September 17, 2012

i have already had 3 long emails to type-- and read over because of my faulty ssss key--- i mut solve that one today--- see?? mut

along with solving the camera-- it is supposed to rain tomorrow  and explore.com is about to learn danes fear the rainmaster as an alpha being   the pups will all sit in a row inside and wonder where all that wet stuff is coming from.

it will help if i can get the camera of my golf cart set up in the arena..
it would not be all puppies--- but a lot of action...

that camera has a lot of buttons  which go to nebraska ( or wherever)

i don't know if that will mean another photo to click on ... or if that camera would become the puppy hill one for the day???

speaking of distance  greg yesterday was on the phone talking to his mother in england and  she could see him thru the puppy hill camera..  blows my mind..

course a lot of thing do.

lots of people at stew... it was fun  and 8-10 dog loose with no problem   lulu is coming along with strangers... almost a normal dog now...

a negative of the day... maria called-- heidi was bleeding internally- a sign of earlichia - a tick born disease that ruins the clotting..
eyes more than  bloodshot- saliva red--  we have seen this once before  donna's dog-- we tried everything with donna's dog-- tranfusions and the works to no avail-- so george put  heidi  to sleep quietly  in the back of the van and paul dug a grave in the  A field.

lesson ? do not take any unusual bleeding  casually- similar to lyme--those ticks are everywhere-  an unusual bleeding has to be in the category of bloat
run to the vet--- and i don't often recommend that

camera time

Sunday mayhem

yet to be resolved...
it is appleton farm,s   family day-  a mary job--and  the durango has no brakes ( just repaired too)

if we can not make it --- we can't---  janine said we might borrow her tenant's truck----she will drive it?? and who is going??  megan??
**********
live puppy cam www.explore.org    click on the black dane pup for the outside camera (8am to 5pm)  and the blue pup for the inside camera
everyone is having a great time with it...  i can't list the number of people who have it running full time at their work .

keeping up with the comments has not yet been a problem--   i group the topics about every hour.
right at the moment  i think the pups must be on the loft-- because  the camera does not show any
i would go look except that would start the rest barking.

megan took one  pup and 3 other to jades fundraiser- and we had 2 comments "why is one missing?? is that the one that was breathing  hard last night?  is she sick?  why are there so many flies-  looks like you could use a  sticky fly tape...

heaven help us the day a flea crawls across a pup's belly while they are asleep-  thsee cameras would show it for sure.

apparently jades fundraiser went well-- the chickens poo'ed on schedule. i wish i could have gone-- but there was just too much going on--

including a guy for an interview about a dog..... and major construction in the deagle house...  it is weather proof now... with the sshingle going on now....and all this camera questions-- i do not seem to be able to answer fvrom my cell

now... the old laptop computer is in the t tent on top of the fridge in with the glue gun.  that is a heck of a note-- we can sit  in there and watch the pups instead of walking 100 feet.  progress????.

***************
typical Sunday stew day...
charlie ( with steve) is here
i did get the cut up tree out of the flat field-- and up by the arena for easier removal to bud1's wood processing area.

i don't know if we have meat to cut-- i lost track of that project...

we need a lot of " bend and pick up.."  . there are pieces of coffee cups etc that dogs have chewed ( or i have run over with the mower) tiny pieces that make the place look sooooo messy.... have a bag and go at it.
i am told Colby will be trundling manure out to the compost pile today- park well out of the way....

and i will be playing with the camera today-  i think the object is to tape short interviews for them to use elsewhere-- not live--
i dunno

September 13, 2012

or is it daily doggie??? for those of you who sort on subjects-- i sometimes reversee those-- bless that dyslexia stuff.

*****

i will further my/our camera education today-- i can get the camera to work- now i need to contact them for advice on... what to film..(mary,ginney,, adults playfighting?)

.... is it a case of short clips or should i let it run on mary grazing while i cut beef???

i need to take battery usage more seriously-- when it says 240 minutes-- 240 is a lovely big number- but being a math major, i should have realized that is only 1/2 a day.

the buttons on this camera wifi deal could not be smaller- i calibrated one switch at 1/16th of an inch.... ( me--- who can not hit the 1/2 inch keyboard keys right)

it is fun...

