LIFT   #1. FOOT....RUB ON INKPAD.. SET  #1 FOOT ON  SLICE OF BROWN BAG.... LIFT #2.  FOOT TO GET THE PRESSURE OF #1 FOOT ON THE BAG....PUT  #2 FOOT DOWN... PICK UP #1 FOOT AND REMOVE BAG .... SET BAG ON SOFA... WHILE BENTLEY PUTS #1 FOOT UP AND DOWN AND UP AND DOWN AND UP AND DOWN. THUS REMOVING  FROM HIS FOOT, ANY REMAINING INK ON THE VINYL FLOOR..  THERE ARE 2 KINDS OF INK PADS.. WASHABLE AND PERMANENT-- WE WERE USING THE PERMANENT ONE.... AND IT IS....   THUS ILLUSTRATING THE "KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE GOAL... "   AND WHY THIS IS CALLED CRAZY ACRES...   I KIND OF LIKE BENTLEY PAW PRINTS ALL OVER THE  LIGHT TAN FLOOR ...  IT  ADDS TO THE AMBIANCE .  AND IT IS ONE THING ON TH E FLOOR THAT I PROBABLY WON'T TRIP OVER.

 I DID SAY I WOULD SEND A PAWPRINT TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO MADE AN EXTRA EFFORT AND BOUGHT CHICKEN BRICKS. OVVER TH HOLIDAY???  WELL WE ARE TRYING......

To everyone who bought bricks over New Years .. the holiday season is always awkward to try and sell out .. and now is that COV continues I cAN  see it difficult for people tO come up with the $10 per number .. but whatever you can do without having a problem we certainly do appreciate it somehow we will figure it out .I am very hopeful that we get another payroll protection  PLAN. whatever loan ..  and that will take the pressure off too .. so with one foot firmly planted in mid air .. we go on .

It's the constant support FROM  you camera people but gave me the courage to go ahead and breed another litter with Reese and Watson ...  I'm sure someone wrote down the details like the date .. I seem to remember the ides of April ... income tax day ..  we should have puppies by then .

Speaking of the education of our dogs as opposed to training ... are recipients are supposed to get re certified on some sort of routine basis and if they can't make it here ..  there they send me a video of their dog working .. and I just got one for Zeppelin ..   You've all seen how George is really in step with Bella literally and figuratively ..  well Zeppelin is every bit as in tune with (.....Oh dear you think I'm going to remember her name I'm not ..  my specialty is dogs ).. In this video for re certification I always ask that they show me how they put the harness on the dog .. and I can tell by the dogs reaction having that harness slipped over their head , whether or not they approve the whole thing or look forward to it ... or whatever -----Zeppelin stands perfectly still and SEEMS ANXIOUS TO HAVE THAT HARNESS ON... AND THEN WATCHES  EVERY MOVEMENT IN ANTICIPATION OF “WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU NEXT” - AND  VERY CAREFULLY PERFORMS TASKS WE NEVER DID TEACH.

Including pulling her wheelchair probably fast enough to also get thrown out of Costco for speeding ..

Riding around in a wheelchair is a lot of things ..   one of 'em is damn slow .. So it really is kind of fun if you have to go through the airport 90 miles an hour knocking people out of the way ..  Maybe with these wheelchair pulling dogs we should fit the harness with one of those UUUHHHAAA horns that could sit right on top of the harness .  it would add something ..

one of the large problems with all of these disabilities ..  is they re so damn serious they don't leave much room for creative fun. you hardly see anybody smiling when they're pushing a wheelchair ....  or hobbling around on crutches .. yet every once in a  while we get somebody here who can see humor in impossible situations .

100 years ago my family decided to meet in Las Vegas for a weekend ..  and there was no way I could keep up with that crowd except to have winter Janine pushed me in a wheelchair ..  and I remember with a great deal of noise and effort being pushed up an escalator which was going down we made it  ..  20 years ago the collection of my nieces nephews and daughters ..all job dozens of miles a day and we're very fit and capable   it was a fun trip ..

