.I NEVER CHECKED HIS STATISTICS, BUT THEY SOUNDED INTERESTING..  I HEAR THINGS LIKE THAT AND WORRY ABOUT PORTA-POTTIES....

SO WHEN A PUPPY SEES A MANNEQUIN IN A STORE WINDOW, THEY FIGURE ATTACK IS PENDING-- WORSE YET ARE TEH ANIMALS IN MALL S  THAT YOU PUT A QUARTEDR IN  TO LET KIDS RIDE FOR 43 SECONDS...  DOGS HAVE A PROBLEM WIHT THOSE  AND EVEN A TRAINED DOG WILL IF ALLOWED TRY AND DO SOME BUTT SNIFFING...

** WHICH BRINGS TO MIND THE LATEST ON THE NESWS TODAY.. SOMEONE HAS INVENTED A CARRY ON PIECE OF "LUGGAGE" THAT YOU CAN RIDE ON..  STARTED AS A JOKE... AND THAT JUDY PERSON  HAD A RIDE ON ONE THRU SOME AIRPORT... ALL I CAN SAY IS ... IT WORKS.. HANDLE BARS , FOOT PEDALS FLIP OUT AND IT DOES FIT IN THE OVERHEAD DIMENSIONS..  GOOD FOR 8 MILES....

you all know  i am psychologically opposed to facebook-- i think it is hazardess to your health... however....

 i got this message  - and  with great fear, i went "out" to facebook and typed in my name and found the vido of last night's mailcall.

the unexpected package of a mannequin... in pieces  was filmed by lee -- my 2 relatives  -- identical twin boys from arlington va.... never been to mail call before but pitched right in at assembling a female mannequin... as various parts fell off and rolled around, it was a funny episode.  i assume you can go and look at it.. unless i have to do something  to make it available... let me know... by email...

Many of you have listened to me talking about the Service Dog Project and the marvelous Danes they raise to become service dogs, they also do equine rescue, via the daughter of the SDP founder, Carlene White. The good works these womyn do is amazing, and it helps knowing that the whole world is not insane, there is life outside of politics. Feel free to pass this on, everybody deserves to feel happy for a while, and this video will do it.

....donkeys are such fantastic animals- unfortunately they look like horses, but are actually more like dogs in personalities...if you know nothing else about donkeys, know that  the reputation they have for being stubborn comes from them being careful when frightened... particularly of their footing...  when i drove that "hitch " of 8 mini's like the budweisers in dozens of big parades, they never once put a foot on a metal  manhole or water main cover.. consequently  unlike  teh budweisers who always walked a perfectly straight line,  we just didn't-- and i can tell you  framingham mass has more water main covers in it's town square than any other in the world !!  the crowd- who did not understand donkeys could not figure out why  our path was so contorted..it was amazing we got thru it the first year.

these "wild"   donkeys out of the slaughter pens in texas make such good pets.. they quiet down very nicely, and my only advice is to use a frying pan to "hand feed" them til they learn not to grab  a finger by mistake.

today's job -- for the twins is to move the tipi to it's usual placce near the g "g-tent"  so they should be on the puppy hill camera if the camera op turns it around..  they have r gladys laubin's book on "the indian tipi"  which has directions .. and tells you    a good indian woman can set up her tipi in an hour...

A full day of play dates for everyone! Our friend Hunter came over this morning to spend the day with us. Bella and hunter have always gotten along so well together. We drove to our friend the Morriseys house so Bella and Hunter could play with Kaitlin and Simon. But that also means George got to play with his friend Echo. They get along so well. The one thing is George is much faster. Echos mom says it's because George is in better shape. Could be but who knows. George just enjoyed running around. We also discovered he loves to chomp on ice cubes. It must have tasted good after running and playing outside. George also found a pile of sand, dug a hole and stuck his face in it! Needless to say when he was done rolling and digging in the mud he needed a hose down. Then we came home and Bella and Kaitlin are having a sleepover. I am actually taking the girls and George out to the camper for the night. Should be exciting. I think this will be Georges first sleep over in the camper!

 So off to head outside with the girls. Thanks for checking in!

quick doggie....

i got sidetracked trying to find 2" clear plastic  flexable tubing-- i did find some-- but i can't believe the price of $6 per foot only sold in  5' -10' legnths...  i was trying to fined a clearence section..  for some nutty professor experiments ..  i havesome interesting concepts people have sent me  and i need to try them first...-- altho that might ruin all the fun.

i kept running into watts - and that name rings a bell- a high school friend had somethign to do with watts... and fluid mnagement-- maybe i can get a consult on this nutty prof idea...

dawn points out-- her 4th? grade class cllasss ( who watch us in denver) 

are all new this year   and will not have seen the old ones before...

Hi Carlene and all the Volunteers. I hope that you are having a good summer.

Fiona was 7 last Saturday and we went to a Blueberry festival.She was a big star. We didn't stay long because it was so hot. I have a bottle with a water catch on the bottom and she slurps from that. I was surprised at the dogs there without one. She is just great and my love. Love you all, for all you do.

What an awesome day. It was very hot out that's for sure. Sitting in the sun when it is almost 100 can take a toll. I don't know how these guys play in it but they did. We did go find a shady spot a couple times for Bella and George. We brought lots of water in the cooler. Everyone was drinking it. It was a very 

early morning. We left the house just before 6 am! If we didn't leave then the traffic would have been miserable. We arrived at Gillette stadium and there was already a line at about 7. They opened the gates at 8:30. And boy does everyone run! The mob of people running was a bit scary! Gabi took off 

running right along with everyone. She was able to get us seats in the handicap section. We sat in front row and had a blast watching everyone play. Just before it ended we were told it would be best if we moved off to the side because there is a mob that comes crashing down to the ropes in hopes of 

autographs. So we moved way off to the side. Gronk came over and said hi. He looked pretty amazed at the size of George. We thought he was big! Then Chris Hogan came over to say hi. He has 2 Great Danes at home so wanted to meet Bella and George. He was a cool guy. Bella and Chris were 

comparing the size of DANES. She told him how George helps her and then all the sudden it dawned on him that they were the 2 from the news story last year! Chris signed his gloves and gave them to Bella. That was a pretty amazing gift. Bella has carried them around all day. She hopes to meet him again. 

but waiting to find out. I haven't told the girls just in case it doesn't work out. Gabi was hoping to get Edleman's autograph but not today. Bella thinks George should be the new Patriots mascot so she can go to more games. Bella and Gabi had shirts signed and George had his best signed! Now he may 

need to put that one away until next time. Great day but very tired and ready for bed. Have a wonderful night. Love Bella and George 👧🐶💕

WATER....A VERY LONG TIME AGO.... I CAN REMEMBER --- IN A CONVERSATION ABOUT PEPSI BUYING A PROPERTY  IN LYNNFIELD THAT HAD A NATURAL SPRING ON IT.... I SAID  "I CAN'T SEE SPENDNNG MONEY ON GAS TO SHIP WATER AROUND....