****
i did learn yeterday that the sign on the gate about live cameras....went unnoticed.

so now.... i will put up a sign saying "READTHAT %&^& SIGN" maybe that will cause them to look.
TWO CARLOADS OF GRAde school kids arrived to play with the pups- not a totally bad idea-- it does get the pups more used to kids... but.. somebody has to stay with a bunch like that --- the mothers were there-- and there was no accident-- but the mothers were not focused on the potential problem of teasing a pup into playing tug of war with a short toy. As the pup realizes she has to snap quickly to latch onto the toy--her accuracy could be a problem-- "Lord those teeth are so sharp and my hand is so small" or something like that.....
then as i mentioned to th emothers about the sign on the gate that they had not read----one of the kids heard me and began to dance in front of the camera and could not be persuaded to stop.
we learn...
*********
i sent a bunch of one liners about dane pups to courtney to use somehow-- i am... just now reminded --first thing when you get up in the morning-- you let them out to empty their bladders-- then you give them a small quantity of food/milk bone sso they don't throw up yellow foam. .. danes do not like an empty stomach...
-------*i bet she wouldn't use that one. .... it took me 1789 rolls of paper towels to figure that out.
if any of you remember any pequiliar gems i have written.. please send them to me..

Carlene,
I have sent several email updates, but have been struggling with technology and was not sure if they are being received.
DiDi is doing great, traveled well by car to Idaho and flew home without incident. She has made a seamless transition back into the school atmosphere and schedule.

short doggie day--

i am told we will try and get the cameras live today- i am not sure how to access them yet-- it will be somewhere between explore.org and dog bless you live puppy cams off facebook ?? keep looking

in the meantime i have to figure out the roving camera on my golf cart..

i know the part about charging the batteries and attaching it to the cart-- megan knows about the wireless part-- and theresa knows things like depth of focus ( if it needs it) so we should manage something

the puppy cameras are in place and may be turned on anytime today

remember they are LA-- 3 hours behind us... so we have a few minutes... for last minute pick ups...

which i will now do....

September 7, 2012

long daily doggie- thanks to the reports

THE TEAL REPORT.. AND MY COMMENTS...
hi--
Teal did O.K. today at school.
great progress sounds like if we can just get thru another week at school they will be fine
He was a little scared going into the school due to the buses. He felt he had to always look behind him.I have noticed that about him.
lets rethink this -- there is a fact... he acted a little scared going into the school... that is a fact----
as to why,... it bothers me for you to assume what is sometimes the obvious- at the exclusion of the possible..
could be the busses-- could be his tail got pinched IN  THE SCHool door- could be the traffic monitor's waving hands and yelling at the kids surprised him
,or anybody using a whistle??
with animals do not jump to exclusions ( boy is that a true typo----  somebody remind me to use that more often.)
It seems he always needs to know what's behind him.
I think he thinks something is going to creep up behind him.
that tail pinch concept??? or a shopping cart while we were training at costo???
Anyway, he froze after wh got in the door.
dropping to the floor was teal's solution to anything which was too confusing.. that is a "GIVE ME A MINUTE TO COLLECT MY THOUGHTS.."
We got him moving again after a brief moment but he was moving fast until we got to Jocelyn's locker.
THAT IS MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN IT SEEMS-- HE WAS BETTER THEN WAS PROBABLY DUE TO "HERE STARTS A FAMILIAR SEQUENCE"
Then he was fine. I did get a call stating that there was a fire drill today. Teal got right up to exit, but he was moving pretty fast with the crowd and Jocelyn fell and let go of Teal. She said he didn't stop , but she called him and he went right back for her!!
BEAUTIFUL -- only problem is he is matching strides with the group of kids.. not jocelyn- and ends up going too fast.- she needs to do the one step  in a group of kids so he matches her-- not the group.
Teal did very well except he won't budge past the the curb.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS ABOUT
I was told that is a possible danger and it would be worked on.
DON'T LET ANYONE GO THAT ROAD...POINT OUT HE IS TAUGHT TO STOP AT CURBS--THEN POINT OUT MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE A HANDICAPPED RAMP AT THAT SPOT- put ball in other court...
I think I will ask the fire department to go back to the school with us and practice with him making sure he gets to the student meeting spot.
Hi Carlene,

Pink and I are in the hospital for 2 weeks. I'm being treated for Cystic Fibrosis related stuff and Pink Is hanging out with me. She made a seamless transition - seems like a happy girl as long as we are together. My doctors are thrilled because I am getting exercise walking Pink around the campus (very important with CF). I also ran into a physical therapist who worked with me after my brain surgery. As Pink and I walked by she said, "Hey, didn't you used to have a balance disoder?". That says it all!