 

THE DEPRESSION  of my alt key it's not the only problem with this computer although it is so much better ----I am still stuck with not knowing where these lines come from ...and the fact that it will just stop mid sentence if I'm typing and not watching  ---- Linda can type and watch the screen I type it watch my fingers and I still don't know where they go ... but once the computer starts having weird problems they can get weirder and weirder...

for example in trying to print out the litters of dogs we've had since 2016 so that I can try and extend our family tree to bring it to more current ,I was having an awful time trying to make the numbers come out right ..  several people sent me their rendition of the problem .. and it took me a lot of time to identify the fact that this computer or the printer or something was stuck on legal size paper wHILE actually putting it on regular size paper so that printing out a spreadsheet I was minus 4 lINES  of data .. without any real clue that that it happened .. it must have taken me a couple hours to try and identify the problem to SEE the fact that I was missing puppies then another 20 minutes to figure out why ..

so lesson of the day do not underestimate the ability of a computer to screw everything up .

 YOU DON'T APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE TIL  YOU DON'T HAVE IT.-- LIKE A WORKING KEYBOARD....SO IF THAT IS THE LESSON OF THE DAY, WHERE DO I START MY APPRECIATIOON??  RUNNING WATER WOULD BE HIGH ON TH E LIST- 

I REMEMBER......100 YEARS AGO.. GOING THRU AN EXERCISE OF-- STUCK ON AN  UNINHABITED ISLAND AND YOU COULD HAVE AN UNLIMITED SUPPLY OF 3 ITEMS WHAT WOIULD THEY BE?   MY FIRST WAS HOT WATER... SECOND. SHEETS OF 6MM PLASTIC AND 3RD  THOSE  OAT NATURE BAR THINGS. 

BUT WE HAVE BECOME  IMPOSSIBLY CONNECTED TO  ARTIFICAL  SUPPORT, MY WORLD CAN COME APART IF THE KERIG COFFEE MAKER IS SLOW TO PRODUCE COFFEE..  I BET THERE IS NOT A KID AROUND WHO HAS MADE COFFEE DRAINING WATER THRU A PAPER TOWEL.. OR GAUZE BANDAGE...LET ALONE SQUIRTED COFFEE CREAMER OUT OF A FRIENDLY COW.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE MINIMUM WAGE.....

Firstly it never occurred to me that these congress people stayed beyond 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon so to have them there passing bills or whatever they do at midnight was a shocker to me ..  and then have to argue with them over the fact that they're doing this 15 minimum wage all wrong ..kept me awake at night .. I kept explaining to them and no one was listening .. that there is a very sincere bit of logic to a man or a woman working 40 hours a week and still being in poverty so I'd totally agree with a $15 per hour wage for people ... let me define what is not quite people and that is the age group between 16 and 21 .. they're all full of energy and don't have the knowledge to go with it usually with a (few exceptions like Bill Gates) most teenagers should work for nothing until they learn to be worth something and that's called an internship of some kind .. but if this 16 to 21 year old is it being responsible and reliable then they should be paid pocket money while they continue to live with their parents and around their parents insurance and all those other funny things and if they made 750 an hour some of them might be worth it .. but I'm not sure that I could come up with a 16 year old who's work ethic or generic knowledge would  be worth much more than 750 an hour .. 

As a matter of fact communities around here along with the district attorney's office have approved service dog project as a place to send children to do what's known as community service .. and depending on what or why they're here--- the chores I saw assign can vary ..  if it's the district attorney's office and you're in for driving under the influence you had to be pretty stupid so therefore you get assigned repairing the stone walls and rolling rocks around in the freezing cold ...  because I wouldn't trust you to handle any of my animals or being around them for that matter you're better off way out in the Woods ..,.however if you need community service because of the Honor Society requirements then I'm more inclined to let you work in the barn around the animals because I know I could ask you to observe how much water did that dog drink when you go to refill the bucket and if it's full to the top let the barn manager know .. I don't think I'd let any of them use power tools or drive the tractor but they do have a lot of energy ..  that as I sit here without energy I can make  USE OF... WE NEED INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

 

It's hard to believe that uh I male child could get to be 20 years old and not no how to hammer a nail into a piece of wood or how to jumpstart a dead battery in a car .. but I have seen this .. and I also have seen a female child with the energy and curiosity to want to learn how to hammer nails and jumpstart cars .. because along with my friend Mike Rowe there is a terrable deficiency in the younger generation ..

now I can remember my grandparents making that same kind of statement ... take my grandmother .. raise five children in Westchester County New York on a farm . and there were several unique things ..  she was about 5 foot tall ---four of her five children were Mail and about 6 foot tall .. and I never heard one of 'em swear ...ever .. I also look forward to Sunday dinner with her becausw I don't know what she put in the chicken gravy but I have never had better chicken gravy since .

so here I am 80 years later having raised two children who both swear and eat bottled chicken gravy .. and don't even know about my grandmother ..

