS, DONKEYS AND CIRCUS PERFORMERS-- An autographed copy yet....!

SO I GOT FLUFFED... BIG TIME... I THINK IT WAS CAUSED BECAUSE I ONCE CALLED SHEILA MY "FLUFFY HAIRED FRIEND"

AT  ANY RATE --- ON TO THE NEXT..
************
SO LAST NIGHT I COULD NOT SLEEP-- PER USUAL-- AND TURNED ON CNN HOPING TO CATCH THE NEW MIKE  XXXXX SHOW ( DIRTY JOBS GUY)- NO LUCK

BUT I DID RUN INTO AN INTERVEIW OF CHARLES BARKLEY ( I THINK)  AND I WAS IMPRESSED
I HAVEN'T A CLUE WHO HE IS -- OR IF HE IS RUNNING FOR ANYTHING- BUT HE KEPT QUOTING HIS GRANDMOTHER--  AT 1:30 AM I MAY HAVE BEEN MORE IMPRESSIONABLE THAN NORMALLY  BUT ONE STUCK--" JUST BECAUSE HE IS BLACK DOES NOT MEAN HE IS WRONG AND JUST BECAUSE HE IS WHITE DOES NOT MEAN HE IS RIGHT."-- WHICH THEN TURNED INTO "JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE REPUBLICANS  DOES NOT.... ETC....."

I PREFER TO REMAIN APOLITICAL-  BUT I COULD NOT HELP ADMIRING HIS GRANDMOTHER-- AND THEN  WONDERED WHY GRANDMA   WAS SUCH AN INFLUENCE IN HIS LIFE--- MORE THAN GRANDPA???   WHICH GOT ME TO THIINKING........ALWAYS TROUBLE.

WHY DID HIS FAMILY STRUCTURE GO BACK TO GRANDMA-- WHERE WAS MOM AND DAD...?
..I WONDERED IF  IT WAS A CASE OF MOM  GOING  BACK TO WORK -SO GRANDMA FILLS IN ON THE HOME FRONT...AS IS SOOOO OFTEN THE CASE NOW.... WITH EARLENE'S  HAIRDOO-  I SAW HER STAYING HOME TO CARE FOR THE GRANDCHILD INSTEAD OF CHAOS.. DAMMIT

WHICH GOT ME GOING ON   BROADWAY MISIC   ---RELIGION, ---THE AKC AND DNA.  IN ABOUT THAT ORDER .  IT IS A THIN LINE....

ONE OF OUR BEST WORKERS IS HAVING A BABY IN FEB- SO OF COURSE HAD TO QUIT THE JOB SHE LOVED-- AND WAS GOOD AT.   DAMMIT----

  WHICH GOT ME TO....
THE BROADWAY MUSICAL LINE.. "REMEMBER IT IS HE WHO HAS THE FUN AND THEE THE BABY"...

WHICH GOT ME AIMED AT
OLDTYME RELIGION WHICH  OUTLAWED DIVORCE ENTIRELY---TRIED FOR MANY  YEARS TO  KEEP FATHERS AND MOTHERS BOTH RAISING THIER CHILDREN... AND WHEN THAT  DIDN'T WORK  THE FATHERS WERE ALLOWED ---FOR A LONG TIME --TO WANDER OFF--- SCOTT FREE...

THEN CHILD SUPPORT CAME INTO OUR LEGAL TERMONOLOGY- AND THAT IS BETTER THAN NOTHING... BUT....

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF  THE PATERNITY OF EVERY CHILD BORN IN THE US WAS DETERMINED AT BIRTH-- BY  DNA  AND BY LAW--- AND THE SIRE WAS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THAT CHILD UNTIL 18 YEARS OLD.  AS THE MOTHER OFTEN DOES.

THE DNA MAKES IT POSSIBLE-- EVEN IN THE MOST EXTREME CASES---

THE PERCENTAGE OF MALES IN CONGRESS WOULD NEVER GO FOR   IT...