468 pounds of stuff is enroute to  sdp from farmtek ( walls, etc for the new building)  and we need a piece in the puppy pen in the barn..
it will be a "tailgate delivery"  and i do not know when-- nothing is fragile so i may just have to drag it off the tailgate and let it fall.
*****************
a quick funeraL report- i have to admit our family group ran a perfect " celebration of passing" -- from tom's car out front with his golf bag next to it... to great pictures and doctor type memorabilia draped around the rooms.  over 200 people drifted by the line  -- they fell into groups  medical-- motorcycle-- childhood friends..horse racing-- and service dog volunteers.. plus stanley and lindsay for dogs....
because apparently no food or drink can be served in funeral homes in Massachusetts, many fell in to the group around the SDP coa van in the parking lot -- where drinks etc were served by my texas relatives. ...
my thanks to all who stopped by

TEAL.... AND JOCHELYN (AKA 57)

CONTRARY TO PREVIOUS REPORTS-- THEY ARE DOING WONDERFULLY

IT WAS REPORTED THAT HE "RAN OFF" TWICE.... SOUNDED GRIM--- ANY SERVICE DOG IS SUPPOSED TO TURN TO THEIR PARTNER WHEN THEY ARE CONFUSED...

THERE SEEMS TO BE THE USUAL --- FIRST 20 MILES-- ADAPTATION

THEY JUST HAVE NOT WALKED FAR ENOUGH YET TO REALLY GET IN STEP.

UNFORTUNATELY THE ADAPTING PROCESS IS HAPPENING IN HER SCHOOL UNDER THE SOMETIMES GLARING EYES OF SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO DID NOT WANT THE DOG THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

SERVICE DOG OR NOT-- IF THEY ARE OUT OF CONTROL THEY CAN BE ASKED TO LEAVE ANYWHERE....

MEGAN TOOK THEM TO BEV HOSPITAL WHERE THERE IS A DEAD END HALL TO TRY AND GET A LINE ON THE "RUNNING OFF" REPORT-- HE DID PERFECTLY-- SHE FAKED A FALL 6 TIMES AND HE STAYED WITH HER AND HELPED HER SCRAMBLE TO HER FEET AGAIN...

WE THOUGHT MAYBE THE SCHOOL ENVIRON MENT WAS UPSETTING HIM SO WE TOOK THEM TO TH E IPSWICH SCHOOLS-- WE TRIED TO GET PERMISSION-- THEY COLULDNT FIND THE (NEW) PRINCIPAL SO I SAID WE WOULD GO ANY WAY AND BY THE TIME THEY FOUND US TO THROW US OUT.. WE WOULD HAVE ACOMPLISHED WHAT WE NEEDED..

TEAL WAS AGAIN PERFECT..... ALMOST-- WHEN SHE "FELL" NEAR THE DOOR--- HE LAY DOWN JUST OUT OF HER REACH-

TO ME HE SEEMED TO BE SAYING "ENOUGH ALREADY-- CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS DOOR???"

THE HALLS ECHO AND KIDS CHANGING CLASS IS SPECTACULAR NOISE WISE...

HE WAS UNFLAPPABLE-- AND SHE IS WALKING

I HAVE ATTACHED A VIDEO MEGAN TOOK-

THE FACT THAT IT IS ON IT'S SIDE---SORRY.....-- YOU GET THE PICTURE.. 57 CAN WALK WITH HIM

SO SOMEHOW HER SCHOOL IS GOING TO HAVE TO DEAL-

AND I DID MAKE A FEW SUGGESTIONS TO HER FATHER..

THEY HAVE A SITUATION IN THE HOME WHERE TEAL GOES INTO A ROOM AND DOES NOT WANT TO COME OUT. SO THE FATHER ON OCCASION HAS PUT A COLLAR ON HIM AND PULLED HIM BACK TO THE LIVING ROOM--- OR PICKED HIM UP AND CARRIED HIM.

THEY SAW THAT AS NEEDING TO PRACTICE COMING WHEN CALLED.

I SEE THAT AS WHAT IS TEAL TELLING US?

HE KNOWS THE COMMAND 'COME'

HE ALSO KNOWS 'I'D RATHER NOT'--

THE KEY -- TO ME--- WAS THAT HE COMES IF YOU PICK UP HIS CHAIN COLLAR--- HE STICKS HIS HEAD IN THAT WILLINGLY-

COULD BE HE IS THINKING "OH GOOD... I KNOW WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THAT THING ON."