 

Just an aside .... since I started writing this,  a cousin of mine ---Richard price -- got in contact with me from maybe Goshen NY .. I would love to hear from him as to whether he ever remembers grandma prices chicken gravy. IN THE SUNDAY DINNERS AT. ??14 ROOSEVELT PLACE IN NEWBURGH...

NEXT PROBLEM.....

LYNNE IS HAVING TO GIVE UP HER MONITORING OF THE PUPPY HILL CAMERA—WHICH SHE HAS DONE BEAUTIFULLY    FOR Y. E. A. R. S.  ...   FROM MIDNIGHT OT 6AM....  WHEN THE OVERNIGHT PERSON TAKES OVER... IS THERE ANYONE WHO HAS TO BE UP AT THOSE HOURS  and could report on who is outside the kennels and if they are quiet or barking.    And what else you hear.. like owls, people yelling,  airplanes.. whisatles,  cars, fischer cats or coyotes

 COMPUTER REPORT... I HAD THE STARBUCKS VIRUS...... ONE SMALL DRIBBLE OF COFFEE WITH SUGAR HAD GLUED MY ALT KEY DOWN CAUSING MY KEYBOARD TO SPEQAK GREEK... AND I WAS SO SURE I HAD SOME WILD VIRUS-- I HAD BEEN TRAINEED TO THINK THAT... I AM ASHAMED..... I DON'T LIKE TO BE TRAINED. WILLIE LETOURNEAU WAS TOTALLY LACKING IN THE DEFEATEST ATTITUDE I HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO HAVE...  HE SPENT 2 MINUTES CLICKING AROUND TH ENORMAL THINGS ALL YOU RECOMMENDED.. AND GOT NO WHERE.. SO HE WHIPPED OUT HIS PHONE AND TYOED IN  "WHAT THE #$%^&* MAKES TH KEYBOARD GREEK". AND IT SAID  " YOUR ALT KEY IS STUCK"---.. ONCE AGAIN PROVING COURAGE AND CREATIVE THINKING CAN BEAT THE  BOOK.

AND THE BETTER SOLUTION  IS TO CUT DOWN THE NUMBERS WITH THE SNAP TRAPS----NEVER EVER SHOULD YOU USE POIZON  WHERE THERE ARE DOGS.. BECAUSE A DEAD RAT IS A PERFECT CHEW TOY --

THOSE METAL TRASH CANS OFTEN USED TO STORE ANIMAL FOOD.... HAVE A SLIGHTLY DOMED LID-- SO THE WATER RUNS OFF-- EXCEPT.....   WITH ANY KIND OF USE.. LIKE PUSHING DOWN ON TH E LID TO  CLOSE IT.... THAT DOME BECOMES INVERTED -- COUPLE THAT WITHTHE FACT THAT THE HANDLE IS PUT ON WITH RIVETS-- THAT Are not waterproof---  THE LID BECOMES A RAIN COLLECTION DEVICE AND IT ALL DRIPS DOWN INTO THE TRASH-- OR FEED--- MAKING A MOLDY MESS AT THE BOTTOM AND PEOPLE OFTEN DON'T REALIZE THE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT  PITCH OF THE LID IS THE CULPRIT.    CURED BY ONE GOOD YANK ON THE HANDLE.