THAT HAS TO BE ONE OF THE WRONGEST STATEMENTS ANYONE HAS EVER MADE..  

OF ALL THE THINGS THAT SCARE ME... DROUGHT IS CERTAINLY  HIGH ON MY LIST.  IT IS ONE COMMENT I MADE ABOUT BUYING THIS PROPERTY-- THERE WERE /ARE  2 LOTS - MY HUSBAND 'S WAS THE HOUSE LOT  #37  .. AND MINE WAS "THE REST "  #45   WHICH HAD  A PERMANENT RIGHT OF WAY TO THE POND ACROSS THE STREET.  I NOTICED THAT WATER SUPPLY.....

WATER IS  NOT GIVEN THE CREDIT FOR WHAT IT IS...  

I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A SITUATION OF TOO MUCH WATER--- EVEN WITH 3 FEET OF IT IN THE BASEMENT IN LYNNFIELD... IT WAS ONLY AN INCONVENIENCE--- A LITTLE DAWN, A LITTLE CHLOROX, AND IT WENT AWAY... 

NOW-- SURROUNDED BY FOREST  THAT COULD STAND A GOOD DRINK OF WATER, I AM THRILLED TO HEAR IT IS EXPECTED TO RAIN HEAVILY TOMORROW...

MY REAL CONCERN  IS-- YESTERDAY THE IPSWICH TOWN BASEBALL FIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE.

OUR LUSH GRASS CRUNCHES WHEN YOU WALK ON IT.

 I COULD CALL THIS " MY LIFE WITH WATER".. 

IN SPAIN- IN COLLEGE- BRUSHING M Y TEETH IN THE MORNING WITH RED WINE LOST IT'S CHARM AND MADE ME  START CARRYING WATER AROUND WITH ME...50 YEARS I STILL HAVE THAT INSTINCT.  AS WITNESSED....

IN ?1970 ISH   --- WHEN OUR HOUSE BURNED TO THE GROUND IN LYNNFIELD ONE NEW YEARS EVE,  I HAD ABOUT15 HORSES IN THE BARN...AND IMMEDIATELY , HAD NO WATER... WITHIN ABOUT 4 HOURS-   I NEEDED  TO WATER THOSE 15 HORSES- THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS STILL THERE SPRAYING THE  SMOULDERING RUINS AND FILLED A BIG TANK WITH WATER WHICH LASTED 24 HOURS. AND I WAS ON MY OWN.  I HAD A SMALL PICK UP AND GOT A PLASTIC  55 GALLON DRUM WHICH I COULD FILL AT  VARIOUS NEIGHBORS..-- REMEMBER I SAID THIS WAS A NEW YEARS EVE FIRE?  WELL YOU DON'T FILL A 55 GALLON DRUN IN THE BACK OF A PICK UP AHEAD OF TIME SO THAT YOU CAN WATER IN THE MORNING-- BECAUSE  I WAS FACED  WITH A 55 GALLON BLOCK OF ICE  THAT SPLIT THE PLASTIC DRUM AND THEN JUST SLID AROUND THE BACK OF THE TRUCK WHEN I DROVE.-- KNOWING  THAT IT WOULD BE VALUABLE IF IT THAWED,I CARRIED IT AROUND FOR A FEW DAYS  BEING CAREFUL NOT TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES,  BEFORE  I TRIED TO LAND IT IN AN INFLATED SWIMMING POOL.   I HAD ALREADY GONE TO NEW PLASTIC TRASH CANS--  A FEW OF THOSE AND THIS BLOCK OF ICE  WERE ANOTHER PROBLEM... WATER IS HEAVY.

FINALLY WE DID UNCOVER WHERE THE TOWN WATER ENTERED THE HOUSE AND COULD HOOK A HOSE.. WHICH WORKED ONCE-- REMEMBER.. JANUARY WEATHER--  EVEN THE 100 FEET OF HEAT TAPE DID NOT KEEP IT RUNNING- ...UNTIL I REALIZED  THE MANURE PILE  IS WARM.    SO I COVERED THE HOSE WITH 18 INCHES OF  MANURE, AND WITH A TINY DRIP,  IT RAN WELL FOR THE REST OF THE WINTER.  EVEN WHEN WE LOST ELECTRICITY FOR THE HEAT TAPE..  

THE CONCEPT  OF WATER RUNNING THRU A  HOSE OR PIPE   IS ONE OF THE GREATEST INVENTIONS OF TEH WORLD AND NOT GIVEN ENOUGH CREDIT..

JUST THINK YOU'D LOOK DARN FOOLISH STANDING IN A WHITE TUB WITH NO CLOTHES ON POURING SHAMPOO ON YOUR HEAD IF THERE WAS NO LITTLE PIPE CONNECTED TO THE VERY BASIC  PART OF ALL NATURE.  BEEN THERE , DONE THAT.

HERE IN IPSWICH  THERE WAS NO TOWN WATER FOR  MANY   YEARS...  WE DO HAVE A 500 FOOT DEEP , PLENTIFUL  WELL- THAT IS PERFECTLY GOOD TO DRINK... PROBLEM IS, IT IS BECUSE OF THE MINERALS CONTENT   IT IS BROWN AND   IT SMELLS  AWFUL LIKE  A BUNCH OF DEAD FISH.  THE ANIMALS HAD NO PROBLEM DRINKING IT..THANKFULLY...  BUT I WAS ON BOTTLED WATER LONG AGO.

IT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ONLY COMPLAINT WE HAVE EVER HAD WITH  THE SPCA---  THEY ARRIVED ( OR MAYBE IT WAS THE USDA)  AND CITED ME FOR NOT SCRUBBING OUT THE HORSES  WATER BUCKETS WHICH WERE STAINED BROWN....... UNTIL I ACTUALLY SHOWED THEM TEH INSIDE OF MY DISHWASHER--- SAME  BROWN...   THEY WENT AWAY...

BEING  CONNECTED TO A WELL MEANS ALSO THAT  YOU ARE DEPENDENT ON ELECTRICITY O PUMP THE WATER  UP AND OUT..   SO WHEN THE ELECTRICITY WENT OFF, WE WOULD , WITH THE SLIGHT PRESSURE STILL LEFT INT HE TANK,  FILL A BUNCH OF 5 GALLON PLASTIC PAILS.. BECAUSE ...  TOILETS FLUSH WITH WATER..  IN IPSWICH-- GIVEN  THE POND ACROSS TTHE STREET, A CAR THAT RAN, AND ENOUGH BUCKETS, WE KEPT HORSES WATERED AND TOILETS FLUSHED-- AND DID NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE GYM FOR EXERCISE.

I COULD GO ON  AND ON--- BUT I WILL SPARE YOU

TAKE MY WORD FOR IT  WHEN YOU NEED WATER .. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE.