I PANICED THINKING WE HAD DONE THE WRONG THING TO GIVE TEAL ( 140 POUNDS) TO SUCH A LITTLE KID (57 pounds) BUT YESTERDAY SEEING HOW SHE CAN WALK WITH HIM- AFTER 2 YEARS IN A WHEELCHAIR-- WE ARE SOMEHOW GOING TO HAVE TO ADJUST THE PERSPECTIVE OF THAT PRINCIPAL.

I ASKED MANDY ( MOM) TO REPORT DETAILS EVERY DAY SO WE CAN ADDRESS THEM IMMEDIATGELY.-- AND HERE IS YESTERDAY'S

Jocelyn told me that Teal did quite well today. He did fine today after I got home today. He went to the store with us and walked very well with Jocelyn. Last night he actually went into our bathroom with Jocelyn and stayed there while she took a bath!! As soon as we got home tonight, he went right into Jocelyn's room and stayed there. He would not come out for anything. So, we just left him there. I just need to find what he might be afraid of in the living roo.
Thanks,
Mandy, Jocelyn and Teal

I DON'T THINK HE IS AFRAID OF SOMETHING IN THE LIVING ROOM... I THINK HE IS AFRAID OF THE ADULTS--

SOOOO.... JOCELYN.... GO HOLD HIS HAND AND TALK TO HIM- AND UNLESS THERE IS SOME IMMEDIATE PROBLEM-- LIKE HOUSE FIRE ETC... LET JOCELYN HANDLE HIM.. HE IS A SENSATIVE PUP.

****************

WHEW !

**********

AFTER THAT -- THE CAMERA PROJECT SEEMS SIMPLE-- I LEARNED HOW TO OPERATE WHAT THEY CALLED A SIMPLE CAMERA--- WITH RABBIT EARS ATTACHED---YOU PUSH 39 TINY BUTTONS- THE SIZE OF THE HEAD OF A PIN. AND IF YOU ARE AN ADHD GENIUS....IT MIGHT WORK.

SOMETHING I CAN COMMENT ON WITH AUTHORITY-- I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A TIDY WORK CREW. AND I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF THOSE...

IT WILL TAKE A WEEK OR TWO FOR THE REST OF THIS SYSTEM TO REAR INTO ACTION...

TO BE CONTINUED.

WE HAVE A NEW ( TIDY) WEB THANKS TO THERESA AND JANINE

AND ARE ENTERING THE MODERN COMMUNICATION WORLD OF LINKS

September 5, 2012

actually-- i don't know how many cameras are here-- they are coming back today- and i will get out my trusty index card and do a flow chart.
i think most will not have sound... i don't know where that decision rested.

at any rate no cursing in the horse alley- we need a sign to that effect.
***
the bad news is -- i heard a nasty remark about "passwords"

that "passwords"   has caused much  of my equipment to be un useable..  most notably my iphone which  jade  and megan set up--i  can not go purchase an "ap"  because of an unknown/ forgotten password.

26 letters and 10 numbers + another 26 letters that are capitalized-- the permutations and combinations approach infinity.

things that are usually  simple--
what is your mother's birthday? well--my mother had 2
  one in may -
the second 3 months later in July  -- which was in better agreement of 9 months after the wedding.
?what is your mothers middle name?  "francis... or frances"?
i have too many of those things.

raises heck with things like social security...passports etc...

the ultimate  password?? .....i have a friend who refers to her husband as 56342-- which is his prison number-- he did not pay child support.
 **********
but back to the dogs...
teal has had a problem-- i think it is a question of too many people handling him-- service dogs have to receive 99% of their care and fun/affection from their partner-- you can not take shortcuts/  i think  between their travel plans and her age-- we may have got into a bind of bonding... looking back to the file-- in April - there were emails question the time availavble for bonding.
therefore fiona and vanilla are in the back room - with chaos..
they carry things-- chaos stays on her sofa while her 2 children carry large and noisy things around---buckets.. dishes....pieces of the .bed---  very noticeable in a very quiet house.

when i go out to scold them chaos ducks her head  with a "not me" look.

i want to go check the pups--  so this will be short

today schedule

camera lessons
teal at 10:00

janine said sometime today our new web will be alive..

. i will send that around too..