THAT DOME BECOMES INVERTED -- COUPLE THAT WITHTHE FACT THAT THE HANDLE IS PUT ON WITH RIVETS-- THAT Are not waterproof---  THE LID BECOMES A RAIN COLLECTION DEVICE AND IT ALL DRIPS DOWN INTO THE TRASH-- OR FEED--- MAKING A MOLDY MESS AT THE BOTTOM AND PEOPLE OFTEN DON'T REALIZE THE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT  PITCH OF THE LID IS THE CULPRIT.    CURED BY ONE GOOD YANK ON THE HANDLE.

new rule-----if you are trying to train a dog,  you should be watching his head.. and not the icy  footing  in our yard.  so  often the concept is "i have to walk tis  pup around and check it off the list."  ...instead of lets go  to xxxxx  and see what he thinks while d oing that -----  the concentration SHOULD BE  what is "remarkable"..about the pup's movements./ behavoir/ THINKING     ...    i have zero interest in the fact that you  got in an elevator..  what i want to know is did he bite 3 people in the back when you did.  and since i have a lot to remember that i just don't..... lets keep TRAINING RECORDS   simple.  maybe.. just maybe,,, we could use a better modified system  of record keeping

right now... there are 2 running.. mine with the writing  whatever is a significant  problem needing work...on a poo picker put in a data file by  donna the other  is a compuiter in the barn with about   30 details.. stairs elevatoras traffic  etx.. to which teh handlers make comments whenever they take them out---- bad   fair   perfect----   ratings... which gives me  more  information with which to deal.than   i cannot cope. .. now "my"   poo pickers  don'r really give you aq chance to describe your pup is afraid of mirrors and  air brakes... where the barn computer will show you that , BUT ONLY if you take 1/2 hour to study all the B....F....P  ratings.  so mostly ... you don't.

how about ... one paper list on the wall for each pup with that list of  elevators and air brakes and if you are out with a pup and they do perfectly   on teh staiurs.. they get a P 

 then  by the time they have 4 "P" for each of the 30 topics, they are ready for a recipcient.    and in the meanitime   a trainer could tell at a glance what needs to be done-- and if they had no"P"  next to "bald men with sunglasses"  eventually the pup would b e given away as a therapy dog ... or donated  to some woman who does not like bald men anyway.  and that training sheet ends up in their perm record.------ point being  the process needs  to be re- thought....

when texas began my thinking on being cold-- and what a wondeerrful  heater our  antique wood stove was,   remember i did  make a list of terh crap on it which would have to be moved... well one of thos objects was our second "yuppy puppy" treat( gumball)  machine   whichi set up so the overnight person coud work on teachjing the pups.

 well someone wanted to wash the floor  and set it on the only available horizontal surface... the back of that stove... i have seen it ther before and set it out on the floor several times-- then i forget and it lands there. til people figure that is where it belongs... completely  forgetting the purpose  was to teach the pups how to use it....  BUT THE FLOOR IS DARN CLEAN !!! 

I RUN INTO  THE CAN'T WON'T DON'T    FACTOR -- AND WITH MY  AGE FACTOR OF MEMORY, I F I CANNOT SEE IT, I DON'T REMEMBER IT; I KNOW  THE HELP AROUND HERE IS  THE BEST INTHE WORLD, BUT I KNOW THERE IS A FACTOR OF JUST DO IT FOR A DAY OR TWO  AND SHE WILL FORGET.  AND SHE DOES.

LARKEY-- HAS A BIG PROBLEM .. WILL NOT GET IN THE CAR WILLINGLY--  I CAUSED IT.. MY FAULT..  I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES WHEN HE WAS IN GH BACK..AND HE FELL.. HE DID NOT THEN UNDERSTAND WHY ---SO HE FIGURES JUST DON'T GET INT HE CAR AGAIN;  AND AT OVER 100 POUNDS.. THAT IS A PROBLEM NEEDING SPECIAL; ATTENTION.  

CEE CEE MAY JUST BE TOO SENSATIVE FOR SERVCE  WORK...  I DUNNO.. AND AFTER IT WARMS  UP...  I WILL; ADDRESS THAT .

DO NOT RAISE THE PLATE---- LIKE  DON'T TRY TO LIFT IT OUT OF THE DOG'S RANGE..   LEAVE IT ON YOUR KNEE AND GIVE THE "OFFENDING PART.. THE NOSE" A  QUICK SHARP-2  FINGERS  ON THE NOSE... AND TELL THEM  "NO THIS IS NOT YOUR FOOD." .. YOU DO IT RIGHT AND THE SECOND TIME... IF THERE IS ONE, JUST LIFT YOUR FINGERS AND SAY "NO" AND MOST  ANY DOG WILL TURN AND WALK AWAY.. AND YOU HAVE A DOG TRAINED NOT TO BE A PEST A DINNER BY JUST SAYING "NO. THIS IS NOT  YOUR FOOD." ... AND EVERYONE WILL  THINK YOU ARE A GENIUS TRAINER.