( I AM WAITING FOR THE DAY THEY RUN A PIPE FROM THE GREAT LAKES TO CALIFORNIA -  ABSURD?  REMEMBER-- THEY PIPE GAS FURTHER -  AND WE ARE THE  "THEY"

PROBLEM.....THERE REALLY ARE 2 KINDS OF HARNESSESS THAT WE USE...  THE ONE WE HAVE COMING FROM CHINA...  THE OTHER SIMPLY THE WEB  WHICH ALOT OF PEOPLE USE "AROUND TEH HOUSE"-- I HAVE ASKED THE  COMPNY THAT SELLS THOSE TO MODIFY THE DESIGN SO THAT THEY ARE EASIER TO GET ON A SERVICE DOG.  I ASKED THEM ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO-- AND THEN WE GOT A BUNCH AND  I THINK IT WAS ROSE DOGGIE,CP THAT FIXED THEM FOR US WITH AN EXTRA BUCKLE. 

BELLA USES THE "DAILY"  WEB HARNESS....AND SHE GRABS TEH HARNESS PIECE WHICH RUNS PARALELL TO GEORGE( THE SERVICE DOG)'S  BACKBONE. 

 WHICH BRINGS TO MIND GEORGE W.  BUSH'S ANATOMY.. AND HOW IT RELATES TO MR MOON IN CHINA.

I REMEMBER....... WHEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE DETAILS OF STARTING  THIS SDP,  I HAD TO COME UP WITH SOME REALLY SCIENTIFIC STUDIES- SINCE ADI CONSIDERED ME A NUT TO TRY TRAINING GREAT DANES...  I KNEW IF I GAVE  PEOPLE ENOUGH STATISTICS THAT THEY COULD SKIP OVER (BECAUSE THEY NEVER LIKED MATH ANYWAY....) .. THAT THEY MIGHT JUST GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE-  WITHOUT THE  NEGATIVVE COMMENTS ABOUT GREAT DANES.

SO I DECIDED TO  "STUDY"  THE LONG HANDLES THEY WERE PUTTING ON A SHORT DOG ( LABS AND GOLDENS) AND CALLING THEM BALANCE DOGS... THERE WAS NO QUESTION IT WAS A WOBBLY SITUATION AND IN SOME TALK TO A GROUP OF TRAINERS I SUGGESTED THE TORQUE COULD  MEAN INJURY TO THE DOG.  TORQUE BEING A NEW WORD TO ALOT OF PEOPLE.(BLESS MY HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS CLASS)..  I DECIDED THE BEST DOG WOULD  ALLOW A PERSON'S  KNUCKLES TO BRUSH THE BACK OF THE DOG STANDING NEXT  TO THEM.

 HERE IS WHERE GEORGE BUSH'S BODY PARTS COMES INTO THE STORY...

I JUST HAPPENED TO NOTICE AS HE WALKED DOWN THE HALL  OF THE WHITE HOUSE, TOWARD TEH CAMERA,  THE BACKS OF HIS HANDS FACED FORWARD-- AND I COULD SEE THAT WOULD BE THE HEIGHT OF THE IDEAL DOG FOR A MAN HIS HEIGHT ( GUYS COMING BACK FROM THE WAR)

SOOOOO... WHAT WAS THE DISTANCE F HIS HANDS FROM THE FLOOR....??  I NOTICED THAT  HIS HANDS MET AT THE HEIGHT OF WHERE  HIS LEGS CAME TOGETHER ( SHALL WE SAY)..

HOW TO DISCOVER A SCIENTIFIC NUMBER FOR THE MOST COMMON HEIGHT? 

OFF TO COSTCO  WHERE I MEASURED TEH  HEIGHT OF THE PILES OF BLUE JEANS  WHICH WERE SORTED BY INSEAM.. AND FOUND 32" TO BE TH E HIGHEST PILE AND THEREFORE COSTOCO HAD PROBABLY PAID GOOD MONEY FOR SOMEONE TO FIGURE OUT  32 " WAS THE MOST COMMON  INSEAM  SIZE SOLD.

  I STARTED MY BREEDING PROGRAM... BENTLEY IS 32 INCHES TALL.

BUT THAT IS NOT THE END OF GEORGE W.'S  BODY PARTS STORY....

THE BACKS OF HIS HANDS SHOWED FACING FORWARD..-- I KNOW  I HAVE OBSERVED PEOPLE 'S ARMS HANG 2 WAYS--  EITHER  THUMB  OR BACK OF HAND FACING FORWARD...  AND IT COULD BE MORE MEN HAVE THE BACK OF HAND SHOWING...  WHICH WOULD VBE FINE FOR THE HARNESS MR MOON SENT WHERE THE HANDLE IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE DOG'S SPINE...

BUT BELLA USED THE WEB HARNESS BY GRABBING THE WEB WHICH RUNS PARALELL TO GEORGE( THE DOG'S SPINE.

AND SO DO ALOT OF PEOPLE.

SO THAT IS MY PROBLEM OF THE DAY...DESIGNING A HARNESS TO COPE WITH  ARMS LIKE BELLA OR GEORGE W. BUSH.

THAT IS NOT THE END.---the effeciency of DHL is overwheming...7/22 AT 12:12   DHL CALLED TO SAY THEY HAD A PACKAGE  .Departed Facility in HONG KONG---  TO A RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS...AND IT NEEDED A SIGNATURE WOULD I PLEASE ARRAINGE FOR SOMEONE TO SIGN FOR IT OR HAVE THE  NSR ( NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED)  FORM ATTACHED TO YOUR FRONT DOOR.

experience comes from bad experience...-- and it is the little things  that can pile up...maybe it is the farmer in me...but.....this morninfg  as i approached the coffee pot, i noticed the blender/grinderupper that was used to bed goats milk and puppy chow had not been set to soak.

let me be the first to tell you, if you need a small quantity of cememt, try puppy food and goats milk- and it takes a long soak in hot water to loosen it.

let me set the scene...puppies wake up , hungery-- and complaininig about faster service--- you run to the kitchen and teh blender is  coated in teh cement of the  last meal-- you give it a good try of  water and a rinse- and figure ... "i an putting in it what is already stuck to it so why not?"

  it looks normal... so you feed the pups-- they love it--  and go back to playing bitey face, processing a nice bowel movement  and then napping..

couple hours later  they get up and don't  have a bowel movement, they just  noisily "let it go."... preferably walking thru it before getting back in what was a nice clean fluffy....that is the beginning of the end of cuddling beautiful  pups....they don't understand why no one gives thme the loving attention anymore-- and decide people are not friendly things.

so maybe i exagerate---- just a little...my point being.. milk is a wonderful culture media or growing germs  second only to mayonase in the hot sun...( i think).  and attention to the one detail of putting the blender to soak in hot soapy water-- can have it's consequences  down the road where some mystery symptom  will develope ( loose stool) and a you would pay dearly to  test for all sorts of wild latin named things--- when it fact it was  just plain sloppy living. 