AND......IT WOULD  IN A FEW  CASES BE VERY  INTERESTING....
LIKE....UPSETTING TO A MARRIAGE...
OR...IT WOULD PUT A DAMPER ON THE WOMAN WHO HAS  8 CHILDREN AND SAYS " THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME FATHER IN HEAVEN"

OR   I WOULD HAVE A CURE FOR THE GUY WHO HAS 8 KIDS WITH 6 DIFFERENT WOMEN..
I HAVE BEEN A FARMER TOO LONG TO PUT UP WITH A MALE ANIMAL THAT IS OUT OF CONTROL...

***********
THERE ARE NATURAL CURES FOR ALOT OF PROBLEMS...  I WAS JUST MADE AWARE OF THE  DIFFERENCE IN THE IRAQ WAR BETWEEN PLANTING TIME AND GROWING. WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT-- EATING OR FIGHTING?

AND  IS THERE A  RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN  WELL BEHAVED YANKEE CHILDREN  AND STONE WALLS..???  NO HYPERACTIVE  HERE-- GO ROLL ROCKS INTO A LINE IN  THE WOODS.

WOW...  A NICE CUT AND PASTE TO BAIL ME OUT... I HAVE ALOT OF FISH TO FRY TODAY--

IT IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHAT I WAS TALKNG ABOUT YESTERDAY.. GEORGE AND BELLA JUST CLICKED.. AND ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME TOGETHER...
THERE IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM BECAUSE HE IS NOT READY TO GO TO SCHOOL WITH HER YET-- ONLY BECAUSE THE KIDS IN THAT SCHOOL WILL LOOK LIKE QA BUNCH OF RAVING MANIACS -- SO BEFORE WE LET HIM GO WITH HER, HE NEEDS TO GO TO SCHOOL WITH MEGAN OR ME TO SIT AND LOOK IT OVER... AT THE MOMENT, HE COMES HERE MON TO FRIDAY AND GOES HOME WITH HER ON FRIDAY...

I ASKED BELLA' S MOTHER IF THEY COULDN'T COME TAKE GEORGE OUT TO DINNER SOMETIME DURING THE WEEK SO HE DOESN'T GET DISCOURAGED ABOUT NOT SEEING BELLA

..Hi Carlene
,Thank you so much for letting George stay with me for my school vacation. We had so much fun together. On Wednesday he came with me and my dad to my infusion at Childrens Hospital. We had so much fun. He would lay down then once in a while he would get up to come check on me and make sure I was okay.

My physical therapist was very impressed with George. She likes that when I have George with me it makes me walk more instead of swinging on my crutches.

After my infusion we went to the mall to get new friends phones and everyone at the store was impressed at how well he behaved and at how big he was. When we got home it was snowing.

On Thursday we played in the snow. He can run pretty fast and he loved to eat the snow. Friday we went to work with mom and I was teaching George how to play hide and seek. Somehow he always got me. Then after work we went to LLBean to get new snow boots. We had to go in the elevator so many times, but he did good every time. Everyone wanted to Pet him.
Saturday some of my friends came over to play. Every time I was laying in the snow George ran over to check on me. George slept with me every night. He is so warm and fuzzy. Today I felt sad that he left and went back to Crazy Acres. I can't wait to see him again on Friday night.
 Thank you again
Love Bella and family.

AND THE BIG STATEMENT OF TH E DOCTORS- WHICH WE HAVE HEARD BEFORE, USING A DOG MEANS THE KIDS USE THEIR MUSCLES MORE NORMALLY.. HUNTER HAS AVOIDED 2 ROUNDS OF SURGERY SO FAR BECAUSE HIS THIGH MUSCLES ARE DEVELOPING.. SOMETHING THE DOCTORS DID NOT EXPECT- AND THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS MOVEMENT WITH WENDY..