DON’T GUESS.”   BY THIS MORNING TV HAD FOUND A LAWYER WHO HAD EXPERTISE  ON FLYING BECAUSE SHE WAS ALREADY SUING BOEING IN SOME OTHER CASE.  SHE WENT ON AND ON ABOUT ... “USUALLY PIECES OF THE FAN BLADES FLY OFF AND GO THRU THE CABIN, BUT IN THIS CAASE IT LOOKS LIKE THE ENGINE STAYED TOGETHER PRETTY WELL.. SO THEREFORE IT MUST  HAVE BEEN SOMETHING MAINTANIENCE SHOULD HAVE SPOTTED.. Emergencies   begat emergencies  ... cold is bad enough... but.. no water?? I was impressed with how many Texans were standing in line with coolers and 5 gallon water jugs...that  started me thinking how wonderful it is that I have so many coolers and five gallon jugs around here I certainly would have no problem if you didn't mind mixing the water with a few mouse poopies or whatever because mine are not stashed away clean and if all those people are lying to get water in those containers they must have put them away clean----so now   I   can see that as a way of providing for an emergency a four inch square piece of tinfoil at the top of those water jugs could be part of an emergency system then at least the jug would be clean..  and that started me

 

My life with generators is a very convoluted topic we now have automatic generators--- two of them---- but I was along time getting there .. along the way I certainly saw the need for a generator and I did buy one or two or three but they all have to be started up regularly and make sure they have gas and oil and things like that ------if somehow by the time you have an emergency with one of those it's been so long since it was started that you pull that rope for four hours before it finally chugs on ..  and then I found out I had a better generator already ready to go always ----if I just bought a very inexpensive “inverter “ for my car .. doesn't produce a lot of electricity but enough to run one or two things at a time and the car is already always ready to go .. The inverter I now have in my car is about the size of two packs of cigarettes and plugs into the what was known as the cigar lighter and it has a place to plug in one extension cord... I do have a semi emergency plan around here to always keep my car full of gas .  All the other generators that I have owned and still own it just cannot keep up with everything like to make sure you start them every week or something so the car to me is a fine solution – without bud.. those generators  are 100% useless.

 

now As for water ----that's a whole new ball game ... not very long ago we did not have city water here and we had a well which means when we lost electricity we lost    water so  I’m very familiar with that .. but seeing as we live across the street from a Lake,   water was always around I could get it by the bucket if I had to to water animals or flush..... but some of these people in Texas who live in suburbia really hard pressed to find water -------you do have some in your house namely your hot water heater is I believe full of clean drinking water at least it was when he started and every house in New England has the ability shut off the water and drain the pipes ------- in a reasonable size house you'll get a couple gallons of water out of the pipes ..  One of the very first things you have to do with an emergency like Texas is plan   for your general sanatation ...  and where they lack water  flushing is a luxury....  maybe they are lucky  it is soo cold..... If they had a few plastic bags and the three gallon size plastic buckets .. .. that would mean that to keep the place sanitary -- they could just bag it and put it outside let it freeze .

 

which Started me on it making a mental list of things I take for granted they might suddenly be without ...  from experience I have realized that there are damn few smokers anymore ..  so when you turn around and ask for a match .. nobody has one ..  it takes a very long time rubbing sticks together( so they tell me)  -----  there is very little substitute for a match .

so that would be the first thing  in my emergency bucket  -- Closely followed by   a week's worth of pills --  they would have to be monitored and recycled .. there's no way I can go a week without dilantin...  ----

As for trying to stay warm in this house , the best way is to use the iron stove in the kitchen becausw by dropping any kind of a tarp on one side you have a small confined area with a  ceiling ..  the fireplace opens up into the cathedral ceiling which makes the fireplace a bit of a joke .. that stove in the kitchen has been known to keep the kitchen toasty ..  however at the moment ...it provided a horizontal space for people to put things... microwave   dog food.. plasticware fluffys In paper goods .. People in the good old days would never build a house with a cathedral ceiling .. and these kitchen stoves we're responsible for warming many families I'm sure .. while cooking food and baking bread.....if I could just get mine cleaned off .