so i make rules as i see things... and grace prints a sign-- and we end up with a colorful collection of do's and don'ts on every  vertical surface on the farm.

going back  to the basic problem... everyone wants to pat  puppies-- i get volunteer offers all the time  to walk dogs and  babysit puppies. hardly ever do i get offers to scrub blenders...mind you .. i  can'r say NEVER.

i remember ...( here we go again...) back when the cameras were new,  someone appeared at the front door with bucket and mop  and said  it looked like i could use a hand-- of course i said yes--- why would i say anything else?

the other  up-piling   that needs to be addressed.... we moved theresa/ now linda into the side room to get her awy from all the distractions of teh front door.  how foolish-- with 2 recliner chairs, a tv and a bunch of puppies... where do you think people now gather?   it ain't out with me on a hard bench....  until today...  donna has uncovered the bench right there by the front door... and unless your name is grace or pam  there is no reason for you to be perched  in a recliner---  back to--- this is no   spa...  from 7 to 7 we will observe working hours. and all  coffee drinking -perching will be done on the hard bench...

cameras are a thig of beauty..  we have  some adjusting to do yet... like get the donkeys on line somehow..  but that i s a california  kind of thing.  the variety of comments about the sound have to be the individual camera people and their computers..  whe people tell me they can hear when i sit by the fireplace and the next person says i have to be within a foot of the mike... it has to be your computers....

I GET BETTER RESULTS WITH THE CAMS USING MY "CHROME" MAYBE PASS THIS ALONG TO THOSE WHO CAN'T GET THEM.

TINA  speaks the language of the chinese  ordering departments and i am happy to report what looks  like what i would call a perfect service dane harness-- with 2 pouches-- one to accomodate the 3 x 6 poo pickers vertically- the other the pokerchips and credit cards.

 the sample one is  on it's way---and the minimum order will be more than i could eve rus e in my lifetime !!  so tina is in the harness business...

got to admire this guy "moon" whoevere he  is-- his emails are prompt, business like and resulting sample  mailed  with in hours of my sending the drawing.

maybe it is not cheap labor, but more efficient business practice. 

i have made  the same suggestions to  another USA harness making company - about 4  months ago and still have not heard from them.

tipi is cholorox washed... for lac of an extension cord, we used the portable generator-- worked fine.( we now have a permant instant on generator in both the house and barn...)

next electrical problem to address is to replace the wiring inside the walls of the whole  laundry building with mouse proof...

they made  those wires out of recycled cheese  and teh mice are thriving on them

and teh  "up" was out of her tummy.

these new cameras will take some getting used to-  they are the latest and once officially hooked up, seem to work perfectly-and the sound... in the barn... will be a mixed blessing.. grace is putting together a big swear bear for the barn... when a horse steps on your  foot-- as does happen--  some unusual language may be heard...   we will see how it goes..   a donkey brayng at 2am might be amusing  once or twice... but.....

 the one "old camera"  the nursery cam which has been so reliable is the only one out thsi morning...

there is a donkey camera... and it does work beautifully... now they have to  "DO SOMETHING"  to make it available...

pups are beginning to understand that the noise of the grinder means food is being prepared..  puring puppy foode and goats milk in a messy goo....  they are all gaining nicely.

speaking of purina... they  sent another batch of  200 bags of  great food... and .. we .. "sdp we"  unloaded and stashed it in the container in 23 minutes -- got to be some kind of record....

which brings to mind......

there was a slight panic ( by me) trying to find the  fork lift type "fingers" that attach to the buchet to lift the pallet of food out of the truck...-to be minus them would nhave been no disaster--- i had not realized  with enough people, it might have added 2 minutes to have teh chain  of people start in the truck and forget tthe tractor...( would that be called a food chain?)

which brings to  my other mind.....

there is a problem around here---simple example.... if a small  nail is sticking out somewhere in a dog area...  that could be dangerous to  a dog , there is an instinct to walk all the way to the tool shed to get a hammer, when one bang with a rock would solve the problem....   deciding to do something the  absolutely correct way-is a lovely concept.. but... say that nail was in a dog pen, going  for a hammer would be wrong...  the dog could be hurt while you wonder which hammer to get from the tool shed...when a rock would work.

we had almost that yesterday when oscar( black dog)  got left by the t tent with minimal shade.. taking the time to get a kennel ready with new fluffies would be wrong... take the dog with you immediately to the air conditioning. 

 if there is an animal that needs attention, you don't have them wait while you finish folding laundry.....

prioritize  is teh word of the day

THANK  YOU   EXPLORE !!!   we now have a working donkey camera-- except  "internet central" needs to DO SOMETHING  to get it "streaming."... but it is in the wall and does show the stall and pasture as it is turned by teh cam-ops....

the other big deal is the fact that .. i think all those cameras now have     SOUND  which means when teh donkey's bray -- which is not too often-- it may be noon here... but somewhere in the world it will be midnight- so don't fall asleep with the sound on- that raspy loud bray was designed by the gods to be heard for miles across the desert- and at that , they did a good job.  when mary would bray for  carrot at our front door, you could hear it at the gas station about 2 miles away.--- people just never knew what that odd noise was... so no one complained...

now on the topic of donkeys-- and service animals-- i know there are a bunch of people who are developing mini horses for service animals...  of course... i have an opinion...

the very basic instinct of a horse, when frightened is to run-- the basic instinct of a donkey is to stand still and think about it.... which often is interpreted as stubborn...once properly educated a donkey is so far superior to a horse that it is comical...  they are often shown in photos in 3rd world countries  as freely following thier owners without leash or lead thru traffic automotive and cattle....... you will never see a horse do that--  other than a super trained trick horse, a loose horse is a 1000 pound lump of destruction- with no sense.  if a horse paws at a fence and gets a foot caught, it is a split second  emergency situation- because usually the horse will  decide to fly backwards  pulling  the fence down, causeing massive  sometimes fatal   damage to themselves---  where a donkey  will patiently wait for you to go get the wire cutters and cut them free.-- being on the same side of the fence as the horse with caught foot could be a terrible mistake...you can approach the horse  from the opposite side the fence in relative safety... 

proof?  you never see a horse pulling a wagon without blinders covering their rear vision... because at any moment they coudl decide  the wagon is actually a wild animal who is chasing them -- and the faster the horse runs the faster that wild beast follows... 

proof?  if you have a herd of 8 cows and you let  them in from the pasture for milking.. they carefully find and get in their own stall..   do the same with horses and they all try and get in the same stall  and then kick at each other.

horses could be considered "more  obedient"  because they are more inclined to do what someone asks where a donkey is always going to use thier own judgement for their own well being..

proof?  a policeman on a horse can cause the horse to use their body to push against a crowd.. i don't know if you could ever get  a donkey to do that.

you have to teach a horse to stand still.. standing still is a built in talent of a donkey  you have to teach them   to move-- therefore the donkey is far safer in the long run.

there is one  bunch of horses that are trained to stand still better than any other.... the budweiser hitch of 8 clydesdales.  it saved their lives...because in an unbelievable accident-- on youtube--google  budweizer accident-- it is called a miracle-- --- they were doing a figure 8 and somethign went wrong causing a horse to fall... all tangled up in harness-- you can hear the gasp of the horsemen in the crowd  who realized what a disaster was in front  of them..-  the driver must have yelled whoa and not one horse moved a foot-- to the amazement of the announcer and everyone. they all walked away.. with any other bunch of horses  it  would have been fatal to some... for the handlers to go in  to that mess of 2000 pound horses ll tangled in leather straps  took an amazing faith in theiri training...  i would have got a veternarian  there with tranquilizer befroe i went anywheres near it.