.NOW BELLA'S PHYSICIANS ARE SAYING THE SAME THING.

HAPPY DAZE---
janine completely took the acreditation project home with her...
if she can not please them, no one can..  she teaches business kind of stuff at a college level.
she agrees with me on the mandatory health records-- not only useless, but illegal ---hippa type illegal.

i do think we are fighting a significant yellow lab / golden retriever  bias-- danes are stupid ---mentality.
it is based mostly on someone throwing a yellow tennis ball, and having the dane just watch it and look at them with a "why did y ou do that  look".
people have to be taught about danes.. i know that dane pup is saying "i love my person dearly ---but i can't understand  -- why  they throw the ball, then go pick it up and do it again...   "

further proof of the difference...  you can teach a golden retriever to open the icebox and get you a beer, but you better not teach a dane to do it because after all is quiet, the dane would think "when i got that beer, there was a left over roast beef on the second shelf.. aren't i lucky that they taught me to open the door."

they use their knowledge differently-- they do not do tricks--- when asked to get the basket, a golden   would run over... pick it up and bring it to you immediately.......bailey getting the basket??? she never hops to the chore... she is performing and loves the drama-  center stage....- she will get a drink.. she will wander past the basket and turn and look-- "?i know danm well what i am supposed to do.... but how many times can i get these people to say "get the basket" before i pick it up and they cheer"

goldens just do not think like that.   and when you are handling a dane , you better re-adjust your thinking.  so there are plenty of times when a golden is better for a service dog, there are other times when there is no substitute for the savvy you get with a dane.

i really can not pretend we have taught our dogs to do the majority of things they do - how could we?
" i better go get  susan, her husband has fallen  and is stuck under the sink" is not something we would teach....
" i will just walk at an angle because his legs flip sideways in a very unusual way"
" those people should not be asleep when that old lady fell downstairs and is not getting up"
"don't tell me to get off your bed and go back to sleep- there is a pretty funny smell- and i don't understand" ( house  fire)

most dog people are convinced that the breed of dog they have is the brightest..
first of all-- i have handled about all the breeds there are in the years of animal episodes.
and i am not saying danes are the smartest... i am saying they think differently-

i have tried to figure who i consider the smartest and it always boils down to  which dog  has  best  learned to communicate with  someone... and will concentrate on that communication.
i know connie the corgi was well up there-  we did some amazing commercials with her   including a video on recycling where she had to pick up bottle, paper, and can   and put it in the correct trash bin- and she did it with no break in the film......

she is also the one... in a houghin mifflin book commercial that bit right thru my thumb because i tried to pick her up and move her instead  of asking her to move over..
she had rules- she wore no collar-- if you put one on her, she would sulk  and not move.--.. kind of like bailey with the sauntering around center stage.

if they are supposed to listen to you, you better be prepared to listen to them.
 (THAT IS A TRAINING GEM , I N CASE YOU DID'T NOTICE)

chicken bricks
400 left --- we are going to make it  -- i have about 50 yet to enter here  from people adding chicken bricks to a calendar order...-- i will try and do that later today
this morning i am to work with matt ( memsaic guy) to make it possible to add  one dollar  donation to a brick  if you are buying it  as a $10 gift for someone else-- which i will notice amid all the 10,20,30 's  ---the 11, 21, 31 will stick out.  i will then go to the comment  area and get the address to send  a card to.. and i will be the only one to be able to access that address.
we made up cute bright orange cards to  explain  how the Shatupon Society  works...

getting that board sold out means i can sleep better...

megan tells me she is better--- i still think she should do inside things and not push it for a while..
************
i just noticed  i forgot to put on blue jeans over the long underwear-- i am certainly glad i didn't decide to go to the diner for breakfast.
****************
theresa is coming today  for another boost on getting calendars out-- maybe i can go sit at the p.o while they check each one in--- i will take bentley and a pocket full of poker chips