Dear Carlene & Lynn, 

Dale been settling in very well at home here in Florida. We have been working very hard I’m building our partnership and making our bond very tight. We go out working every day. We also work on recall for at least three hours every single day. She loves to go out and work. I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for me for giving me back my independence. As I say independence is the most priceless gift that anybody can possibly ask for. Thank you so much for all that you do for people like me. 

She has helped me so much since we been together in such the short time already. She has stopped numerous falls and she she. Gets so proud of herself for it. 

She has helped me so much at home, just getting up is a task and she helps me up all I have to do is ask her for “ help” and she comes running over to help me. 

She braces and helps me up if I’m on the floor doing something and helps me down safe and back up. 

She loves to vest up and go out to work. Her tail wags and she loves walking by my side helping me through each step of the way. 

Pixie RugerDuke and Dale have all settled in quite nicely. It as if they all live together for their entire lives. They all snuggle, play together and enjoy each other‘s company. Sometimes I giggle because the deal seems to like to lay down on top of pixie sometimes. And pixie just does not mind. Pixie excepted her from the second we walked in the door. They all have a beautiful relationship.

She has given my independence back!! That is a gift that I’m so forever grateful for. 

Thank you so much SDP, the Trainers, staff, volunteers and all who have made this possible. I just can not say how thankful I am enough for my beautiful girl who has opened up a whole new world for me giving me my independence back❤️

 Scarlott’s lump came back not cancer  wow an unexpected relief..  apparently the odds were about 50% in some studies...i think george was on the 50% side..  thank you George.

 

Collecting data is a wonderful thing...

And I write this a s  a way of collecting data – it may be boring to the daily doggie bunch but I had to write this up so you may as well read it.  It also might be a help because this group of daily doggy readers contains several lawyers and retired lawyers and they USUALLY  HAVE SUGGEETIONS TO MAKE ....

 

Lynne Michieli   Has done a wonderful job for several years at monitoring the noise is heard on the puppy Hill camera and there are patterns most notably why are the dogs pretty quiet all night long with maybe a single Woff or two for a week   and then one night bark for nearly a HALF  hour .. but if you start looking at those  noise there is usually a few other things------ like the Donkeys will Bray , or there a man's voice has been heard , when there are no men on the property , high pitched whistling  , wild animals another such

 

. Thanks to this Lynn person having done a fantastic job reporting every rooster cricket and frog global everything else if you line up a lot of these morning reports you could see but most of the time the dogs are very quiet and then there will be one early morning where they're coming  off the wall .. many of those involve a strange noise  in the  distance .. I don't know how many 100 noise reports I have ----well I have an awful lot and I've kind of pulled some out of the pack at random just to put in a flyer to take to court ..  because along with having put in the trail that may be causing Some of the early morning activity .. These noise reports also verified the fact that many nights there's absolutely no barking  noise except for the geese an airplane overhead, frogs, and  an occasional rooster . LAST NIGHT WAS COYOT4E NIGHT .... 

I have several neighbors as close to the kennels as the partridgeberry development , who have said on paper but they haven't noticed any barking .. and they have normal hearing .   great Danes are generally too lazy to cause too much of a commotion if they have a cause they will bark ----if they don't they don't ...

 

. I had forgotten the fact that when that partridgeberry property was first sold  ,  the rest of the neighbors ask me if I wouldn't please move my fence in so a trail could be maintained along the edge between the partridgeberry and myself so that my current neighbors would have a trail access to willowdale state forest ----- so I did that

it it's  A registered trail with the bOxford trail Association or some other such I don't know---- they maintain it I don't have anything to do with it .. but as they began to build partridgeberry I realized they were cutting off and access and easier access into willowdale  State forest and I told  the builder if he would put a bridge across a stream--- tiny little stream which would facilitate the trail people .. I would not complain about the early morning noise of his tree cutters----   so he did that ---whoever he was ----nice bridge--- wouldn't hold a horse but it's a nice people bridge . and it is used by people who like to walk their dogs in the . .Many hundreds of acres a forest which is willowdale .