My cake day  went a little differently this month. A friend if mine and I decided that the NYPD would be the benefactors this month. So cakes (they didn’t have a sheet cake this time) in hand she and I boarded the two trains to get to 1 Police Plaza. As we entered the building there were a few uniforms congregating by the front door. As they realised what we had each began to follow behind us like the Piedmont Piper. We asked to see the Sargent at Arms as I began to tell the 20 or so gathered around that with recent events we wanted to spread 'our love and appreciation' to our soldiers in blue this month, they were all humbled and appreciative of our efforts and thank us. We of course replied, NO, the thanx are ours for your continued efforts for our safety. As we left we heard the Sargent yell 'let them eat cake! :)

I would have to say another successful 19th! :)

 ELSIE MAKES SUCH A DIFFERENCE IN JEANINE'S LIFE. SHE USED THE WORD INDEPENDANT A LOT! NOT HAVING TO DEPEND ON HER HUSBAND, OR OTHERS, MAKES HER LIFE SO MUCH BETTER. SHE CAN GO PLACES ALONE AND THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. SHE REMINISCENCED ABOUT HOW SCARED SHE WAS THE FIRST TIME MEGAN INSTRUCTED HER TO LEAVE HER WALKER BEHIND AND NOW SHE GOES EVERY WHERE WITH JUST ELSIE BY HER SIDE.

- i have already forgotten teh exact words  but not the  concept  "impossible  is just a place to start"  froim trunmp's son.. made me think i might have gained something else if i heard the whole speech.. however  it   made me remember the tee shirts we had for some aids bike  ride  i got involved in as a motorcycle escort for the  pedalers   "  I'm Possible" which brings me to  some of the applications we are getting for the dogs we have in training.  maybe we should redo our web site -- being disabled is not a state of entitlement. just because your doctor put some latin name to a joint on your little toe is no reason to announce to the world "i don't work, i am disabled" and often..".i am alright now, but my doctor says it is progressive "--  that becomes a perfect reason not to do the things you didn't want to do anyway..  if i sound liike an expert... i am---just AGE... without all the latin medical diagnosis- is enough to have me decide i can no longer sweep floors or shovel snow--which i hated anyway....  at the other end of th e work spectrum is car driving-- which i like-- and i know eventually i  will have to quit.... but i know right now  i am fine  in the morning and the problem is nap time--to work around that limitation i either don't drive at that time... or more likely  i stay awake by eating-- usually ice cream--- a double decker cone will last  about 20 minutes  of highway driving.  which brings about another problem with my problem with aging... my ability to exercise is limited, but  it has not limited  my ability to chew-  for me... this is a big problem-- and it is getting bigger.  with a bit of organization and technology, we could outlaw the " your call is important to us. please hold"  and put to work a bunch of people who say they can't work. if explore's tech group  can get someone in georgia  to move the sdp cameras on puppy hill, there should be ways to do away  with the "hold" button...  cure the unemployment problem by making all hold buttons illegal-. *****  i found out that being a little old lady at times  can be of great use. i remember.....( this is getting to be a section of the dd)...  back when i started SDP-- and before  many people had heard of service dogs, i knew i had public access legally.. so i waltzed into the local mall with a perfectly  trained harlequin wearing a service dog vest.  i was immediately confrunted by one of these "almost a cop" people with a white ironed shirt and big gun on his hip called "security guard".  told me i HAD to leave --i immediately... .pleasently ...sat down .  There was nothing in his rule book that  told him what to do with me.." i will have to call the police" caused me to remark about not having anything in the oven for supper.  i never had so much attention by just sitting still.  for 2 hours  --- it was great fun-- and  now- the manager of that mall and i are best freinds.... he never heard of service dogs  except  for the blind.... if i was a young woman- i would have been treated differently- and probably argued... but  the old lady just sitting there was very educational... for all. ***** these guys from explore have a massive  pile of  STUFF-  to install --how completely  equiped?  they even had their own shop vac, collection of tools and are keeping all the cardboard to pack up alot of the stuff we no longer use in teh "overflow room".. i expected 2 cameras... to start with they have 2 microwave oven looking thinsgs whch they have prewired to be components of our system...  problem was  -- our system just kept groiwing and getting held together with duct tape... i think there will be no duct tape in this installment. ********** Carlene, just a update on our Appreciation Day. I don’t know where to start.  This has been quite an Appreciation Day for my  husband and I at the Fire Department of Cottleville, MO, District 4. We always go about 4:30, just before their dinner, as we found this is the time they will be there, unless on a call.  During the day, they are out training. Two of the three men we have met before and the third one was new to us, but they had already informed him what would happen on the 19th....so, there they are waiting at the door for us with a handshake and a hug.  What a group of appreciative men; we were invited to sit down at their new table with center logo and large leather chairs fit for a king.  We sat at the table chatting away like long lost friends.   One gentleman wanted to know where I got the cheese cake  and hoped he will be there when I bring another- another couldn’t believe that I made the chocolate peanut cluster (one didn’t get any and he was bummed).  It went on and on, they remembered everything I brought into them on the prior 19’s. Captain Dave is about to become Grandpa for the first time in a week or so, you can bit I will be there shortly after with a little something pink or blue. The single man, Matt, doesn’t cook, so he was taking the crew out for dinner.  Matt will be there the 19th of August and he has invited us to come for dinner.  Carlene, I’m sure you didn’t realize that a friendship as such would develop from Appreciation Day - but we have gained some beautiful friends. We left with love in our hearts. Ila  ************** love it !!!! ****** I had a dream last fall when I got Emmett, to walk the Plymouth water front with out using my jogger. Well tonight that dream came true. I finally walked the entire waterfront  with Emmett's help. He helped me maneuver stairs, curbs, street crossings, inclines and declines. We even listen to a band, I am so happy to have him! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

caking day  !!---- i must away to the fire department-- and one for here-- they guys from explore must have planned it that way . they are due here this  morning to install some new  camera equipment.

a costco cake???  it is getting so that we have a daily costco trip-- yesterday ... in  search of an airconditioner.. because the 2 in the training room were just not keeping up..( they were old)  i finally figured out, i did not have to go buy one.......MEGAN WITH CREDIT CARD = CARLENE.. 

almost.....costco out of a/c   -- for days... sams ( up the road in nh...) had dozens--next problem was the new visa card did not work--- somehow-- and  megan's mom saved the day because sam's  computEr  had crashed whatever and had only sheila as a sam's membership.. 

who said  screw the problem with  a senior moment... i have far too many tech moments.

When we graduated from something like high school-- the speaker or someone had the sound bite "Who are you and where are you going?" little did i know that 60 years later i would have to try and answer that question dozens of times daily... and that the machine confronting me needed proof   by means of passwords.

i even have my medical records under false pretenses because if a typo that  it will not change for fear it is a hyppa scam..--so on top of that is the cryptocrap of 5 letters and numbers--  to be typed in multiple times- and if you ask for it to be read to you  they explain  in japanese , norwiegan, and german "type what you hear"... which you can't hear because they cover the verbalization with a white noise...  it gets to the point of ... i don't know who  i am or where i intended to go- so i may as well just go eat some comfort food... like  strogonoff or  chocolate...

 i am told a tipi will be arriving on wednesday...

they (nomadic tipi) are donating a used 20 ' tipi that needs to be scrubbed  with a specific chlorox solution-- which i have to go back and find the directions... unless one of you has that email??????

this time lets put it up and keep it  in use ( lighting a fire  at least weekly) can be someone's sunday afternoon chore.

?BUUUDDDDDD?  our resident fire person...  we have  a supply of toilet paper rolls packed with dryer lint  for fire starters... so we should be all set...

plan is to wait til the cameras are up  to put up the tipi so you all can watch that fiasco---- rumor has it a "good indian woman" can put up her tipi in an hour-- i do not doubt that is true- however we don't have a supply of good indian women-- so it will be.... amusing...  there is only one way to put up a tipi--THE  book  on tipi's is by reginald and gladys lauben-----and they are right.. do it any other way and if it doesn't fall dowm , it just looks like the leaning tower of tipi-    they say.... a good indian housekeeper does not have any  wrinkles in her tipi ...

as is  well known... i often have wrinkles in my tipi .

this next  is  from the guy from scotland-- he sent me 2 videos of trying to train his dane.....i had a few suggestons ... first  being  you don't start a training session by doing something the dog hates.. like putting on a "gentle leader..."  they aren't gentle-- dogs hate them- and a properly trained dog does not need one...proof?  watch 48 pound bella who sometimes doesn't even have her 18 inch leash in her hand.-- which was another comment-- a training leash is not 6' long ---- 18 " works just fine... a SD  should not be more than  12" from your knee  anyway...-- and if yo do fall , teh 18"  on a dane will not drag around on the ground.

my brain is royally scattered for the morning--

i started with some nice quiet thoughts about  the tying  of  shoes ...

there is a huge lesson here.. "don't scratch your  poison ivy or it will spread...    people have said that for years... and i religiously have believed it.. " seeee it started on my ankel and spread to the back of my neck..."   i swore it to be true..  and it was...   but to understand how it got  there took - i am sure- many years of study before someone disooc=vered , if you wash really well-- and think very hard you can not move it from your ankle to your neck... unless you do something like tie your shoes..  the poison ivy is basically a dust-- and if you wash it all off it is gone.. unless you recontaminate yourself ..  i have gone thru this scientifically..... not believiong it... and found it to be true.  

which gets me to the next  --

 thank you to the perosn who figured it out and published it in some  legitimate medical journal  instead of the internet..

you only need on of those  nuts  every 257,000,000 people- and unfortunately the r world has them.

how would i....?   something has to "give "---- i keep coming back to  reducing the probability---and  driving a car comes to mind..- since we don't seem to be able to stop the gun people from selling them-- how about  putting chips in the guns- like we do the dogs,  when someone buys  a gun it is scanned  constantly... they  have 3 hours to get it home.. and then they may not transport it in a car without getting a permit ( another chip deal)- because every light pole you pass will register th fact that you have a gun in the car.

if the  trash bins in boston  talk to the trash trucks, i don't see why sacnnning all vehicles  for guns would be all that difficult..  you can own them in your house-- but you can not transport them. 

if the  cake producing world ( out there)  knows that i once looked at the web of a wedding videographer- 

if  people can pick up a bike in boston , ride it around,  and have the stats collected..

we will have to attack it with technology... somehow...