 

there are a lot of people who walk dogs on boxford rd   and I have recognized several of them walking along our back fence during the day .. there have been several mornings when I've been out in the car by 5:00 o'clock and there are  dog walkers are out at that point .. And there is a guy “Larry “ with a big good size dog  Harry .. who said he like to walk the dog before he goes to the airport early in the morning ..  Larry said he liked to go in “my “ trail if you will ---which then basically loops around to the East and comes out on boxford Rd again along a fire Rd about 1/2 mile down boxford Rd    he said it's a nice 45 minute loop .  that trail is attached to the    ‘xxxxxxxxx  necklace “  which is a  walking  trail  from  CAPE COD  TO  CAPE ANN .

 

that 45 minute loop has also been enjoyed by veterans  from our place who enjoy the quiet walk...and THERE IS  a DONKEY WALKING BUNCH SHO SHOW UP PN SOME SUNDAY MORNINGS...  to aid them... and because I myself h ave been lost in those woods., I put a red painted dot on the trees to mark  the turn off which loops to  the trail by my house.. I was severely reprimanded for doing that,   these trail people are doing a wondeful thing and do not want my help[ !!  they are very possessive of trails.

Gelato has done a fantastic job helping Hunter even though the world became crazy and basically shut down for us. He's attentive, smart, dramatic, playful, goofy, and loves his boy. He loves treats and toys, naps on the couch, zoomies in the snow, and eating snow and ice. He has given Wendy the rest she needed, so she can play and enjoy her "golden years." Gelli, you have had glimpses of how hard Hunter will make you work, but you do it with your chest out and your tail keeping time. We love you and are blessed that you bonded so quickly with Hunter and love working with him

Fascinating ....i thought how easy, wrong....i too came up with 37 on 1st go round by starting west to east....next up: lived & travelled / 5 more ...next alphabet/0...next colegiant teams / 2 more ....for a total of 44, with a newly created state, mexico.....sorry forgotten  states which included Pennsylvania (husbands family relatives), new hampshire, vermont

and delaware....i'll try it again in 6 months and see if mexico is still there....."never stop learning"....Nancy

Got 42states off the top of my head and 6 more from looking at a blank map of the

States and finally had to pull up labeled map to get the last 2.  Great mental exercise.

About the 50 states memorization, in grade school we were taught the song “50 Nifty United States” which included singing all fifty, in alpha order.  I still remember to this day, and I taught it to my own kids so whenever we took long car trips and looked for license plates, they could make their own list easily.   Still remember it at age 64.

* first run thru  31  then 40

* I got to 48 easily, 49 with great difficulty (New Jersey), and only got to 50 by looking at a map (Missouri). 
* alpha  42  then 48

* Counting States, it took me a little bit but I got to 46 on my own.

*I can name all 50 in alpha order - because I was taught a song in elementary school! One of the most useful things I ever learned...

BTW - I’m one of those crazy people who studied Latin- to the point of being in a PhD program. Escaped with an MA.

* listed 47 out of 50 states geographically.  Starting at Washington and moving down the west coast thru the southern border and then up the east coast and surrounding states and then the northern border.      I knew the states in the mid-west were going to be the miss …    I missed Nebraska, Wyoming and Iowa. 

*I could name 48 of them.

Used a map in my head - but I knew there were 2 out west that I couldn’t think of. The two being Colorado and Oregon!!

I HAVE DONE AN  EXTREMELY STUPID THING... AGAIN....  I   HAVE LEFT MY CAR UP ON THE HILL--- YESTERDAYS  MELTED SNOW IS NOW ICE  AND I HAVE ABOUT 6 INCHES EXTRA ROOM BETWEEN THE HOUSE AND A TREE..... THE TREE HAS MANY  SCARS-- I CALL IT CRAZY ACRES'  BERMUDA TRIANGLE.

 MUST GET IT OUT OF THERE TODAY.. BEFORE NEXT SNOW.  MAYBE ??? TOMORROW???

Here is an update on how Nala is doing.

 

She continues to be a picky eater at breakfast but eagerly finishes both lunch and supper. She has transitioned from the special diet formula foods to Purina dry and Purina Sensitive Skin and Stomach canned which she is enjoying and not having any adverse reaction to.

Nala continues to provide me with a steady balance partner as she has been accompanying me on various shopping trips and behaves as a professional service dog at all times. I’m so proud and happy to have her in my life.