-- I AM UP WORKING AT MY DESK USUALLY  BY 4AM -- I TIP TOE GETTING MY COFFEE SO AS NOT TO WAKE ANYONE.. HOWEVER.... MY BASIC NEIGHBORHOOD PROBLEMS START WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS A SPRING ON THEIR  SCREEN DOOR..- COULD BE SOMEONE -- OFTEN-- HAS TO CATCH AN EARLY FLIGHT FROM LOGAN AND AT VERY NEARLY 4:15 PUTS THEIR THINGS IN THE CAR ( DOOR SLAM,  CAR DOOR THUMP)THEN  THEY GO BACK IN BECAUSE THEY FORGOT TO KISS THIER SPOUSE GOODBYE  ( THUMP, SLAM...SLAM THUMP) THEN THEY RUN BACK TO LEAVE THEIR POCKET KNIFE HOME BECAUSE OF SECURITY ( THUMP, SLAM ... SLAM.,THUMP) AND OFF THEY GO TO LOGAN. LEAVING BEHIND A VERY LAZY BUNCH OF GREAT DANES WHO CAN SLEEP THRU ALOT, BUT DOOR NOISES ARE ANOTHER THING... SO THEY MAKE COMMENTS BY BARKING...  BEFORE GOING BACK TO SLEEP...UNTIL....   THE VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF BEGIN TO ARRIVE SHORTLY AFTER 6AM- BECAUSE  ANOTHER NEIGHBOR  WAS SO ADAMANT THAT I NOT DRIVE UP AND DOWN MY SECOND DRIVEWAY (#45)  WHEN I HAD USED MY OTHER DRIVEWAY(#37)  PERFECTLY WELL FOR 30 YEARS., ... SO,  I CARVED A THIRD PARKING AREA AND TO ACCESS IT FROM #37 AT GREAT EXPENSE ($6700) FORMED A RAMP TO IT.  SEVERAL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS HAVE DANES.. AND BRING THEM TO WORK.. SO AT 7:00 THE  DANES HERE ARE READY  TO HAVE THIER SIBLINGS ARRVE AND SHARE A FUN BREAKFAST. SO---- I AM SURROUNDED BY DOOR BANGING, TERRITORIAL, INSOMNIACS   WHO MOVED IN AFTER  I WAS WELL ESTABLISHED WITH 150 ANIMALS ON PROPERTY.  IF THEY HAVE A COMPLAINT  THEY SHOULD TAKE IT UP WITH THE REALTOR WHO SOLD THEM THE PROPERTY NEXT TO ME WITH NO WARNING.  I HAVE SIGNS UP ABOUT FARMING. AND I HAVE PAID TAXES ON THE WHOLE PLACE  FOR 30 YEARS... BOTH DRIVEWAYS ARE CLEARLY MINE LEGALLY. YOU CAN'T  MOVE TO NEW YORK CITY AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THE  TAXI NOISE. *** I HAVE BEEN UP FOR  HOURS AND AM READY FOR LUNCH AT 7AM... FOR LOTS OF REASONS - FROM A MOTHER WHO GOT UP AT DAWN.... TO FARMING WHERE YOU HAVE WORK TO DO TO  GET DONE BY 6  PM...I HAVE NEVER SLEPT TIL 7AM. NOR HAVE MY CHILDREN... IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY. I REMEMBER.....   BEFORE SERVICE DOG PROJECT....HAVING THE GUEST HOUSE  WAS AN INVITATION TO A COLLECTION OF NEWLY GRADUATED COLLEGE KIDS TO LIVE THERE UNTIL THEY "FOUND THIER CALLING"- I HAD RULES THEN AS I DO NOW... SINCE  I AM UP AT 7AM- EVERYBODY  IN THE GUEST HOUSE IS  UP AT 7AM- AND IF YOU WERE HUNG OVER, YOU WERE STILL ON YOUR FEET - LEANING ON A TREE, BUT YOU WERE  UP.  ******* SINCE THE DEVELOPEMENT , I HAVE MADE  ALL SORTS OF ACCOMODATIONS...  THEY REALLY MIGHT HAVE HAD A PROBLEM IF I HAD NOT BEEN FORCED TO  CHANGE FROM MY PEACOCK PHASE..  BEFORE THE  15 ACRES  NEXT DOOR WAS CLEARCUT,  I HAD  ?MAYBE 30 DONKEYS AND...PEACOCKS--  I KEPT THE PEAHENS IN  A SLIGHTLY SMALLER SHAPE AVIARY THAN THE GIRAFFE TENT-- AND THE MALES STAYED AROUND-- OFTEN IN FULL FLIGHT LIKE A DRUNKEN 747, THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL WITH THEIR  FULL TAILS.... THEY WERE LOUD...SOUNDING LIKE A WOMAN SCREAMING  "HELP"  FROM 80 FEET UP IN SOME TREE... MANY TIMES .. NIGHT AND DAY... *** FYI  -----IF YOU NEED TO CATCH A PEACOCK AND YOU GRAB TEH AREA AT THE TOP OF THAT TAIL, THE WHOLE THING DROPS OFF AND A SILLY LOOKING LITTLE CHICKEN LIKE THING FLYS AWAY. YOU WILL HAVE NOT ONLY THOSE BEAUTIFUL 4' LONG FEATHERS  BUT 4 BUSHELS OF   TINY DOWN FEATHERS THAT GET STUCK IN YOU NOSE. ANOTHER  FYI..... THEY LOOSE THOSE LONG FEATHERS EVRY AUGUST  BUT IF YOU TRY AND SELL THEM THE PEOPLE  WHO WORRY ABOUT ANIMALS  WILL SWOOP DOWN ON YOU AND CALL YOU ALL KINDS OF BAD NAMES WHEN ALL YOU DID WAS TO  PICK THEM UP OUR OF MUD PUDDLES AND TAKE THEM IN THE SHOWER WITH YOU..  STEM UP  AND A LITTLE SHAMPOO, THEY WERE PERFECT AGAIN.. HOWEVER.... ***** NATURE STUDIES?? ..  WHEN POCKETS WAS BRAND NEW.. WE HAD RATS..  WE SAW THEM ON CAMERA AT NIGHT..  THEN THE  BABY OWLS STARTED LIVING UP BY THE GUEST HOUSE.. AND WE NO LONGER HAD RATS ON CAMERA.. ? DO OWLS HUNTING CAUSE DOGS TO BARK? ---PROBABLY... NOW THE OWLS HAVE FLOWN  AWAY, WE ARE BACK TO HAVING RATS-- NOT AS MANY.. BUT SOME... ? CONNECTED? HOPEFULLY NATURE WILL BALANCE THAT .. IF  TOO MANY RATS DEVELOPE, MAYBE TEH OWLS WILL FIND IT GOOD HUNTING GROUND-- WHICH COULD CAUSE BARKING TOO. GUINNEA HENS-- DROPPED OFF IN WILLODALE- STARTED LIVING WITH US--  I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY EAT THAT MANY TICKS,   BUT WE HAVE NOT PULLED MANY SO FAR THIS YEAR (AND IT IS JULY) SO I MIGH CONCLUDE THAT GUINNEA  FOWL HAS AN AFFECT ON THE BUG POPULATION... **** JERI AND STEVE ARE HERE-- CAMPED OUT SOMEWHERE-- ALONG WITH A FEW OTHERS...WITH THE HELP OF THE BARKER DOG BEDS , WE MANAGE...  THOSE ARE STILL THE MOST COMFORTABEL FOAM ON WHICH OT SLEEP.

LAST NIGHT AT MAIL CALL IT WAS NOTED THAT TEH CP'S WERE LOOKING 

FOR NOT ONLY A VOMIT REPORT  BUT A NASAL DRAINAGE-- OR SNOOT REPORT FROM "PUPPY", THE MINI HORSE..

HE HAS FINISHED HIS DAILY INJECTIONS ( IN HIS BUTTTT) AND GRACE REPORTED ONLY ONE SMALL GOOBER.

HE LOOKS AND IS ACTING FINE.

A MEETING WAS HELD WITH JANINE- WHO FLEW THRU HERE TO GRAZE 

ON  ANY AVAILABLE FOOD  BEFORE A BIKE RIDE.. IT WAS DECIDED.. VERY QUICKLY... THAT ON SUNDAY-- SHE WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO HELP MIX PUPPY AND HIS MOM INTO THE GROUP OF DONKEYS..

IN PREP FOR THAT, IT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF THEY WERE ALL HUNGRY FOR HAY-- SO SATURDAY NIGHT  THEIR USUAL HAY PILE SHOULD BE MUCH SMALLER-- CAUSING THEM TO  PICK UP EVERY STRAND INSTEAD OF WALKING AROUND IN IT.

THEN SUNDAY I WE  CAN SPACE OUT THE PILES OF HAY .. MAYBE THEY WILL CONCENTRATE ON EATING AND NOT CHASING EACH OTHER AROUND... I WISH TEH CAMERAS WERE ALREADY IN ACTION... THEY SHOULD BE WITHIN A FEW DAYS-- 2 GUYS FROM CALIFORNIA... AND THE EQUIPMENT ARE DUE HERE TUESDAY...10 AM....

RIGHT NOW....WE HAVE SUPER HAY--PURCHASED FROM "DODGE GRAIN"  INSTEAD OF THE LOCAL   ESSEX COUNTY COOP..  IT HAS GOOD COLOR,A ND LOTS OF  TIMOTHY BUDS- AND SMELLS GOOOOOD. IT IS FROM SOMEPLACE WHERE RAISING HAY IS A  BUSINESS...  THE FIELDS ARE FERTILIZED AND  IT IS CUT, DRIED AND BALED BY SOMEONE WHO COULD ALSO PREDICT THE WEATHER... BECAUSE ONCE CUT, YOU WANT IT TO DRY FOR A FEW DAYS AND GET BALED AND OUT OF THE FIELD BEFORE IT GETS WET. 

NOT GREAT HAY IS BROWN, LOTS OF STALKS- LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE BALED TEH WEEDS OFF THE HIGHWAY

BAD HAY IS DUSTY - AND SOMETIMES EVEN MOULDY.... IT IS  FROM WET HAY SOMEONE WAS IN A HURRY TO BALE AND SELL BEFORE PROPERLY DRIED---  CAN CAUSE SICKNESS.

 NON WORKING  HORSES CAN LIVE ON GOOD HAY AND WATER

 I CAN REMEMBER---- WHEN I WAS A KID HELPING IN SOMEONE'S BARN, JEANNE DIDN'T WAIT TO DETERMINE IF A BALE WAS DUSTY, SHE KEPT A WATERING CAN  NEXT TO HT E HAY... AND WE SHOOK IT UP AND SPRINKLED IT BEFORE FEEDING IT.

NOW- WITH THIS GREAT HAY- WE JUST THROW THE CHUNKS IN THE STALL.. A REALLY GOOD FARMER, AS THEY CARRY THE CHUNKS TO THE HORSE STALL, WILL STICK THIER NOSE IN EVERY HANDFUL TO BE SURE -- NO MOLD.

JUST ONE OF THOSE  FARMER THINGS.

 FARMING FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING HORSES IS NOT THE SERIOUS BUSINESS IT USED TO BE..-

WE---- ALOT OF THE WE'S ---HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO THINK FARMING IS FOR THE DULL WITTED--  THAT IS JUST BEFORE WE SIT DOWN TO A HEARTY MEAL WHILE MAKING FUN OF THE FARMER WHO FEEDS US...

BELLA AND GEORGE WERE A BIGGGGGG HIT...AS SHE HAD A CHECK FOR THEM OF $5300 FROM SHIRT SALES ETC...

MEATCUTTER STEVE AND WIFE AND OTHER SDP PEOPLE WERE THERE MANNINBG THE PHONES...

I HAVE TO HAND IT TO RACHAEL-- SHE HAS MORE STAMINIA AND DOES MORE IN EVERY DAY THAN  MOST ANYONE I KNOW.. SHE HAD ALREADY DONE A FULL DAY OF GETTING FOOD FOR THEIR CRITTERS, AND THEN THEY TOOK OFF FOR BOSTON AND HOURS OF PHONE COVERAGE...

we have no vomit report-- no news is good news...

 "goldie" is at it again....  for those of you who don't know, goldie (ghost of the lefthand drawer) provides many things for us- that we did not know we needed at the time.... 

 we hired bobby to help around-  he had been a volunteer one day a week and is very helpful and cheerful.

 then  a police friend  mentioned  our  security cameras could stand an upgrade  to the newer night vision ones.   several times we have have seen a sizable animal "THING"  along the fence line  but could not figure it out with the shadowing.. there has been occasion when we have had nightime barking-- not often- but it does mean something  is around to start them..  danes are far too lazy to get up and bark at nothing...  so it might be interesting to see just what  they are commenting on.

so on my list is NEXT PROJECT   SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS.

i started struggling and even paid $6.95 for a month of consumer reports access- and started asking around...  cathy of nahant came up with an expert son...  but then i found out  my new help "bobby'  installs them for q chain of retail stores and had all sorts of advice.

then---. up the driveway comes jack...lauras father--as in the deagle house being  "the house that jack built"   he is a talented  carpleter and said "the union" had run training films on how to install these new mandatory insulated blocks... he had all kinds of comments and thought ....we....( with his help)  should be able to do it --laura chimed in that there must be a you tube about installing them-- so that is next..

along with-- the new electrical system tripping the  main driveway  breaker-- bud thinks it is due to running both the laundry and barn dryers at the same time...  could be he is right- especially since he is an electrician...-- having that happen is no big deal if we did not have the cameras which sometimes need rebooting once power is off.. even withthe instant start of the generator in thebarn...  so for the moment, we are not using the dryer in the laundry buildig-- i suggested if we need to was those heavy moving blanket things that wwe hang them on the fences... we did that once when we had no dryer...

it may not look good... but it would work..

 cleanliness  is next to godliness---i may have to call cranney to come deal with that....i wish i understood exactly what was happening better..  we can assume it is 2 dryers working at once- but assuming anything with electricity is not the greatest idea...  there is the  mice chewed bare wire problem in the laundry building...

so that has to happen today also...  and it is friday...

now for  some of my thoughts on dog training...

teh toyota $1000 episode also produced a woman who is about 10 years behind me at atempting to start a service dog training facility...

she was here yesterday with another person i tried to hire away from her...nice people.. cheerfully nuts.. she has goldens-- you know ... those brown  fuzzy things--she does have a 501 c 3 -- and is a nurse -- something about goldens for independence.. or  something.

----she has been faced with e people with epilepsy and kind of got started on that  end of service dogs... a really tough road....... ... other than having epilepsy myself (i usually dont tell people that unless i am driving a 50'  horse trailer in boston traffic)  thankfully controlled for 30 years- i do not know how- from a dog training standpoint, you can train a dog to anticipate-- which is what everyone wants...  ?how do you practice?   she had some concept of  practicing because of  a change in  breathing carbon dioxide... which i question the logistics of  a cannister of co2 in training...  anticipating a seizure can be done by any dog out of the dog pound with no training....  if i had to stick my neck out, i would say it would be more of a question of improved communictions  from dog to person....  a person being  cognizant  what the dog is trying to tell you---

so if i had to  come up with a plan of attack, i would figure  out how to have a pup bond to one person, give them  "adequate " social skills --  and then train the person  to notice what the dog is saying.  you don't want a dog with too much  mindless obedience training

where you tell the dog to "heel"   and it does. meanwhile thinking "i really would like to get this person to stop and sit down before they fall" .   dogs are super super at  B follows A...  "i am not going to do A  because B happens."    i see that all the time.

so there is a bunch of  timing problems.. with anticipation... the dog might figure it out-- and give some indication... but i am not sure the person about to have a seizure would remember what that signal was...
